I am using the Consumer Cellular variant of the phone (it was my dad's) and followed the guides to convert it to OEM, then upgraded to Lollipop, then flashed Lineage OS. I am trying to reactivate the phone on CC, but it is asking for a SIM network unlock pin, even though the phone has only ever been used on CC.
I was on the phone with CC and they gave me all the unlock codes they could but none worked. Do I have to go back to one of the stock ROMs, or even back to a CC rom in order to get this to work?
It will be a couple days before CC gets in more pins to try and I don't want to wait just to find out the issue is because I am on a non-stock ROM or because Lineage can't do the SIM unlock. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I ended up having to go back to stock, then once I unlocked the sim, I was able to go back to Lineage without any issues.

I had my S2 unlocked via software while I was abroad to use the local SIM card - the person who did it couldn't unlock it, first blaming the phone as rooted and then hardware as damaged. Instead they made it worse, the phone doesn't connect to any network, whatever SIM card I use. At the time I was using a rooted custom ROM (Rootbox) v4.2.
I found if I use a stock ROM, even if rooted, it connects to phone networks and is unlocked to any SIM card. As you may know, the S2 can only upgrade to v4.1.2 if stock.
I have been going around in circles trying different kernels and ROMs. I would rather use v4.2 than stick with v4.1.2... Rootbox v4.2 used to work fine before trying to unlock the phone.
I have used the 'GalaxSim Unlock' app, in case the unlock process was only partial. I also tried to find if I could relock the phone back to the original network, by removing the EFS folder.
Does anyone know why this is happening? Thank you in advance.
Phone was originally SIM locked to T-Mobile.
Does anyone have an idea why this is happening?
Or has had it happen to them in the past?
The IMEI number is still intact.
Just purchased an HTC One and an unlock code, and upon inserting a T-Mobile sim card into the slot, I do not receive the Sim Network Unlock Pin request menu, instead I receive an error Phone Not Allowed MM #6 which I've read means the phone has a bad IMEI, but the phone works flawlessly with my AT&T Sim card meaning it cant be a bad IMEI. Am I just a noob and missing one simple step? I've rooted hundreds of phones and im coming from my HTC One X rooted and unlocked, so if anyone can help please respond as soon as possible, as I said I already have my unlock code, just unable to attain the input menu, the phone is NOT stolen.
Thanks so much,

Does anyone on earth have a clue whats going wrong? I sat on the phone with AT&T, HTC, and T-Mobile for hours and no one has a clue why I'm not being asked for my unlock code upon inserting the sim card, please I cant be the only person who has had this issue, i have now tried many hard reboots, unlocked boot loader, even flashed maximus 7 HD to try and reset the counter and still no luck.

I also recently bought an AT&T HTC One from Craiglist. When I inserted a T-Mobile SIM card it prompted me to enter the unlock code, which I entered then the phone rebooted and it no longer asked me for the unlock code.
BUT, i was not able to get a signal and got the MM #6 error.
The error apparently can be from the phone being black listed. in my case the phone is not blacklisted.
The other reason, it seems, since the phone was bought from AT&T with subsidies, AT&T will not allow the phone to be used on t-mobile.
Had the previous owner requested the unlock code before selling it then it would have been unlocked.
For now, I am using it with aio for $40/month which is pretty good.
Regards,
So my mother-in-law has a Straight Talk SGH-959G. She needed to get it SIM unlocked, so she took it to a phone repair shop where it stayed for about a month. He successfully unlocked it, but the wifi didn't work, so he said he would fix it that day. When she got it back it still didn't work, so she gave it to me to fix. It looks like he installed an at&t rom, because it shows the logo when it boots up. However, the first thing that shows up when the phone turns on is that it is an i9100.
I figured the wifi would work with a different rom, so I installed this one (5.0.2 CyanideL for i777) and it works amazing. But every time it turns on, it asks for the SIM unlock code and doesn't recognize the SIM card. I tried a few different apps to get the unlock code, but none have worked.
Any ideas? Do I need to get it from another source, and if so, does anyone know someone that sells unlock codes for straighttalk phones?
Thanks!

