Google Play Hacking help - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello. Does anybody know where on the device in root explorer I can find where the play store keeps my account info. Any help is appreciated!

That's not a simple question as it's only partially on the device and partially online. I'm curious what you are even trying to do since most paid apps can be downloaded as an apk anyway.

Oh, I'm actually not sure lol. But I assume it's encrypted or extremely well hidden and buried, just in case user gets a virus or malware it's gotta be unreachable by normal standards. Otherwise Google would not be very secure. Your balance would be on the Google server I'm sure.

[Workaround] Show only purchased apps in Google Play Store

Here is the file. Be sure to click on old market when you have it open, if you don't like it click on new market. Pretty straight forward. HOWEVER. It installed perfect for me but when I tried to get my apps up it would always time out. I think it is only because of my network though. So perhaps others should try it anyways.

The above posts both provide a workaround/partial solution. Here is my suggestion...
If you choose to try Old Market, when you launch it you can choose "old" or "new" market. It requires root permissions to work. After selecting which Market you would like, it will reboot the device and, once it is booted, the market you chose will be installed. Take note that I did in fact still see some free apps that weren't installed, but not all of them. Perhaps they were only the apps that were downloaded to this specific device/ROM.
That said, the "old" Market is indeed the very old V2 Market. I went back to "new" Market (V3), and it upgraded itself back to Google Play after a little while.
Unless you truly like the old interface of the Market, I'd recommend you go with CosmicDan's suggestion of logging in to Google Wallet and viewing your transaction history. This will give you a list of only the apps you have purchased. Unfortunately you can not install them to your device from there, but at least you can see only the apps you have purchased without seeing every app you have ever downloaded.

Is there a way to view only one's purchased apps in the new Play Store? The new interface for the My Apps section does not seem to have a way to do this like it used to, instead showing seemingly every app one has ever downloaded, with purchased apps mixed in (in no logical order).

Big time bump on this! They really do need to add a tab that shows purchased not just installed and history.
Just ran across this. Hope there is a fix in the works. Not being able to sort the apps is a major FAIL.
I let my son have my old droid and he went crazy downloading what looks like every free app offered....my mistake for not creating a junk gmail account. Now I have literally hundreds and hundreds of apps listed in my app section of the play store.
Bump, I would like to know also
It appears that even the app management section of the Google Play website doesn't have this capability. On the positive side, the site looks great! -_-
This is just wrong, when you've bought allot of apps and downloaded plenty of free apps.
There's got to be an easier way to see what you've bought and redownload!
Someone got a clue?

This is such a fkn annoying issue. BUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The other thing is there should be a tab to multi select app installs so you aren't directed to the install screen and forced to start from the beginning of the main screen after you go back. If that is not an option at least add the ability to install "ALL" paid apps.
Why in the hell would we not get the option to see purchased apps only but we get the option to see "ALL" downloaded apps paid or unpaid. That's just fkn ridiculous
P.S. To anyone that is going to tell me to roll back or move previous apk versions to system/app or even use an app to do it for you and blah blah blah. I have tried everything.
The closest I got was using the apk I will attach for everyone here. Be sure to unzip it and move the file to your phone and use a file explorer to install it.

so I should be able to choose which market I want to use on the fly when I install this apk?
This has got to be one of google's biggest recent FAILS.
It's been like this for over a month now, and what seems like a very simple and basic fix hasn't even arrived yet. Do you all think they are even aware of this being an issue for us?

Not likely any time soon in my opinion. I'm quite positive that they knowingly made the decision to change (read remove) the list of only paid apps in the Play Store, in an effort to "improve" the app. Unfortunately.
.— Powered by Nexus —.
Another Google Fail just like the crappy resolution contact pictures that they refuse to fix. Thanks google for making have to make duplicate phone contacts and link everything. Also thank you for getting rid of showing only the paid apps.
Google has always been a piece of.. garbage, but as of late, they have just been, a piece of... junk..
Well, I do not think Google forgot to have that view. From their point of view it absolutely makes sense:
If you forget about an app you bought some day, you might end up buying another one, providing the same functionality later. And that is where they get money from, not you re-installing an already bought app.
It does not go too well with the "don't be evil" motto, but this was clearly a deliberate choice by Google.

The r2 works fine for me. I've put it to /system/app … I had to delete the app data to make it run again after a reboot, though.

What are "Android services"?

When an app gets permission to access your Google account's Android services exactly what does it have access to? Is it authenticated to access all your google stuff including gmail?
For example, I installed Changelog Droid from the play store and it wants to access my Android services. I understand it probably only needs the permission to access my play store account to analyze my installed apps, but what else is open to it if I give it the permission?
I could not find a definite answer anywhere.

Yes (it includes access to all the Google apps, actually).

Thanks for your response, RoberGalarga. It sucks that one has to give up so much for apps that do so little. Google should really segment account access a lot more. It would be great to have an easy to understand resource on which permissions are safe (privacy-wise) and which ones give away keys to the kingdom.

Got my Omate yesterday! Now What?

Okay. Finally got my Omate. Seems to be good quality. Got out my old ATT SIM and put in there. Seems to work fine. My question is now what do I do with it. I remember when they first announced it that google play store was an option, but it appears that didn't work out. There was such a lag between order and when I got it that I kind of lost track of what was going on with it. So what do I do with it now. I would to get some play store apps on it, and is it possible for it to connect to my iPhone?

Think the watch only works with android phones, but i could be wrong.
No iOS support til the x201 gets updated to 4.3 or better.

You can install whatever you want. Play Store is one of the first things to get put on. Google the .apk file and install it.
And the first thing he should do is?
*raises hand* pick me pick me...apply your patch
Apply patch, install custom ROM, anything to get off of stock firmware.

