This can be tricky, especially in modern android where you have a choice to make: Do you want an almost all Google OS or do you want AOSP OS?
These days, when you install your gapps, it uninstalls the CM apps unless you only use PICO. (which is just the basic for playstore functionality) Google will replace stock apps like Calendar, Calculator, Launcher, Browser, Clock, etc.
Personally, I try to limit Google and use AOSP, but the choice is yours.

No worries, there are a lot of hardware functionality issues. The camera doesn`t work etc...what can i do?
Go to http://opengapps.org/ and choose ARM architecture, the select 7.0 (android version). The choice of package is yours, but I personally like to use the aroma package. Even tough the touch functionalities sometimes glitch and I need to use the volume keys, you can choose everything you want, from apps to install to if you want to remove ROM default apps.

I personally love ResurrectionRemix because of its stability and customizability. About LineageOS I can't say much, since I only used that for something like 2 weeks, just to test.

If you get that error while installing RR(or any other ROM), it means that the installer script checked if your device is compatible with that ROM and it is not. Did you download the right ZIP for your device?
I think you can also get that error if you didn't wipe the necessary partitions. Usually you need wipe "/system", "/data" and "/cache". Make sure to make a backup of them before wiping.

VanillaAOSP
This ROM is built straight from Google sources without any changes/modifications.
Please feel free to flash it on your device or use it as a base for your own custom ROM if need be.
I don't plan on making any changes to the ROM or adding any features etc. I usually run the factory image on my device unrooted a lot of the time. I just love the vanilla android simplicity and ease of use. I also really enjoy AOSP as well, so vanilla AOSP works for me. Enjoy.
Instructions
1. Have the latest TWRP installed on your device
2. Full wipe if coming from another ROM (make sure not to wipe internal storage)
3. Flash ROM
4. Flash Gapps
5. Flash SuperSU
6. Enjoy

The factory image from Google comes with all Google proprietary apps and services pre installed.
ROMs built from AOSP source don't have any Google apps installed at all. All the apps are open source. So there is AOSP calendar, AOSP Dialer, AOSP Gallery, AOSP Camera, Keyboard etc etc.
If you want Google apps you can flash separately in a custom recovery.

So to be clear, this has just AOSP GApps right? Will GApps remove the AOSP apps when flashed?

The ROM itself comes with AOSP camera which does not have HDR+. The Gapps package also does not include Google Camera. However, Google Camera can be downloaded from the at Store and it does provide HDR+ capabilities. I just tried it out and it worked. Thanks.

I guess it depends which Gapps package you choose to flash whether it removes the AOSP apps. The SimpleAOSP Gapps I linked to earlier does not remove the AOSP apps. If I am not mistaken I believe PA Gapps will remove AOSP apps. So depends what you want and which gapps you choose to use. Whichever suits you best.

Is there any way to install Google dialer and contact in a rooted stock tw rom?
I've tried to install the apk but it doesn't work.
Well, not long ago I read google had put them both on google play but pulled them back again. I believe they might be putting them back on the store so anyone can download them.
I know but in the play store don't show they because are imcompatibles.

Yes. You will flash it via a custom recovery and it will "install" it for you. It won't remove the stock contacts app.

Thanks for the response! I did try the non-rooted google assistant, and it will work if I hold down on the home button, but I am not able to get it to work with voice input from any screen by saying "OK Google." That option is grayed out for me in settings. Again, I only have this issue with android 8.1 roms. 8.0 roms work great for me. Thanks again for the response!!

Downsizing!
I had completely forgotten... you can force any version of opengapps to install as a "smaller" version of the package by including a text file (UTF-8 created in regular ol' windows notepad worked for me) with the following path & name:
Code:
/sdcard/Open-GApps/gapps-config.txt
...and including a keyword for the 'downsized' package you want to install, in my case the Micro variant:
Code:
# Downsizing the 12/15 mini build to micro
MicroGApps
The # turns that line into a comment; everything else on that line is ignored.
Aroma installer doesn't work quite right in TWRP for my device (ZUK Z2 Pro), but I can take a Super or Stock or Mini or whatever larger-than-Micro install and turn it into Micro just by putting that text file with those lines in it in the right directory before flashing the opengapps package.
Here's a link to the documentation for more tricks like including or excluding specific packages:
https://github.com/opengapps/opengapps/wiki/Advanced-Features-and-Options
Hope this helps!
