I can not figure out for the life of me why this is an issue on my Verizon V10. I have an alpine radio in my car, and whenever play music with my V10 to the radio over bluetooth, it skips all the time and it gets very very annoying. Sometimes a restart fixes this, sometimes clearing the cache for the bluetooth fixes this, but it always comes back. I do not know if it does this with calls as well. It does it with every bluetooth device I have connected to it. My radio being the most used one. I have done a factory reset, and hat has done nothing for me. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have the same issue and cannot figure it out. Quite frustrating. Please update if you figure anything out and I will do the same.
I had issues. I ended up calling Verizon as I had issues even installing updates! I had to factory reset a crap load of times and it was pissing me off. I have since contacted LG. The phone was under factory warranty so I sent it back to them and they "re-calibrated my gps" and re-provisioned the phone to meet factory specifications. Now 2 weeks in it seems to have fixed the Bluetooth issue. Hoping it doesn't come back. By the way, this is the second LG V10. The first one was so bad Verizon swapped out the phone for me.
It's a software issue with 6.0 which was fixed with 6.0.1 which was released by Google in December of 2015 which we haven't gotten 14 months later.

So it is a software issue huh? The way it acts would make it seem like a hardware problem, but anything is possible with this thing apparently.
I have the same troubles too. It will cut out for a second her and there. In my car AND with my LG Tones. I could be playing music or a podcast. I could have the phone less than a foot away with no obstructions and it still cuts out. Pretty Suresh it's not a hardware issue.

I actually went through the problem of taking my radio out and extending the Bluetooth antenna thinking it might have been the problem. I am glad I am not the only one with this problem. I am a couple weeks out of warranty now too so I will have to live with it.

I keep reading on different sites that nougat may be around the corner. If that is the case then I hope it gets fixed.
To the best of my knowledge it was fixed in 6.0.1 which was released 4 months BEFORE the V10 got 6.0.
Ya never know, it could have been broken in 7.0 and I HIGHLY DOUBT we'll get 7.1.1.

Maybe it's just placebo, but after pondering/testing this exact question since I got this phone the day it released, seems to me that closing chrome has the most positive influence on bluetooth quality. I tend to close everything but messenger and jetAudio just to make myself feel better. Also noticed that poweramp didn't work as well as jA under any circumstances. Test your running apps, test your music app. Just my .02
Had big expectations for this phone.. Bluetooth issues, screen burn-in, no root (yet), no oem nougat still, kind of let down

I helped my dad pick up this phone when it first came out. It had absolutely horrible call audio quality and looking around the net, it sounded like Motorola recognized it and was going to release an update to fix it. Fast forward to this past week when I talked to him on his cell phone and I noticed that it still sounded like crap.
Device issue? Software issue? Common? Rare?

Carrier issue imo, att sucks.
The next release of CM should have settings for call qaulity. Not sure what they do but they are there.

No sound issues here. I came from the Inspire and I thought the Atrix is ten times better.
Sounds like a device issue. Although At&t really has bad call quality I know of quite a few handsets that just had bad audio, even with the new firmware upgrades. Got my Atrix second day it came out and it's a solid device from day one although it is stock android. Gonna wait to see if ICS ever gets green lighted for the Atrix....if not than I will throw CM on it.
CM will certainly be the fastest way to get ICS so if that is what is holding you back I say go full speed ahead.

Hi all, after the ICS update yesterday, when someone calls or I call out, the other person can't hear my voice. I can plug in ear buds, with built-in mic and the other person can hear my voice ok. Wondering if there's a conflict somehow with the speakerphone? Been over the sound settings several times and can't find anything that applies. Any ideas or fixes? Thanks much
Jim
Interesting. I've not run in to that yet. I am unable to use MHS with hidden ssid, I hate that quick look up is gone, and facebook was added. Just a few minor things but overall I like it.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I like what I'm seeing so far with ICS. This problem is very similar to one I had on an HTC Fuze several years ago, but it's been too long ago to recall the solution.

Its a stock Tbolt. I did try flipping the phone and the speaker didn't come on. There was a sound setting that was checked (flip phone for speaker).

