Hi all,
Yesterday I got the b390 update using the stock rom. After the update both gcalendar and calendar app are crashing all the time and the "calendar sync" and "calendar storage" procceses are draining (like crazy) my battery.
I tried to uninstall gcalendar and install it again, but same behavior. I need to force close the calendar procceses to avoid battery drain, but I really need calendar working on my phone.
Anyone else has experienced these problems? Any workaround?
Thanks!

I think that's pretty much all you could do...
but if you have more than 1 account syncing, like more gmail accounts syncing for mails and such, you may try to unsync the secondary ones, and see if it stops misbehaving. then you add them back, one at a time.
personally, I would go for a backup&reset
I figured out how to solve it:
1. Uninstall Google calendar app.
2. Under "Setting - Applications", go to menu and enable all system apps-.
3. Remove all data from Calendar, Calendar Storage and Google Calendar Syncronization apps.
4. Install Google Calendar again.
5. Remove all data from Google Calendar app
6. Remove all notifications from stock Calendar app.
7. Open Google Calendar and follow the first start screen.
The only issue I have is that now some events are displayed like 10 times duplicated, I'll have to figure out why.
Same problem here. All Google periodical events are duplicated many times since my update to b390. I'm using business calendar pro app. I will try to go back to b371.
I also noticed problems with my google contacts. I have to add the category "other" to my main addressbook that they are displayed.
Apparently the event duplication has been solved by itself this week, but last week I ended having some events like 10 times duplicated.
Did you make a factory reset after update?
I went back to B380 and the problem has also gone

No, no factory reset. I wanted to avoid that.

I have the same problem after this update. And I did a factory reset, and it solved nothing. How can I make a rollback/downgrade?
after update from B380 FW to B390 FW all series meetings in my local calendar are multiple. I reset the calendar app and the calendar memory to empty the internal calendar. Then I downloaded all calendar enties from Outlook to Honor7 using MyPhoneExplorer. The results is bad: most series entries are multiple, single entries are fine. After disconneting phone from PC I browsed within the calendar. When switching to another date the series entries are duplicated (e.g. 4-8 times). The entries will be duplicated by each date switch in calendar. Other calendar e.g. goolge is disabled. I called Honor support to get support. The support was very friendly, but not helpful. They stated thatt the issue is most likely caused by the sync tool and not issued by phone. In the whole system only the B390 FW update was performed and how should the sync tool duplicate entries if the calender date will be switch w/o PC connection. Now I will roll back to B380 FW knowing that the notification is poor, too. Additinonal there are some issues using LTE with B380 too. Sporadically the phone is disconneted from mobile network, only the phone calls not the data transfer. Those 2 issues are fixed wiht B390 FW, but the calendar issue is not accetable.
How do you do the rollback?

I made a rollback to B380 having the appropriate update.app on the SD-card in dload and using the 2-botton restart (don't remember which bottoms). After the rollback the calendar was OK again, but GPS-sensor was lost (I tried everything to activate it again ...).
Upgrading again to 390 brought GPS-sensor and calendar-issue back.
Now I have deactivated calendar messages but still hope for a solution.
I found a workaround for the calendar-issue: You have to delete the old calendar-entry-series and create those entrys new. It works for me.

Wipe data for the same also works
Same here with two Honor 7 devices.
Occurs since a recent b390 update and only for reccuring events that are duplicated hundreds of times.
Calendars are stored by NextCloud and shared between 4 users using phones (sync with CalDav Sync) and and Thunderbird installed on pc.
Neither Thunderbird, NextCloud nor others phones show duplicate events but only the Honor 7 devices. So online calendars do not seem to be affected and it's a Honor bug.
Tried many things : wipe apps data ; CalDav Sync accounts deleted/recreated ; tweaking sync options ; removed Honor's stock calendar app authorizations and installed Google Calendar... nothing worked
Wiping all events or entire existing calendar stored on NexCloud and create fresh new ones is not an option in this case.
I Wonder if I should tell users that they have to reset their phone, and not sure if they will end up with a b390 rom again and still the same problem (?)

