redmi 3s not charging (water damage) - Xiaomi Redmi 3 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
my girlfriend dropped her Redmi 3S in water and after cleaning it with alcohol and drying it in rice the phone works fine but only when connected to a charger.
I thought the battery was dead and ordered a replacement. The battery gets detected with a charge of 74% but the phone won't turn or stay on when the charger is disconnected.
Any idea what part could be damaged? I know with water damage it could be anything but everything is working fine except the battery....
Thank you

[Q] Charging issue

My SGSII has developed an issue over night.
When I unplugged the charger this morning it stayed as being on charge and the Battery 100% symbol. It randomly flashed up as charging 3 times in a couple of seconds. It can be fine for anywhere between 5minutes and a few hours and then states on charge again.
I have taken the handset appart and can see no liquid damage and the solder on the micro usb port are all good (no dry joints etc) I gave it all a good clean down with IPA.
Since this morning it has done it several times but seems after the battery drops below 90% it no longer does it.
Any ideas on what to check next? known charging issue? possible battery issue?
Please clean your usb port on the phone using canned air or a dry brush. It's mostly a problem with the contacts short-circuiting!

Tried, also used IPA to make sure no residue is on the contacts.
It's strange it hasn't done it after the battery dropped below 90%. If it was a short it'd be doing it all the time.

Help Phone dropped on salt water

I have X10 that i bought from a friend. Last month i dropped it when i was on the beach. I Quickly remove the battery and wash it with clean water because i heard that salt water will damage my phone.then i leave it to air for about 2 days, I didn't dissasemble it because i was affraid. Then after 2 days i power up my phone then it backs to normal (there is some kind of water trace on the screen but everything works normal).
After about a week, i charged it but it won't charge at all. I have to remove the battery, put it back after 5 mins and recharge to do it. After about a month I was playing mp3 using headset and went to sleep but what i found on the morning is my phone turned off. I thought the battery has run out of power, I charged it but nothing happens, even the LED won't show a red light. I brought it to SE but they won't repair it because my friend bought this phone at hongkong not in my country. I decided to fix it my self,i tear down the phone and found that the cover of the ICs are rusty, not all of the cover but only some. I try to plugged in the charger to the micro usb slot on that teared down condition and what i found is the power management IC (qualcomm PM7540) got hot.
Could anybody help me?what should I do?
Did you stick it in uncooked rice. I did it when I dropped mine in sanitized water. Left it in for a full 24 hours and my x10 works like a charm. Try it. Just be careful to get ALL the rice out before powering it back up.

thx for your reply,i have tried it last night.but only for a night because I'm sure that it is already dried ( I leave it to air for about a week ). Still it won't powered on,looks like short circuit problem. My friend told me that i should buy a new mainboard but it cost so damn high. I just want to know if there is another way to fix it.
Now, for this device already is late to help, but for the future, to other users such advice:
If your device visited salt water, then
1. Take off a back lid and battery
2. Carefully and repeatedly wash in the distilled water all parts
3. Dry up to the complete drying out at a temperature 40 ะก

battery deep discharged

Hello friends ,
My moto E was dropped a bit in water not completely i checked at that moment the device was wokring fine but then too , to avoid risk i packed the device in plastic cover and kept in rice overnight.
But next day the mobile isnt starting. Wen i plugged to usb only the while led on the top right is showing. I tried all the options of power volume combinations..
Can anyone tell if there is any others steps or things to be checked before taking it to service center,, :crying::crying:
If you're sure it has dried up (but it would have been much better to remove the battery... it's just a few Torxes and a connector away), try leaving the charger plugged in for a day or so: I don't know about the Moto E but many phones have "emergency charging", that is the battery is connected directly to +5 with a strong resistor so it can very slowly get to 1% to boot offline charging!
Assuming of course the battery control chip didn't see a short or overdischarge, in which case [this chip] is effectively hard bricked...

OK SIR I will try this and confirm if its working very soon:good:
Ok friends finally my device is back to life.. I just want to share how and what happened..
Firstly I dropped my device in fish tank. So in order to dry up my device i just switched off and kept it in rice for entire whole day. But the only problem was that battery isn't removable. Next day thinking the water must have dried so i tried switching on but nothing working. I tried all the things mentioned everywhere in internet power volume combinations but nothing worked.. I thgt either the display got bad due to water or battery died.. Then i read something about moto devices that if the battery get discharged completely then it enters deep discharge mode.. i did some research here and some other sites.. Finally i found a video of MOTO G device which got deep discharge..
So here what the guy did.. He removed the battery using torx T4 screwdriver which i needed to order bcoz i didnt had it.. once the battery is removed from device wait for 5 mins then connect the charger to device without connecting battery.. Display starts hurray.. now keeping the charger connected connect the battery to device and finally the charging starts.. keep for charging and device is alive..

Nexus 6 only boots on charger

Hey guys. my Nexus 6 recently sustained some water damage. Did all the steps to correct the water damage. now it only boots if i plug in the charger and quickly hold the power button. it boots up and the battery indicator says its at 4%. if i unplug the charger the phone turns off. Im quite sure that the battery is damaged and needs to be replaced, but could there be any other damage as well? Thank you!

Phone wont charge after water damage, which part to change?

I have a phone which wont charge after being dropped in a toilet. I already tried replacing the whole bottom circuit board which includes the charging port however the issue remains. I'm going to try one more part change, would it be more likely to be the battery or mainboard? There is no corrosion visible on the mainboard but it was plugged in before being dried properly so could have short circuited?
Ps, the phone worked fine until battery reached 0% and wouldn't recharge
