Slow switch between wifi - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Anyone experiencing slow switching between wifi after updating to nougat?

are you referring to switching between access points on a network as the signal strengths change or auto switch from data to a remembered Wi-Fi network when it comes into range? I have problems with the phone switching to a stronger AP as I love through a building. I think you can try turning on "always allow Wi-Fi roam scans" in developer options. I can't remember if it helps the AP problem or just switching between Wi-Fi networks.

[Q] WCDMA only mode = no wifi connection

Hello,
In my area I find that I keep jumping from HSDPA to Edge and back constantly, which breaks my data connection briefly. It's very annoying.
I found that changing the setting to WCDMA only fixed this, and did not result in loss of data connection - it just kept me where I needed to be.
Only problem is at my house, suddenly I could not connect to my wireless internet no matter what I tried. I could connect to the neighbors slower open internet connection, but not my own. Tried everything. When I set it back to Auto mode, I could connect again with ease.
Any suggestions for a way to be WCDMA only and still connect to my wireless? I don't understand networking well enough to help myself.

[Q] WiFi network

I've noticed that when my phone is asleep it seems to disconnect from the WiFi network which is bad since I have bad signal at my house. Any way to force it to stay connected ?
If anyone was interested, its under advanced settings in the WiFi network. I just changed it to never sleep

[Q] WiFi AP to AP in same network

Is there a setting to tell the RAZR (or possibly any Ginger ROM) when to switch from AP to AP in the same wifi network?
For example, when you have multiple access points and you initially enable the wifi radio, it'll connect to the strongest signal for that network. But if you move out of range (or on the edge of range) of that AP, but are in-range of another AP for the same network, the RAZR does not switch AP's...it just keeps trying to connect to the "far" AP, even though there is another AP with a much stronger signal (closer).
The only way I could get it to switch to the new AP was to toggle the wifi radio off and back on, then it would immediately connect to the closer/stronger AP.
So I'm looking for some kind of setting that (maybe) says, "if the connected network's db falls below some signal strength, see if there are other APs for the same network -- based on SSID -- with better signal strength and connect to it." Or at least a setting where if signal is lost completely, don't rely on just searching and connecting back to the same AP for that network, see if there are any closer.
I realize that if you do not have WDS running, it could cause a disruption in your connection, because each AP will try and give you a new IP address, but it's a lot better than the "retry with futility even if you're out of range" situation I have now.
Thanks,
AJ

That exact same scenario worked fine for me last Friday in the office. I have an European RAZR, not the Droid RAZR and we have literally dozends of WiFi networks at work and when I moved down from the second floor to the first floor it automatically switched to the AP with the best reception and back, when I moved back to the office.

[Q] [P769] - Wifi Issues: Dropping connection. Poor Link Speed. No 5 Ghz.

I am having serious wifi issues on my T-Mobile P769 20f Jellybean which makes wifi pretty much unusable.
I have the following advanced wifi settings:
Keep wifi on during sleep = always
avoid poor connections = disabled
wifi frequency band = auto
When I am connected to wifi it will be for no longer than a few minutes before the connection drops. Sometimes it restarts on its own. Sometimes I need to kick it by toggling wifi on and off.
When I am connected I have piss poor link speed, only 5 mpbs. The connection is very slow. It took me on the order of 5 minutes today to download "wifi analyzer", an app which is less than a megabyte.
When I set wifi frequency band to 5ghz, I don't even see the 5ghz network which my dual band router (Asus rt n66u) has created on a separate SSID altogether. I only see my 2.4ghz network but trying to connect to it by clicking on the name does nothing.
When I am connected to my 2.4ghz network I have changed the ip settings from DHCP to static and that doesn't seem to help as other threads I have read suggest. My connection still frequently drops.
Finally I wish to try changing the wifi power saving setting by dialing *#0011# but that just yields "invalid MMI code".
Does anyone have any ideas? I am at my wits end with this wifi that is unusable and I am currently roaming so cannot turn on my data. It seems to me that this is the infamous Jellybean wifi issue but maybe not.
Any help is appreciated.
Yeah jellybean has a lot of problems, ice has the best Wi-Fi driver. I think wind 21b has good wifi, it's been awhile since I've been on that Rom, so I might be wrong. Maybe we can port the wifi driver from ice to the jellybean, not sure if we can though.

It may sound stupid but have you checked that your router firmware is up to date? Other than that I would try a backup if the problem wasn't pre existing. Last resort reflash it.

I had this problem whenever I have any "battery saving" app running (Battery Saver, Juice Defender, etc.). Turn them off and have my wifi on all day (or maybe using Llama / Tasker to turn wifi off at night) solves my problem.

G3 wifi connecting to poor signal Wifi connection, taking very long to drop connectio

I've noticed my Wifi on the G3 will pick up connections for Wifi networks that are far away and have little/no data connection. It then takes a long time for it to drop the Wifi connection and resume LTE data. I have the options in Wifi enabled to avoid unstable connections/disconnect wifi automatically when weak signal but it seems to make no difference.
Anyone experience this or have a solution?
