My advice: don't! Your chances of getting a dud are higher than ever. I've had mine for over 2 yrs. It requires regular (every 6 weeks) wipes due to slow-downs and freezes (used to bootloop, too). It's very likely I'm older than your mom (69, in fact), but Android is a hobby so I just do what has to be done to keep my N9 working. Can she maintain it if it's a dud, too? Although a lot of N9 owners who've posted in these forums never had any issues, many of us have. I don't know if she's Apple-familiar, but the newest iPad is actually a pretty good deal. Otherwise, I can't help. I still keep my N9 because nothing else has come along to entice me. I bought it for the larger display, and that has never disappointed me. It's not only large but very clear and crisp. In the end, I will say that I will NEVER buy another HTC product despite how may "great" devices they may have put on the market. JMO.

I echo the sentiments of the previous posters and their comments.
DO NOT BUY A NEXUS 9 unless you can get one for a ridiculously cheap price AND you're technically capable of dealing with it when things go wrong...
As they sometimes do...
For example, I've just had another (yep, not the first time) hard and spectacular crash on my own Nexus 9, whilst doing something no more taxing on the hardware than performing a simple Google search via the persistant search bar in Nova launcher, and which resulted in a pixellated mess on the screen and a screeching cacophony emanating from the speakers. (See attached photo.)
It required two 'forced' power-downs (long press on the power button) and reboots to get the device up and running again .
I was thinking (after the second failure to boot) I'd have to reflash the thing from scratch. Which is something I've done many times before, but it's a time consuming chore - fortunately the device rebooted without issues the second time I forced powered it down.
The Nexus 9 is OK (not 'great', but 'OK') when it works... A pain-in-the-fundament when it doesn't!

So... I recommend you look elsewhere for a tablet. One of the above posters recommended an iPad. My mum (she's 75) has one and has absolutely no problems with it.

Size? Stock Android could be an issue unless you want something you can root. Samsung has some nice tablets (tab A, for one) that don't cost the entire bank but they do run Samsung software over Android. Amazon fire tablets come in a wide variety of sizes, features, with matching prices. I've never had one so can't speak to the software.

I love it, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone ever though.
Unrooted, stock, came home today and the OS is toast, going to have to re-flash and set up again. This is the second or third time in two years. The thing literally does nothing for me other than run a book reader app and has bombed doing nothing.
It also sometimes decides not to charge. Not a bad connection, not a bad charger, it just decides it's going to run the battery to past dead and then once you unplug and plug it back in - bam, oh hey you wanted to charge? yeah gimme a couple hours before you get anything on the screen.
Meanwhile rocking multiple HTC products (who also manufactured the Nexus 9) and have only once since 2013 had the experiences I've had multiple times with the 9 since 2016.
Plus if you suspect the battery is at fault, well, good luck finding one.

I just bought a Nvidia shield tablet from eBay for $200. It was between the Nexus 9 and the shield tablet... Wish I had bought the shield a few weeks ago when Nvidia was still selling them. Or even a year ago.. its a two year old tablet and still the best.. They are really hard to find now, sold out on swappa and pulled from all storefronts. I checked eBay every few hours for a day and found one in pristine condition... It's still in the mail. All the rest of them on there are priced well over $200... It would have been the perfect tablet for her if you could find one. It's got front facing speakers, same cpu/gpu as the Nexus 9. Better build quality. Nearly stock Android. Sd card slot. Hdmi output to easily plug into tv. The shield K1 literally has it all, only beaten by the pixel c with the x1 cpu.. which is over priced and too big for my tastes, doesn't have a sd card slot and doesn't support adapters to HDMI.
Regardless I'd suggest the Pixel C, it's the best tablet if you don't mind it's price, size/weight and lack of sdcard slot as they only sell the 32gb varient now for $600. It's pure Android and will receive all the latest updates before any non pixel device. Or just take the gamble and get a Nexus 9... They are selling for 290 for the 32gb black varient atm which was tempting to me... But I've read nothing but troubles with that devices hardware that I've decided to stay away.
So far the tablet is wonderfull. Fast and good bild quality. Problems are only the backlight (im use to amoled gs8 plus). And the sound is good but i heard it was much better before the last few update which is the question i want to ask.
We probably wont get anymore update since it is official this table is not getting 7.1.2. Should i root? It says installing a new kernel fix the audio problem.
Other than that. Best $60 i have ever spend. Dont go spending $200. U can find it so low on craiglist, offerup, facebook ad. I had 3 guy say yes to $70. And this one i got was $60 but he was a few miles from my house.

