Version 3.4, just released, no longer hibernates apps with no background activity.
One of my principal reasons for running Greenify is to stop apps from using memory when inactive. I want to keep as much memory available for certain apps so they don't get swapped out (web browser, etc).
With this release, I have to open Greenify or a task manager to even see what unwanted apps are chewing up memory.
It would be deeply appreciated if the ability to disable this new feature can be added soon.
I'm on a Nexus 6 with 3GB RAM but it still matters a lot to my usage.
I would also like this feature to be added. This

While a setting is preferred (at least by me) I believe the change introduced in version 3.4 remains true to the original intent of Greenify. Make no mistake I also use Greenify to 'hush' certain apps but it reflects a convenience versus expectation. I will likely need to consider other methods for accomplishing this objective.

- agreed
- my previous response had nothing to do with your opinion of the developer
I agree that the possibility to disable this new feature would be great.
However I think it's a pretty good feature since it's less "brutal" than the original behavior of Greenify and it's closer to the way Android system manages resources.
An app without background service is not a problem for battery life and when it's cached startups are faster.
Yes more RAM is used but "free RAM is wasted RAM" and, as it's said in the changelog, it allows a "better task switching experience".
Correct me if I'm wrong
I did not mean it unfriendly if you think i did.
It is just saf that the dev has no interest to give Support

I've tried both the 3.3 beta and 3.2.2 from apk mirror but installation fails on both with "The package appears to be corrupt".
Tried it with both Chrome and Firefox on 7.1.1 Nexus 6. Interesting that it worked for you but not sure what to try except "deactivating" on play store page before attempting to install old version...
I really like it, but an option would not be bad.

free ram IS wasted ram but only with free ram can some heavier apps open & run smoothly so I too would like to have the option to choose
Please read here you maybe find more answers.
If I understood correctly then until now Greenify would hibernate the selected apps and they would not be running anymore at all.
This is nice because I don't like apps runnings in the backround with the ability to snoop around?
Now I have Google Maps, Chrome, ...... all still "active" which means they could always log some data or call home ?

If Greenify indicates an app is "Background-free" then no activity takes place when the app is not in the foreground. Which is exactly the same conditions that existed prior to v3.4.2.

*I have also found that in the Gallery app, there is a filmstrip mode that is found by pinching out of a picture. When in filmstrip mode, you can now use a swipe to delete the image & then immediately undo the deletion just like when you swipe to archive or delete email in Gmail.
*The play store now displays how much time is left until an app install is complete.

What do I know. Been using PA with Sony's album app myself.
Looks like you can long press bluetooth/wifi statusbar buttons to toggle them now, without having to actually jump into settings.
Is the wallpaper chooser different? More compact and quicker access... I actually haven't spent too much time on 4.2.1 - and it was mostly PA.
But, did we always have a libgoggles_clientvision.so? I think not.. Looks like they're setting up for it.

EDIT: I just realized how dumb I sounded.. scratch the above comments - goggles, not project glass - and the wallpaper chooser seems no different.
My N10 seems... snappier, but this could be placebo. Memory usage is around 500MB currently, which is extremely lower than I'm used to (but then again, this is on a clean factory install).
I'll go install all my apps and then see what happens

So it appears that I have less RAM available (around 1.2GB usable, whereas before on 4.2.1 I had 1.6GB, on custom ROM anyway). Memory usage is still around 400-500MB idle for me though.
There seem to be quite a few security fixes too (including one where you cannot activate USB Debugging unless you're the primary user... nice... )
Best one I think is a fix due for a vulnerability (exploit !!!) of the Exynos discovered in those very XDA forums by alephzain on the S3.

Looking at the changelog, and specifically the comits to vold, it looks like nothing has changed regarding mounting external storage writable, all the crappy workarounds just to get read/write on a USB HDD is what's bugging me most.

It was mentioned on a changelog somewhere that Google reserved an extra 380 some MB for the GPU, something along the lines of it being able to fragment userspace RAM before when the GPU needed extra memory.

This Mod is working perfect on my S3 Stock ICS.
I used to have a clumsy semi effective workaround with Tasker using macros to imitate button pushes. I abandoned that long ago. But this mod works great. Now Tasker can easily disable/enable Location preference at screen off/on without that daft popup consent notification.
Thanks MohammadAG
Thank you
Love this!!!
I find that having "Use Wireless Networks" causes a lot of NLP collector wakelocks, but I like using the functionality of Google Now and other apps that could utilize the network location.
I set up a Tasker Profile so that when I open Google Now, it enables the wireless network location. (normally that would make a prompt show up every time I open up google now, but this removes the prompt and makes it all work amazingly well.
Thanks a lot!!
What would be even better is if you were able to disable the background location polling...
NlpCollectorWakelock causes so much battery drain on my device (even though I don't have any apps that use network location in the background, this is strictly Google building out its databases) that I have to keep network location turned off.
Your module saves us from having to tap to agree when we turn it back on (or saves writing a Tasker script to do it automatically), but a fix for the underlying problem would be even better

Love this. Thanks a ton for making it. I like the location-based info from Google Now, but leaving this on all the time isn't necessary (like when I'm sleeping or at home.) So, I have Tasker granting location service access only when the screen is on. This way it can quickly grab my location then go the f**k back to sleep when I turn off the display.
Brilliant app!
Works for me
This works perfectly on a rooted LG Optimus G. I was pulling my hair out trying to find a solution for this. I made a tasker action to simulate a screen touch but that only works 30% of the time or so. Thanks!

