On MIUI, "Power Button instantly lock" does not apply but there's another setting that does the same thing. It's in Settings > Lock Screen & Password > Set Screen Lock > Require Password. Because of this, Greening when running on non root mode, auto hibernation doesn't want to work even though the MIUI equivalent to "Power Button instantly lock" is not set to on. Is there anyway to bypass this?

I've got a gTablet running the most recent Cyanogen (I haven't done anything else to it since I had to wipe it with nvflash). I'd like to set it up to have a slide to unlock it (so it doesn't get bumped on while in my bag) or that connect-the-dots thing.
I tried to set up the connect-the-dots in Settings > Location & Security > Set up screen lock > Pattern
It accepted a pattern, had me confirm it, then sent me back to Location & Security where it seemed the change had been implemented. I clicked the power button to turn off the screen then clicked it again to turn it back on... and it came right back to where it was without asking for the pattern. Same deal when I reboot.
How do I make it ask me for the pattern?
EDIT: Evidently there's a setting under Settings > Cyanogen Settings > Tablet tweaks where the lock screen is disabled by default. Unchecked that and things are good.
Hello,
I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy SIII.
I used to have no password protection on my phone, just a screen lock that had to be unlocked by swiping. However recently, I had to agree to enabling a password when installing an application (I forgot what application I installed). Now, the options 'no password', 'swipe', 'motion', 'face unlock' and 'face and voice' are "Disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage".
Is there a way to enable those options again? as mentioned, my phone is rooted.
I hate having to type a password or pin everytime I unlock my phone. Furthermore, when the screen is idle but the phone is unlocked, tapping the home button takes you out of the application so the power button has to be pressed. However this power button is also the lock button, so often this locks my phone when I tap it twice by accident or when I tap it when the screen is on but backlight is dimmed.
Please, I know many people would advise me to have a password on my phone, but I don't want it period. So don't try to convince me to leave it enabled.
Already many thanks for the help!
If the application that forced you is still there there is no solution.
You should look in Settings> Security> Device Administrators to see if the app is admin, and disable it.
Thank you for your reply.
However, I went into settings > security > device administrators: there was only one application ticked as a device administrator, being Samsung Kies. I unticked the box, and rebooted my device, but in settings > lock screen nothing has changed.
Furthermore, I guess Kies has to be an administrator to have it function properly?
Is there really no solution to this?
Hey
Which rom are you using?
And also try a factory format..that migght get this okay again...but it will DELETE ALL YOUR DATA LIKE APPS, CONTACTS, etc...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
i had the same problem but i installed some CA security certificates for WiFi hotspot on my university(credential storage) that requires more secure screen lock (password,PIN,gesture pattern)
here is the solution, fail your PIN/password/pattern on purpose enough times to see the "Forgot password"option. Then click on it and unlock your phone with your google account. afther that it will lead you to "Choose your screen lock style" page, and DO NOT click any of them since you will be only able to choose PIN/password/pattern, just click back button few times to exit from that screen, and that's it. you will now have screen unlock with swipe AND with whatever-asked-you-for-secure-lock working
I am leaving my Mom's phone root free and I saw:
NEW: Auto-hibernation now works in non-root mode, (need to be enabled in experimental features setting, Android 4.1+ required). If you have secure key-guard enabled, try "Hibernate and Lock Screen" shortcut or "Pull up" gesture on Home soft-key.
So instead of the above method, couldn't this just be automated via Llamma or Tasker without root? Say, when Screen = Off, run shortcut Hibernate and Lock screen?
I am posting instead of just doing it because I don't have her phone yet and wanted to see if the above is in theory (or actuality) possible.
Hi
Im missing the double tap to turn of feature that was on my LG V30, how do i enable this on the nova launcher?
Thanks
You need to have Nova Launcher Prime - hold empty space > settings> gestures > double tap > lock screen (this is probably by default) > allow every permission system throws at you.

this requires pin to unlock.......
It's impossible without root. Nová have this function by timeout. Not true double tap. Huawei have this function only on low priced mobile. Not for our Mate users.
I've got fingerprint scanner. But there's an option: display a black overlay for 10 seconds, that won't need pin to unlock
Or
Lock the screen right away(pin to unlock) with administration privileges (no root) but can't use fingerprint scanner.
What android version do you have? Needs to be 5/6 or higher.
Hi all,
I recently purchased a Samsung A21s, running Android 10, for my wife and set it up so that when she pressed the power button to use it it went straight to the home screen. No Lock Screen at all.
She wanted to try the Fingerprint option so I set that up however she did not like it so I deleted her Fingerprint. Now I cannot find out how to bypass the Lock Screen, she how has to swipe to unlock. There is no "None" option either in the Lock Screen Settings, cannot remember if there was originally.
At the moment I press the power button, swipe on the lock screen, and it takes you to the home screen.
It used to:
Press the power button and it takes you to the home screen.
I just cannot figure out what I did initially to bypass the Lock Screen altogether. Can anyone stop me from going mad?
TIA
No ideas anyone?
I would really appreciate any input at all.
Try this go to Settings < General Management < Reset < Reset Accessibility Settings if that doesn’t work choose the first option Reset Settings.
Thanks for the suggestions, however neither solved the issue.
How to change the setting to get to the home screen, without swiping. Go to Settings > Lock screen > Lock screen type, and from the list select None.

Unfortunately there is no None option in the list.
Sorry if you tried that already, then I'd say the phone might need a software update.
If the software is up to date, lack of the "None" option, might have to do with a finance app, such as Google Pay, Samsung Pay, or banking apps. I think they have to have a lock screen, if you have a finance app installed and active, that might be why the option is hidden.
Related to this, I notice there's a toggle setting called Security policy updates. It's in Biometrics and security > Other security settings > Security policy updates. I'm not sure exactly what that does, but I'm assuming limiting options in settings, to comply with app security, might be part of it.

Thanks for your reply. I have no finance or banking apps on the phone so I guess this is not the cause of the missing "None" option. I still think it was related to me enabling fingerprints and then disabling it, though I'm not 100% sure. It is just do annoying. Have also contacted Samsung who "jumped" onto my phone to have a look around and they were unable to find the cause as well.
Settings lock screen then lock screen type and then none it should be there

Have To Tried Resetting Your Device ?
No I have not. Just don't want to go thru all the setup and installation of apps and settings.