this tablet is amazing. fast. does not heat up, getting around 10 hour SOT. gaming even underclock perform incrediable. rigtide 2 runs at 60fps max resoultion. no hicup just like my ipad pro.
my only concern right now is not even the ram. is only having 4gb left storage. 16gb model is just not enough. 64gb would have been sweet.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Nexus 7 (2013)!!
If your mother doesn't mind a smaller 7" tablet, it's the perfect choice!
Same amount of RAM as N9, it's rock solid, still gets support in XDA (You could set it up for your mother, and check up on it once a month or something.)
I had a great N9, owned it for nearly 2 years...not one glitch.
Then it was stolen
Now my GF bought me a new one last xmas, and it just isn't the same...very slow and laggy.
So I can confirm what people have said, some units aren't up to standard.

I know the new device is still very new. Although, I'm disappointed with lack of rooting now, I'm still in favor of this over Kindle Fire for a tablet in this price range. Another disappointment is no doubt the internal storage lock, forcing users to sideload only 1GB without additional SD card. Here's a few questions for those of you that have the device and been playing with it.
1) has anyone sideload VTC's stream app? I like to be able to stream video and music to tablet
2) where is this rumor PagePerfect [improved stock] pdf reader? I was at the store briefly on Thur and I can't find this app installed??? is this a vaporware BN hasn't push out? I prefer reading pdf over epub, i can't stand reflowable text that kills design.
3) anyone think we can hope NT can run latest Android v4, if rooted [a big if right now]?
Wait for NookTab to get root then buy. Nook Color took a while before magic happen. NookTab just came out today. Give it a couple weeks top. There are plenty of smart people here.

I returned mine and picked up a tab 7.0 plus. I have another nook tablet in the house so I will check in to see how development is going, but if you can swing it, the Samsung is worth the extra cost IMO

I was planing to return my NT too. I just ordered the tab 7 plus but my daughter thinks she will keep the Nook. I suggested that she look at the old tab 7 as it is a full hardware featured and rooted tab for under 300.

I am literally sitting at my computer, trying to decide whether to take back my NT and maybe get a Tab 7, or even hold on to my DS7 until a good AND affordable 7" tablet comes out. But the NT is sitting on the table, looking at me, tempting me to open it.
Here's what I'm thinking...
1. The Tab 7 is still too expensive at this point. I've seen some online for around $300 but most are still in the $400 range. Yes, I could get it cheaper by getting it from one of the phone carriers but I don't like being locked into a 2 yr. plan, especially the way tech is changing so fast. Since I don't use stuff like cameras and GPS on my current DS7, I'm not sure the $150 difference is worth it.
2. I'm thinking about just staying with my current DS7 but there is no comparison between screens and battery life with the NT, which I found out are major considerations when it comes to tablets. The NT is (somewhat) lacking in apps compared to my full-blown DS7 tablet, but it's all about the important hardware, in my case, screen and battery life.
3. I've been playing with my wife's NT this weekend and once I found I was able to sideload apks from various Android sites, I've got hers pretty much set up the way she likes. One of the biggest problems with the NT is the lack of B&N apps. With Go Launcher and downloading apps from Onlyandroid.com, which has pretty much everything I've previously downloaded from Android Market, it's as useful as the DS7. All this and it's only been out a few days so you can only imagine what the techies are going to be able to do with the NT in a few months.
I took the bait and bought a NT earlier. I started to sideload some apps and to my surprise, I'm liking it. The only annoyance is the default interface, and once this is rooted [keeping fingers crossed], the sky is the limit I think.
IMHO, the hardware upgrade from NC makes NT much more usable.

It's $150 more and at a point where quad core, higher res 7-8" tabs are just around the corner. If I'm going to spend $400, I'd rather wait 2 months for a killer one at the start of a new generation.
If the Nook Tablet gets root and a stable ICS ROM, then it's a warranted, no question impluse buy. With this HW, it'd run ICS perfectly and the lack of physical buttons would work perfectly.

True quad cores are right around the corner, but I bet you it will be at least 6-8 months before a 7" quad-core is even ANNOUNCED, yet alone released. Most people buying the NT want a smaller device anyways, so if they really want a fully functional 7" the galaxy tab is probably the best out there, and will be for a while (at least until the 7.7)

And another thing worth noting, because of the extended return policy, consider it a price guarantee too. If the Tab 7+ drops in price in the next 2 months, just go complain and I'm sure BB will give you the difference, or you could just return it and rebuy it.

