Hi.
Few day ago I just get my Note 4 global version (Snapdragon 625). I decide to go for 4/64GB version instead more popular 3/32GB because I'm some kind if mutitask user as well more ram will let mi use this phone for longer perid of time.
Basically evertyhing is fine and I'm satisfied with my purchase but I noticed that RANDOM WRITE is qute low....
Most of the reviews that I read and watch about Note 4 Global /4X say that this smartphone get about 13MB/s of random write - my gets only about 7MB/s :/ - Sad in this is that this value has a great impact on the smooth operation of the phone.
Did enyone notice same slow speed on his phone? Maybe 3/32 version have better eMMC than 4/64?
I send in attachment my Androbench results and internal storage info.
Thank for reply
I am getting these results on 3/32 sd rn4 on latest RR rom.

So it's look like they use eMMC from a different suppliers, because your write speed look like this in the reviews :/
Can enyone with 4/64GB can post his results?
Here is mine.... 4 gig variant
Got this on RR 5.8.3 same score as miui global.

Thanks for reply! Can you check type of memory that you have in your phone usung "SD Insight" app?
Just wonder on fou got same Hynix emmc....
Thanks.
My random write speed is very low too! Note 4 Global (sd625 4gb/64gb) from Singapore running on latest stock firmware 8.2.5.0 not rooted.
Edited: I noticed that me and OP has higher RANDOM READ SPEED at around 70MB/s compared to the rest at 35MB/s.
So xiaomi uses different MMC?
It's either higher read speed and lower write speed or lower read speed and higher write speed
Same MMC brand as op

Same type of eMMC but so diffrent performance.
Yours Redmi is global version (just 4) or 4X???
U people realize if u want to test SSD u should do it without any processes running in background, that would mean removing the ssd chip from the phone and then testing it.. Running ssd benchmark in phone that is running hundreds of processes at a time and is using the ssd all the time is not reliable and extremely dumb to say the least.
But yeah whatever floats your boat.
Here are my results RN 4X 3/32
Sent from my Redmi Note 4x
And Antutu score....
Edit: haha it is not RN3 bcz I had it and I used Titanium Backup to restore Antutu

Would you say that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Very good even with 2gb ram
MTK note 4 is lightning fast. Never wait for anything. Gave SD version to wife.

Really constructive comment there.
And you would be wrong. The topic is "overall speed". No contest, the MTK wins hands down.
In fact, from experience, not what some other people "think", I can't think of one thing the QC version does better.
(Never) SLOW.
Running AOSPEx latest build on Mido 4/64gb Version, the antutu result is 64447.
I have the global version, I say the performance of this device is far better than my old Galaxy S5 G900F. But I do feel custom ROMs influence the performance quite a bit.
My Redmi Note 4X is very stable and fast.
I play many games like Real Racing 3 and I get a stable framerate (60fps).
fast enough for my needs: podcasts, email, gps, internet, skype, calls/texts, low res gaming.
Very fast and reliable in sustained operation.
I had my mido transcode a bunch of h264 videos using x265 (arm7l build). All 7 clips, each 41 minutes long were finished at 74-hour mark, tying the performance of S625 to similarly clocked Core2Quad.
So for all 74 hours the CPU was loaded at 100% and had not glitched or crashed the transcode.
Throttling was within acceptable limits, frequency fell down to 1689MHz once ambient reached 37°C and went up again to 2016MHz with 18°C ambient.
For geeks it might be a good idea to fix some thermal paste on the SOC to extend it to the back Al chassis for more effective dissipation. Stock dissipates more through the front screen than through the back panel.
It's not bad.

I own both versions and in day to day usage there's actually no difference in performance. So the snapdragon variant is better here.
LineageOS works great. Variant Snapdragon 4/64GB
My Mido Redmi Note 4 ia doing really well. it is only 3 Gb of RAM, but is satisfactory to my daily needs.
The performance of Redmi note 4 is fast and efficient in handling heavy games and apps, and the battery to keeps upto the mark, it has cool looking aesthetics and what else can I say??, it's the bang for the buck at that price range!!!
Hi,
I used to love my Kenzo 2 gb version, untill I found out that his 1,8 gb of ram are so so low. But, is that true?!
I mean 2 gb are the minimun requirement for MM or NG I think, but with miui, miui port, NG based rom (didn't try oreo, or lineage MM), custom kernel, anything the ram management is really really bad.
After only two days of usage, free ram became 200mb or even 100mb with no social media app (just telegram and instagram with no notification allowed) or anything. Doze, greenify, clear ram or not clear it, doesn't change the situation, used ram increase day by day untill the phone is laggy and unusable.
So you have to restart the phone at least every two day. It's crazy today.
On custom ng roms the situation is a bit better but on miui, damn, the ram is so full that sometimes I can't even open the keyboard or camera.
Every 2 gb phones has this issue? is an MM/NG problem? or is a kenzo problem? is there something I (or we) can do to menage ram more efficently (I don't want free ram, I want a ram used in the correct way).?
thank u
Very good question, i suggest you make manual tweaks to lmk (low memory killer), it has helped my rn3 2gb multitask better on oreo
Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using Tapatalk
I have too faced that problem. It's mainly due to ROMs. Some ROMs have lag no matter which kernel you use or how much tweak it. I have literally tried each and every custom rom which are updated and found only some ROMs which have less noticable lag. Default miui rom, aex, RR by movzx, nos some builds and Oreo, and slim rom. On other rom I tried different kernel and when tweaked it to max but still lagged as hell. Even opening dialer app sometimes froze the system leave aside heavy gaming. This is really serious issue on 2gb because of which we are restricted to certain ROMs.
I too have a 2GB kenzo, but never had such problems...currently using NOS Oreo and it is fluid & fast. Same on miui.
Right now system occupies around 700MB + around 400MB apps, rest is available. Never had RAM problems myself...luckily.
Buy MI device unlock bootloader next day > Flash custom ROMs > RIP ****UI
That is the main reason why I've changed my Kenzo 2gb. I wasn't able to use miui at all with this phone, app killing and lagging was a daily basis. So I used the most Ram friendly rom with this phone, but still keeping more than 3 apps in the memory was a problem.
Idk, but maybe it's because of the x64 architecture (similar to pc, this architecture uses more ram). I had many phones with 32gb and x32 architecture and ram was never an issue.
So trust me, I've tried everything to improve the ram efficiency, but not much has changed. The only solution for me to change the phone.