I updated to build 435 yesterday. Since then, the default calendar app crashes. Have tried rebooting.
I sync my calendar with outlook through google. There are some semi-advanced entries there, ie meetings with replies. However, problem persists when I disable that calendar from my outlook.
Calendar data is accessible for my agenda widget. Data shown on the widget is even updated when I add data to my google calendar.
Any clues on how to solve this?
Reinstall everything what is named Calendar
Cheers
I reinstalled CalendarProvider.apk and SemcCalendarLargeui.apk. Still doesn't work.
Immediately after installing SemcCalendarLargeui.apk, I clicked "open". This caused the same error.
Any further suggestions? Please?
Go to Applications, Manage applications. Select calendar, and clear cache. Worked for me.
Thanks!
I had to uninstall the apps proposed from the previous poster, then opening the applications menu to allow for display of all apps (not only 3rd party). Then I was able to clear the cache.

Could you please elaborate further how you fixed your problem...for me the phone is pretty useless without a calendar !

Thank you ! Worked like a charm.
However I noticed one problem .. I use three seperate calendars in google calendars color coded red, blue & yellow. After the update to the calendar application all three show as red . Previously all 3 calendars showed up with their respective separate colors
Did any one else notice or face this ?
I seem to have deleted my Google calender (or some part of it) from my android (specs below). I can’t seem to be able to restore it.
I had problems syncing a new calender and was trying to clear all cache etc in order to get it to sync. I went into Settings --> applications --> All --> ‘Calendar’ (I’ve always had two of those, so I took the one with data in it, the other always stands on 0.0B).
I cleared the data, force stopped it and then I pushed Disable. The button went from disable to enable and I restarted my phone thinking I could enable it after restart. After reboot the calendar had disappeared. Meaning: no icon in the ‘applications’ screen, when I go into the settings menu I only have one post named ‘calendar’ (the empty one). Calendar Storage still has content though and when I use widgets they seem to be able to access and sync to my main Google calender. When I use ‘month’ view I can see the different events I have in my calendar but I can’t edit anything from my phone. As soon as I try to actually access it I get the message ‘Unfortunately, TwLauncher has stopped’.
How do I restore, or enable the Calender again? I find it really disturbing that I don’t have a calender icon in ‘application’ anymore and that it seems to have completely disappeared.
I’ve tried clearing data, experimenting with the sync option and rebooting several times. I just can’t seem to get any results though. And I can't find it on play so I can't re-install it. Any insight on this?

First check via Google mail/calendar if u see ur appointments...
If u don't see it there, they wasn't saved it Google account and so just local, which u delete (no restore)
If u see them there, just delete and reactivate ur Google account on ur phone.

Might have worked had it been a sync problem only (my calendar is intact on the web). This however is a problem of the built-in calendar app disappearing. I removed the account and installed it again but the calendar did not appear.
I'm starting to think that factory reset is the only viable option.

Hmm but that's a bit much for just probs like this...
Hmm u checked the options in application > all > calendar and delete data again?
Then also checked if calendar sync is active (I think so but just an idea)
So last option before factory reset would be wiping the dalvik cache
If at all now luck... U can do it.
But would be really strange.
Much success ;-)

Lost Calendar Events
Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I have a similar issue/problem
I was syncing and unsyncing with my samsung to google calendars, then the next day I checked, I realized all my events disappeared.
I did not erase anything yet all my events were gone.
I did notice that something was occurring during the period that I lost my data.
I saw that my default Samsung browser on my smart phone went on a refresh loop on google home page. This was an issue on googles end and was resolved eventually.
This was one of google's problems. There would be an issue with google recognizing me logging on the google home page and gmail. This lasted for a week. I wonder if that caused my data to disappear?
There are a few links below describing what happened. I'm wondering if this is an issue with Google, samsung+google, or syncing in general.
if I can recover my lost events that would be great!
It seems like a lot of them has to do with smartphones syncing, which is what I did. Even if there isn’t a solution or a recovery for this, it would be great to at least get an understanding as to why this happened (so i can avoid it in the future). I am currently storing everything local to my phone and havne’t experienced any loss of information. It’s quite disconcerting that if I did use google calendars, at any moment, all my events can go missing.

