Hi ...I got Xperia X (f5122) few days back & on the second day I noticed a weird light on the screen of my phone .There are two large spots at the bottom where the gaps are.I am attaching pictures here.
This is very frustrating and distractive even in daylight I can see this light coming off screen .Notice the area where the ' Back ' & 'recent ' keys are.
I haven't see this kind of light bleed on my previous Sony devices. This is easily noticeable even i don't look at it & execpt it's on 10 % or lower brightness.
May I request anyone from SONY to confirm this as manfacture defect or some issue with my device as this isn't a standard of a product ?
And anybody elese facing this issue please attach your pictures and do tell whether your Xperia X has it or not?
It will be very useful to me.

Are you sure this is bleed? Reminds me a lot of some pressure marks I got on my laptop lcd. And it's definitely a defect it seems like noone else has this issue. Did you in fact ever put excessive pressure on the phone?

Excessive pressure ! Hell no! 1st day I got the device ;it was sealed pack ,set the device through setup guide ,charged it to 100% .and made sure that wifi was working because I need that and one 2nd day in morning I started disabling pre-installed apps and I noticed this.
I had atleast 9 Sony devices before & I don't remember having this issue.
Thanks for quick reply.
I am just curious because bleed is ( or whatever it is ) exact on back and recent key and they look organized ! lol ! So want to confirm from XPERIA X users do they have it on exact same spot.?
I am getting your point but do you have Xperia X & can you post a picture of it?
Set brightness 80% or more then dial *#*#7378423#*#* on phonepad -go to service test-display-click until u get black screen.Notice & post a picture if you can.

please follow this and post a picture .
1) Disable adaptive brightness
2)Set brightness to 100%
3)Dial #*#*7378423#*#* on phone dial
4)Go to ' SERVICE TEST " - DISPLAY -click screen until you get black one and see if there are unusual lights coming out from anywhere .
Post a pic here ,please it would be helpful to me.
DON'T DO THIS ON DEFAULT OR CURRENT BRIGHTNESS WHICH YOU HAVE ; INSTEAD SET IT TO 100%. THEN DO THIS .

I contacted Sony Italy twice via email and in two weeks they still haven't replied! Getting a bit upset about this, ignoring me isn't gonna make me or the problem go away
I dont have tint but white colour does seem a bit yellowish specially in the bottom half part of the screen. I think it's the screen guard causing such view but tomo m going to sony centre and compare it with other phones and check if its ok or no...

Sounds very much like the yellow tint alot of users have complained about, with many pointing out a yellowish tint at the bottom of display.
Let me refer you to threads already made about the issue, no need to make a thread for every country when it's widespread and when there's already threads confirming it, and what to do about it.

Well good luck with your new handset, hope it resolves the problem...and dont forget to check the build version too.
For everyone experiencing the yellow tint issue who either don't want to or can't service their handset for whatever reason, try this as a temporary measure. Works for me.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yuki.ochi.privacyfilter.free
The yellow tint doesn't bother me enough to want to send it in but the tint sometimes becomes distracting enough to irritate me. Especially so when reading off the browser or an ebook reader. This app allows me to apply a filter to the screen and I've managed to adjust the color to a point where the tint becomes barely visible. The link is to the free version but there's an ad free version as well. Just play with the settings and see what works for you. I'd expect everyone experiencing the issue to require different settings to mask the imperfections.
Hope this helps some of you out there.

The .73 firmware should fix the screen color temperature issue. They made it less warm in terms of color.
Yup. I saw your mention on the other thread but I'm already on. 73 and it's still yellow. Good to know that Sony's taking measures though.

What regiion .73 do you have?
One of trickes I use that my friend here told me is massaging that part of the screen and yellow tint goes away. I have found this to be temporary but works better than the rest.

Yeah, I just updated mine to .73 too, color still looks the same. Don't see a difference in temp. It was from Asia's firmware note. Anyone tried the SG? I'm on US firmware, so nothing from here. I do see a much better response on the buttons though. Mine had a little lag before, but now it's instant.

