Today's WSJ said ASUS will be terminating Zenwatch Android Wear product.
Hope we can still get the official Wear 2

Just google it.. I just read about this myself and came here to see if there was any discusion going... does this mean we wont see android wear 2.0?
I saw the news articles too. Asus here in Europe was surprised about the news and didn't know anything about it. They said it was going just fine with the Zenwatch Sales. So I don't know how true this news is, and I think the update still will come soon. And Google makes the updates, not Asus like everyone thinks apperantly.
My concern is who inside that company will oversee the release of aw 2.0 for existing products.

I assume that someone will oversee the release of AW 2.0. My concern is that what happens when I want AW 2.1 and so on. I bought this watch last year knowing that my Gear Live would not get the 2.0 update, but I hope that my Zenwatch does not follow the same path of not getting the 2.1 or 3.0 (and so on) update when it is announced and released.
It is not confirmed that they will discontinue the line. Article at Android Police (http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/05/15/asus-reportedly-done-android-wear-zenwatch-line/) and the original article/post by Digitimes (http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20170515PD202.html) say "reportedly" and "likely". The report comes from "sources of Taiwan's supply chain" which is not a direct source. Don't raise a panic just yet.

I hope not. The zenwatch line is great for people who want a cheap, good quality smartwatch.
Yeah, for a no-frills "gets it done and still looks nice" watch, the ZW2 was hard to beat. I'm tempted to get a second one as a backup even if they aren't discontinued. That said, it would be nice to get to at least AW 2.0.

Agreed. I do think it would benefit from a rotating crown, but other than that, it's pretty much the perfect. I don't need a heart rate sensor or 4G, and I prefer the square form factor anyways. If they do discontinue the Zenwatch line, I hope someone jumps in.

AW 2.0 is now being pushed out for the ZenWatch 3. We should have it soon. Hopefully once we get the kernel source that will make it easier to maintain and make our own ROMs.

It's okay I can wait a bit longer. It's just a freaking software update not a cure for cancer. We will all manage to live without AW 2.0 on our watches for a bit longer while they fix whatever bugs there is to be fixed.

I don't BELIEVE that's what's going to be announced, but man, that would be pretty cool. I'm still not sure if Office will run on the ARM version (I'm thinking X86 apps won't, but I've seen so much conflicting info lately I"m not sure). Without Office, it would be more of a novelty for me, though.

Yea, only in your dreams. That'll never happen.... as far as dualboot being officially supported by Asus and Microsoft (doesn't make sense at all for Asus)
As far as speculations go.. my guess.. is.. more or less.. likely.. an update to Android 4.04
Btw, Capello is gone... about time for Trapattoni as well? =P

seems like good news is coming though. let me keep reading Gary post. I had to bring this back up.
Maybe they will recall all of them in two weeks, and give us something that works a little smoother, and a tablet with glass that does not break while docked, this would be nice.
Will never happen. Have you seen new article on XDA portal? Regarding win8 tablets being locked down to allow ONLY win8 to boot. Mind you, if they base win8 tablet on TFP, we might get tablet analog of htc hd2.

While windows 8 on prime is not coming officially I can say for near sure, office will be built for Windows on arm for 100% sure. There is no way whatsoever they would leave it out. It is their flagship product and they know very well the only way they will stand a chance in the tablet market is to get office and other desktop like software running on their os.
I also say update to ICS 4.0.4
I'd say ICS update and new 3.0 kernel update. maybe Asus will unlock some of the ICS features found in the phones on our tablet like FaceUnlock, wifi direct transfer, and maybe 5Ghz wifi N band(we currently only have 2.5Ghz N band enabled.
I know one of the ultimate things would be allowing users to unlock without voiding warranty. or at least fully unlocking allowing NVflash and fastboot. I have some other great guesses but I won't mention them. Ill let it be a surprise

edit:
remember: I get a new mainboard, maybe a replacement though I'd prefer the mainboard only. Got way to much familiar with the sucker in these three weeks, it had only one almost invisible llight bleed.
And yes this is probably my specific solution I recall plastic pieces falling out of one docking hole after I had peeled out the rubber
Doubt it's windows 8

Lets just wait. April should be a good one. Dont count your chickens till the eggs are hatched. If there isnt a fix by April, suck for the people with problems. If there is a fix good for them.
Hope that exciting news will make consumers that are having problems with their primes happy and not just an award that the TF201 has has received. It doesnt really suggest anything: I guess we just have to wait in two week if its really exciting or not.
I'd say Android 5.0 confirmation is more likely, possibly a release date?

that wouldn't be news as we've already heard about that for a little while now. there's a few threads on it. I think its too early to jump to a whole new version now. ICS still brand new. Android needs to catch everyone up to ICS before updating to next version. fragmentation needs to be minimized as much as possible.

