Battery replacement for the P900 - Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Accessories

Can anyone suggest where to find good batteries?
I'm getting a used Note Pro and I don't know if the battery performance will still be decent. I'm buying a 30000mAh power bank along with it but I would love to know where I can find good batteries in case I want to replace them myself. I can do the replacement (skills and tools present) but I need to find a good battery first

3rd party batteries are a hit and miss. They just don't have the quality control big companies have. It's pretty cheap so just give it a shot. Returns on Amazon are easy.

Thank you... I saw that earlier but the mixed reviews threw me off. I was hoping someone here has had a positive experience with a particular brand.

Using that one now...
Been using that particular one for about 6 months now without problems, but quality varies on these generic brands. If you are going to be replacing the battery, make sure you clean and treat the terminals with Deoxit Red, then coat with Deoxit Gold http://a.co/dRU123V - that stuff is pricey, but worth every penny you spend. You will never have connection issues again. I use that every time I put something back together.
Also look around the site for instructions on how to re-solder the battery connectors - some users have had issues like flickering brightness because of marginal connectors. Hardest part is getting the back off (and it isn't hard) - just take your time and you won't have any problems.

I can attest to the minimal level of difficulty in removing the back panel of the sm-p900.
Just slow and steady with something similar to a medium-hard + hard guitar pick (credit/gift card thickness vary...or some guitar picks lol) And as usual, there is always the $100 plastics kit....which I want no part of, but spend it if you got it.
I just wedged a guitar pick between the backing and the screen (feel/look for the seam, you'll find it) to get the opening started, then wedged a credit card in to keep it from snapping back shut, and moved steady around the perimeter (adding chopped old gift cards in parts to keep from snapping back together) until the front and back separated.
There may be a couple of connections that would need to be disconnected prior to pulling the back panel and face completely apart (I think, but again, it's been a while now so don't hold me to that), but either way, I'm sure you could pull the connection for the battery (the battery is in the middle, top side, near camera) without having to fully separate, but it's much easier when separated all the way (in my experience at least).
I've had to reconnect the battery before after the battery connection became a tad loose somehow, causing the battery itself to get very hot (and very dangerous I might add) Now that I think about it, didn't this happen with a very popular phone recently SAMSUNG?!? And part of the GALAXY line? Hmm. Odd.

Hello, Where to buy original battery from Germany or Europe.

Photon for a Developer

Sorry, I didn't hear from anyone soon enough so it sold on eBay. Bad news for you, I guess, but another user for the Photon community.
-----------------------------------------------------
Hey Devs & Friends,
I sold my Photon a few weeks ago, but its coming back to me because an intermittent screen problem was just too annoying for the buyer. Occasionally, when the phone is particularly hot, the contacts to the battery become a a bit loose causing a "snow" pattern on the screen. The situation is quickly resolved by firmly squeezing the phone 1/3 the way up from the bottom (about where the battery contacts are).
I can send the phone to Sprint for an $80 bill credit, but would rather sell it to one of the devs here who can make use of it. It has all of the original parts, docs, an extra oem battery, charger, box, etc. I'm willing to sell it for a min $80 + priority mail shipping which will be about $10 in the US insured.
I expect to have this phone back from the buyer tomorrow, will validate the ESN has been cleared and that everything was as I sent it to him and would like to turn this around as soon as possible. Please PM me if you are interested.
I appreciate all the work you guys have done (and continue to do) on this device. I've enjoyed the many ports of ICS, CM9, AOKP, MIUI, etc. that have been out there. Hopefully this will help somebody make it even more awesome.
Regards,
..rob
sounds like an easy fix with a little padding (such as paper) in the appropriate place next to the battery.

Yes, I'm sure that's the case. The buyer wasn't too interested in trying a work around. I don't like to be a "hard ass" on my eBay sales, so I took it back, but I know somebody can use it. It comes with a couple TPC cases, two OEM batteries, original packaging, and an external battery charger.