LOL. Thanks Guys. So I can just install the APK for the play store without rooting or doing anything to the Omate. And what is the "patch"?
You can do that, install the Play Store and necessary GApps to support it via a link to an AndroidPolice article you will find in a number of places. If you do though, the watch is totally open to any malicious app that might want your passwords, like to your Google account, since everything on the unlatched TrueSmart runs with root privileges by default. Wide open, except for well behaved apps that ask for root through SU...those won't work (like Root Explorer) because there is no su to ask for elevated privileges. I think I got that mostly right ?
Anyway, unless you have some particular reason to run your TrueSmart totally insecurely, exposing all the private data and credentials it ever touches, run Loki's Enhanced Security patch immediately. Before you first type in your Google account credentials.

Google Play Services Downgrade (HELP)

Currently, I am on android 8.0 on my Galaxy S8+ and I'm trying to downgrade to Google Play Services 12.6.85, but for some reason I'm having troubles. So, I know the steps to actually disable the google play service, uninstall updates, download the older update and just install. The problem is, every time when I go to download the version I want (12.6.85) it just says "App Not Installed"
At this point, I've literally tried everything and still no luck unfortunately. When I remove all updates from the current Google Play Services, it drops down to version 13.x.xx and I'm not sure why this is happening. All I can really think of is that they patched the downgrading method and this no longer works, or something is wrong. Yes, I've double checked I'm installing the correct version of the Google Play Service update to my phone, and nothing seems to work.
Also, I've done this downgrade method many times in the past, so this isn't my first time doing this downgrade method. Now that the downgrading method doesn't work, I'm hoping someone can maybe post a work around of some sort so I can actually downgrade my Google Play Services to an older update.
If you have any information on this or if you have a work around, please don't hesitate to reply, I'd love to hear your feedback!
Thanks

No, but I've done this downgrade before without root. I wonder why it's no longer working, maybe they patched this?

I'm having the same issue. What did you end up doing?
Maybe it has to do will another Google system apk needing to be brought back to the original factory load version too. Another loaded system app is incompatible with the older GPS... just a guess.
Sounds like a firmware update changed your playing field. If so it may be a real mess to try to correct.
Rule#1- never update a fast, stable OS if it's fulfilling its mission.

Wow. That was a quick response.
Any help would be really appreciated.
I'm not a developer or anything like that, and I don't know anything about phones.
I have a Samsung 8+.
I uninstalled Google Play services to factory settings which is "17.4.55".
I've downloaded the "12.6.85" version for my device, but when I try to install it tells me "App not installed".
P.s. (idk what this whole rooted/unrooted business is, but whatever the device default is, is what I got.) I don't have a pc to do all this stuff to root/unroot my device.
Any thoughts?

I know very little about rooting... because it's a time sucking blackhole I have avoided doing it.
Normally going to Playstore is how you update this bothersome app. It doesn't do a whole lot but you need it for Gmail, Playstore and some 3rd apps. I run with it disabled most of the time.
Is your current version not working?

It works, but I need the lower 12.6.85 version in order for another app to work properly.
But someone just sent me a message saying:
"You can't install an older version of the Google Play Services on top of a newer, default version."
If this is the case, is there no hope to downgrade the Google Play service on my device?

No clue, sorry. Online gaming? Sounds like trouble... be careful what you load.
It may be trying to skirt around security protocols. A rootkit on your rooted phone wouldn't be fun.
OS's below Pie are vulnerable to the worst rootkits there are. They can infect the system partition.

The last bit went completely over my head.
But, yeah. I've been searching for days now on a safe way to use this one joystick app to help me on a game, PokemonGo. Long story short, the game requires traveling around to play, but I'm in an area where I can't travel. This joystick app would help me travel in the game without traveling from home.
Anyway, I've read that many people do it easily with a rooted phone, but seems like a more difficult feat than I can accomplish.

Question Google Pay

Does it work?
Thank you
Yes
Did you try? Thank you
Oh my fault! I read "play"
As I read on the internet "it should work". Can only test it as soon as mine has arrived.
I've set mine up but I don't typically use Google pay. If I have the opportunity to use it I'll let you know. It appears to be functional though.
thank you very much, if you set it up will work !
Also wondering if NA bank apps would also work?
Base on Michael Fisher youtube review...he seems to have issue seting up google pay.
Keen on this phone...anyone who got it please do feed back if it works with google pay for contactless payment.
Yes Please...if anyone has the Find N and can verify if Google Pay works it would be very appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Almost pulled the trigger here in Canada but was waiting for someone to have tried google account sync (contacts and calendar) as well as Google pay. Those that are selling it on eBay and no reviewer has said either work (with proof). Hence why I would love if someone can report back here.

Anyone seeing what some of the reviewers have said with apps sleeping and no notifications? Any other watch outs for Google apps not behaving?

Ya, Michael Fisher said he did that but for whatever reason, he was still not getting notifications consistently from the apps he did this to. Oh well....guess people have to try it themselves to truly believe it.
I was so excited to get on here and let you know my seller, PDA Plaza has verified that Google Pay indeed works as does syncing of Google accounts such as calendar and contacts but others beat me to it but good news none the less. I now have to wait to get the phone but just a heads up that Constatine at PDA Plaza has been a fantastic help and really great to work with.
There is a setting under the apps menu to allow the app to run as a foreground service. If you select this then app notifications come through instantly everytime just like any other phone. You so have to allow the app to send notifications as it is set to off for each app by default.

Yes it is and it works - but it is limited to only 5 apps. I would need a lot more apps to work in the foreground. Any solution?
