Fingerprint not working in any MIUI rom - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

So I've been using RR and other custom roms .
Before having this device I had an xperia and I'm quite familiar with ROMs.
So after using RR for a while I decided to go back to stock ROM .
I flashed ROM via twrp .I wiped data ,cache,system, and flashed the ROM and rebooted .
The fingerprint didn't work.. Every time I tried to set up fingerprint it said "couldn't add fingerprint try again"
In custom ROMs fingerprint sensor is working fine.
So my question is am I doing something wrong?
I've tried global , global beta, China beta and stable.

Try flashing via fastboot method, and select option' wipe user data'.

You could try deleting these files if your device is rooted.
/data/system/users/0/fpdata/user.db
/data/system/users/0/settings_fingerprint.xml
Deleting that fixed my fingerprint issues partially, like I could add atleast 3 after that

Oh I see. Thanks for the clarification. And I've no idea as I didn't tried MIUI. It's probably 6 users I guess. Not sure.

Use the miflash tool to flash stock ROM, it restores all partitions to factory state. Twrp can't do that.

Fingerprint scanner issues
Good evening to all, I've a problem with fingerprint scanner that I'm not able to solve.
My Redmi Note 4 went in bootloop after that I've flashed TWRP. I reflash MIUI with TWRP and then the fingerprint scanner start to go bad: it recognizes all my fingers but not my right index.
I've followed a guide that I've founded on YouTube for fix that issue. It said to delete some system files, I've deleted them but after this the fingerprint scanner has stopped working at all.
I've tried everything: I've reflashed MIUI with MiFlash, I've relocked the bootloader, I've tried to flash more than one MIUI versions with TWRP, I've tried to flash Resurrection Remix but no one of these things have solved my problem. The fingerprint scanner still doesn't work and I don't know what else do.
Please help me, I've bought this phone about two months ago :'(

I've deleted the folder named "0_0" in persist/data/gxfp

Well, none of the MIUI stock ROM flashing methods flashes the persist partition. There's a persist.img in the stock ROM folder but if you try flashing it using "fastboot flash persist persist.img", it fails. You need to find a way to flash the persist.img.
Anyway, I'm giving you the 0_0 folder from my system.
Extract it and copy the folder to data/gfxp on persist.
Set the permissions of the folder to 700
Set the permissions of all the files inside the folder to 700 as well.
Owner and group for folder and its contents should be "system"

Thank you very much, I've solved the problem! Now the fingerprint scanner works, but it still doesn't recognize my right index. I add the fingerprint but it doesn't unlock the phone. What can I do?

Did you copy my files or did you manage to flash the persist partition?
And if all other fingers work, I guess something's wrong with your right index finger which the reader can't accept.

I had done a copy of the folder before deleting it. When I've seen that the fingerprint scanner doesn't work at all, I've immediately replace the folder to persist/data/gfxp but I didn't know how to set permissions.
My right index isn't recognized after that the phone has been in bootloop. I've seen that's a "common" problem of this phone. I've tried deleting the files with .key extension and the files named "locksettings" in data/system like I found on a thread in this site but nothing happened.

All the fingerprint data is saved on data partition as far as I know. Once it's wiped, system won't remember the fingerprint data. Try a full wipe from twrp. Also format data (you'll lose everything on internal).