[Q] Question about i777 charging port replacement

I have a very specific question with regards to replacing the charging port on the i777. I have searched threads discussing charging port replacement, but was unable to find anything about this specific issue. I am currently going through my first repair on my i777 that needs a new charging port. I bought the replacement on ebay, but something stood out once I compared it to the original charging port I took out. On the original there is a small rubber piece hanging down (around where the screw holes are). On the replacement piece it's just a metal piece hanging down in the same place. Do I need to have that rubber piece on the replacement charging port? Would it even affect the functionality of the phone? Is there a way to take the rubber piece off the original and transfer it to the replacement, or should I just buy one with the rubber piece on? If someone has asked this question already forgive me, but I did not see it in the thread I skimmed through.
Here is a pic of both them side by side. The top one is the original and the bottom is the replacement I got from ebay.

It would not let me post link yet so just remove parentesis and spaces to view picture link.
That gray part is for waterproofing the microphone I believe. It just slides off of the old part and onto the new one, just be careful. Also if you have no signal, by now you may have already found the following thread. I had to do this a couple of weeks ago to get a signal: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950114&page=5 I'll try harder to match up the part numbers next time!

i'll report back once i have them
i already took the phone apart just to peek around inside, the part looks just like what's already there. the picture shows some teal/aqua colored tabs towards the bottom, im assuming these are peel off for an adhesive (there did seem to be an adhesive holding the part in place).
based on that link mentioned i would say that cutting is a little extreme, it looks like they cut the board in half, which is definitely NOT how it comes stock.
again i'll report back once i've got the chips. and for under $8 with free shipping i cant really complain even if they dont work out.
The only thing you're actually cutting (electronically) is the ground plane of the board shared by the antenna/radio and the charge port. In short, there's a super low risk of messing anything up, unless you use a sawzall to complete the job.
I assume that it was more cost effective for Samsung to put those items on the same board, but it's a punk move to attach a known replacement part to an antenna that varies by region. Either way, I'm glad to know that the hack is an option but I'd be happier to know that the hack isn't necessary.

Just wanted to report success. The part from new egg worked and was really easy to swap.
I don't have the right size sim card anymore since switching my primary carry, so I can't test reception, but otherwise everything is working (charging, wifi, Bluetooth, etc)
P.s. I did not modify the item I received (no cutting) and it is a 2.3 where the original I removed was a 2.2. I've saved the 2.2 just in case something comes up.

Thanks, but I'm afraid that we won't know whether the replacement part is a proper replacement until there is a sim-card involved. Reception is the rub (see post below from the board-mod thread).

I'll see if I can find a friend with a full size Sim over the next few days and test the reliability. But honestly I'd have to it may be better for people to find a rev 2.2
But for anyone who no longer uses the phone for cell service, the new egg part works great for a cheap and easy charge port replacement.

Rear Camera 'vibrating' defect

This is a PSA for anyone who uses their HTC 10 on a car, truck, motorcycle, or any place where there is vibration. Some part of the camera mechanism (the camera, laser sensor, or something else) fails after being used around a lot of vibration. The front camera is fine, and I've removed the gel cover/protector and cleaned all the surfaces. I don't use the camera a lot, so it's not from overuse.
The image shown on the screen is what you would see if you taped it to the shaking machine used at paint stores. There is an audible vibrating sound and feeling from the top of the phone by the camera and not from the bottom where the real vibration unit is.
This is now the second phone that has died like this. I did some research and this has happened to other HTC phones. Such a disappointment that they didn’t test the device thoroughly enough. It's still basically new, so I'm not taking it apart to see what's going on inside. I'll take it back to Verizon and demand a new unit on the spot and not have to wait for another remanufactured POS to be sent.
LOL..umm..yeah.I believe this phone also fails if used under water, near molten lava, and will succumb to repeated hammer abuse.lol
Though I agree with you that if there's a failure while using it on a motorcycle mount it certainly deserves a warranty replacement...I don't think taping it to a mechanical paint can shaker can be used as evidence of a design defect. No normal person uses their phone taped to a paint shaker.
I may be wrong, but I imagine that scenario causing WAY more vibration than using it on a motorcycle phone mount.
This is totally the ois. Optical image stabilization uses very small motor movements of the optical assembly to maintain focus. Understandable it has a limit and can be hosed by excessive vibration. Also very possible that the op had a defective one. Read up on the iPhone 6+ and their ois failures that affected a large number of phones.

I've used 4 phones on a motorcycle mount and the 10 is the only device to fail twice.
The paint shaker was an example of what the screen shows after failing, not as an example of a clearly abusive use case. Sarcasm and no contribution to the dialog really doesn’t help.
The knowledge of cameras and the ois is helpful; thank you for providing a beneficial reference for more reading.