I 100% agree. I tried the NC and didn't like it because it was too slow and the speaker was horrible. Like you, the more I'm using it, the more I'm liking it.

Unfortunately quad cores only has marketing valie at the moment. most apps are still single threaded and taking advantage of multiple cores is not an easy programming task

You didn't say what bothered you about the Kindle Fire, or that's what I'd suggest. If you spend more then you're getting into devices that were intended to be tablets in the first place, and the whole set of arguments changes.

I think I am experiencing it a bit...
I got my nexus 10 and really like it's screen, speakers and speed.
It does not however bring anything new to my nexus 7, so I am thinking if I should have spent the money for the nexus 10...
I really don't see myself taking out too much. For portability I have the nexus 7. And to use around the house, it's nice, but does it justify the cost to have another device lying around...?

Mmmm that's not exactly buyer's remorse. That's the question if you needed a 10" tablet or not, since you already had a 7" tablet.
I have buyers remorse... I should have never bought the Prime.
No remorse and delighted to have a tablet worthy of the Android OS without any bloatware from manufacturers or telephone companies and timely system updates.
The screen is amazing and the speed is fantastic especially when Web browsing using the Ocean browser which is now my default after switching from Dolphin.
It is great using the Nexus 10 just like a laptop or desktop with no need to install all those Web apps from sites like the BBC, ITV, TVCatchup, newspapers, etc. to view sites as the browser will do. I suspect the proliferation of these Web site apps has been caused by the inability of Apple devices to view the sites properly without Flash.
I am never going back to a 7 inch tablet even though it is more portable for the experience of using a 10 inch tablet like the Nexus 10 is so much better.
No remorse here - super happy with my purchase... now just have to fight with the Wife to actually use it.

I returned my Infinity after a week due some lag in hd video that I thought was just unacceptable for a brand new device. Looking back; glad I did. For cheaper, I got the Nexus 10. I just hope there is some sort of nice keyboard dock to go with the Nexus 10 that maybe...just MAYBE....takes an SD card like the Transformer line. Would be great to have on trips for when I need more multimedia storage.

I had buyers remorse when I got my Infinity because my Gtab 10.1 performed better. I have zero remorse with the N10.
No remorse at all.
I knew that OS wise it wouldn't actually do anything that my Gnex doesn't already do. It was simply a matter of screen size for those functions.
Honestly I'm surprised that someone with a Nexus7 would buy the Nexus 10 as well.
I sold my iPad 3 and purchased a Nexus 7 due to fear of screen lift and crappy Asus quality. Then I purchased it again but I found it really sucked compared to the iPad 3, especially the screen, and it was too small.
I was ready to get a Surface until I saw the price and screen and tegra 3.
I love my Nexus 10. It's amazing and exactly what I was looking for.
While I initially had a bit of buyers remorse. It was primarily due to the fact that my Xoom still worked and did not have any issues, but man, while I dont use it much in portrait mode, it handles so much better. I have no complaints with the weight or the feel, the screen is incredible. Highly recommend, just wish they had accessories for it. I think that it is Samsung weakness and Motorola's strength is accessories.

I get where you're coming from. The 7 is perfectly usable in all respects. Pragmatically speaking you didn't need the 10. But, you have it now, so, your choices would seem to be either returning it or enjoying the big screen comfort cruise.

None here. There are some bugs to work out and fix, but they seem to come and go with flashing new ROMs and such.
I haven't used my laptop since I received the Nexus 10.
None!!! I love the Nexus 10. I am just waiting for more app compatibility with Android 4.2, but that does not make me regret getting it.
I've been still thinking about whether or not I should of chosen a Nexus 4 over a Nexus 10 (I'm still within my refund period for another few days), but meh, still siding with my Nexus 10 decision
None at all! This is my first tablet purchase, and I think I made an excellent choice. Just like a previous poster, I haven't booted up my laptop once since I received my N10. I love the screen and size. I'm not intending on taking it out the house much, so 10 inches works perfectly for me. I'm confident the minor glitches we've been experiencing will be fixed by software updates soon by Google. We just got one today... I'm loving the fact that updates will come directly from Google, with no carrier interference.