If you didn't know, the rom is fairly new so bug like this could happen. Secondly, the rom is for i777 only, you have SGH-959G which they are not exactly the same. '
Try using this rom instead (if liquidsmooth has problems): http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2-att/development/rom-carbonrom-sgh-i777-sgh-959g-t2845008
or this one (use this one first): http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal.../rom-liquidsmooth-v3-2-sgh-i777-959g-t2865888
Sorry for taking so long...
Neither of those worked. They both optimized the apps and then rebooted to an infinite boot animation.
So I got a consumer cellular mate 2, and I ordered the the unlock code, but while waiting for the unlock code I unlocked the bootloader and converted it to a normal mate 2. I thought since it was sim locked, I could just wait for the unlock code to come and unlock it like normal. I tried to put my sim in, and it won't read a sim anymore. Not sure what I should do now. When I did the conversation I backed up the files for CC, but somehow deleted them off my phone. If I find a way to flash back to CC, will my sim work again when I get the unlock code.
Or do I have a paperweight.
Thanks for the help guys.

The conversion would not have an effect on sim. Try a different sim.
Before I did the conversion when I put my sim in, it asked me for a code. Now that I converted its not even showing there is a sim in it. It doesn't ask for a code anymore.
I don't get it.

Try a different sim. The conversion has nothing to do with sim. If it isn't picking it up it is inserted wrong or has bad contacts etc.
Well I tried 2 different SIM cards and it did not work. Took the phone apart to ch ck the connections. Is there a way I can flash it back to stock consumer cellular rom?
If so is there a place I could get it from?
Thanks for the help guys.
Can anybody point me to a download of the stock consumer cellular rom?
Thanks
If you flashed CC to stock you are stuck on stock. When you converted you had to flash OEM.ZIP which changed the partitioning. Noone has made a zip to revert back.
Ok thanks, I guess I have a paperweight now, I still don't get it why it won't read the sim after the conversion. Guess I leared a lesson, unlock before messing with it.
So I have a deactivated CC SIM card, it will read that, and you can get into the mobile network screen. I put in my att sim and it doesn't even show there is a sim in it. Now I really don't get it.
MY only suggestion is Install stock recovery and run B322 update. This will put you to stock B322 rom. Try unlocking at that time.
I do have stock recovery, and on B322 firmware.

Use the code in the dialer app and try to enter the unlock code there. That is the standard method.
Ok I will try that when I get home, the only problem is that when I put my ATT sim in, it doesn't even show there is a sim in. So I put my Att sim in and put the code into the dialer? Then what do I do?
So tried the dialer thing, it just put numbers in and did nothing.
Guess I'm just screwed.
Thanks for the idea..
Could still be something with the ATT sim.
I tried a t-mobile sim also, won't recognize any sim except CC sim
CC has been back and forth on wether L will come to CC mate 2. IF they do you may be able to get back to stock flashing their update. Still trying to get a solid answer on if it is coming or not.

I will try to make a backup of the wife's CC Mate 2. It is stock cc 4.3. Then you can restore it.
That would be so cool if you could. Thanks for all the help you have given me.
NP. You will need the twrp from the conversion thread to restore it back to CC.
I just got a Galaxy Light for free that I am setting up for a friend, and right after I got it, I flashed it to TWRP, and put in Tiger Lily, then went to CM12. When I popped in her sim (ATT) It didn't do anything, and as far as teh phone was concerned, no sim card existed. I couldn't get into mobile network settings due to the "insert sim card to access network settings" error, except on CM12, where I got the "User does not have permissions to edit APN" message. I did eventually get a few codes to work and got to the basic service menu, where I could verify it was reading a radio. I have tried Tiger Lily, 2 different CM12 builds, and Stock 4.4.2, and it doesn't seem to read the Sim at all. Also, all builds except stock give a blank IMEI when I check it with *#06#. I am thinking it is unlocked, as i don't get a code request, and I swear it was on Boost when I got it, though it could just not be reading the sim. I tried a few other older Sim's, with the same issue, though I don't know if any were tmobile or metro variants.
I am downloading the 4.2.2 firmware now, to retry regionlockaway with the older modem, but, looking to see if anyone has any input on this. Any way to see if it is unlocked or not? I don't want to buy an unlock code if it is already unlocked, plus I can't get to any of the unlock screens.
Most of what I read is so old, that it doesn't apply, so updated info would be awesome. Thanks!

After downgrading to 4.4.2 (T399NUVUANK3_CL2903595_QB2893704_REV00) I did get the sim unlock prompt again. If anyone knows of any software unlocks, would love to know them, else gonna buty an unlock code if I can get a recommendation. Thanks!
For anyone needing the SGH-T399N stock firmware for the Metro edition, here is a link, as it was hard to find. I kept getting T-mobile versions, which will lock you at the boot logo.
