Hello,
My sister accepted the update 3 days ago and it failed. She had an error message with the android logo.
I tried PC companion but received an error from this app. I used flash tools from Androxyde with 2 different ftf but received everytime the same error :
04/005/2017 14:05:08 - ERROR - Processing of modem.sin finished with errors.
04/005/2017 14:05:08 - INFO - Flashing finished.
04/005/2017 14:05:08 - INFO - Please unplug and start your phone
04/005/2017 14:05:08 - INFO - For flashtool, Unknown Sources and Debugging must be checked in phone settings
Now if I power on the phone, I have this error message in red : your devive has failed verification and may not work properly.
I need help !!!
Make sure you are flashing the correct firmware for the device, It should still be recoverable at this point.
Is it solved already? I am having the same problem
EDIT: it's ok now. i just reflashed it.
Use a another firmware
One question, where do you find the Driver for flashtool?
I choose every option but the program still ask for drivers

I called myself being a good little customer and not hacking my phone but this is not helping my cause.
I just realized that the 2.1 update is finally available so i'm going through the steps to back up my stuff before updating and its saying I need to check a "unknown sources" box to allow a backup program to run.
Well, its not on my phone. I know they took it out to prevent people from dl'ing non android apps, The the crap i'm trying to get is legit from Ericssons website.
so, how the hell do I download this backup program?
This is the phone i'm running:
Xperia-X10a
firmware-1.6
baseband-version 1.132
kernal version-2.6.29-relsemc- #2
build number-R2CA016
Att blocks it
Lol yeah buddy your screwed. Just update to generic though
Sent from my x10 on gingerbread
I'm running branded 2.1 for AT&T. I've tried to flash the generic from AT&T but flashtool says to check debugging (done) and unknown sources. How can I check unknown sources if there is none?
HELP!!!
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller??
AT&T disables and hides the ability to install apps from 'unknown sources.'
However if you root your AT&T X10a, you can enable the feature even though its confirmation will remain hidden.

Install BOTH PC Companion and Update Service (they contain drivers or else your phone won't be recognized).
Download ADB, unzip and use the command prompt:
adb install file.apk

Flashing wipes everything on the phone and there doesn't require Unknown Sources.
Is the flash even successful?
You MUST have both PC Companion and Update Service installed to even use FlashTool.

Did you go into flash mode when it asked or before it asked? As I used to have same flashing abort problem too, when I did not go into flash mode properly when flashing.
1) Take out battery of phone then put it back in
2) Get your flashtool waiting for your phone to go into flash mode
3) Now just do what flashtool instruction says on how to get into flash mode
That's how it works for me
Hope it helped somehow~

BoiseMCSS,
I think the problem you are having is that you are already on AT&T's X10a Android 2.1 build which has 'unknown sources' disabled and hidden. If I'm not mistaken, this will prevent you from using FlashTool to root since FlashTool requires 'unknown sources' and 'USB debugging' to be enabled first.
Are you sure you don't want to just flash your X10a with the Sony Ericsson world generic Android 2.1 build instead? This would completely replace your AT&T build, but it would give you 'unknown sources' enabled and not hidden, and you'd still be able to use your phone on AT&T's network.
To flash your phone to SE world generic 2.1, you'd need:
FlashTool 0.2.9.1 Beta: http://www.multiupload.com/7H4JT35B6G (mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746)
X10a world generic 2.1 build with dual-touch: http://www.multiupload.com/9H20YEXEHR (mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746)
Sony Ericsson Update Service: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup...s/subject/updateservice/xperiax10?cc=gb&lc=en
Then just follow the instructions here to flash and root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1012380
You shouldn't have to worry about 'unknown sources' to flash to the generic build since your phone is off and in flash mode when performing the wipe. For root - which you would do after flashing - you would need 'unknown sources' enabled, but this shouldn't be a problem after flash since the generic build has this available in Settings.
I've been using the SE world generic Android 2.1 image on my AT&T X10a for months with absolutely no problems. The entire flashing and rooting process took about 10 to 15 minutes.
After you root this particular generic build, you can remove some of the bloatware and then optimize it (which is covered in the flash and root guide above).

Yes I am already on AT&T 2.1. I've used Root Explorer and SQLite to get to the "unknown sources" line and changed the value from 0 to 1. So I've tried everything in this thread with no luck.
Thanks for the attempt but...
nope, followed instructions to a T and it still gives me the "check unknown sources" error.
Anybody else?
@zyonasan : Google "Sideload Wonder Machine" it can install apps past the att block. Push the backup & restore to your phone with that. Or there are many alternatives free on the marketet.
I can't remember if there is an apk root method for 2.1 but if there is you can push it to your phone with Sideload Wonder Machine then go through the steps described to enable unknown sources as described above.
@BoiseMCSS : Are you using an FTF file to flash? Kinda seems like your loader.sin is missing or something, how it just stops... Maybe ask & post your log in the flashtool thread?
&
I think flashtool always puts this at the end whether it works or not:
xx... - INFO - Now unplug the device and power it on
xx... - INFO - Then go to application settings
xx... - INFO - turn on Unknown Sources and Debugging
I don't think you need these enabled to flash, it is just good practice to enable them after a flash to be prepared to root/mod your phone etc...

OK, loader.sin was missing. I'm downloading a new .435 and we'll see how that goes.
That was it!! The .ftf I had was a bad one and didn't have loader.sin. The different one I downloaded worked. So now I have to wait for X10a generic 2.3.3.
Thank you to all that helped!!!

