Note 4 [SD\Mido] root on 8.2.5.0 Global Stable - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

How to root Note 4 Global with unlocked bootloader on newest 8.2.5.0? Tried few methods via fastboot flashing twrp through ADB. Doesn't work.
Sent from my Redmi Note 4 using Tapatalk

1. Were you able to flash twrp and reboot into it?
2. Can you elaborate a bit more as to what you did? Did you try flashing magisk or supersu?

I flashed twrp and when i reboot phone to recovery (vol up + power) it shows screen with USB cable and mi.pcsuite.com adress. So basicly I couldn't go into twrp to flash those files.

Use
Code:
fastboot boot <the_image_file_name>.img
instead of using vol up+power.

And then which files I need to flash in order to avoid restoring stock recovery? And in order to have root? Only super su?

The twrp part is explained here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...er-development/recovery-twrp-3-0-2-0-t3550061
Inlcuding a zip you need to flash when in recovery for the first time.
Then flash latest supersu for root. Worked for me

This way i lose OTAs right?
And later, after rooting, flashing twrp etc, if I decide to try newer Global Stable ROM version how Can i update? Through updater app, mi flash, recovery?

You can download OTA zips and flash them using TWRP.

Okay thanks! Just one more question: do I need to use fastboot commands every time I want to go to recovery?

No. After initially following all the twrp instructions you can then boot into TWRP using "adb reboot bootloader" or using the key combination.

Have you tried that on 8.2.5.0? I see people complaining about not being able to go into twrp with button combination, only via command.

Hey Developers, I need a little help with bootloader.

Hi I unlocked my Oneplus x bootloader using fastboot adb and flashed blu_spark, super SU. But somehow my bootloader got locked again. Now i am trying to flash Cyanogen and other roms and im getting an error. I tried unlocking again but when i type fastboot oem ulock the phone restarts and boots in to TWRP. Please someone help me to unlock the bootloader again. There's a method which i found for oneplus one called tamper bit. But i cant find anything related to oneplus x.
Thank you
Did you enable "OEM Unlocking" in Developer options?
Did you enable "OEM Unlocking" in Developer options?
Yes i did. As i mentioned earlier that i have unlocked my device to install super su and blu_spark. When a new ota arrived i tried to flash the stock rom but there was an error called E: ERROR UPDATING PARTITION BINARY. So i wiped dalvik cache, system, data. Still i got the same error when i flashed. So i restore the TWRP backup of my stock rom. I tried flashing stock recovery but the device reboots into twrp. And when i triedfastboot device-info, it says device unlocked : false. And also tried again by enabling oem unlock, but when i enter the code fastboot oem unlock, the device restarts in to Twrp without asking confirmation and its still locked.
Which recovery are you using? Get the 2.8.7.0 or 3.0.0.1. It appears like TWRP issue.

Do one thing. Download full 2.2.0 from oneplus website and flash via twrp. Reboot to system. It will oveeride twrp and install oos and stock recovery.

Phone says update, will not install

Snapdragon model, unlocked officially, twrp and rooted, phone downloads update, and just shows mi logo on reboot, tried changing to rom to update.zip, still no go, what do I need to do different? Cheers
What ROM is your device on at present?
What is reported here: -
Settings - About Phone - MIUI Version
You have unlocked officially, so i assume your on a developer rom.
Get the latest developer rom from here and use the updater to flash that.
Make a backup on external sdcard first.
Not on dev Rom, currently on miui global stable v7.5.3.0, phone says update available to v7.5.4.0, which downloads to phone fine, guess it will not install as it does not like twrp or root....???
Flash the zip it downloads using TWRP. It downloads to a folder in the internal storage i think.

Because you downloaded the recoveryAlkaUpdate.zip, when you used root explorer it only contain the recoveryAlkaUpdate.img, extracted it and copied to internal phone storage or external sd card, then used twrp to flash recoveryAlkaUpdate.img or used flashify to flash it.

Next time when you flashed a full rom by alka twrp, flashed superSU.zip , then rebooted phone will be normalised. I always used alka to flash rom without any problem.

