There are security measures on the phone through knox to stop us from rooting this phone. Carrier specific I think to Verizon and AT&T looks like we might have to wait a while

Comparable to the note 4? I would have thought it would be a little easier since the s6 on Verizon is already rooted?

Yes 5.02 had the exploit which was patched in the 5.1.1 update. And to add insult to injury if you flashed to 5.1.1 there's no flashing back (even using ODIN with stock builds) to 5.02. A lot of people permanently lost root this way.
I read that Verizon and AT&T will not boot anymore if rooted. It will show a black screen and message that the phone was rooted.

Yes it is, but I don't root anyway. I've had a couple bad experiences and couldn't get my device to work again.

I have had 6 different Samsung devices and rooted all. Never had a single issue. I love rooting. So far I am surviving without it. I figure it might take a month or two til it's obtained. Canadian variants usually get root with T-Mobile.

Yea - I will enjoy it just the way it is! Until root is available - and then I will absolutely root it.
Haven't been on xda since my s3. Miss having a rooted device. Can't we ff to when we have root for this awesome s6 edge+!
I really want to update to 6.0 but I no longer have the phone on the verizon network... Is there a file I can download to update manually?

Have you tried using the update feature in settings? Other than that, you can use the Samsung Desktop Utility (named something like that, but don't quote me on the name) to install it through USB.

Well then you can't download the update through the system update app on your phone and you need to download and install it manually through ODIN (check Google on how).
If you have never uses ODIN before, it's very easy to brick your phone if you don't know what you are doing, so follow the instructions CAREFULLY.
Also, remove your SIM card out of the phone when install it. This isn't required, but just to be sure that something wierd doesn't happen when installing the OS. Android likes to do random things all the time.

Was able to update through samsung smart switch aha Thanks. Also the stock firmware uploaded here doesn't work in Odin or makes mine freeze at least

Is Verizon sim card a must for OTAs? I just bought a Verizon galaxy s6 edge plus unlocked.

Hey,
I have a note 4 from a company I no longer work for. It was in my drawer for almost a year. I played around with it and tried to wipe it but it wouldn't wipe because of Air Watch. I guess I made it worse when I disabled something I shouldn't which I think was the account for it. Now it stays stuck on the screen of Air Watch and do not know how to remove the company guarded info and just put the normal nougat or older os on there. Any help?
Are you rooted?

I don't think the Note 4 VZW version ever did gain root. Did a quick search and it looks like there was a bounty thread for it. Not 100% sure it ever got root though

Unless you can unlock the bootloader and get OEM access I do not believe it will be possible. I wonder if we call T-Mobile tho unlock the bootloader like they unlock the sim that we could then Flash the Internationa T865 and also Root.

I'm pretty sure it's Korean (Asia?) variant.
Sorry, going to hijack the thread but I think it is relevant.
I have a sm-t865 but don't use the lte anymore as have more than enough data on my phone and link that way.
So, can I use odin to install the sm-t860 rom on the tablet so won't have any of the phone and messaging stuff?
Just curious!

T860 still has all the phone and messaging stuff - You just can't use any of it without connecting a phone.
Hello everyone i have a tricky question i have the SM-T867U that the lte USA variant from tmobile i had it already unlocked the tricky question is i like more for personal preference the u1 firmware on my phones so where im going is if this LTE tablet had any firmware like the U1 on the galaxy phones i have through of installing the German or UK firmware but i dont know if they contain bloats or if the LTE works fine with USA carriers (wich i doubt) any info is welcome.
