Hi guys,
i just unlocked my Moto Z and installed TWRP (3.1.x). So far everything was fine. Then i installed CrDroid even tho i was not able to decrypt my storage.
Now i can't boot my phone, i just can't remove the encryption with a factory reset. The ROM always stops with an error message and a non functional "Reset Phone" button.
I'm totally lost here :/. Is there any ROM that i could use to "break" the encryption?

I did ran into this on my SGS5 after encrypting... boot into TWRP, select "Wipe" from main menu and then "Format Data", this will - obviously - wipe all your data on phone...but seems like you've got no other choice.
Reflash any ROM you want after that.
hope this helps/works for you too
Well, that worked! I wiped before i installed the ROM but not afterwards. I didn't even had to flash the ROM again.
Thank you!

Hi,
I have a big problem. I was trying to install the newest Renovate ROM, and I think I did everything correctly. I pasted the ROM into my phone's storage, booted into recovery, and installed it choosing the "update only" option (I had Renovate 2.1 before).
Everything seemed fine, except rebooting the phone takes me to recovery, and every reboot option I could find always reboot me to recovery. I can also get to the bootloader, but eventually I ended up back at recovery...
What should I do? I have a Nandroid backup of the phone before I flashed Renovate 5.0, should I full wipe the phone and restore that backup?
Any help would be appreciated.
You should read before you mess with your phone.

Restore your nandroid as long as all was working well before your issue.
Running basic rom, "LG V10 H901-10c Debranded, Debloated, Deodexed ROM - Clean & Stable"
TWRP 2.8.1, unlocked bootloader, all working well for a while now.
Booted into TWRP to do a backup before I loaded TWRP 3.0.0. Backup successful.
Tried to reboot the phone. I get the LG 'bootloader unlocked' screen. Then I get the LG startup screen but everything hangs there. Phone will not boot into rom.
I only did TWRP backup...nothing else...what could be the problem?? How can I get back to normal.
Thanks!
Have you tried clearing dalvik cache? That happened to me before and simple clearing resolved my issue
Thanks! Just tried that, no joy!
Are you sure you didn't touch the "Fix Contexts" button in TWRP? That will break the ROM.
Just boot into TWRP and flash my ROM again, it should go back to normal.
That did it!! Thanks siraltus!!
Hi, after installing a custom rom with TWRP and reboot my Note 4, the phone asks me for a password to start Android. Not matter what password I enter, I get the message the password is correct, but there is a problem with the encryption and i have to reset to factory . The only way to go on is the button "Reset phone". If I press the button it goes back to TWRP. I tried several times to make a full wipe and flash the custom rom once more, allways the same problem. I flashed the correct actual stock rom. Everything works fine, no problems.
So I tried this several times with different custom roms. Allways the same problem - android password, allways ok and allways the problem with the encryption.
Is there any idea, how to solve this problem?
Regards Robert

Update your TWRP and use the latest OrangeFox
did you format data? or just factory reset, you must format data and internal storage!

Thank you all for your help. With the actual TWRP and format data it works. I'll try OrangeFox too.

i have the same issue, tried different recovery projects, OFRP and TWRP. both seem to have the same issue, with the message "encryption unsuccessful" and if i tried to press the "RESET DEVICE" button i get stuck in a boot loop.
i also factory reset my device, formatted everything via the recovery project menu then booted into recovery and installed the CUSTOM ROMS.
tried also to DFE but nothing seem to change even with encryption disabled.
but i scarcely manged to bypass this issue by; after wiping everything boot into recovery and install whatever rom you want and install gapps after it, better still install firmware vendor if the rom of your choice doesnt include them.
never mind, i fixed it.
in my case i was trying to flash LineageMicroG 16 on my Device and i kept getting that error and i did the following to fix it;
wiped everything and wrote "yes" to format the date and swiped for a factory reset through recovery wipe option then i booted into recovery and flashed LineagemicroG 16 after that i flashed optimus drunk kernel and booted into system and everything seemed to work fine, the kernel is what fixed the problem.
Hey all, so it appears that I screwed my phone, I am not sure how.
I was running LineageOS, and wanted to update to Android 10 one, so I followed the steps, and I think I screwed the sideloading part, so... long story short now when rebooting from OrangeFox RecoveryProject it says no OS detected, and when it boots it says encryption unsuccessful, I tried wiping and installing DisableForceEncryption_Treble_v17.2 and restarting, and the same thing happens.
I tried to flash through recovery both, and did not work:
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/firmware/beryllium/
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/archive/vendor/beryllium/
And when trying to flash through miFlash it doesn't work:
I go to fastboot in poco, hit refresh in miflash, it shows a device in the list, but the phone goes dark with 'something key to shutdown` written in the top left corner and if I hit the flash button nothing happens.
Can anyone assist with that please?

This happened to me when I accidentally deleted the OS when flashing the latest MIUI 11 build (using TWRP). THIS IS HOW I FIXED IT.
Find a full firmware of whatever you wanted to flash, either Lineage or MIUI 11. Then flash via your recovery (you said you have orangefox). Use an external sd card, external USB or HDD since you technically wouldn't have access to your internal data. After flashing, same process as most updates, clear cache and dalkiv. Then flash a newer DFE (if you still want to decrypt, there is a page here in xda with it. Or go to miui forums Happybuddhist, the mod there, made a new one prebuilt with Magisk). Then reboot into recovery to make sure you keep your custom recovery. Once booted to recov. Boot to system. Should fix the issue.
You could check my guide here on how to unbrick your pocophone:

I tried that, now I am a step forward I think, I flashed the stock firmware I found, and installed the latest stock ROM, rebooted (doesn't say no os anymore), but the only thing I see is a DELETE ALL DATA button and at the bottom 'Encryption was interrupted and can't be completed. As a result, the data on your phone is no longer accessible.
To resume using your phone, you need to perform a factory reset. When you set up your phone after the reset, you'll have an opportunity to restore any data that was backed up to your Google account.'

So I had an OS-less phone that don't get recognised in MiFlash, and I had orangeFox recovery.
The steps to fix were:
- Flash a full stock Firmware
- Flash the stock ROM
- Flash DFE
- Format data to ext4
- Reboot and it works
So thanks all for your help
