There's only been one update since the phone came out, and that was in April.
Went out to get the mail, came back and I noticed a download icon on my phone, turns out its in the middle of an update. File size is 477.3mb. I already have the update from April, so Im not sure what this'll be. Guess I'll know within the hour, as its downloading quite slowly.

I just finished downloading it myself. It's at updating now... (1/2) stage right now. I hope they fix all the issues and complains people had, or at least most of them.
It went from 11a to 12b. I do not notice any differences yet, but I didnt experience issues prior to the update either.
Hopefully this fixed my Bluetooth issues. I installed it and will try it when I leave work to see if my streaming issue goes away (static/crackle).

I just saw the update coming down, it's downloading atm.
Unfortunately it looks like it was just security updates. My Bluetooth issue is still present.

And....It doesn't.
The latest update bricked my phone this morning. It got stuck on the LG screen, then occasionally flashing the "Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and my not work properly." I couldn't even factory reset it. Took it to a Verizon store and they couldn't do anything either. At least they will FedEx me another phone overnight.

I doubt it. The only thing showing serious battery drain is "Phone Idle", and I have the same exact apps on 2 other devices without a problem.
I just got 12b update today.

For me, this update broke the BLuetooth transmission of audio track data to my car stereo head unit. I post in the general G6 forum earlier:
'I have a new G6 and a new problem with Play Music. When connected via Bluetooth to my 2016 Subaru Outback head unit, Play Music track info does not appear on the head unit display. My previous LG G5 had no problem doing this consistently. Other apps like Pocket Casts displays track info, no problem. I reviewed the G6 supported Bluetooth profiles and they are compatible with the Subie head unit.
This is maddening! Has anyone else experienced this and then found a solution?
cheers,
mordango
UPDATE: I had this phone replaced with fresh G6. It was still on the 11a Verizon software version. Connected it to the car head unit via Bluetooth, played Google Play Music, got all the info on the head unit as it was supposed to do. Updated to 12b software version, no more music information displayed on the head unit. So, the 12b update breaks this for Play Music. Some other audio apps still display info but Play Music and Soundcloud are broken."

I got an update from Zune, but it was OS update only. There was no firmware. Should I restore and try it again?
It'll come later, some have got the firmware and not the OS.
Thanks for letting me know.
I just got a similar reply on Nokia Support. They're being pushed seperately. The user I replied to had received the firmware, but not the OS update yet.
I'll try to be more patient.
I just did the disconnect trick, and it's downloading 8107, will report what firmware I have when it's done
---------- Post added at 09:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:18 PM ----------
Got 8107 + new firmware in one go
Tried the disconnect trick when the last update was being rolled out but wasn't working. :S I thought they fixed it?
Clearly not
Also, MVNO's are better supported now, my phone shows Giffgaff instead of O2-UK, not seen that in a while!
I'll give it a go.. Hopefully it works this time around.. Any tips?
Took me about 5 goes to time it right. Best tip is preserver I guess. I also turned flight mode on as I read that helps.

+1 to this. took a few attempts, worked in the end
Just managed to get it updating. It's getting new Windows verison, not sure about FW tho, will have to wait for it to finish and check.
Any noticable improvements yet? I know it's too early though
Mine only said Windows version, but firmware was included too. Auto-brightness seems better, diagnostic app contains more stuff. Charging now to see new capacity.
I just flashed back to 11451 via NCS, then forced the update through Zune.
I got both the OS update and firmware (8106.11500). I'm hoping this firmware is the answer to all our battery problems. Full charge capacity is sitting at 1483mAh. Will post back if it starts to drop (like on all the other firmwares)...
T-Mobile USA Zune Force Update Worked..
Flashed and have joy now..
Like others mentioned above, battery capacity reads 1481 rather than 1517; so was this the correction I wonder?
Will have to see how it performs over the coming days.
Autobrightness seems to work MUCH better; that alone will conserve some power.
Going to close down my system and go home now; I am curious if Bluetooth will be any better. I have a Nokia J - works better than non-Nokia, but have had to re-pair it a few times due to repeated connection dropoffs. Want to see if A2DP will work now. And of course, will try the camera to see if there is anything else good there (in spite of prior reports..)
Cheers
[1st Edit]
Ok, so far BT is holding together but we'll see.. I'll have to see if the belt holster throws it off. Still no A2DP though.. Podcasts, music, and Nokia Drive voices still play through speaker and won't route through headset.
[Edit 2]
Camera.. Nuts.. Spoke too soon. At work under fluorescents.. No pink spot. Came home .. Under halogen, spot is still there unless I use flash. So looks like nothing changed after all except the focus default setting (whoop dee dee... )
[Edit 3] Bluetooth seems very stable.. Going to try now with a non-Nokia earpiece..