If your microphone stopped working immediately after the OTA, I'd call Verizon and have someone look at it and replace it.
If your microphone worked for a little while after the OTA, chances are your microphone just decided to give out.
Either way, I'd look to get it replaced. If its stock and unrooted, there's absolutely no reason for the microphone giving out to be your fault unless it has possible water damage.
Try checking the headphone jack with a bright light for something stuck down in the headphone jack.
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
RBarnett, thanks for the reply. The phone was working properly (my voice out) worked fine before the OTA update. No water damage. Just too much of a coincidence for the phone microphone to stop working immediately after the OTA, to my way of thinking. Sounds like good advice to have Verizon check it out.
No mic on Thunderbolt after ICS and app installs
Exact same issue here.
I updated my stock, undamaged, 2 year old, Verizon HTC Thunderbolt to Ice Cream Sandwich(ICS) last Tuesday evening. That evening I found out my phone mic was not working. Callers could not hear me, but all else was fine. Speaker phone did work. Love the Bolt and ICS looks and feels great.
I went to the local Verizon store and the guy did some online research and found no known or reported issues. He said that it must be coincidental that the mic stopped working after the ICS update. He cleaned the mic area and the headphone jack, assuming crud may have been disabling the mic. Nothing seemed to fix the problem.
They ordered a replacement under warranty and it arrived the next day. I activated it and proceeded to reload all my apps, again assuming that the mic issue must be coincidental. After many hours tweaking the phone to my needs and setting up all apps I found that the mic did not work.
Thursday I took both to the Verizon store and another rep played with it and could not find the cause. Only options were to upgrade, or try another replacement. I had no reason to replace my previously fully functioning Bolt. They ordered a second refurb that arrived yesterday. Before downloading any apps I was only going to activate it and make sure the mic worked. I never got that far. The second refurb had a malfunctioning screen that was unacceptable to me.
So off to the store I went with three Bolts.
They agreed the 2nd one should never have been sent out with the poor screen.
This time I talked with a female rep. She actually just upgraded from a Thunderbolt and was well versed. We decided to wipe the first refurb back to factory and the mic now was working. I took it home, started downloading my apps and after a few hours and nearly done I found the phone mic to be inoperable again. The speaker mic worked fine.
Assuming an app was disabling my phone mic I wiped it back to factory and reactivated. I checked and the mic is now working again. I assume one of my apps is conflicting with the mic mute. I have been downloading a few apps at a time and the mic is still working. Only about 15% of the previously downloaded apps are now on my Bolt. I just don’t know what app, or when my mic may go mute.
Long, ongoing story, but I thought I would post to see if anyone has any ideas, or similar issues after ICS update. Thanks in advance.

By "new replacement" you mean a new Thunderbolt, or replacement by a different phone? Probably be a frickin Apple knowing my bad luck...lol
I was actually surprised they updated the Bolt considering you can't even get accessories at a Verizon store any longer. And supplies are limited online.

Hey, a big THANKS, for that detailed reply! I guess misery loves company! Yep, that is the problem. The only work around I've found is to use head phones or ear buds. But you can't just plug in buds or phones and expect them to work for phone calls. They have to have a built in mic. Mine is a Dynex Adapter. It has the mic and a button switch for switching to a call if you're listening to music or radio. The adapter is about 5" long and costs about $10 as I recall. At least that makes the phone usable again until a better solution comes along.
Like you, I thought I might have a rogue app and started removing any app with an audio or sound component. So far no luck. Please let me know if you come across a solution and I'll do the same. Thanks again for posting.

I have read elsewhere about a similar issue. In that post it mentioned that once you get the rogue mic mute the only fix is a factory wipe. I have had to wipe phones 5 times since ICS update last Tuesday. I tried uninstalling app by app but never got the mic back without a wipe. I need a phone, more than I need all the apps. I do miss some but am adding them back slowly.
Same here. They are sending me a replacement and we'll see what happens. I'm personally hoping this 2nd one has the same issue and just seeing if I can upgrade mine to another phone. >.>
Being a total dumb ass concerning programming phones, this problem appears to be software rather than hardware related. Could a developer create a small app to simply reset or clear the mic status? I'm probably oversimplifying, but it looks like an HTC or Verizon developer could fix this problem in a matter of minutes. Rendering a fine phone useless after an OS update seems kind of ridiculous, imo. Any suggestions or thoughts?
So far none of the rooted users that didnt take the ota but rather used the flash able haven't reported this issue. It is possible that its a combination of hardware and software where the new software didn't fill the gap for your hardware. It is well known that no two thunderbolts are alike and they all react differently to the software.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Good point Disconnectie. Something, whether hardware or software, rendered my perfectly working Tbolt, basically unusable after the OTA. I wonder now if the Emergency Call function is working? Don't think I'll make an emergency call to test.
I have enabled all settings and trained and retrained the voice model. I cannot seem to get the OK Google detection from any screen. It works when I open the app or when I slide up from the bottom which is opening the app. I am using the Verizon Wireless version.
Any tips or is anyone else experiencing this issues too?
I had the same issue yesterday, but now it works for some reason. The only thing I did was to install the Google Now launcher, update the settings there, test it, and go back to the LG UI. There's no way for me to know if this made it work, I just know that now it does.
I'll try this and see what happens. I wish it would just work the way its built.