So, I think you guys are much more lucky than me. I am in Viet Nam, and I bought XPS in Hong Kong. Now I saw yellow tints but can't go to Hong Kong to change it nor I think Sony Viet Nam would repair it for me. That's bored of such a big company like Sony. It's their fault of manufacture and lot of people have the same issue, they should replace or repair it with global warranty not only specific region though

Hi. I think screen shots won't be necessary as my settings are pretty straightforward. Under "color", I set all 3 bars close to the left so I get a dark gray. For "alpha", my bar is on the left - somewhere between a third or a quarter of the way. FYI, I keep the filter on all the time. My (system) screen brightness is set to about 77 when I'm outdoors.
Do play around with the levels till you're satisfied though. I don't think a one-size-fits-all configuration is possible.

guys,i went to the assistance and in 2 days they give me a NEW Xperia S
i noticed a dark dead line on the top of screen of Xperia Neo which appears with dark colors for images . videos , games , applications ,,,, any thing falls in this site "i mean blue , red , grey , green ,.....",,, the depth of the darkness is proportional to the depth of the viewed color "i.e it ranges from faint grey to deep black ", i guess it's an issue of LEDs or something that couldnot emit those dark colors evidenced by not appearing with white or black
i uploaded a screen shot with white colored screen and another with greyed screen with arrows pointing to the line i mean
can anyone help ,,, i hope it's a software issue ,,, my phone is still in warranty period but i am afraid of sending it to warranty in my country because i heard that they are careless and not professional ,, and axiom "the best warranty" is not avalable in my country ,,
i am facing exactly the same problem with my xperia neo

I am not sure if its a software issue or not. Seems to me like a LCD panel issue. However, you can try flashing the stock ROM and see if it helps. For flashing, you need the stock ftf file and flash tool for neo.
You can find flash tool here.

For stock ROM, go here.

Its the global version of .62 firmware.
Once you download the firmware, its an easy job with flash tool.

Ether turn off your phone for few days, or find/make white image and let it run on your phone for some time, you can set screen on for 30 minutes, so you don't need to check it so often.
there is a black horizontal line very thin about 1 Px width.
that appears on my new S3 i9300 screen.
it appears 2-3 seconds after i turn the screen on/
except that everything is working fine.
when i changed ROM's it disappeared for a while but than returned.
what is it?
is it a software or hardware problem?
how can i fix it?
it is really annoying.

If it is connection/floating error - it will not be visible always. If it is NOT hardware, you definitely should be able to take screenshot on which the line would be visible.
use LCD Test (AMOLED ready) from Google Play. Test it.
BUT: if you definitely DO NOT want to provide look, and same time if you DO require answers, solutions, and help - keep requiring.
Having the requirements is a best motivation in life.
Privately, I'd like to advise you to KINDLY ASK for help here, not to REQUIRE it.
i tried.
i do not know what to do or how to fix it.
what do u mean by floating /connection?
did the lcd test and the line was always there. (not sure about thee black screen- couldn't see)
and BTW
sorry for the tone.
some things do get lost in translation
and sometimes desperate and frustrate can sound like demanding.
THANK U FOR ALL YOUR HELP GUYS.
By the "floating" error type related with connection: loose screen connector.
I had this with one of my previous phones, that the error occurred pretty randomly.
But, if I'm not wrong, your phone is pretty new, right?
therefore, rather than using the term :"warranty repair", I'd prefer use of : item not according to the purchase agreement, and I'd took it to the store for replace (of course: it is possible in EU, but I have no idea where you live).
Anyway: Frustration is good excuse for me, which I can understand very well.
Good luck:good:
Can any one confirm if they are seeing a bleeding effect at the bottom of the phone lcd panel. Overall the lcd panel of this phone is really bad. Comparing it to my OP2 and the illumination of the panel is too low. Anybody else with the same issues? I have put up a pic of the issue. Updated images of comparison with OP2 (In each pic POCO F1 is the at the top and OP2 at the bottom.)
Update 10/09/2018
First up my apologies for being away for the past 3-4 days. I have been trying to solve the issues with the phone and then over the weekend was caught up in some personal stuff. I thought of updating my original post rather than putting up a new one as this whole thing has come to a conclusion for me. So just a small recap, I bought the phone on 29th AUG in the first flash sale. Received the phone on 31st AUG as soon as I started the phone I found the bottom chin had a weird illumination. After a few days as the issue persisted checked online and found that the LCD panel suffered from light bleeding issues. I just headed here and created this thread and put in a request on Flipkart for a replacement. After that here is what followed.
04.09.2018 - Return requested
05.09.2018 - Got a call from Flipkart that a Technician will visit to check the device and same will be completed by 08.09.2018
07.09.2018 - Technician visited my place and checked the phone, he accepted that there was an issue however he mentioned that it is difficult to observe and explain the issue to his seniors. He however took a pic of the problem so I was hopeful that a replacement would be provided.Late evening I got a SMS that tech visit was completed, I checked the Flipkart app and it said Replaced Rejected. WTF!!!! There was Return option so selected that and the reason I selected was quality issues with product. Was surprised to see that refund request was accepted and someone would pick the package the next day.
08.09.2018 - Courier guy came to pick the package. Since I have kept the back stickers with the bar code and stuff I had just everything back as I had received it. The courier dude was acting smart and since I had already left for work he tried bullying my Mom saying the phone is not working asking what the issue was, me Mum just asked him to shut up check the package had everything and take it like he is supposed to. After checking everything and making sure all accessories are there the courier person took the package. I got a message that package was picked and refund initiated and credit will show up in my account in 3 business days.
10.09.2018 - Credit received :victory:
Regarding the Issue
First - This is not a fatal issue and as far as I know LCD bleeding does not increase with time however this is a hardware issue so if you are holding on thinking some software update is going to fix this, then sorry you are wrong.
Second - I don't agree with the "you get what you pay for" argument simply because everyone is paying the same amount of money but having different experience (We can see from pics posted by users that for some the problem is obvious and for some it is minimal and hardly noticeable)
Third - If you have this issue and it doesn't bother you then I would say go ahead and enjoy the phone. If you noticed this after checking this thread then I am sorry
Fourth - I would strongly recommend that people buy this phone taking Replacement/Refund policies of the merchant that is selling the phone into consideration. Guys that have purchased this from Mi website directly and want a replacement are having a tough time and am not sure if Mi website even has a refund policy. For Indian users get this from Flipkart and not Mi website, for other countries make sure Replacement/Refunds are provided in case you want to avail the same.
Final Thoughts -
I though the POCO F1 had great potential to take over from OnePlus as a budget flagship alternative however they messed up. If the POCO team had spent a little more time and may be resources on QA ,Software optimization (bugs in MIUI, bad implementation of curved corners, multi touch issues, etc) and may be a better name {POCO I mean seriously!!! } this phone would have been a serious contender.
Conclusion
I would like to thank everybody that participated in this thread and responded with pics for a comparison. Since I don't have the phone anymore I don't think it would be right for me to post here anymore. I just put a new battery in my OP2 so going to wait for some time and see what the Pixel's gonna be like or the OP6T maybe.
Looks fine to me on my POCO F1.
Yes buddy, I have it too... I verified with 2 other poco f1's

