Hi.
I just get that phone but cannot found any information here and googled.
What I am after is if there is any way to flash it with any other Android than stock ROM to remove sim lock.
Or any other ways to be sim free phone (don't mind pay few quid but codes are not working well).
Regards

no custom roms just yet. only root.
ive been trying to unlock the bootloader now i couple of days with no luck.
even tho with root and xposed and g2 tweaksbox and gravitybox you can dop alot
If we get Loki to work, then we will finally get custom recoveries/roms without unlocking the bootloader .
@Garcia98 is working on it.
EDIT: Bootloader Unlocked, no need for Loki anymore.

i hope we can make this work ASAP, i just hate that i dont have more knowlidge on this matter or else i would try everything to make it work. :silly:
Is there a way to dump the bootloader.img and then decompile it, so that we can perhaps find something there?
EDIT: Is it possible to dump the bootloader by doing the following?
Code:
adb shell
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5 of=/sdcard/bootloader
exit
adb pull /sdcard/bootloader
Or perhaps:
Code:
adb pull /dev/block/mmcblk0p5
(Probably a case of "Too easy to work")
And then decompile (or probably reverse-engineer it)?

Unfourtunally not (yet)

Probably won't be any custom roms either since G2 Mini is confirmed to get Android L, therefore by October all custom roms will be obsolete. You can expect work to start after Google releases Android L in September and G2 Mini gets it which should be somewhere in October.

Follow this guide to set up your build environment.
Get the 'local_manifest_w7.xml' put it in your .repo/local_manifests folder.
Make a 'repo sync'
It will update your CM source with the w7 device tree developed by Quarx.
Then you can compile CM11 for w7 on your pc using 'brunch w7'.
It complied with no errors on my ubuntu box.
Then you can follow this guide to port it to G2 mini:
How To Port CyanogenMod Android To Your Own Device

Hi, I Have an LG G Vista 2 that i am desperately looking to root. I feel that it has a lot of potential when it comes to specs for its price, but has a huge disadvantage because bloatware and cpu caps are slowing it down. IT would be really nice if someone could point me into the right direction (or even help root it and get cyanogenmod 13/14?!?). FWI on the XDA/ XDA Labs app when it selects "MY Device" it automatically chooses the LG G Vista 2 but then randomly swiches to the LG G Flex 2. I try to change my device but there is no option for it.
Thanks in advance,

The stock ROM is already installed on the device. Unless you are talking about CM/LOS based ROMs. Sadly, no one has been able to root or unlock the bootloader on this device.

You can't unlock the bootloader on this device, therefore we are left to exploits.
Hey Guys,
we always need to install custom recoveryes installed in order to install custom stuff on our device but it is always so critical and time consuming for many of the users. so what is the solution for this????
therefore I brings a tool for you that will automatically install STOCK/TWRP recovery on both MOTO G5 AND G5 PLUS (BOTH )
ya you heard right both moto g5 and g5 plus
For this you will need to only hit enter sometimes..............................
Steps-
1)Install Motorola Device Drivers
2)Download the zip and extract it
3)Run AIO FLASHER.BAT
4)Choose a option and start flashing.........

Not actually only that some people like me always brick their device while trying something new sometimes it happen 3-4 times a day so this tool comes very handy..
And also stock recoverys aren't available online separately so you get rid of downloading 1.4+1.4 GB files over internet only for getting ota updates

Sorry, no offense. I just don't like to be spoon fed. Someone might give me the 'wrong food' and then my phone is bricked. I like to be in control of what I'm doing. That's why I have most ADB and fastboot commands in my head to be easily typed in the console! Fastboot is such a relief for me compared to the old days, when I was forced to use Windows to be able to use Odin for my Samsung Galaxy Mini... (which was running on CM6!).
And about stock recoveries: they are only usable for stock roms! I always make sure that I have a working stock rom as a 'backup'. If, for some reason, I have to go back to stock (that'll be always temporary), I usually leave out the command 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img' to retain TWRP.
But yeah, there are always people that just root their stock rom and don't use a custom rom. And then they are surprised that their stock OTA won't install...
For me, stock roms are always outdated and very limited in use...

Either if someone is spoonfeeds you it is your duty to always check what he is feeding you it didn't harm your device.
And talking about the custom roms and stock ROMs in many cases people trust stock ROMs so they don't face any hessale in emergency( like network drop,GPS problems) and also they want root previlages in stock ROM to use some stuff.
But when the updates for stock ROMs arrived many users even don't know why they are unable to update so I made this stock recovery flasher for those people who always love updated stock ROM with root access
And talking about custom ROM for moto these are not much differ from stock (like xiaomi phones) so many people use stock ROMs with moto. And also we can get 70 % of custom ROM features with apps having root so it doesn't make a difference

Yes, you're right there's an 'audience' for this! So your scripts are useful for a lot of people.
I've always been a strange guy: I don't like upgraded but always outdated roms (Android 7.0 vs Android 7.1.2 and security patch level from 1st of January vs 5th of may).
Since there's CyanogenMod/LineageOS I've been using that, with the occasional escapade to the Resurrection Remix, AOKP, and Vanir. Last rom on my previous device was Invicta by @Silesh.Nair / @double_facepalm. Unfortunately not available for the G5 Plus...

how many similar topics will you write ??

To not open yet another topic- has anyone managed to root this thing? There seems to be no TWRP or CWM, I found the firmware as KDZ but I am unable so far to extract the boot.img since no tool I found seems to work with that version of a KDZ. There is of course the usual "tools" like https://tunesgo.wondershare.com but I am absolutely unsure if this tool is even working and if so how trustworthy it is.
You can root the (European) LG8x with an official "unlock code" by LG Developers. BUT there is no TWRP or a custom rom. You may try GSI-Roms. I doubt, that canadian or US LG G8x can be rooted at all.
