please how do i enable cell broadcast on this phone? i cant seem to locate the feature anywhere.
i need it because my home network gives good discounts on cell broadcast for calls
Hi,
everytime when I have to go by sybway/metro, I loose my data network mode, it switches from 3G to GPRS or EDGE but doesn't work. Receiving phone calls works without problem, only the data network mode is not working/avaible while in metro/subway stations.
Anyone an idea?
Firmware is 2.3.5 KI3, location Germany.
It's relatively easy to disable data roaming on an Android device in the "Wireless & networks" settings section, but the phone still tries to connect to other services via roaming like voice and SMS. Is there a way to disable ALL roaming whatsoever? I know about airplane mode, but that completely disables all connectivity, and it's also annoying to have to remember to keep turning airplane mode off and on again when I enter/leave the vicinity of this network. I'd like to be able to connect to my network but not allow any roaming.
Why disable? Becuase the network offering the roaming isn't one I trust, as I think it may be intercepting and recording my data. So I don't want my phone to use it.
It seems Windows Mobile has a relatively straightforward to do this by selecting "Don't roam". If Android doesn't have any option to do this (no, not Airplane mode - that disables ALL comms!), then that is a rather annoying lack of a feature!
This might not be the answer you are looking for but your operator should provide some means to prevent roaming completely; your phone then would not be able to access any other network for any service apart from emergency call.
Hi,
I live in India and the biggest network provider here 'Airtel' has started charging insane data charges on VOIP calls. I want to know if there are ways to hide VOIP data packets and mask them as regular data packets? Will VPN(any free/affordable options?) help or they can still detect VOIP packets through deep packet inspection?
Is it possible to change the dialer preference based on location (or maybe even other conditions) via Tasker or anything like it?
E.g.:
If the phone is connected to certain Wifi networks, it should use Skype as the dialer.
If the phone is NOT connected to these Wifi networks, e.g. if it is connected via cellular, then it should dial using the "normal" phone dialer.
