Hey all i am looking to make a small modification to the kernal on the 2.3.5 so that in can be installed on a spreadtrum chipset "feature phone" if any one can help please message me .. as I said I am willing to pay up to 1k
Not gonna happen. 2.3.5 was never an official android build and if there was no OS for that device you won't have any working drivers at all for it so can't build a kernel for it.

I have been breaking my head on finding some guide on how to upgrade earlier version of android kernel to new one. I find out that it can be done with patching(???) with some files that will include new kernel files to old kernel and upgrade it to another newer version. In my case I have tegra device with 2.6.32 kernel but there's nvidia tegra git and newer kernel versions(even 3.0) I think that files like this or this are kernel patches?
Please, help me?!?!
If this isn't feasible, please, tell me, I won't break my head anymore!!!
Thanks
Jon
First, if this thread should be in general can someone move it pls.
Now to my question. I know that for example the samsung galaxy s has a similar hw as our phones and can have the new kernel, but i never saw a kernel for our phones higher than 2.6. Does anybody know if we can or cant(and why) use the new version cause it has a better security system
Some developers are working on a 3.0 kernel and there are already some threads about that
Sent from my Nexus 7 running Android 4.2.1
Porting kernel is not a simple task. Fxp team whom currently working on the project to bring kernel 3.x to xperia 2011 gen said it would take atleast six months, or would take forever ie it would never come to our phone.
is it really necessary?
Do we really need kernel 3.0 on our devices?
because I have read here and they say its almost same as old kernel "OR SAME AS OLD KERNEL "

I have some sources of mediatek 6577 base kernel also boot.img of kernel 3.4, but not able to build the, maybe because i m noob, or maybe there is not a perfect guide to start making kernel from source of mediatek, i m wanted to make kernel 3.4 for lenovo a390, because i want to run reall jellybean on that phone, i also have jellybean for mtk6577 (from ZTE) but whenever i installed that rom they could not boot, on boot screen the boot logo looks like mirrored, i m try my best, but no success, if someone please help me, so i m done any work for him, like (i m webmaster, now just entering in the android development)

No i m not, because i dnt know about toolchains, whenever i tried to build kernels commands said (makefile command not found) and many more makefile error, /usr/bin error.
So i dnt know what shud i do.
If you are able to do this, this is very helpfull to me, because i want to make a rom that really 4.1.1 / 4.2.2 / 4.4.3 based for lenovo A390
THANKS for REPLY

Hey all!
Recently I got my hands on a chinese GT-I9502 clone... I'm kinda new to rom and recovery cooking and I'm willing to spend hours on learning how to build an android ROM. So here is my question: Is it possible to build a ROM/Recovery for a phone without released sources or device tree? I was able to find kernel sources for my chipset (MT6589)... dunno if it can help...
Thanks in advance (I hope you will keep my hopes up! ^^ )
P.S. - Take a look at that rhyme in the title!

Sounds like a MTK phone, in that case you can do MIUI and maybe CoS and Lewa but outside of that you're probably out of luck
cynagenmod for mtk
I think Cynagenmod not supprt in mtk... So u can port other rom like touchwiz, xperia, miui. But u cant use cynagenmod at mtk...if some one port cynagenmod for mtk bt it will not work perfcty ...n full of bug...
I'm a mt6582 phone, specifically the Avvio 795.
I put this here because my phone does not have an assigned subforum, do not know or God.:fingers-crossed:
what happens is that this brand does not support your phone with updates, as most of Chinese phones , and my intention is to give life back to my cell, with a new kernel and a new version of Android.
What I need is to tell me what I need for this (kernel stock, programs, a brain . Etc ...) and obviously as I get these things, because by that mark, does not share the "source code" of your devices then I need to know if the boot.img can be done or not. Or at least as I can get required for this mission.
Thanks... bros...
As this OEM doesn't release kernel source code you are pretty much out of luck as you would have to build all the files from scratch with no help from anyone. This is why developers won't buy any device with this chip.