Glad it worked. You don't necessarily have to wait for x10a firmware but I can understand wanting to have the 'right one' for your model.

There's a button for that
In the beginning i must say that i did search around but no solution finded..
So that happened: after i finished call, on my screen appeared that "Androin stopped work" (or something like that) Then i set my phone to REBOOT and phoned turned off but not on. Well i tried it manually but after pushing upper on/off button just short vibrate and nothing, phone remains black. Not even booted to CWM.
Well in similar cases usually i try to reflash kernel or rom via Flashtool or use repair phone option in Sony Update Service and go back to 2.3.
None of that this time worked for me...
Flashtool showed that error:

First, I don't know if we use the same Update Service. Because, in my SEUS also says that there is no newest software available, to be precise: "Your phone already have latest software". But, also says: "If you are experiencing problems with your product we recommend that you re-install the software". And "INSTALL" button shows up in the right-down corner. Click and reinstall Stock Rom. And you are not the only person who complain about this issue with SEUS. Look in pictures, and tell me if it's a same version of SEUS, and does this windows appears in your SEUS.
Here are some screenshot to aprove this claim:

Hi mate, in flash tools did check "no final verifications" its on bottom right before you flash? Because I've just flash firmwares and same thing happen to me. It's fixed by re flashing and check the "no final verication"

I i tried like you said. But still the same error..
After using flashtool to upgrade to ICS (Generic CE2 World from here), I heard that it was then best to use SEUS to force an install/repair in order for it to run as quickly as possible.
This started to work and then half way through just failed. So I tried again and it just failed.
The phone then wouldn't turn on.
So figured I'd re-flash using flashtool and start again - only this got 1/2 way through and also failed with the message:
18/059/2013 09:59:32 - ERROR - ERR_SEVERITY="MAJOR";ERR_CLASS="MEMORY_CLASS";ERR_STATIC="HASH_VER";ERR_DYNAMIC="Block verification failed";
Now when the phone turns on a get a warning triangle and a picture of a phone....
What's the next step!?

Phone model ? Did your pc has your phone's driver installed ?
Xperia Mini Pro
All drivers installed - used the same PC and Flashtool to do the initial flash yesterday.
Then repair by SEUS failed - which is when the problems started.
Now SEUS fails and so does flashtool - using exactly the same file/setup as yesterday.
I've downloaded a stock GB firmware instead but get another error instead now, that it can't read the headers.
hmmm

try flashing ftf via flashtool
Hello,
I have a Sony Xperia U and I try to install a new firmware but I can't.
When I use flashtool, i have this message :
Current device : ST25i - YT900389W7 - 1261-7887_R2E - 1254-3522_6.0.B.3.184 - WORLD_6.0.B.3.184

I tried to re install the drivers, to change the cable, to change the firmware, to use an other version of flashtool but it didn't work. I had already installed 3 firmwares before without any problem.
My phone is out of use, the apps keep closing, i cannot delete or save things on my phone because when I switch it on, it comes back to the previous setting.
My bootloader is locked and i can't unock it because of my rooting status is "NOT allowed" (operator...).
These past 3 weeks i couldn't use my phone, please help me!
Thank you

In what stage exactly does PCC tell you to try again, does it begin the flash process and fails(after you connect with volume up) or before?

When I use PCC, it downloads the update, then it tells me to disconnect my phone, to switch it off (and wait 5 s), then connect it with the button - (volume down) pressed.
After few seconds "an error had occured" and it proposes me to try again. It is the error number 100. So I think the flash process fails after the connection.
When I use flashtool, it's the same : after connecting the phone with the volume down button pressed, the error "flush failed" above appears.
I noticed that i cannot delete nor add any file in my phone, maybe the problem comes from the storage? Even when I restore the factory defaults, nothing happens, i still have the apps.
Thanks for helping me

Hi, there is no way to fix it with a software. I give it to my operator and they changed the mother card in the phone. So be really careful when you use falshtool...

has unlocked bootloader; -I've used through Adroid SDK toolkit and I didn't see any errors :

Sony PC Companion - it desires an update and won't work unless it can get one, I was thinking that it it uses different server for updates and different for firmware downloading I can use that, not sure if worth the effort see EDIT
Xperia Companion - turns of my phone, asks for connecting in flash mode aaaaand never goes to the next step ("simulated battery remove trick" does not help either)
OTA - won't come in, I've tried a number of tricks including clearing data on Google Services Framework (or something) rebooting a phone having it turned off and so on
great number of factory resets
Should I through this worthless **** away or there is something else I can try?
EDIT:
When I tired to use Sony PC Companion (blocking internet access on startup) I was able to start the procedure but I got an error saying that Sony Update Engine could not be installed (and some error code here)
open up the flash tool and then click on the lighting in the top left corner then click flash and select your frimware to flash... wait for it to finish the make sure that your phone is not connected to PC and turned off,,, a pop up will come up that says you have to press volume down and hold it while you are connecting you usb to pc then it should flash it if not then i dont know whats your problem lol haha

Totally not helped. Thanks for making me believe for a second that someone has actually helped and this forum actually has some helpful people. Faith in humanity restored (for a split second).

And mysteriously enough I'm failing to follow those steps? This error is not totally uncommon and you could have given a number of suggestions what it is that I 'm doing wrong (releasing volume down to early, wrong firmware or perhaps trying stimulated battery removal) instead of that you've given all the steps that I must have known before (without them I couldn't be able to produce the log that is shown above).
If you consider your post a genuine attempt of helping I'd humbly advise you reconsidering what you consider help.
Although I do appreciate that you gave it a try anyway and I mean it.