True...I apologize for the sarcasm...and dottat is on point as always. But your initial post when literally read didn't say your phone camera failed due to your use of it on a motorcycle/truck/car mount...you simply issued a warning for those who might use it in that manner and about using it around a lot of vibration based on your tests of it failing on a paint shaker...lol
From the initial read of your post I took it as you were crying wolf which is even less useful than funny sarcasm in the world.
But I will certainly refrain from using it this way in my car and stick with hot spotting my 10 and let my M8 or ipad mini take the abuse while Wazing etc.
Handshake. I'll own that I was vague on the specific use case because of what my ex-wife would call paranoia that my carrier was watching the posts and deny claims to any moron using a paint mixing machine on his motorcycle
Perhaps some levity... ever wonder what would happen to that mounted phone if the wind force also identified a weak connection between the backplate and top of the mount "pole"? Never happened to me, but do the math on that one.
I solved the camera problem and did the math on the phone flying off the bike at California highway speeds last night in 3 words "there it goes..."
The camera got fixed by a new phone being ordered through Asurion, and the math is $150 (insurance deductible) + $100 for new SanDisk Extreme Plus 128gb SD card + $40 for my third Sunshine mailing + $60 for a new cradle, gummy body shell, and TechGlass Skinomi screen protector. $340 is the answer. Oh, add several hours to figure out how to dampen vibrations.
Until then, it's back to the best phone I've had in years and still like better than the 10, the G3. If LG makes a new version later this year that's close and gets unlocked, the 10 will be gone in minutes. Oh, the camera works fine on the G3 with 10k miles on it.

Sunshine no longer requires mail in. Why not just warranty it through HTC for free? They have an advanced replacement option.

Sorry for the wording. I'm looking forward to getting the 10 now because it's sound and processing power are great. I do have to say my G3 is still my favorite and I tried Fulmics rom and it's an amazing piece of work. If LeeDroid, Viper, or another builds such an amazing version of the stock rom, the 10 will be unbelievably good. I'll stop now because I'm guilty of taking this way off topic.

You can get Leedroid over in the regular HTC 10 forum. His rom will flash to Verizon. The last time I flashed it though there was a data roaming bug if your phone was on 3g.

The new 10 is up and running. I am getting a fixed mount that will eliminate the "how about a new phone right NOW" problem. I'm researching a different cradle that has equal holding grip and also some damping capability. The motorcycle forums cover that topic. The hardware version is still 0001 (after 3 of them).
The camera on phone #3 is broken after just 2 days of commuting with it in my jacket which is the equivalent of a what someone who rides a bicycle would do. I don't care what anyone says, this phone has inferior camera sensors. If you have an active lifestyle, stay away. I so want it to work, but after 3 phones, it has proven my original statement.
As soon as an equivalent phone hits the market and is unlocked/rooted, I'm jumping ship.

Don't get a phone with ois. Something you are doing doesn't agree with it. Hell I fly airplanes and film video while in them with my phone and still am on phone number 1. I run half marathons with the thing in a pouch with sweat all over it and no problems.

No argument, this is is a pocket only device for me. Easy to Hotspot to the 4 bulletproof Flo's I have.
I had a long conversation with my carrier yesterday and I'm being sent a new one as a mfg defect (fact, not opinion). Again, not arguing I need to treat this phone more carefully, but my problem was not the first. Out of respect for the positive discussion here, I'll just say I hope HTC is able to make a firmware or hardware revision to reduce the chances of this particular issue.
I've always liked HTC and there is some of the best and brightest Android minds doing awesome work on this phone and I don't want to discourage anyone from jumping on board.

New phone was a new, in box model, but the build still says 0001, so HTC is still on the first parts build (I'd that field in settings is accurate).
I ordered mounting hardware from Adaptive Technologies because they were the only company who marketed specific vibration reduction design. We'll see.

The funny thing is they don't really increment the hardware version even if they use different displays etc. I wouldn't put much weight in that number at all.
Thanks for this thread. I am a new motorcycle rider and my HTC 10 lasted about 4 months of motorcycle riding. I replaced it because it has a battery issue and a broken vibrate motor. My new 10 lasted about a month of motorcycle use. I thought it was a software or firmware issue.