[Q] Unlocking bootloader official way

I just bought Redmi Note 3 SD. I am running the latest global stable build based on LP. I wanted to move to Global Beta Builds. I tried to flash the recovery zip using updater app. But it always showed "couldn't verify update package".
So i searched a bit. And think it requires bootloader to be unlocked first. But I have some doubts :
1) After unlocking bootloader can I flash global beta recovery rom zip using updater app ? Or fastboot is the only method even after unlocking bootloader ?
2) If I am stuck at 50% during the unlocking process, will the phone wont boot not anymore ? Or I can boot it just like it was before ?
3) Does data gets wiped during bootloader unlocking ?
Thanx in advance...

1. Any rom that supports flashing through recovery can be flashed through the recovery.
2. If you are stuck at 50% while unlocking your phones boot loader, don't worry. Your phone will boot and work just fine.
3. Nothing will be wiped after unlocking your phones boot loader, everything stays the way it is.
I hope I answered your questions

And you don't need an unlocked bootloader to flash the beta global MM ROM. You can use miflash and flash the phone in edl mode. If you take a backup in MIUI first, you can restore all your apps and data too. If you're even braver, you can replace the stock recovery image in the ROM with ZXCTWRP at the same time so you can flash SuperSU, Xposed, etc. all with a locked bootloader.
Download an older dev build like 6.8.18 which should work through the updater app, then you can go to 6.9.29 after that.

No, you don't need unlocked bootloader to flash latest Global beta. What you need to do is boot to EDL mode and flash Global Beta through MiFlash tool.
TIP Make sure fist that your device is properly recognized by your PC through correct drivers. Usually the MiFlash drivers are sufficient but I had problems with the MTP driver so I had to search the internet for this

I don't think so since your error seem to depend on the updater app, and not the bootloader
TIP If you do decide to unlock bootloader, try to unlock in your current ROM first before flashing Global Beta. In my case, I applied for permission on Day1, Got my permission on Day 3, Failed to unlock until Day 5 where I EDL flashed Global beta and I was able to unlock by then. I think I could have unlocked faster if I EDL flashed Global Beta earlier

No. Data gets wiped when you flash something in fastboot/EDL or when you wipe it in custom recovery
Other Info
ROM that came with the Phone is official MIUI 7.2.3
Global beta I flashed is 6.9.22
After unlocking bootloader, I flashed ZCX TWRP
After Flashing ZCX TWRP, I flashed xiaomi.eu ROM 6.9.29 and got bootloop. To fix this I had to flash LazyFlasher.zip after xiaomi.eu ROM and then did a factory reset via TWRP
Best Regards,
Tester

He just cant go to twrp, because he isnt aware that this is a bug in latest weeklies.
Its only possible to manually boot in to twrp.
Shut down phone, then press simultaneously power + volume up until you see Mi logo.

Stack in twrp - please help

Hi all,
I have redmi note 4x (snapdragon).
I tried rooting (after unlocked) using this tool:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/how-to/twrp-easy-root-redmi-note-4-1-click-t3606463
For some reason it didn't work (stuck in fastboot screen)
So I did, in fast boot:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash boot recovery.img (I have no idea why I did that)
Then I loaded twrp by vol+ and power button
When in twrp I flashed supersu.
Since then the phone only boots to twrp. I read I need to flash lazyflasher-no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip, and so I did, and it didn't help.
What should I do?
If I need to flash a new ROM, where can I find the official ROM (international version) that came with the phone (note 4x not 4)?
Thanks for your help
No one has any ideas?

I use red wolf twrp and with that recovery you can flash stock zips. I'm not sure if you can do it with the official twrp that u have. Also with the red wolf there is an option in the settings that keeps custom recovery after flashing official miui. Actually I think you can flash official rom zip with official twrp as well the option in talking about is for flashing OTA updates. With red wolf you can also root either with flashing the included super super zip or with the included magisk. I don't know if flashing with miui tool will relock, I believe not but not sure.
Sent from my Redmi Note 4 using Tapatalk
OK. I solved it.
I put all the necessary files in the external SD.
I did a complete wipe (system, cache etc.)
I flashed the complete firmware from the link @Sp_Ark gave me (thanks)
I flashed red wolf twrp (just in case the flashing of the complete firmware was reverting me back to stock recovery)
I flashed supersu
I flashed lazyflasher
Reboot to recovery (just to make sure)
Rebooted to system, all is well.
I rebooted to recovery to set the special actions: "Support MIUI Incremental OTA" and "Include System in OTA Survival".
Rebooted to system and all is perfect (rooted)
I couldn't find the included supersu and magisk in the red wolf twrp though, so I downloaded supersu myself.