AOSP support... nothing like it... for a guy like me, this is the only way to go... Love the device... screen is a beauty... speakers are much better than all other tablets... performance is great (don't trust benchmarks!!)
To be honest, the only times I felt like the nexus wasn't good enough was when reading these forums. I've been extremely happy with the device otherwise, but reading all the complaining can be infectious.
My only complaints would be about the speed of chrome browser (which really surprised me), but I replaced it with Boat, and also the lack of the Pogo cable/accessories. I don't feel like I received a different device than I was expecting.

Hey I was just wondering what everyone's opinions were on the Nexus 9. I need a tablet to use just for watching Youtube, browsing the web, reading in bed and streaming to my Chromecast often. I've heard quite a few complaints about the device and it's definitely not cheap so just wondering what people think of it? I also think it has been a flop sales wise and that this is one google regrets. Of all my nexus devices, this is the one which needed 5.1 the most and will be the last, by a fair margin, to get it. And who knows when that will be?
I've heard great things about the shield, that's where I would be looking.

Agree with this, even about the Nvidia Shield part. I've lost track of when the 2015 Shield is coming out, but that will be a good buy. Even my 2013 Wifi Nexus 7 performs better than the N9

Agree with this 100%.
Wait until 5.1 drops for the N9 before making a decision. It will either make it the great tablet it has the potential to be, or confirm it as the lemon that it is now.

It's hard to say, folks' experiences seem to vary so widely.
I've had mine since slightly after launch. I use it for remoting in to my work network, listening/playing music, browsing forums, web browsing, and light gaming. I don't experience the problems that some report here -- except, if I have multiple chrome tabs open or switch away from chrome and then go back, I do experience excessive web page reloading/refreshing. But no overheating, no lag, etc. Not sure if it is luck of draw in terms of hardware, app selection, or what.
I get about 7-8 hours battery life with mixed use. I am bone stock in terms of rom, kernel, etc. I haven't even rooted it.
I would say read through the "post here if you love your nexus 9" and "5.1 rolling out now?" threads in the N9 General subforum. You will get a good sense of the positive and negative viewpoints.
Bottom line for me is that I would buy it again if I had the choice to make again.

I have already rooted my Nexus 9, but when it was on stock I didn't have any performance issues like with other people. It was very fast, faster than any Android device I've used up to now. After rooting I lowered the speed to 1.3GHz & it still flies in the games I use.
The 9 is much better for reading than my Kindle Fire thanks to the high resolution, which makes reading less of a chore. Also android now has PowerPoint & Word, making my N9 even more usable as a replacement for my ultrabook.
Overall, my only regret is choosing the 16GB over the 32GB because it only has 11GB free.

My problem with the Shield tablet and why I was looking at the Nexus 9 was the size. To me the size of the N9 is big enough that it fills a void that my phone can't. The Shield seems awesome and I'd get it hands-down but it's screen size is small enough that it's not really a tablet in my eyes..it's like a huge phone if that makes sense?
There's not a major size difference. I have seen the HP Stream 8 in person & found that it's usable as a Windows device.

Also the shield has some advantages like OpenGL 4.x, direct stylus, GRID, and no DCO issues.

There is such an enormous gulf between those with good and bad experiences. When people tell me they love their nexus 9 I am left scratching my head. The thing is a dud for me, certainly I get better performance from my nexus 7s (2012 + 2013). I feel had that I paid so much for a device which seems solid when you pick it up but is a disaster when you use it. Whether you're in one camp or another, Google had paid it almost no attention in five months, that's ominous in my books. Buyer beware.

Ya I definitely will heed your advice. I feel like it was almost a testbench on how a 64bit architecture would work with Android.. I just don't even understand how it can be so expensive for the experience the vast majority of people are having. To me a tablet of that price should just work and be an excellent experience.

Its not perfect but still new, Still has some bugs. I came from an Aus Transformer infinity t700,
nice screen, but with only 1 gig of ram, and slow tegra3. it was much larger than my nexus 9.
to me the nexus 9 is the best tablet I had in a really long time, it does have its issues, but hopefully they will be fixed soon with software updates.