Restore a recent backup, that way the period of events lost will be minimal; only events entered/altered after the time of the backup, obviously (and you can then sync to Google if you like to bring that back up to date).
So far as recovering your lost events goes, I doubt Google will restore an individuals calendar events. Tho you might as well ask them, they might surprise you. That way you then simply restore them to your phone.
Failing that, unless you've got a copy of the db file containing the calendar events still on the phone, can't see how you'd get them back unfortunately.
As to why, I'd be asking Google. I've been keeping my phone/Google calendar synced a couple of times a day over the year and a bit I've had my SGS2 & never had a problem from their end (a couple very early doors caused by me when I had to reset my phone & I hadn't synced to Google before doing the reset).
Thanks Mistah. Unfortunately I didnt make any backups with TiBu or a nandroid at that time.
I've asked google and you are correct, they dont do event restores.
Yes definitely my main concern is why it happened at all? So it never happened to you?....hmmm..
im wondering if it was something on Google's part or something I did.
Before I realized my calendar disappeared, I unsynched and erased the profile on my device so it only had the local calendar, then i synced again.
I wonder if my erasing that profile on my samsung caused the calendar to delete. Or maybe it didn't register or save?
I can't 100% recall if I saved the events on google's calendar or my local. but if I stored on my local, shouldnt the data still be there even after my sync and unsync or google calendar?

Yep. If you remove the Google a/c from your phone completely, it deletes the events attached to that Google a/c in the calendar app. When you add it back, you'll have an empty calendar until you sync it from Google.
So essentially, what's seemed to have happened is you've done that with the a/c on your phone, for whatever reason your events @ Google's end have been nuked, so when you've re-added the a/c back on your phone & gone to sync it, there's been nothing there to sync back to the phone.
If you untick 'show [email protected]' in the calendar app settings (as opposed to removing the a/c outright), exit the app & restart the app you end up with an empty calendar, because it must have a Google a/c linked. If you retick 'show [email protected]' your events show again because simply unticking it doesn't delete anything.
Removing the a/c outright from the phone must purge the DB file(s) (?? I presume) on the phone.
That's the most logical explanation I can come up with given what happened/the order it happened in with your phone.

I just tried it again. I removed the account from my phone. then resynced it. All the info from the calendar is still there.
Currently i store everything locally and only view local calendar (as you've said, untick google calendar).
Also not sure if this matters, I'm not using google calendars, I'm using samsung's stock calendar planner.
I cant see how removing the account from ur handheld would erase all events from your calendar. Isn't removing the account just deciding not to sync with it?

google is blaming on samsung's app causing the erase when syncing.

I'm trying to sync my Google contacts but always get the message: "sync is currently experiencing problems". A reboot doesn't help. I even reflashe the ROM (Checkrom 3.5) and that didn't help either. Can anyone suggest a fix?
I’ve just noticed that I’m also unable to sync contacts with my Samsung Account, so I’m guessing that the problem is on the phone rather than the server….
The issue seems to be related to the Go Contacts app. I found that if I deleted then re-added the Google account from my phone I could sync again, but as soon as I added a new contact in Go Contacts I got this error message again. If I add the contact using the stock Contacts app I don’t get the problem. Has anyone else had this issue with Go Contacts?
Solved! (and I'm pretty sure it's for good this time)
So, I've been getting this problem for a while, I've called Google (It's a problem with the OS but Samsung should fix it), and Samsung(It's a problem with the OS but Google should fix it).......... I finally spotted someone alluding to an issue syncing groups in a previous post and someone here mentioned go contacts having issues so here's the process I followed to finally have it working again:
- If you use 'go contacts', use it to back up your contacts to a vcf which you can then import in to google
- Email that file to yourself as backup
- Turn off contact sync under your google account on your phone
- Go to manage applications and open the 'contacts database' app and clear all data.
- Do the same for 'go contacts' and the stock 'contacts' app
- Uninstall 'go contacts' (Probably not necessary but i wanted to start fresh)
- Open Gmail and go to 'contacts'. If you're confident that everything is in your phone's VCF, delete everything from your contacts.
- Import the vcf file in to google contacts.
- Here's the important bit: Delete ALL groups from your google contacts.
- Find and merge duplicates and make sure your contacts are all there. (I found that not all contacts were imported from the .vcf file)
- Install 'go contacts'
- Go to 'groups' and delete ALL groups from the 'go contacts' app.
- Turn on contacts account sync again.
I did this 2 days ago and (fingers crossed) my contact sync is working again.

