very slow 2g speed

Hi
I'm experiencing very slow 2g speeds these days I think it's modem problem because my brother who's using same network(vodafone) is getting around 3x speed compared to mine, both on same plan but he's using grand and he's on official rom and I'm on neatrom
How can I fix this? If new baseband please suggest me one especially one which works well in India - Mysore
Currently I'm on neatrom 4.2
Baseband xxms2
Switch to 3g.
Sent from the little guy
I got wifi in home so it's waste to spend money on 3g which is costly in India
2g, 3g or wifi? Which one is it?

Mate, staying on 2G is a viable option only when 3G has a poor connection and drains battery. The only difference is the speed with which pages are loaded and data is transferred. The only noticeable difference in the volume of data is if, on a good connection, you browse more pages because they simply load faster.
You may be referring to WiFi, which is another story.

Best firmware to fix signal fluctuations?

Hello guys, Im using Jio as my primary sim and getting poor signals in most areas with frequent fluctuations, can someone suggest a good firmware to fix this issue?
Flash any latest firmware and then flash AOSIP
Have a stable LTE signal
Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using Tapatalk
I have good experience with the same, too.

Port out. It's only issue with Jio.
I use Airtel and Vodafone on 4G and the signal doesn't go down like Jio. I don't think any firmware can fix it. I'm on latest developer firmware. Test yourself, use any other network sim on 4G in your phone and see if the signals fluctuate.

I dont think so, I tested with Voda too it was stable (only Volte 4G signal is unstable) but on MIUI it is great
Use CAF based ROMs like AOSiP or CitrusCAF to get accurate signal representations.
Other roms too get the same signal strength but they're misrepresented.

If you can, check the speedtest on both MIUI and custom rom. It'll be same. Atleast, that's the case with me when I started using MIUI and than moved to custom roms. I think MIUI fake signals where as the stock roms give you the real picture. That's why people think the signal is stable in MIUI roms. That's my opinion.
I''ll never go back to MIUI rom else I would've tested it myself today.
BTW: signal is based on MHz and JIO is not stable as of now. This is why Vodafone is working fine for you. JIO fails most of the time cause they are still not prepared with network, I don't think Volte has any role in that.

[Resolved] Every custom ROM has LTE signal drop

Every custom ROM for Redmi Note 4 SD has a bug that is making LTE signal disappear, you can verify it by opening signal info in settings.
You can see that the dBm signal stay at normal value but "asu" value is constantly spiking to "99" which causes signal indicator to show no signal for brief moment.
This happens for every ROM that is not based on MIUI.
Does anyone know what is the cause of it? We have sources released, is this a kernel issue or something else? It cannot be modem firmware since we are using same as MIUI. Can this be diagnosed/fixed ?
I remember it was the same few months ago, and still nothing has changed. I think it's the biggest issue and im wondering if anyone is trying to work on it.
Edit:
Best explanation: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76811230&postcount=157
I will mark this as resolved.

I tested lineage-14.1-20170810-nightly-mido-signed few days ago, bug is still here.
Does it actually lose signal or is it just a visual problem?
Might be a carrier problem, currently staying at a flat 49-50 in Singapore on Singtel.

I don't understand your reply.
LTE and data are of course always enabled on my phone.
The only moments where I lost LTE signal is when I drive and arrive at a place where there is no LTE signal.

Yeah. It can be solves, if it's showing wrong signal level
This doesn't look like a cosmetic defect. I was on MIUI Nougat and didn't face any issues with signals. After coming to RR Nougat, I can see frequent fluctuations in network. Lesser speeds, much less consistent connectivity. I have tried changing the sim, compared with a phone running MIUI on the same sim, there is an undeniable fluctuation, with intermittent loss of data. This seems to happen only when data is enabled.

Yes, worth mentioning is that the issue is with LTE (4G) with Data enabled, i didn't noticed any signal issues or disconnections using 3G with Data enabled. Someone smarter should look into this.

any help regarding signal dropping issue on 9.5.9

I have been using latest beta Rom 9.5.9, severe signal dropping issue, switched to H+, then terrible internet speed, anyway I am using Airtel, tested with mi A1 found no issue with sim .

Using Jio and doesn't have any such issue. But I have noticed one thing. Internet speed becomes slow sometimes even with 4G+ sign. It looks as if miui throttles internet speed occasionally. But overall, I am getting quite good network reception.

Don't know if this was for the same reason, but I was experiencing signal drops but only when I was home. i think it was because of wifi calling. Disabling wifi calling and voice over LTE improved the situation. Again, Signal was fine when I was outside. Only when I was home. Use the following codes (in phone app) to switch between turning them on and off. Let us know how it goes.
*#*#86583#*#* (volte)
*#*#869434#*#* (vowifi)*

Thanks for the update. Try flashing the entire firmware maybe?. After flashing firmware, supposedly rebooting into recovery and then into system works better.

Guide needed to enable LTE-A/LTE+ on violet

Xiaomi says redmi note 7 pro supports 3ca but hardly is anyone experiencing it. Some internal digging made clear that it does support 3ca but its not compatible with the Indian networks yet(don't know about other countries). Most of the users report some sort of network/speed problem on lte. I read a guide here on xda for enabling LTE-A on xiaomi mi a1. Was wondering if anyone could make a dedicated guide for note 7 pro too. Well xiaomi too could fix the issue but seems they show no interest and don't even address it publicly. The network on this thing really sucks, it does. And that shouldn't become the reason to hate on this lovely device.
Don't understand what I am talking about, read this - https://piunikaweb.com/2019/04/25/e...ion-likely-incompatible-with-indian-networks/
My area supports 1800+850+2300 interband ca by Jio. But no signs of its support by rn7 pro. Even while traveling I didn't notice 4g+ anywhere. And yeah the network in my area is very weak.

Can't do an anything for now buddy. That's why I made this thread requesting LTE-A support for rn7 pro. Seems that cant be done too. Only hope is if xiaomi adds lte+ support over ota itself. But for now they seem to struggle to fix even the basic bugs.

Well my concern is not speed but poor network coverage and no support for carrier aggregation. Well even about speeds I get from 0-150 kbps, at night around 1 mbps but only in a particular region in my house. But these speeds are not constant, for a second I get good speed and the next second I get none, 0. The issue with me is more of a coverage related than speed related. Though with support of 4g+ things would have been much better.

About your speed issue I think your carrier is the culprit. Are you getting slow speed issues on other devices as well with the same carrier ?

Well slow speed isn't an issue that I heard of. Network coverage and lack of 4g+ is the issue we all are facing. Are you sure all your network settings are fine like data roaming on, volte on, selection of correct apn etc.

Changing it will not work. For airtel, 4G+ is working. For Jio, just hope they bring it by updates.
