Does my battery stats file become "misconfigured" or uncalibrated whenever I switch batteries?
I buy extra batteries to use when i'm getting low, and I like to switch them out. All including different mAh's (1000, 1700, 3500).
If so will I lose battery life? I am trying to figure why my battery is running low, had the tiamat kernel and it was beautiful with some issues though, and now i'm running bcblend and my battery is dead after 6 hours.
Switching batteries throws calibration off.

Try a battery calibration app for root users.. The downside is... Well... You have to be rooted. This is just a suggestion but you could also buy a 4000mAh Seidio battery.. Downside is... Your phone will be super thick.
It's your call.

Thanks, I have the battery calibration app, but I think I have to fully charge and discharge the phone to get the best results....sign. Ok, just wondering.
I've been highly tempted to get the 4000mAh battery, the extra size doesn't bother me necessarily but I love my case, and I'd have to dish out for the battery, a new case (to hold the larger phone), and then probably get a phone clip in case the phone is uncomfortable in my pocket.
I bought a 3500mAh battery off ebay for like $12, but there is no case for it =/
Hello
I am hoping some company
will make a 4000mAh Extended slim battery for the Note 3
wonder who will come out 1st with it
ZeroLemon
Hyperion
Seidio
Anker
Mpj
the GN3 itself is bulky already, how come you would get an extended battery for that beast?

well they made it so thin, i think there's a little leeway for an extended battery. Not sure many would see the value in it but i'd try one out.
You have to consider the factor that the OEM battery has NFC antenna.
I think I'm just going to go the external battery pack route. I'll try to find a nice 2.1A model with 5000+mAh

When you use a battery to charge another battery, you lose about 50% mah in the process. So, that 5000 mah gets cut down to only 2500 mah which your phone can actually use.

You are just pulling numbers out of your ass. I would expect around 80-90% efficiency out of one of those battery packs, which is pretty bad as is.

I've got a 4 x 18650 cell 2.5A output battery box off eBay and measured only about ~65% efficiency, giving aproximately 6500mah out of 10000mah. Still, really handy to have around.

That is really piss poor. Did you measure the efficiency directly or just by charging your battery x times? Because 80% efficiency on the output and 80% efficiency on the charge would about explain that terrible performance.

I could charge my 2012 Nexus 7 about 1.5 times giving the 65% figure. However I did also measure the capacity strictly using the 5V output and a proper discharger giving only about ~80% efficiency. Stepping up DC isn't the most efficient thing to do.

DC-DC can be very efficient with a known load and good components. But most of these units are super cheap and usually cheap out on the switchers. Often we get around 95-99% with any of our DC-DC circuits at work.

80-90% efficiency? Dream on.
Look at the Asus TF700t specs with and without the battery dock. The battery dock charges the tablet's internal battery. Crunch those number and see how efficient it is. Also, that's allowing the typical "exaggerated fudge factor" that most manufacturer's claim when marketing battery run time specs. In real world use, most people don't get those battery run times.

IMO bulky implies thick. It's long and wide, which to me is the bigger issue on pocketability. It's thinner than a lot of phones so I don't think a slim battery case is going to make it any worse (unless you wear really tight pants).

Thanks alot, you just costs me 61 bucks!!!!
This is one thing thats bothered me about the Note 3 since I left my MAXX HD. Hopefully this'll fix my problem
I'll come back with a review of this next week !
I got my Moto Z with battery pack for almost a week now
It seems battery mod drains faster than internal
With normal usage and both fully charged, mod takes around 5 hours to drop to 30% and internal at 100%
Without mod it takes a 10-12 hours for internal to drop to 40%
So after playing around and checking stats I noticed the phone accept the battery mod as an external charger
when battery mod is connected its like it is connected to charger so it wont doze or deep sleep and so that causes the battery mod drain very fast
So ...
for those who got the battery mod, I think its best not to connect the battery mod all the time, and use it as a charger when needed.
Are you using @janjan his ROM? There are some optimizations, battery saving not the least. You also should have the mode set to Efficiency Mode and not Standard, as Standard drains more power to keep the battery at 100% all the time, while Efficiency is much better for both the Internal Battery and Battery Pack.

I'm using @JackyGreen Rom, but will try @janjan too
The deference between standard and efficiency mode is not much, tried both.
As soon as battery drop to 80% which took around 3-4 hours on my average daily usage, it will be the same,
Phone uses mod as charger and will not sleep/doze and drain all the mod juice to keep battery at 80% and that takes up to 4-5 hours max.
I think its best if the mode has a 3rd option,
for example, start charging the phone at 50% and go up to 80%

Me too... I'm not sure if this can be obtained by kernel or by Rom (system)...
This could be a good tip for @janjan or @erfanoabdi for their future development... :fingers-crossed:

Any way to make the battery mod a bit more convenient would be much appreciated.
For now, I just keep it in my car dashboard and use it as a charger when needed.
I've noticed that my phone seems to doze when the battery pack is connected. Obviously it isn't as much as if the battery pack isn't connect, but my phone will sleep even with the mod connected. The behavior oddly didn't seem to appear until after about a weekof using the mod, but I can confirm that the battery pack does not keep the phone away as much as a regular external battery would

I'm testing my Moto Z with my Incipio and I don't see this behaviour on my phone: as soon as the main battery reach 80%, the charge start only every some minutes for short time laps just to mantain the 80% level...
This shouldn't create big issues with Doze mode and sleeping since of the short periods of charging... just look at the attached explaining screenshot...
To answer to topic question, in my first days of use, it seems to me that Incipio battery is a lot more efficient if used to throttle charging Moto Z ever @80% than toe charging it from lower levels.
In the second case it discharges very fast, while in first one it seems able to do it's work very efficiently with lower discharge rates... :fingers-crossed:
These are only impressions obviously...
Are there any cases/bumpers for the phone with the Incipio pack? It's a little slippery for me, so was hoping for a bumper that has some soft ridges or is matte.

Hi, I use a Moto Z but do not have the battery mod. But theoretically, you could hack in a way to control the charging of your phone with the battery mod even while keeping it plugged in all the time. You'll have to open up the battery mod and solder a miniature switch between the VCC line of the mod to the connector pin interface on the mod to do this. So only when the switch is closed, the mod starts to charge the device.
Like I said I do not have a battery mod to try this, but this is probably the easiest way to do it.

So that's a 5000mah battery?
You've done well to fit it in the battery bay!
I'm curious
Do you think it's using the extra capacity?
So is it using 0-5000, or maybe it's charging to 5000 then discharging to 1000 and shutting down
Or maybe it only charges to 4000?
If it's not indicating the charge level accurately I'd naively assume you'd need to use a custom kernel, though I'm out of my depth in terms of which could help
You're probably best to leave well alone and just blindly enjoy the extra capacity!