What if you're confident that both your phone's VCF and Google Contacts have new information? As a matter of fact, it's the case with me. I create new contacts with my phone for a newly received phone number, and I create new contacts with Gmail for a newly received email address. So, I simply can't just delete one set and replace it with the other. Any suggestions?
(Conceivably, I can import the phone's VCF to Google, and rely on Google's "Merge Contacts" function, but I'm a little reluctant because I don't exactly know what kind of algorithm Google uses to get rid of duplicates.)
This Contact sync issue seems to be affecting a lot of Android is users and has been a big disappointment for me. One more reason for me to marvel at iOS's seamless syncing.
Worked for me

I was having the same issue and searched everywhere to find help. Came a cross a post (somewhere else... can't remember where) that said other apps could be affecting it. Thinking back to the most recent apps I have installed, and when the sync issue started, I deleted data and uninstalled Skype and my sync is working fine now.
Hope this helps.
I have finally found a 'reasonably simple' solution that came from suggestions in this thread
1. I have Go Contacts EX installed so I exported a copy of my contacts to a VCF on my SDcard.
2. Email VCF file to my Gmail account
3. Open Gmail on Web Browser on PC
4. Open the email - attachment is shown and Google gives a nice link to say "import contacts" based on the VCF
5. Press the link to import (assuming import and choose file will do same)
6. It may crash... but it has imported the contacts into a new group and may leave loads of duplicates...
7. Choose to "find and merge duplicates" (may need a few manual merges for those it does not catch)
8. Select all contacts and select to remove the "imported..." group that was created (if it crashed for you too)
Now you are left with Phone and Gmail that agree so sync works again.
Next time you edit a contact on your phone it may well stop working again - so do this now and again to keep in sync until everyone stops blaming each other for the issue...
Im still having issues with this...very annoying.
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda premium
I am having exact same issue however the device is Note II. I never had this issue with my 2+ years of Android usage (Motorola, Sony & HTC phones). This has started with Samsung Note II only. I have posted the same question in Note 2 section however did not get any reply so I am assuming that it is just me who is facing the issue . I don't have Go contacts. It is really annoying as it contacts are completely gone from phone. Any suggestions?
contacts doesn't sync
I believe it is not the hardware = Samsung,
it is not the OS, Im running Padawan 6.2 custom ROM
this was a problem years ago when I switch to gmail and the problems arrived how to translate and auto-sort the first name/last/name/title/address/phone number/and so on , from one platform to other
I am surprised how google (since they support the android) didn't standardized this in its own backyard....
i.e. uninstalled and installed back EX Contacts, cleared the data and still not synking, now when I need it, and not tomorow.
so, the workaround:
clear data in Contacts Storage (! will wipe what you had in the phone !), and sync it backwards, from google to phone, so whenever you got new email contact its there anyway, and type there the new phone numbers ....
the stock address book updates well.......
I agree the stock address book looks cheap, but whatever I do with it, updates google address book....
I believe something to do with rows and columns how one is trying to send but the google doesn't know how to autosort, this why even when you import need to do manual work
just my 2c
Update:
- I remove Google account from phone
- Via web -> Gmail -> Contacts, I removed all groups, merge duplicates. etc and synced
It worked fine for 2 days and same issue occurred again. I am so much frustrated with Note 2. I never had this issues with any of my earlier phone. Now my phone is with service center as they want to keep it for 2-3 days, use and observe.