Hello,I think i have found why the module don't work anymore whit android 4.4.The change is in the xposed framework that have changed the afterhookedmethod() with getextra() -- (And this module use exactly this method).I'm not a developer so i ask for someone to make this change. Here is the documentation for new method:
https:// github. com/rovo89/XposedBridge/commit/3c18f6f6bd4e0ec57898b3b3a79b5584d0396054#diff-0
https:// github. com/rovo89/XposedBridge/blob/3c18f6f6bd4e0ec57898b3b3a79b5584d0396054/src/de/robv/android/xposed/callbacks/XCallback.java
And here the source code: https:// github. com/MohammadAG/Xposed-Disable-Location-Consent
Many thanks to those who will listen to me.
This is a method by using greenify to help you identify and put the bad behaving apps into hibernation when you are not using them, stop them from battery leeching, memory hogging and stealthy running, in an elegant and unique way! They could do nothing without your explicit launch, while still have full functionality when running in foreground.
Combination of greenify and xposed function as prevent the apps from awake when your phone is in deep sleep mode. For apps like whatapps and viber, this method can set to hibernation mode so that phone more battery friendly. However, when there is a message, it still will give notification. Of course, it will delay few second.
Before you try this, remember that if you brick your phone, i WILL NOT responsible. However, i tried in note 2, galaxy wonder, nexus 7 GSM and galaxy s2 i9100g and all worked perfectly. Please DO NOT greenify alarm clock apps, instant messaging apps unless you never rely on them. Please be sure to verify the impact of greenified apps on which you heavily relies.
How to do this:
1. Download Xposed Installer.apk from http://dl.xposed.info/latest.apk . thanks to @rovo from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
2. install Xposed Installer.apk and open Xposed installer choose framework, click install/update. after it, reboot your phone!
3. Download and install Greenify_v1.95beta7 and Greenify (Donation)_2.1.. I know that greenify donation version is paid version. there is method to crack it but of course i cant share here. it is better to buy it to support the developer.
4. Open Xposed Installer and choose modules. you will see greenify, tick it and reboot your phone again..

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
5. After reboot, open greenify and click menu button and you will see experimental features.
6. This is what you will see. Tick the 2nd (most important). You can try tick other also.
7. Finally and also last step, greenify the apps that you seldom use. Basically, apps like line, viber or whatapps which you seldom use it, you can greenify it. However, for the apps that you frequently use it, greenify it will only cause delay when opening it. So, think before you choose the apps to be greenify.
However, Not all apps use GCM as push mechanism, some apps create their own TCP connection for push in background service, thus can't benefit from this patch.
CAUTION: it is not work in all of the rom. For example, it does not work in miui.
This is the source for greenify apps.

Hi all,
I've got the realme 1 (3/32) version.
Issue:
- switching between apps cause the app to reload from scratch most of the times.
- example if I open email and browser, switching from browser to Gmail causes Gmail to reload from start and then back to browser to refresh the page.
-----
Other information:
- I have switched off all power saving options of these apps
- I have 'locked' these apps as well
- still this happens sometimes. As I try using more apps example:4-5 apps it cannot keep any in memory
- screenshot: current version (180504), multitasking screenshot, free ram.
IF anyone else is facing this issue. Please mail realme @ [email protected] as more people asking for help and they could release an update easing the ram aggressiveness.

Hey,
I am using realme 1 for a while, but I did not like it. I am listing all the annoying problems I faced. Hope you change in the later update.
1) No app icon in the status bar: There is no app icon in the status bar when the app has a notification.
2) Unnecessary banner in status bar: When I turn on developer settings or accessibility of some app, there a banner with yellow color started to show, telling me to close that.
3) Cant change default messaging app: There is a lot of better message app than the stock one. When I change the app system automatically revert back to the stock one.
4) The Ram management is worst.
I think Color OS did not let their users customize or do advance things on their device.
If you don't fix that I have to spot using Color OS.

In the IMG tags you'll have to put the .Png file or .jpg file
Although I opened the link and saw it. Just another message asking them release only bug free updates would help

Some days ago, I switched my Xperia X to Honor 10. And I'm really really frustrated.
Android Pie or the Honor-Version killing randomly some or all of my background Apps. I've (think I) checked all options twice... The Honor 10 has 4GB of RAM, why is Android kidding me?
With Background apps I think of
* Syncting(-Fork)
* Tasker
* Calcy IV (Pokemon Go "Extension")
* Pace (Car Log Book for ODB2-Interface)
* Automatic Podcast Download from AntennaPod
They run a while, but every time I need them, they are gone away. Like Schödinger's Cat. No icon in notification, no entry in developer options -> Running Services anymore.
But Discord, Whatsapp, Threema, WarnWetter (German Weather App from German Meteorological Office) and others (?) working fine.

Probably because of Huawei intense ram management.
1) Try keeping the phone in high performance mode
2) try whitelisting those apps from background automation management

You're not alone in that.... in my wife's case, she can't have PokemonGO and take a picture at same time, if she tries to take a picture, PokemonGO is killed (at instant!).
Some said that having a factory reset would solve that (she didn't do that after updating from 8.1 to 9), although she was already having this issue on 8.1.

Well emui is known for this and this is something out of control. Mainly the social media apps getting killed is pain for many(not me though as i dont care much about Facebook, Twitter etc) but other app remains active if you whitelist them or set as manually as I have done for every single app, i know its not good but I still have some sort of control

How do you get to that screen? Is that a different version of EMUI?

Emui 9.
Settings- battery- app launch- 3 dots- manage manually and select as per need.
At the Honor Play forum there's also a thread complaining about memory management on EMUI 9. They're blaming the Honor Launcher and after removing it, the issue was solved. I'll probably gonna try that later to see if solves on Honor 10 as well. The Post

remember......deleting the stock launcher will revert the task switcher to the old style (scroll vertically).
try disabling first if not sure.