That doesn't help current owners unless they also offer to refund the difference... and that would cost Asus their entire profit. Don't see that happening.

I also get that sense to lol, I personally think Google have instructed short and brief video reviews, And also have to be filmed within a restricted amount of time. So I guess will have to wait for the tablet to be fully released before we get an in depth review, by then for most reading this it will be to late because it will be already in our hands! [emoji12]

exactly, most of us here have pre-ordered based on specs and previous know how relating to the nexus program. The hands-on at the moment are just satisfying our enthusiasm for the device. For people already on the fence about the product, they wont generally pre-order anyway so the real hands on will be more crucial for them when time comes.
Its because its still running pre-release software and Google doesn't want the first batch of reviews/benchmarks to be based on an un-optimized OS giving the Nexus 9 a bad image before its launch.
Expect a software update right before the official release of the Nexus 9 followed by lifting of the embargo and a flood of benchmarks/reviews coming in.

None of the hands on seem to be showing how the device sounds like. With the boomsound speakers, i thought it would be one of the biggest selling points. I guess this is part of the limitations they impose on these jounalists. Also, it seems like none of them were signed on to a Google account or had any wifi connection so its not like they can just go to youtube and play a video.

It really is quite bizarre, Liam Spradlin on G+ said that they were "not allowed" to show anything in depth, there must be something held back (I hope).
Android central podcast on Fri said be patient, they will have reviews, and "without violating the embargo, except a couple of surprises.". We haven't seen everything yet apparently according to them.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
I am sure the reviews are being written/video'd right now, same as with previous releases.
And as before, most reviews will be released around "Something O'Clock" and a couple will come out a few hours early (Woops !).
And they may say "Review based on the final pre-release of Android, but not much is expected to change".
It's pretty simple why.
Google imposed the following limitations on videos :
Unboxing video : OK
Quick overview : OK
Device review : NO
The limitations are in place until the 12th November.

The same with the Huawei watch. The only 2 watches with a speaker and seemly the last 2 that will get updated.
I have been keeping up on the various watches and lots of the others are getting OTAs already. I am not sure if they are waiting for the big CES event to announce Speaker Support or wait for a new gen of watches to be released. Kind of weird. Something is going on behind closed doors.
Or, since these are the only ones to have speakers they may still be working out the bugs in the audio.

Pretty sure it's the same method as Phones, Minus carrier alterations. Asus must still apply drivers and such. Could be wrong, but it seems the most likely. Having google develop drivers for all the different watches is madness
I thought Google restricted the wear system much more than the smartphones....
They did. Notice how no one puts their ****ty UI on top of google's?

:crying: I just got this email to fill out to beta test Nougut.
Looks like we should get it on February or March.
Received email, completed survey. In a supreme cosmic coincidence, I got the email moments after picking up my Daydream VR. The universe is sending me a sign!
I think that they might be releasing Nougat without Daydream initially. If the new questionnaire is any indication because they asked a lot of questions about Daydream capability. Also, it takes, at least, 7 days to verify a rom with Google. So unless they already have a nougat rom cooked (maybe without daydream?), it's definitely slipping to February.
Paging @DrakenFX. I told you we won't be getting nougat
Truly disappointing. Glad that I sold my A7 today.
Yes, very disappointing if true! That nearly borders on false advertising, in fact. It would be a shame to buy a 'daydream ready' phone when in fact it is not daydream ready.

Yeah, Answered yes too. Hoping maybe they are looking for some rooted users to test updating from a rooted device or something. Ether way LOS looks like they will be releasing soon so not worried.
All you people complaining, wouldn't you rather wait longer for a bug free update? A lot of OEMs are having trouble with Nougat and if it takes them till March then so be it because I want MiFavor to be fixed.
All the people are complaining here, but hey Motorola also did this. The Moto Z Play was scheduled for Nougat update in December but latest updates point to a feb-march release. If you really want those updates so much buy a Pixel for twice the price.