I don't know how to turn the lmk aggressive on radon I know that I have to edit the radon.sh script but I don't know what I have to write there.
Oreo I think is pretty unstable for me know better wait some months

Does ram to sd like some app works really i havent rooted my phone still on stock miui reply soon... I also face ram management problem on my kenzo 2gb
i have around 400-500 mb of free ram, i'm using greenify often and set background process limit to 4.
i uninstalled every apps that not really used and yeah less lag noticed
There's this 2 versions of Redmi 5 Plus ...
The 4gb version worths the invested money?
My doubts are:
- The 3gb ram can handle reopening browser (mainly Opera to me but could be Chrome aswell just for the sake of testing) without reloading the webpages each time??? If so please tell me..
- Should I choose the 4gb ? It has some other major improvements over the 3gb ram ?
I just don't want to waste money for no significant improvements. Thanks! :fingers-crossed:
I think it's more important 64gb storage than 4gb of ram
For me 32gb it's not enough.
There are many videos showing the miui memory management problems on YouTube. (look at the comparative VS videos).
3gb is fine with stock Android. But miui has very bad ram management. It closes background apps much faster than stock Android. So, if you need multi-tasking it's advised to go with the 4gb version.
(4gb on miui seems worse than 3gb on stock.)
I'm on 4gb and happy with it so far.
Edit: That being said, if you come back to your browser after open perhaps 4 or 5 apps you should be fine with 3gb. But get the 4gb to be on the safe side. The price difference is only 20 bucks anyway, so definitely worth it).

It would be nice if I get paid in dollars, lol.. 20$ turn into 100 R$ (my local currency) .. comparable to 100 dollars to someone who lives abroad. It worths the investment anyway..
I have a Xiaomi Mi Note 2 (but it fell off to the ground yesterday and stopped working :crying .. Before I had a Lenovo Zuk Z2.. both with 4gb ram... I ditched MIUI in favor of Resurrection Remix .. What I can remember is that disabling MIUI Ram Management in settings it can hold a lot of apps in memory.. but as I said, my experience was not with 3gb ram..
Those comparison videos are not clear if they disabled the MIUI Ram Management.. so it would probably hold the apps opened in background (even with 3gb ram)... With 4gb it's garanteed to do the job..
If anyone here with 3gb ram can tell us your experiences regarding ram management and disabling that option, I would appreciate..
For those who are in doubt over prioritizing memory VS storage.. I would go for memory.. as the storage is upgradeable (with sd card).. memory is not.. and it gives you more time range to spend with the chosen device :good:

been using the 3gb for some time now... it good for multitasking. 4gb is an overkill. you should go with the 4gb variant mostly because its 64gb memory, I don't think you'll notice a performance difference in because of the increased ram, tho it's always nice to have more ram; you never know when you might actually need it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

One guy achieved 290k on MIUI 10 China beta version so I think we can achieve it when we get the MIUI 10 stable build. Cause when mi6 was announced they told that it can achieve 182k but it even got 200k antutu score so I think there's a problem with the rom I guess. With custom roms it will perform like a beast.
I got from GSM Arena article that Mi8 is tuned for sustained performance and actual real world performance also, as after 10-15 minutes it even improved from 75% to 77%, but other Snapdragon 845 processors are tuned for benchmarks 5-10 mimutes performance and after that they fall down hard with crazy throttling...

Definitely not. 4GB would have been better, but 2GB should be enough for light ROMs and light use.
Please check what apps you are using.
Kick Facebook and other "always in background" apps from your device.
Use the original MIUI ROM or LineageOS.
Maybe try to avoid the Google Services.
Backup your favorit apps and don't install the Google Apps with the LineageOS ROM.