I read somewhere the other day that the most recent update to google search broke voice detection from any screen and lock screen. Waiting on a fix from Google..
That would make sense. I was getting frustrated with this device. It doesn't have the smart screen that stays on when you're looking at it and the issue with the fingerprint not working with a case then Ok Google detection not working. I was about to take it back.

What is the version? Mine doesn't work. And when I retrain, it doesn't even hear me. However I can hit the microphone button and ask it a question without issue.
In Settings/Apps, the "Google App" I have is version 5.5.29.19.arm64
That's the most updated. Are you sure that you have Voice Detection turned on?

Gah, mine is actually still sporadic here, worse than before even. At the moment I can't train my voice or talk after hitting the microphone button.... The Google app just isnt hearing me at all anywhere. The LG voice command app seems to work so I don't think it's my microphone.
It seemed to be working last night but I rebooted my phone this morning and now nothing

Yup. And when I attempt to retrain it, it says "listening" even after I say "OK Google". It just doesn't hear me. But I can press the mic icon and say "what time it is it" or any question like that without any issue at all.
Hmmmmm. I have found that the V10 does have some bugs. Not sure exactly why. For example, sometimes I see it disconnect from what is a very stable WiFi.

I haven't seen that, but I have noticed that the signal strength meter for the wifi seems to show a weaker signal than it did with my M9. And that the cell reception also seems a bit weaker as well.
It happens to me more at work than at home. Sometimes I have to switch to the Xfinity connection to watch Hulu. The WiFi at work isn't great. That's why we all hardwire our laptops.

My only similar scenario is watching Showtime at the gym. They have a Netgear router there. I have now watched all of the latest season of Homeland there (about 50 minutes per episode), and haven't had any disconnection issues.
Is anyone else having an issue when streaming music via Bluetooth? It sounds like static/crackling, kinda like the audio is being clipped at the higher end.

I too came from a V10. my V10 had plenty of problems, my Beats Solo 2 wireless would crack a lot, as well as my Jaybirds x2. once I got my G6 the only cracking I got was when I stepped out of rage. anyways I'm just saying to test things out with multiple devices, multiple Bluetooth devices would be ideal as well. don't just quickly assume it's not something. doesn't matter if it's a car or not tech is tech and some of it may be defected.

It does kinda suck, but I have a feeling it has to do with Android Wear app. So I think at some point I am going to do a factory reset and only install apps that don't use Bluetooth at all and then keep installing one at a time to see if I can narrow it down.

I'm pretty sure it's a bug with the phone's bluetooth. It happens to me when connected to my Android Wear watch. If I turn off my watch, the crackling stops.
Yea, I am pretty positive it is Android Wear/Smart Watch related. I unpaired my watch from my phone and uninstalled Android Wear and the issue seems gone.
Weird.

The Bluetooth is TERIBLE on these phones - The BLE doesn't work and too many devices paired (especially smart watches) messing up streaming something Awful. There are MANY software bugs especially using google music and many other programs/apps - the longer you use the phone to more the bugs will standout, but in LG's defense they have issued a software update, but with Verizon there's Really No Telling when will get it (if we get it)

There's only been one update since the phone came out, and that was in April.
Went out to get the mail, came back and I noticed a download icon on my phone, turns out its in the middle of an update. File size is 477.3mb. I already have the update from April, so Im not sure what this'll be. Guess I'll know within the hour, as its downloading quite slowly.

For me, this update broke the BLuetooth transmission of audio track data to my car stereo head unit. I post in the general G6 forum earlier:
'I have a new G6 and a new problem with Play Music. When connected via Bluetooth to my 2016 Subaru Outback head unit, Play Music track info does not appear on the head unit display. My previous LG G5 had no problem doing this consistently. Other apps like Pocket Casts displays track info, no problem. I reviewed the G6 supported Bluetooth profiles and they are compatible with the Subie head unit.
This is maddening! Has anyone else experienced this and then found a solution?
cheers,
mordango
UPDATE: I had this phone replaced with fresh G6. It was still on the 11a Verizon software version. Connected it to the car head unit via Bluetooth, played Google Play Music, got all the info on the head unit as it was supposed to do. Updated to 12b software version, no more music information displayed on the head unit. So, the 12b update breaks this for Play Music. Some other audio apps still display info but Play Music and Soundcloud are broken."