My problem with this is a $530 32GB tablet shouldn't need a software update or have "some issues." My family has iPads and I used to have one years ago and have never seen a single issue with any of them.

iOS is better with memory management, is minimalistic, and is meant for a very strict set of specs. All of them use some form of the Legendary Power VR SGX with 1-3 CPU cores max. They have likely optimized the heck out of their devices compared to Android manufacturers.
You could put 8 cores in an android device @10Ghz & watch it barely scrape past Apple's latest offering(s). I don't care for Apple, but it's hard to ignore how well made OSX & iOS are.

The Nexus 9 has been disappointing... It doesn't have a lot of features I'd ideally like to have: microSD, MHL/HDMI, and Miracast being the main examples. And battery life isn't great. I'd forgive those if it was really fast/responsive, and if we stayed on the bleeding-edge with Android updates. Neither of those is true. Also, while it's a good value for high-end tablet, it's not a great value like the Nexus 7 tablets were.
That being said, I think all the Android tablets right now have some fatal flaws. I'm not sure I would pick anything else over the Nexus 9. There's a fair bit to like about the Nexus 9- the screen and speakers being two examples. But if I didn't need a tablet, I'd probably hold off for now. Or, quite frankly, I'd probably more seriously consider shelling out the extra cash for a Surface Pro 3.

My Galaxy Tab S is a leaps and bounds above the Nexus 9 - I bought it after the N9, because I couldn't wait for Google to rectify the N9's short-comings.
Whilst the Tab S doesn't feel as premium as the N9, it is good, solid, hardware (exceptional screen) and a viable software build.
If Google can fix the N9, I suspect the Tab S will end up on Ebay as I much prefer the N9 keyboard over the Tab S's, but at the moment it is no contest.
I have a Surface Pro 3 too - it is a fantastic machine and has completely replaced my MacBook Pro. However, a tablet it is not IMO - it's a touch screen PC with a detachable keyboard.
It's just too big to serve as a tablet (YMMV).

I've gone through a lot of Nexus 9s. The answer for me is "maybe". Newer sand models are like a completely different tablet. They run cooler. There is essentially no backlight bleed. The back plates are now glued on so no more bouncy center or creaking . I don't have any lag and performance is great. Destroys my other devices. I can't compare to the old white models I had from Amazon because i never kept one for long enough (bleed, horrible buttons, bouncy backplate, or some other issue). Chrome reloading is the only software issue i have. The only remaining hardware issue is that the buttons are just mediocre. They work fine, but they just don't reflect the price. I returned a couple sand models for this reason which is why I have a good idea of the quality of these newer sand tablets.
Unfortunately the Sand models from Google Store are overpriced, and ordering a cheaper white or black model from Amazon doesn't guarantee good quality. I was able to get a $50 Google Play gift card so I'm happy for the price.

Sorry for pretty dumb question, but i hope you could give me advice! I'll explain my situation a bit, i currently own 10" Chinese Onda tablet, performance is pretty awful, battery life also (~1 hr of reading/browsing can drain 40%), i use it mainly for browsing and reading because gaming is impossible (from one side it is good, because i can spend more time with my family ) ) i never take it out, mainly because of battery life..
So from one side i can live with it with my needs like reading, books and browsing, from the other side it lag's like hell, crashes and battery, well as i said...
So i tried to look for some more descent alternative (one of it could be eReader, but then i still would need another device for lazy browsing or some apps, so i'am more on the tablet side). So i checked what is on the market today and i could get Nexus 9 16 GB for about 300 EUR on Amazon. And as BlackFriday is landing i'am hoping for some discounts, so i'am wandering, should i grab Nexus 9 if it would be available for let's say 250 EUR? What concerns' me is how future proof will it be? Dual-core + 2GB ram seems to be pretty low for today. What i like that it is supported both by Google bot Custom ROM's, so while it is popular device it will have at least some support. But maybe it is too late to buy one today and be patient and wait for future device?
I don't feel like paying more than 300 EUR in any case for tablet, though i could afford it i just don't justify it as proper "investment"

UPD: What about new NVIDIA SHIELD K1? What is your opinion, seems like super deal for 200EUR? Maybe except screen size and aspect ratio.
300 Euros is way too expensive for this tablet. Even 250 is too much. If this tablet had a Nexus 5 level of speed and smoothness, it would be worth it. Unfortunately, on stock, it doesn't. As they haven't sorted it out properly in a year now, I don't think they ever will. :crying:
In the UK at the moment, Argos are selling the 16GB version for £150. This is a more reasonable price.
If you are on a budget, I'd also consider the LG V500. Its still on 4.4.2, but the performance is great and it has an SD Card slot. If you know where to look, you can pick one up for £100/145 Euro. the V510 from the US is even better. :victory:

Yes I take your point regarding LG. If you could get a V510, its a GPE device making it almost Nexus.
I cant comment on the Nvidia shield. It does seem strange to me however that the original Nexus 7 had memory issues and the Nexus 9 has memory issues. The both used Nvidia SoC as oppose to Snapdragon. Maybe just a coincidence? I've never had any issues with devices using SD SoC.

