Hello,
Same issue with my Miix 2 10.
No matter the Android x86 distro I use (Remix OS, Phoenix OS, "stock" Android, etc) I have no sound...
If someone could help us. Maybe an update of the kernel will fix this issue... :good:

The installer used in the guide you linked now supports Remix OS. Do you think installing x86 and then replacing files with Remix ones are still required in this case?

In my case, I tried to install Remix OS with the Android Installer by it did not work. So....
I get no audio with phoenix but audio with remix.
The only thing that changed in my hardware is with remix 2.0 I used a Radeon r2 card with hdmi- this setup had good audio.
Running phoenix, I had taken out the dedicated gpu so I assume phoenix didn't like my onboard i3 2120 hdmi audio?
I REALLY want phoenix to work because it boots much faster and it's overall pepper in my opinion..
Fyi I'm using a Dell optiplex 390 i3 4gb ram.
$70 on eBay with gpu whole system. ! They have plenty...
even mine
I use remix on my surface pro and no sound
I don't know what to do please help
Actually it is really nic running remix on surface due to the touch screen:good::good:
No sound on the Asus UX305. It uses Realtek and this seems to be an issue with this version of the OS. Hopefully they address it soon!
No sound on Asus transformerbook T100ta, but have sound in windows 10 an 8 (with a driver suplied by Asus), and in Ubuntu (with a simple config file). I'm triyng replace some system directory files and see what happens...
I have no sound on hp pavilion x2 detachable 2 with intel cherry trail... someone managed to get it working?
DELETE
I have the same problem my device is hp pavalion x2 also when the device is on the standby mode(sleep mode) I can not run it again using touch screen only using keyboard
Ok. I've got remix O's running on a custom build PC with and r7 250 GPU and get no sound through the HDMI port however when I run aplay through the root terminal it detects the card as a valid sound card. Any ideas? My motherboard supports audio as well through a standard audio jack but I have not tried this option as I don't have a set of speakers to use arm.
no audio through audio jack on my asus notebook.but external speakers works
Found this in another forum, something to try:
It seems that alsa does not select the current sound card as default. That
can be changed during runtime by running the following command in busybox
(fit Alt+F1 to switch console):
alsa_ctl init 1
This command actually initializes the second sound card found in the set.
You can list all your detected sound cards using:
alsa_aplay -l
To change it permanently you have to make a few changes in
/system/usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf.
For more information about this consult this guide:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Advanced_Linux_Sound_Architecture
(mind that to make changes permanently you have to install Android-x86 to
your hardrive as the live-usb version is read-only)

Nope.. still nothing.. weird thing is my USB headset works??????
First the issues. I was not able to figure out how to set it up to where I can install Remix OS on my chromebook's SSD instead of having to use a USB stick. I also wasn't able to figure out why running the ISO installer tool that comes with the most recent download (yesterday) didn't work. I used it on a 32GB PNY USB flash drive, but after going into the legacy boot menu on my Chromebook, and selecting my USB stick to boot from, it was not able to find an operating system. Instead, I used Linux Live USB Creator (LiLi). I manually selected the Remix OS ISO that came with the download, and installed it to my USB stick. My chromebook recognized it immediately as a bootable OS. It even gave me the options for guest mode, and write mode. I chose write mode. The only downside to this is not being able to choose how large the partitions should be. Either way, it installed successfully.
The awesome parts. It recognized and works uniformly with my chromebook's touch screen and touch pad. Zero issues. It even recognizes some touch-pad short cuts like two-finger scrolling, etc. It doesn't recognize some of my keys on the keyboard itself, like volume up/down, and brightness up/down, but this is easily managed at the task bar. I also tested Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes to see if games would be sluggish running on a USB stick. I don't know about all games, but that one in particular ran as though it was on my Nexus 7. Super smoothly, with no issues. Aside from it being a bit sluggish running apps for the first time, (it frequently asked if I wanted to wait, or to force close Facebook and others - hitting wait works), I am very impressed with the experience. It's everything I could hope for in a beta android desktop OS! :good: :good:
PS, I'm actually running it right now as I type this.
I got it to install on my Acer R14 with a triple boot, windows 10, ubuntu, remix os. If you use universal usb installer and install directly to a NTFS partition on your hard drive you can use RMXtools to make the data .img whatever size you want. I did it for 50GB and have installed alot of apps and i still have 48GB left. I really like this OS.
Well I tried ubuntu on my chromebook for a while, but wasn't feeling it. I would have to put it on in order to install Remix OS to a hard drive no?
No just use universal usb installer and select non-linux installation and install directly to your ntfs drive. The expand the data file with RMXTools to whatever size you want.

Make your usb bootable with Rufus.
Been using it from USB for weeks now I'll try the Linux USB tool, would be amazing to get this running on the hdd. Does you're touchpad work??
Edit: just read it does work but hasn't for me, been needing my wireless mouse
Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
Is it possible to boot a linux live usb and install remix os on the ssd with Gnome disks?
There has got to be some variation in components with revisions of the C720P, because no OS I have tried to boot on mine has supported the mouse other than Gallium. If I install the GalliumOS kernel on Debian it works fine, but no idea how I would do that with Android. Your touchpad really just worked huh? Not for me, not in the version of RemixOS I downloaded from the Jide site last night, nor in the hacked edition or whatever it's called here on XDA.
My laptop Asus X8AIJ very old since 2005.....
settup on HDD,,,non USB
Win10 64bit + Remix os 2.0.0.205 with rooted ,,,,very good...but i can not settup display for as well
Hi...i just install latest remix os on hdd partition. All work fine and better than the default android x86 version but there is no sound either on hdmi or when using pc speaker.
My pc is amd x4 860k with r9 290x.
I had google the problem but its look like i never find any solution or step to solve this.
Is this a fixable problem or the remix os is actually dont support any sound just yet.
Plz help me
Bumping this thread...good os but no sound...
Ive tried editing menu.lst adding acpi=noirq and radeon.sound=1 but no luck. Trying alsamixer from playstore also failed.
Help me pls.
Im installing on my other machine i7 with r9 280x. The sound work yay..but the usb wlan adapter cannot connect...*sigh*
Hey guys,
I installed the latest Remix onto a separate partition so I can dual-boot on my Windows 7 machine.
It seems to work fine, I guess. Detects my cheap little USB wifi adapter, at least. But it will not detect my Android phone when connected to PC via USB. Now I'm sure this is due to lack of Android-to-Android wired interface, and someone will probably recommend an OTG cable, but honestly, is there any way of forcing Remix OS to detect USB connection from an Android phone?
Hello. Its my first Post on XDA. Here is the info You might need:
OS: Phoenix OS v3.0.7
Specs: Intel Pentium G620 @2.6Ghz, 4GB RAM DDR3 1333mhz, 1TB Seagaet SSHD
Problem: So I Dowloaded Phoenix OS just to play PUBG on it. For my ease, I bought a USB bluetooth dongle for my PC so that I can use my bt headset. But Somehow, the bluetooth on Phoenix OS won't turn om. It works good on Windows, but when I do restart, I just see a black screen with ' _ ' (underscore) on top. But the windows boots and BT works.
Also, my Wifi dongle works good on Phoenix OS, but BT is not working. Please help me out.
