It's on page 33 of the manual, it says:
Adding and Removing Primary Shortcuts
You can change any of your primary shortcuts with the exception
of the Applications and Home shortcuts.
1. Press to activate the Home screen.
2. Tap to display your current applications.
3. Press and tap Edit.
4. If the Reorganize icons screen is displayed, tap Switch.
5. Read the Edit applications information and tap OK (this only
displays the first time you edit the Applications menu).
6. Scroll through the list and locate your desired application.
7. Touch and hold the on-screen icon, then drag it over the
primary shortcut that you want to replace. The new
primary shortcut then appears at the bottom of the screen.
The old primary shortcut will return to the application
menu.
8. Press and tap Save.
9. Press to return to the Home screen.
The new primary shortcut will now appear on all Home
screens.
there is WAY to many steps to do that.
Ok ive remapped menu to APP_SWITCH and now recent apps appear when i press menu. But how do i force the overflow menu (three dots) to appear? I know the samsung apps are capable because if you add qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 to build.prop it shows the navigation bar and all app have a menu in them. But how can i make the menu appear without forcing the navigation bar?
I think i read something about changing "hasPermanentMenuKey" to return as false so that the system automatically display the overflow menus but im not sure how to do that or if thats even correct.
In summary: I want menus to appear in apps.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I remap the menu key to APP_SWITCH too, anyhow, without showing the emulated home/cancel button on screen via qemu.hw.mainkeys=0, the force overflow action menu button just do not appear. If able to trick the app to alway show the action menu button, the remap key may work good, just some app like Whatapps / Facebook / Twitter may not able to access the menu.
Also, looking at keylayout folder, the file Vendor_04e8_Product_7021.kl contain list per below, change of it do have any impact? I tested but it acted weird and no conclusion on this. I did tried to put the Key 704 from RECENTAPPS -> APPLICATION and it launch the voice search when long pressing home button.
Key 704 RECENTAPPS
Key 705 APPLICATION
Key 706 SIP_ON_OFF
Key 707 VOICESEARCH
Key 708 QPANEL_ON_OFF
Any key# to remap the long press of capacitive Menu key to other function? Or long pressing feature is control by software only??

Do you know by any chance how do you do this for kindle fire hd 7 7.3.1 I want to disable nav bar by using qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 but this will get rid of the action bar app Manu as well. This wouldn't be a problem but the LMT launcher app menu button won't work unless the action bar app menu is there. Please help
On my Galaxy Nexus, despite the fact that it has a menu button, I would get a menu key in certain apps like Gmail (bottom right) and Market (top right). It would be an additional three-dot button that was essentially menu access, like pressing the menu key.
However, I notice on my SGS3 that these apps and others lack this additional menu button. Is there a way to turn it on/enable it? Like...tell the phone, "Hey, I know you have a menu button, but if the app supports it turn its menu button on too"?
Thanks in advance!
With gravity box i made long press menu key get me to recent apps but when i'm at home screen it sendes me to launcher menu (to edit home screen ) and then to recent tasks so i want it to disable that menu and go directly to recent tasks any ideas how to do it

Found this super useful!

This looks long, but it's not.
STEP 1:
Say to Bixby: "open bixby settings"
Scroll all the way down to: Bixby key
Touch and select: Don't open anything
STEP 2:
Install Button Remapper: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton&hl=en
Install ADB on PC: https://wiki.lineageos.org/adb_fastboot_guide.html
Follow Button Remapper's setup instructions for ADB
STEP 3:
Say to Bixby: "open navigation bar settings"
Enable: Hard press Home button
This is the invisible Home button that you can press anytime no matter what app you're in. Set your preferred sensitivity level. I set mine to 5 so I don't accidentally press it in other apps.
STEP 4:
Install Nova Launcher: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher
Go to: Settings > Look & feel > Notification Bar > Hide navigation bar > ENABLE
STEP 5:
Say to Bixby: "open fullscreen apps"
Look for all apps that don't have the sub-label: 'This app is optimized to run in full screen`
Enable those apps
CONCLUSION:
Set 1 press = Back
Set 2 presses = Recents
Set long press = Bixby
Use the "Hard press Home button" = Home
Profit!
Cool, thanks a lot