V510 from US would cost around 200EUR, and GPE seems to be dead already
New shield seems very interesting device... My hands are itching
I like the Nex9.
I bought the 32GB for $305 shipped and got a nice $12 case, so basically $320 total and I am very pleased. I was mainly concerned with battery life as I like to sometimes leave it alone for 3-4 days and want to have a charge.
I am on Pure Nexus ROM, but even on stock mra58n build I was able to leave it overnight and only lose 3-4% battery. So I can leave it around for say 5 days and still have at least 70% battery.
I get around 6 hours SOT so far from my use but I've only had it a short while so I expect it to only get better as it calibrates.
It has its faults, and something better I am sure may be on the way, but you may find a great deal on black Friday and I would jump on it.
When I saw the 40% off from HTC I did and am glad I did.

I was a frustrated N9 owner until MM. I still can't believe it! The lag has not returned as it always had within a month of each of my six wipes over the past 10 mos. I tried DU and ran Elementalx. Lag remained and reboots (up to 3x daily) continued. Each flash was a complete wipe. Chrome (I use beta) is still a battery hog--probably what causes the heat, but it's my choice to use it. My tab works the way it always should have. I'm running xposed with gravity box. Everything is running well. For the first time, I can recommend this tablet--especially if you can grab the next HTC 40% off deal over Thanksgiving.

i'm thinking of buying this tablet, buuut... i've heard about all the issues it have, backlight bleeding, bad back cover, mushy buttons, bad speakers... with all that i can live. ok, i'm lying, couldn't live with bad speakers, but i've found somewhere on xda that i should look for nexus with specific serial numbers and i found one with "good" serial number. so, that's resolved, too.
only issue i left out was overheating, because that's the issue i couldn't live with and the issue i would like to talk about. i'm not gonna go easy on that tablet coz i would be primarily using it for gaming. and not for candy crush but for some tegra optimized games, like doom or portal, so no ten mins toilet gaming, i'm talking about playing for 4 hours on that thing, or even more. playing when charging too.
i'd like to hear from owners who game on this device, if there are any, if my expectations can be met or i should go for shield tablet for which i heard has better thermal dissipation and doesn't throttle easily
If that's what you intend to use it for, purchase another tablet, and forget about the n9
Have a look at my thread "should I take back my nexus 9" for all the issues I've had recently as it relates to some of the negatives you're trying to avoid but for what you're going to be doing I'd go with another tablet like a nvidia shield maybe not as up to date as a nexus but its designed for gaming. But we're also approaching CES and MWC so you never know there might be a new tablet that comes out during the next 2-3 months.

Perhaps a Google's Pixel tablet may suit your needs if those nvidia-oriented games aren't exclusive to nvidia's chipset.
i've read about google pixel, and it looks that it's not so well optimised. plus it's pricey and it's not available in our country. the shield tablet looks like best bang for buck to me

If nothing Spike's your interests then go with the N9/shield tablet.
But do note the development of the shield tablet is like none existent.
N9 dispite it's problems it has a good community.
Just some thoughts to consider.
@USBhost, i don't dislike it either, but it's not good for my needs. in one point, i thought of buying both shield and nexus 9, one for gaming, one for reading, surfing and other light tasks. i like the idea of remix os on nexus 9, which looks fantastic.
many roms and kernels is not advantage for me, coz i got so occupied with flashing and tweaking that i was never satisfied and always wanted more. i owned nexus 6 and 6p, nexus 7, few galaxy devices... and all of them had many roms and stuff but like i said, never satisfied. now i have moto x pure/style, and i'm ok with few roms, they are ok for me.
and i saw shield's development, it's not that bad, even have some nougat roms, not without bugs, but there is some movement, so it's enough for me. could say that i'm getting too old for that sh*t. and too busy, i have two jobs and got only weekends for flashing, plus i need a stable device and shield looks more stable to me. in terms of hardware to be stable, not to suddenly die on me, or start acting funny