- Go to manage applications and open the 'contacts database' app and clear all data.
- Do the same for 'go contacts' and the stock 'contacts' app

I am having exact same issue however the device is Note II. I never had this issue with my 2+ years of Android usage (Motorola, Sony & HTC phones). This has started with Samsung Note II only. I have posted the same question in Note 2 section however did not get any reply so I am assuming that it is just me who is facing the issue . I don't have Go contacts. It is really annoying as it contacts are completely gone from phone. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem with my att skyrocket running Embryo 5.4
I fixed the problem by downloading 'contacts sync fix' from google play store for free
I had the same problem with my AT&T Galaxy S3, after reading this post someone suggested that Skype was affecting this. I removed Skype and now Samsung account can sync.
This worked for me:

I have the Note II and had this problem too, I also had GoContacts EX and cleaned up, merged etc a lot of contacts. None of these suggestions worked for me to get sync working. Here's what I did: Backed up all contacts on phone. Removed all groups from phone and Google on my browser (not sure if this needed to be done but was suggested above. You probably won't need to I'm guessing.) (Exported VCF to my SD Card). Then emailed them to my gmail account, imported into my account using Gmail on my computer browser. Waited for it and after a while gmail asked if I wanted to merge. I said yes, then I deleted the group that Google automatically created for the imported contacts and the date they were imported. I also uninstalled Go contacts EX just to be safe.
After this I deleted my Google account off of my phone. Note that I have 2 gmail accounts, so my phone then switched to using the other gmail account. Then I added the normal account back to my phone and it synced fine after that. But I don't know how long it will work as I just did it a short while ago. Hopefully this helps someone though, because I know how frustrating this issue is. If you don't have two Gmail accounts I suppose you could create one temporarily just for this purpose. Good luck.
sgs3 with same issue - remove / re-add account worked for me
i have the sprint sgs3 with android 4.1 (jelly bean) and i had the same problem (sync is currently experiencing problems) until today. my contacts had not sync'd for over a month. no clue why. based on recommendations in this forum:
i disabled other applications (i.e. skype, facebook, yahoo, etc.) contact sync... no change.
i uninstalled skype... no change.
hence, i don't believe there is any need to do the above. what worked for me is...
i went to my pc's google contacts and exported my contacts to make sure that i had them saved off. then, i went to settings, google -> <my google account>, remove account, yes / ok, add account, add google account, etc. while attempting to sync contacts a window popped up asking me to update, i selected now, it rebooted / updated. again, a window popped up asking me to update, i selected now, it rebooted / updated. when it came back up, i verified that google contacts sync'd. the android version now reads 4.1.2.
i re-installed skype, re-enabled other applications contact sync... google contacts still sync. good luck!
I have the Note II and am running CleanRom. Had not issues for a while, then this started to happen. Last sync with contacts was on /2/27/2013 at 7:35pm (today for those lazy to look at post date is 3/1/2013 8:08am).
When this happens, my contacts disappear from my contact button. Today however if I switched the Contacts to Display from my gmail account to All Contacts they are back, but this isn't always the case.
If I reboot its all good, but will come back either later that day, at night, or the next day.
I have deleted the data from Contact Database and Contacts, but all that did was make me have to set the ringtones back up for the people.
Tried the Contact Sync Fix from the Play Store, no go.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've noticed a little dialog flashes really quickly sometimes when contacts are failing to sync, but I havent been able to get a screenie or read it. This is become extremely frustrating.
I've done some looking around, but I haven't found a solution that has solved the problem, so I hope this isn't redundant:
I have two or three Google calendars. If I go to the website, I see them all fine and can see the information in them. I have my EVO 3D (stock, Gingerbread; too many ICS complaints for me to run the Sprint OTA) set to sync and to show these calendars, but none but the main one will show. This is true whether I have them set to show multiple calendars together or set to show only individual ones. I tried clearing the data in Calendar Storage and resyncing; it made no difference. I don't use the stock Calendar app; I use Jorte and Pimlical, but none of the three of them will show the other calendars (which I believe is because there's only one group of calendar selection settings, no matter which app you use). BTW, the other calendars don't show on either of my tablets, either, so it's not really just a 3D problem.
Does anyone have any idea how to correct this situation?
EVO Longoria
This was an issue with Gingerbread which (for me at least) was resolved in ICS. When I used GB, I got around this problem by using multiple Google accounts and then sharing them with the primary account (the one you have linked to your phone). I had our family calendar as the calendar on my primary Google account. My wife's work calendar was on her account. I created another Google account for my work sked. The key on your secondary calendars, is to go to settings and share them with your primary account. If you select "Make changes and manage sharing" under permissions, you'll be able to make changes from your phone.
Like I said, on ICS, the issue went away for me, and I have created several new calendars on my primary Google account and all of them show up on my E3D.