Z981 for T-Mobile has a new update and it seems to fix some screen tearing issues. Update seems to add some stability too.
Any one else running this update?
Thoughts?
Just found out that you can unlock the bootloader with this update by tapping the build number 3 times.
Then developer options can be enabled.
Then OEM unlocking can be enabled.
What does this do for us guys?
It updated for me this morning, and I have yet to see much of a difference. Then again, I've been doing housework all day and haven't messed with the phone today.
Did some looking, the update was just the November security patch.
The bootloader unlock option was there before the recent update. You need to find the tmo folks on tinder and snuggle with them to get those tools to actually use that option.
Been 24hrs since I updated and have hammered device with no sight of the "Tetris stack" glitches. So on top of the security patch there must've been a kernel / graphic driver update.
good day.
The Metro variant just got an update too. Added a few features and included a few bug fixes. Haven't had time to really test drive it but it seems to be stabler, no screen bugs or data drops yet.
Edit: The Metro update also let us get into recovery now but nobody's had time to play with it much yet. So far we've got recovery, FTM mode, and safe mode, I think.

Yes the metro update actually fix my screen flicker. I tested minecraft that has screen flicker many many times while playing it. After the update, I played it again and no flickers so I am really happy about it.
AS for recovery, FTM mode, and safe mode - I had all those even before the update, actually.

Hi does anyone has the T-Mobile Update.zip?
For some reason I haven't received the update where I am right now for my T-Mobile variant. Can anyone upload the update.zip and share it? I look everywhere I could and people have only uploaded the MetroPCS versions. This is the version I need TMO_Z981V1.0.0B07 I'm already on the previous one. Thanks ?

The Metro update was uploaded there but I don't think anyone has uploaded the T-Mobile update. I think they both got pulled temporarily because while some phones with issues were working better, some other phones without issues were doing worse after updating.

Yes, that's what I thought after I read in one thread that MetroPCS pulled the update. Waiting a bit doesn't kills? Feels great to be back in XDA again. I usually use XDA for learning and reference, I only have a couple of post but been around for awhile.
My z981's mfg date was October 2016, T-Mobile variant, I picked it up December 10th, when I realised my Nexus 5 was unsalvageable. I assume the update was pulled, as I am on 0B04, one page on T-Mobile's site says the update was set for a staged release between the 21st of November through the 19th of December, another page doesn't even show this phone amongst their active or testing updates..
If I receive an update notification, I'll pull the file, but I probably won't flash it myself.

I just went into the settings and found the software update and bam there it was. It's a really stable update. And after disabling every app I could the phone runs like a dream.
Anyone try charging this phone with a Qualcomm Quick charger 3.0?

Nice. The update never showed up on my device. I may reset it just to see, but I'm not concerned. I replaced the launcher from the start, disabled a couple of apps, but the phone works well enough for me as is. I mostly read and listen to music, so nothing demanding.
Still, a nougat update with an unlocked bootloader/fastboot would be a great gift from ZTE lol.
[edit] I backed up my music and files, and reset the phone, still no update. I won't worry about it 'till people start receiving the 'next' update, or root is achieved and someone makes a custom kernel/rom.

I don't personally own one, the default charger works well enough for me so far, though the phone supposedly charges significantly faster while off. I haven't tested this myself, but if it turns out to be true, I'd assume the kernel limits charging, which wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