Yup this is how it is supposed to be. A google search revealed quite a few Indian users have reported this and Indonesian units too are suffering from this. Do you have the Indian unit or a global one? Also what configuration have you got?

This is so screwed up. I bought the phone coz I liked the Redmi Note 5 Pro I got for my dad. Poco screen looks bad when comparing side by side with Redme Note 5 Pro. Even brightness levels are horrible on Poco screen looks really dim at the same level as RN 5 Pro.

Yes will post an update. The person to check and pickup the phone will come on Saturday. Some guy on reddit mentioned that even the replacement has the same issue but I guess I have to give it a shot. :fingers-crossed:

Well that just sucks. When did you get the replacement? I raised a request on the 5th of Sept coz I felt maybe a diff lot may not have the issue. Its funny coz some units dont have this issue (like the one posted here). I guess its like 6 out of 10 are reporting this.

All the best for your refund mate hope they process it without hassels. The pblm with this issue is that some people just say it looks okay. Best way to reproduce is to open Chrome blank page and press and hold Power off button till the power off options come up and check the bottom if it shows a halo effect.
Let us know how the refund goes it should help others in making a decision. Curious thing is not a lot of people complaining about this like the boot loader issue.

From what I've seen people are using the navigation buttons and not full screen mode... because of that they are not able to notice it...
Will update here how the refund goes ?

I guess you are opening chrome in "Incognito" mode. The effect is visible on white backgrounds I guess if you just download a white image in full screen it should show up as well. Have no info on the service mode however some one having this issue posted on twitter regarding a display test you can do.

P.S. I went back to my old device so I havent tried the steps mentioned in the tweet.
could you please explain about the issue, i'm not understanding the problem... I mean I do see a bit white color in power options screen but I don't understand the issue with this.

A bit of inconsistent brightness levels are expected with LCD panels however with the POCO F1 quite a few people are facing LCD bleed that is very notice able. If the inconsistency is minimal and some thing you can live with then its alright. For me it has been bothering me from day one as soon as I switched the phone on. I mainly use my phone for watching videos and the effect sometimes is more pronounced and that bothers me hence I have asked for a replacement.