Very quick review of the Nokia 7.1

Hello all,
I just received my 7.1 and thought I'd just give everyone some quick impressions. The "Blue" color is almost black it's so dark. Not a deal breaker for me but it's darker than I expected.
It feels good. Solid. The screen is pretty good as well and bright enough to be usable in direct sunlight. Not Samsung bright but good.
It seems pretty snappy overall but I'm used to using an S8+ and an Essential PH-1 (the PH-1 has battery issues that Essential won't fix so the 7.1 is it's replacement) which are both very quick phones. It's not slow by any means I'm just used to super fast.
I've spent most of the afternoon getting it setup and installing apps and only used about 40% of the battery but got three hours of SOT so that seems somewhat promising.
Played with the camera just a bit. The pic I posted is straight out of the camera.
It came on the September security patch and no updates are available as of yet.
It's bare bones Android as expected but there are a couple of settings that I can't find one being how to enable the battery percentage in the status bar. I've enabled System UI Tuner and it's not in there or in any of the Battery settings that I can find.
And I can confirm that it is a dual sim device and I can enable WiFi calling but it remains to be seen if it will work because I am on AT&T prepaid and pretty sure I don't have it.
It comes with some earbuds a charger and cable in the box.
I really want to put it in a case. I hope some become available soon.
Anyway if anyone has a question I will answer what I can.
I seen a few camera samples before yours, and the pictures look good until you zoom in a little and see that all the detail is gone. Do you think it’s just Nokia’s camera app? I’d like to see how google camera does on this phone.
I don't know what to say about that except the sample on my pc looks much better than the sample here. I can't explain it, but it's plain to see. I would try a gcam version if I can figure out which one seems the most compatible. I can install ProShot and see if that gets better results.
I haven't spent much time with the camera app but I thought it was fine as far as usability goes but then again I'm not all that demanding. I'm more of a point and shoot user.
It's not as good as my S8+ but I really wouldn't expect it to be either for less than half the cost.
If the weather clears up here maybe I'll take the S8 and the 7.1 out and do a comparison.

I'm returning the phone to Amazon. The case situation is ridiculous. Nokia support referred me to a Nokia case that Amazon says "one to three months" wait. When I asked the support rep why Nokia didn't have anything ready at the launch they just referred me back to the Nokia case. The phone is slippery and I've already almost dropped it more than once. I'm returning it before I damage it.
Edit: Bought a Pixel 2 instead which is what I should have done in the first place.
Mmm was thinking of replacing my PH-1 with this. I don't have battery issues but my touch screen is like super fu**ed with ghost touch, flickering, and bad service in my area (switching to att in few weeks). Amazon is willing to give me a full refund but was not sure if I should take it or RMA with Essential for screen.
You just returning the Nokia cause no case options ? Everything else seems to work straight? Obviously anything camera wise can beat the essential so that's why I was looking into 7.1 lol.

Yes I returned it because I'm not comfortable carrying a slippery bar of soap around until someone decides to release a case. The phone itself was fine for what it cost. I almost dropped it a couple of times and if I drop it without a case it's on me. Nokia screwed the pooch here because it's a decent device let down by absolutely no third party support. Nokia can't even deliver their own cases! Those are showing as one to three months to deliver. All the Chinese cases have very vague shipping dates from the middle of November to the Middle of December.
I realize not everyone will feel this way but I decided I would be better off returning it now. I really wanted a Pixel 2 anyway so that's what I did.
The camera was decent and I managed to get a Gcam mod working on it (GCam-5.1.018-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.3b1) but never really got the time to test it out quality-wise.
If you can live with little to no options for a case it's worth the money as far as I'm concerned.
Thanks for the insight man!
I may just order one once I send this PH-1 back then. Ill just get a universal slip in phone case or flipcase from 5below until I'm able to get a case for it then. That or steal otn of my kids Power Ranger socks from the dryer and carry it around like that till end of November.

Battery Replacement From iFixIt

Hello fellow 6t users!
This phone has served me well for a long time now. Only issue Im having now is the battery life is crap, to be expected after heavy use for a few years. I ordered a replacement battery from iFixIt for 20 bucks. I already replaced the back glass about a year ago and I've done phone repairs in the past so the process itself isn't intimidating since I have the right tools. I use to be able to get 8hrs or more of SOT, I average about 4 hours now. Checking the battery health at /sys/class/power_supply/bms/battery_health, my battery is at 76% compared to it's original state. I was planning on the op9 pro, but I had some home repairs come up that's going to put me back about 10k so I figured I'd spend 20-40 bucks on elongating the usability of my phone. I also purchased another back glass replacement in case I crack my current one during the repair. It only cost me 17 bucks on Amazon.
The point of this thread is to let anyone know in my situation if it's worth to replace the old jacked up battery in their 6t instead of shelling out cash for a new phone.
I'll update the thread when the new battery is installed and let you guys know if it's worth it!