If I ever receive the update I'll pull it from the device and upload it to mega or Google drive. Not holding my breath, since it was probably put on hold for causing issues on some devices.
I shall greatly appreciate it if you can do it or anyone that updates and has the time to load it.
I can not figure out for the life of me why this is an issue on my Verizon V10. I have an alpine radio in my car, and whenever play music with my V10 to the radio over bluetooth, it skips all the time and it gets very very annoying. Sometimes a restart fixes this, sometimes clearing the cache for the bluetooth fixes this, but it always comes back. I do not know if it does this with calls as well. It does it with every bluetooth device I have connected to it. My radio being the most used one. I have done a factory reset, and hat has done nothing for me. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have the same issue and cannot figure it out. Quite frustrating. Please update if you figure anything out and I will do the same.
I had issues. I ended up calling Verizon as I had issues even installing updates! I had to factory reset a crap load of times and it was pissing me off. I have since contacted LG. The phone was under factory warranty so I sent it back to them and they "re-calibrated my gps" and re-provisioned the phone to meet factory specifications. Now 2 weeks in it seems to have fixed the Bluetooth issue. Hoping it doesn't come back. By the way, this is the second LG V10. The first one was so bad Verizon swapped out the phone for me.
It's a software issue with 6.0 which was fixed with 6.0.1 which was released by Google in December of 2015 which we haven't gotten 14 months later.

So it is a software issue huh? The way it acts would make it seem like a hardware problem, but anything is possible with this thing apparently.
I have the same troubles too. It will cut out for a second her and there. In my car AND with my LG Tones. I could be playing music or a podcast. I could have the phone less than a foot away with no obstructions and it still cuts out. Pretty Suresh it's not a hardware issue.

I actually went through the problem of taking my radio out and extending the Bluetooth antenna thinking it might have been the problem. I am glad I am not the only one with this problem. I am a couple weeks out of warranty now too so I will have to live with it.

I keep reading on different sites that nougat may be around the corner. If that is the case then I hope it gets fixed.
To the best of my knowledge it was fixed in 6.0.1 which was released 4 months BEFORE the V10 got 6.0.
Ya never know, it could have been broken in 7.0 and I HIGHLY DOUBT we'll get 7.1.1.

Maybe it's just placebo, but after pondering/testing this exact question since I got this phone the day it released, seems to me that closing chrome has the most positive influence on bluetooth quality. I tend to close everything but messenger and jetAudio just to make myself feel better. Also noticed that poweramp didn't work as well as jA under any circumstances. Test your running apps, test your music app. Just my .02
Had big expectations for this phone.. Bluetooth issues, screen burn-in, no root (yet), no oem nougat still, kind of let down
Hi, has anyone had any popping, crackling, or skipping when listening to music? I get it about twice to 3 times per hour when listening to spotify or local music. There was one time in particular where i was listening to music, when opening the recents menu and opening a recent app caused a serious crackling distortion.
Should I return my phone?
Side note: have tried safe mode. Crackling still occurs. Have tried repeating the same file. Crackilng does not occur at the same time.
Second side note: on version 119. Phillipines has no updates beyond that.
Mine does it too. This phone has more bugs than a bush tucker trial!
Haha. Yeah, it does. I've also have had apps randomly open sometimes and another music player play for a few seconds when I press play on Spotify, then return to spotify. I'm planing to try and have my handset exchanged tomorrow at the store. Hopefully they will.
I do believe this phone has really great potential, if only it wasn't so buggy.
Had too sometimes.
However, I think problem is Oreo, not the phone!
I want to believe it's oreo, since everything else on my phone works great (minus the hiccups mentioned above). No wifi or reception issues. Not even sure I want to get a replacement and do a lottery again.
so glad to see its not just me. phone is terribly buggy. settings turning on and off. sometimes after being on the phone for like 5 mins, the phone locks itself. sometimes without me even touching the phone eg when im watching youtube with it propped up on my desk. has anyone who exchanged their phone actually received one that doesnt have these issues though?
whats up with the blue light remaining on in settings when you turn a setting off? UI nightmare
Hmm. This makes me think we should run a poll so we can identify the common issues everyone is having to rule out hardware issues.

A lot has to be with Oreo as these issues don't exist in other Huawei phones. Also i wonder if some of these unreleased roms that folks are using have bugs in it compared to the official roms received via OTA.

Anyone else having an issue with the speaker phone going dead during calls? I have this happen all the time about 5 minutes into a call. Turning the speaker off and then back on helps but it keeps happening.
There's another thread rife with complaints about this issue, and it seems to be affecting all U.S. (at least) carriers more or less equally.
I suspect it's an LG software issue rather than a hardware one, but I obviously have no way of knowing.
I only vaguely recall that my old phone, the LG V30+, had a similar issue that was ultimately fixed via software.
Out of curiosity, have you tried using a different default phone/dialer app?
I use Google's Phone app, which should be available on the Google Play Store, if it's not already pre-installed on your device.
Edit: Here's the other thread.
