My phone is running AOSP Extended 14.1. It's a bit of a pain to have to copy my custom notification sounds & ringtones to the media folder & change permissions every time I flash an updated ROM. Is there a way to make a flashable zip file to do this?

omg just put into the ringtones folder in internal storage/sdcard it will show up in the list of ringtones and notification
i feel so bad for you bcs you didnt know xD
Also create a folder named Notification and put your custom sounds in there
so its two folders
Ringtones
Notifications
<blush> now my education is complete

so I used Mabilo to download ringtones and notification sounds, now mabilo has options to set such ringtones as Set As, default or contact, etc. the problem is though that I have to go through the app to do it i want to be able to do it from the settings menu. is there anything specific that I should do? so i have to make a specifi folder to deferrentiate between the notifications and actual ringtones? what do i do?
I think you can take any sound as long as its in .ogg format and push it to the system/media/audio/ringtones folder using adb. I used Android Commander to push the ringtones from Euegen's froyo rom to the Fusion rom I'm running right now.

would i be able to do the same thing with root explorer?
Hey I just wanted to add the notification sounds from Anderoids Aosp rom to roms that I use now and might use in the future. I tried unzipping the AOSP one and moving the sound files to the same location in the Trigger Rom folder but when I zipped it up and tried to flash the rom it just hung on installing update or something. Anyone know what to do? I used 7zip to zip it back up and the sound folder is the only thing I touched. The original zip of trigger flashed fine but when I tried to mod it I ran into problems. Heres a link to the AOSP clone.

Hi folks,
I flashed Sensedx5 ROM and I feel very happy with it.
But I miss some system audio files from Sense 4+. Ringtones, notifications and alarms have been deleted/changed in this new version of Sense.
So, I decided to extract files from a Sense 4 ROM (system/media/audio/... ) and pushed it into the right directories with ES file explorer (System write enabled).
It's OK for ringtones but not for alarms nor notifications. Files don't appear in customize menu.
Any idea to fix that?
I do not use Sense 5, but did you set the same permissions for them as the other files have there?
Yeah, already tried it. No change : files don't appear in the list (and erased after reboot)...

Are you using a custom kernel with system write protection disable?
No, I flashed Boot.img_Installer_RC2.0 - stock kernel.

Try to flash RC4.0, that one has system write protection disabled. It will work after that
Weird. Why does it work for ringtones and not for alarms and notifications?
Will give a try with NeXus kernel and see what happens. Stay tuned...
Double post. Deleted
You don't have to put them in system.
Simply put the media folders extracted from Sense 4+ with all its structure on sdcard will do. The system will pickup all the audio files when you select them in sound picker.
Doesn't work after flashing nexus kernel...

It didn't work at first try, but I did it again and reboot. Now it's working.
Thanks a lot, dude.
Can someone show me how to remove the system ringtones from my phone. I'm rooted running HD revolution Rom. I know there's a way to take them completely off. Thanx in advance!
Well there are 3 ways really...
Adb pull each file from path directory where ringtones are stored
Using a FE, extract zip, navigate to where ringtones are stored, and delete the contents then rezip ROM zip
Or you can use a FW with ROM installed. Navigate through the files. Locate the directory where ringtones are stored, and delete the files

Won't "adb pull" just copy the file, and not delete the original from /system?
But I agree with the other 2 solutions. The last is probably the easiest if the ROM is already installed.
But what difference would this make? It won't change the amount of memory taken by the system partition, will it? Unless the goal is just to not have to scroll though unneeded ringtones when making a selection?
Thanx
The purpose is to erase the stock ringtones completely. I have an app that shuffles my text and phone call tones but each time I set it up for specific ringtones it always adds the stocks tones. Besides I don't use the stock tones so it won't hurt taking them out.

Gotcha.
You are right...I forgot to mention that...thank you for setting me straight...
The BLU R1 HD ships with very annoying and horrible SystemUI sounds. Luckily, it is very simple to replace them with the normal AOSP ones. I realize than not everyone wants to go through the trouble of searching for the Android SystemUI sounds and putting them together in the system. That's why I made this pack.
What's included?
SystemUI sounds from AOSP including...
Touch/click sounds
Keyboard sounds
Camera shutter and focus sounds
All original stock sounds, prefixed with "Stock_" for backup purposes.
How to install...
Download the attached zip file
Extract it using your favourite extractor
Copy all files inside to /system/media/audio/ui/, replacing any existing files using your favourite root file manager.
Reboot
Profit???
FAQ
Q: I have no SystemUI sounds at all!
A: You must enable them. Touch sounds are in Sound & notification, under the audio profile settings. Keyboard sounds are somewhere in the settings of your keyboard app, so you'll have to find them yourself.
Q: I want to go back to the stock SystemUI sounds.
A: Simply delete all the files in /system/media/audio/ui/ that have "Stock_" counterparts and rename the "Stock_" counterparts to remove the "Stock_"
Q: I don't have a root file manager or zip extractor.
A: I used ES File Explorer. Amaze File Manager is better. You can find it on the Google Play Store.
Will add more as needed...

Would be better if you made this into a flashable zip

I'll look into that.
I follow the instructions to the t and now I have no sound. Every sound option is enabled and nothing. I even deleted the files and rename the "stock_" but nothing. Please advice.