Thanks for responding. I wrote you a long post which got lost because my login timed out before I was finished writing. I should have copied it first, but didn't so let me just say this: There is information going around that clearing Calendar Data solves the problem. I have three devices; it didn't work on any of them, and it also made me lose the ability to see anything on my device past a month ago, which it turns out Google warns you about on a Google Calendar help page:
Clear your device's Calendar application data
Warning: After performing the following steps, events from more than 30 days ago will no longer be available for viewing on your device. Rest assured these events remain saved on the main Google Calendar server and are accessible via the web. Further, these steps will cause your Calendar app settings (e.g., Calendar notification ringtones) to be reset.
We recommend proceeding with these steps only if the above steps did not resolve the issue.

I solved my problem by exporting all my calendars, deleting all data from my primary calendar and importing the data back in to it.
This process had differing results on my three devices, but I was at least able to get a complete "timeline" in one calendar to show on each device. This doesn't help everyone, but it may help some. Remember: If you need to keep any extended period of time available on your device, DON'T clear Calendar Data!
It's sad that after all this time Google hasn't been able to do better than this.
Have been using Outlook in my work profile with no issues on a Pixel 6 for the past 2 years. Switched to a S23U a few days ago and am periodically unable to see my Outlook calendar. S23U just displays a blank calendar with no events and claims that all available calendars are hidden. Force quitting Outlook and restarting it immediately resolves the issue. Anyone else seen that?
I am 100% stock ATT firmware. The only slightly unusual thing I do is that I also install Outlook in my personal profile which allows my Garmin Fenix 7 watch to catch notifications from Outlook. The Outlook in the personal profile is completely unconfirmed, but it does seem to see notifications from the work profile and allows the Fenix to catch and display them. Had the same setup on the Pixel 6 and it worked without any issues.
No issues on mine. Outlook for work in secure folder and personal outlook in my standard profile all working as expected.

Have not, I try to not deal with first level tech support when I can avoid it. I don't need to be told to reboot the phone and clean cache 5x despite me telling them that I have already tried that
I use Outlook for my work account and I have not had any issues with the calendar (I live and die by my calendar). Both in the app and the app widget are working perfectly fine for me.
Go into the app and go to settings, account, reset account and your calendar sync issue should then be sorted.
This method shouldn't wipe your account, so no need to start messing trying to set it all back up again.

I think there is a bug with the Samsung Calendar app (including Calendar storage).
Although my case is different from yours, this is what my problem is:
I use Your Calendar Widget on my Homescreen instead of Google Calendar Widget. If I edit a calendar entry, such as changing the event date, the event disappears from this 3rd party widget, although the Google Calendar Widget shows the event in the right place after the edit.
I use the same setup on my OnePlus phone and I don't have this problem there, so a problem with the 3rd party app can be ruled out.
