I had rooted my honor 5x to lineage os but wanted to go back to stock. I found a backup up here and used it because I forgot to make a backup of my stock os first. I can't update to emui 4.0 I'm on 3.1 I don't have stock recovery only TWRP. Is there a way to get stock recovery back or update with twrp? I don't have my laptop as I sold it to a friend is there a way to do it without a PC or is that a requirement? Sorry for the noob question this is the first time I've ever rooted a phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mostly it is suggested to have PC in standby.
First off all make a nandroid backup of your current ROM .
But it is advised to have twrp while on custom ROM
Edit do you want stock recovery or do you want to update your system to next emui version?

You don't need a PC. You just have to find the stock recovery.img for your model and flash it in TWRP.

Head over to THIS thread, grab the appropriate recovery.img, then install it using TWRP with the INSTALL IMAGE option.

Before I installed TWRP, I extracted the stock recovery in case anyone needed it for some reason. The zip file contains the recovery.img file and instructions.

You can find the D802 recovery here. I'm just curious as to the method of installing it.

Well you can get it easily if you have a vzw kdz then use the kdz/tot extractor in the dev section and convert the recovery.bin to recovery.img using an app like magiciso

Well the way the op recommends it is:
1 - Copy recovery.img to root of SDCard
2 - Open Terminal Emulator (or adb shell) with root and run the following command-
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
3 - Reboot
But I don't know if that would work in all cases/haven't tried, the other way to flash it is by getting into fastboot mode via adb or something and using following commands:
-fastboot erase recovery
-fastboot flash recovery recovery.omg

Is this OK for 4.4.2 20c FW? I see the original post is from last year. Just don't want to brick my newly bought phone. I just did root and install TWRP recovery. Now I see there is a 20u update and read that upgrading will result in bootloop. I wanna get back to stock recovery so I can safely upgrade

Did you manage to do it?
I needed to update too, similar thought process. Wondering whether i can flash this *.img using Flashify. I also made a backup of my stock recovery.img before I installed TWRP, could that be used either?
And most importantly, was the OTA update smooth after you got stock recovery back?
Worst case scenario, no TWRP recovery & unable to boot...

hi i bought a refurbished lg g2d800 but accidentally i flashed a kdz file of d802 now my touch isnt working and imei is gone too please some body help mew
Hi,
I read many many Tutorials and Threads and it seems like there are a hundred ways to unlock and flash twrp. But one thing I miss: Which twrp version to flash first? Directly after unlock.
As far as I understand i have to flash a Recovery as img in fastboot mode if there is no twrp installed.
My Questions:
1. Can I flash stock twrp from official twrp site?
2. Should I flash a custom twrp (alka or coffa)? If yes, why?
Thanks!
Sent from my p8000 using XDA-Developers mobile app
1. Yes, you can.
2. I suggest to flash alka, because you can do a full phone backup in case something goes wrong. It cannot be done with stock TWRP.

Perfect thx
One more question: as I understand, one advantage of alka is no need to flash cracked boot.img for miui Roms. Is that right? And do I have to choose between read and write mode (for ota's)? As far as I have read, none of this is needed.
Is there anything i have to consider if I flash a new rom with alka?
Thanks!

Yes, alka does have that feature but I haven't tried. For safety you can flash modified boot.img first. You can make one with android kitchen or I can upload it to you, just tell which ROM.
After flashing TWRP mount system as read only as showed in this pic. You should get OTA updates. http://i.imgur.com/Q0rHzmg.jpg
If you decide later to flash CM, Mokee, AOKP or other custom ROM, make a full backup with alka and for safety copy to your PC too.

How can ? do this im newbie at this And i cant find stock rom.
Follow these exact steps...
1. Find out if your model is c432 or c185 by going into about phone and reading model number
2. Download the respected stock rom file (i will link both stock rom files in the next reply)
3. Put the stock rom backup in internal storage ..
4. Boot into twrp
5. Click on wipe (or something similar)
6. Do a factory reset
6. Click on restore
7. Find the backup... click on it... install it..
8. Wait for installation to complete
9. Wipe cache and dalvik cache
10. Reboot...
It should reboot to stock rom... don't try to update this rom through OTA as you will still be on twrp recovery, not stock one