IMO ... if your phone is still working fine (except for the battery) and you are happy with it, you will never get a better (new) device for 20,- bucks. So go for the battery replacement

Agreed! Just hoping the new battery will bring back the epic SOT I used to squeeze out of this thing.
I also recently got my battery replaced by Oneplus and I can say that the battery life is like how it was when the phone was brand new. With a similar usage pattern I'm ending the day with 30-40% battery remaining with around 6-7hrs SOT. Would definitely recommend to go for it.
I also bought a battery in ifixit and I wait for your results to make the change
I have a new battery and tools on the way for mine as well. Def worth it.

Thank you very much for the update, currently I get about 5:30 hours of screen, but I want to see how it goes for you, I know that each use is different but in the same way I want to know how you are doing

I'm lucky if I can get 5hrs of screen on time. My phone is currently at 38% with 2hrs and 20 minutes of SOT lol
Lots of issues with the newer phones and Android 10/11... 3 strikes and a lot of dropped balls. Perhaps the latter half of this year will be better but I doubt it.
If your device serves you well and fullfills it's mission than a battery replacement is a homerun.

Op6t is still a powerhouse of a phone. Battery life just sucks right now. Hopefully the swap will be worth it. I'll be doing it later today at some point and report back
Can you guys post a link for battery you purchased and which is worth the money?
I do not wanna buy something unknown from Aliexpress or similar
I purchased new original battery from rounded and its been working perfectly for about 3 months now!

This one is oem too and a bit cheaper. Been working great for me, shipping just takes a month or two.

Ok guys sorry for the delay. I got pretty sick with Covid and then fell behind with work and life. I have installed the new battery from ifixit and charged to 100. I'll be updating the thread with results and let everyone if I know if it's worth the trouble. Honestly the whole operation took me 20 minutes if that.

Hope you're making an uneventful recovery. The smell and/or taste thing may take a few weeks or months to return to normal. Don't rush it for the first week or whatever it takes after you're feeling better. The body has tremendous healing capacity if you give it the rest it needs
Yeah I think that was a bit $teep.
It was $67 plus a C port PCB (which I haven't yet recieved) for my Note 10+.
I saw how hard it was to replace the 10+'s battery. It's rated as one of the more difficult... meh. I wasn't impressed.
I can do it better myself... so next time I will.
The goofball didn't use a ESD strap or pad.
So far no failures but ESD doesn't kill on the spot many times.
You need the right tools mostly drivers and plastic picks, fine tweezers (about $30), the two sided adhesive seals, anhydrous isopropyl alcohol with needle applicator and a heat gun.
I've done a lot of electronic assembly including replacing LCDs in two Canon pro cams which are more intense to repair.
If you have no ESD mat & strap do it on a smooth bare wood surface with a room RH of 50-75% (simply boil some water to raise it). The more clean room like the better.
If you have steady hands, don't rush getting the rear cover off, pay close attention, understand how to undo/connect the microconnectors, and slowly, carefully pry the battery out using a small amount of isopropyl alcohol as needed it's no big deal. You need to keep track of the screws which maybe different sizes and reassembly exactly as disassembled The screws need very little torque to tighten... don't strip em.
If you have never done anything like this and are all thumbs you could get in over your head.
Otherwise just do it... watch a few vids of others to get a feel for it and gauge if it's within your capabilities. Back panel are generally cheap if you crack a glass one. However don't screw up removing the battery as it usually rests directly on the display, easy does it right.
Get the product seals for that model whenever possible, maybe an extra set just in case. Otherwise you need that exact thickness double sided specialty tape.
It's not as bad as it may sound but the details matter.
Yeah I did this repair without the proper electronic tweezers, I used regular tweezers lol. I've replaced the backglass before this mod so I was experienced in taking it off. So far the battery life is better, bit to be honest it's not great. We'll see how it goes.