Exactly. I don't get why people are acting like Nougat is the Holy Grail and they'll die if they don't get it.
Android has changed a lot. I remember the wait for Lollipop when the newest Android version was 4.x, and for a good reason: Lollipop changed a lot about Android, and I'd lay a claim that it changed more than the M->N update. I don't have a lot of hope that ZTE would give the Nougat on Axon 7 a top notch UI flow, but I do hope silly stuff get fixed (ie excessive background killing due to app battery consumption, big ugly "clear all" button that gets mistakenly pressed all the time). Daydream... I'm not sure. Depends on the headset and also more importantly, actual good games that get released on the platform.

I saw that story today, looked at the calendar and realized one big contributing factor: Chinese New Year is on Saturday. A billion people are currently taking trips to their home towns to celebrate for two weeks, then travel back to the city. Not much gets done for about three weeks around the holiday. Hopefully around the middle of February they'll be back to parse what the second round of beta testing brings up, in which case... maybe end of Feb, early March we'll get Nougat, if all goes smoothly.
I'm a little disappointed, but it's not a big deal for me. I'm pretty happy with the phone as is.

I'm not sure why they did it this way but... there are some issues and perhaps since we have the better watch they are making sure we are covered and have minimal issues.
And to add insult to injury another 2.0 thread has been started in the General area. Is there a way to roll back if we hate it?

What I assume happened is that they began working on the update (most likely building in hopes that it would need only slight tweaking for the sport), and towards the end of it's release, they realized that the sport has some different watch faces(I mean if they're gonna take this long to roll out anyway it's not as far fetched to assume the forgot something like this). So they are (most likely) currently building for the sports differences. Another theory I had was that perhaps it is a build for both devices, and the sport users ( perhaps bc we are the minority in the Moto 360 clan) that use this site simply have not received it yet; that's assuming it's a controlled rollout, of course.
Since the Sport has a GPS, probably needs more fine tunning than the 360 2nd gen, but I also think that's a matter of days to get it too, probably next week.

Dang. Well, they have today, tomorrow, and the next day to release it, or they be late. Not as if they care though ??
Oh yeah I forgot about the deadline. Well we shall see. I thought I was in a rush but after seeing some of the issues not so much anymore. But of course I'll install it immediately.

Same. I bought mine only about a month and a half ago, so I think the battery problems won't be as bad on me
Hey guys... any news? Moto_Support keep replying me the same when I ask...
"We don't provide release dates, but we're working to roll it out to all eligible devices globally as quickly as possible."
I was expecting to get it with 360 2nd. gen users, but still nothing

No release date has been set yet. Some are saying be careful what you wish for since there is no way to roll back. I think more people regret the upgrade than are thrilled at this point.

Well I know that im looking forward to this greatly; between being able to respond with voice(a feature I never could get to work well(??I think Motorola's speakers and microphones sick in general)) and Google assistant, there are a lot of features that I really want that Trump any complaints there might be. If batteries are such an issue, I have a 2nd charger I impulse bought; I don't mind charging it for about 45 minutes( heck that's a little over 50% from my experience). I think these features make Android Wear a decent competitor. Bc rn tizen is kicking AW's butt.

I know it's not everyone that is complaining, just that some of the things that were touted are not working correctly. For one, notifications are problematic and they can't figure out how to get them to show like they did on 1.5. I believe that GA is also not working correctly and if not running (huge battery drain) will not function. No time in dock mode, no double tap to enter theater mode, turning off at 45% or so.. But I think these things are not universal, however enough that they are being reported to the chagrin of users. But I'll probably install it if it ever comes after I see what you report.

I think that some of those issues probably originate from the age of their devices. There's probably were bought close to their release, and I bought mine close to 2 months ago. But I'm installing as soon as I can and I'll post my experiences
Guess Motorola doesn't really care about deadlines...
Hey no news about AW2.0 for the 360 sport?

Edit.. I'm thinking now of refusing the update and selling this Sport with 1.5 for double what I bought it for since 2.0 is such a bust. Just kidding naturally but without a way to downgrade perhaps not so far off. On the Moto forum the mod removed a link to downgrade. He's a jerk though. Any links for a downgrade? I couldn't find it on first look.
