Hi, i often use Poweramp besides Google Maps in MultiWidow.
On my old S5 running RR 5.8.3 as well as on my new 1+5 the following occurs:
When using one of the two apps, the other one isn't focused anymore and "stops".
It continues working in the background but doesn't "move" anymore. For example the timeline of Poweramp stops.
I think that this behavior is normal but is there any way to keep both apps working?
Thanks in advance

Is it possible that applications can be kept running in the background whilst using other handset features such as the phone, people, Peep, camera etc ?
i.e. If you are tracking and a call comes in or you want to to use the camera, will the app stay running with the GPS active ?
I this app dependant or will Android kill the GPS and or app as soon as you select the Home button or Back button ?
GPS Status 2 for example does not keep the GPS live if you move to another app or take a phone call.
GeoBeagle is the same.
I thought Android could multitask
it can, but it doesn't mean that the programs are coded to do so.
most GPS apps are designed to be kept open and give you live updates, so if you leave them, they suspend to save battery. some of them, like my tracks and stuff like that will stay running i should imagine, but i would expect apps like geobeagle to close.
Thx, I thought as much.
Oh well, I will hunt down a GPS tracking app that will run in the background.
cheers
MyTracks happily runs in the background - it's a great application!
Regards,
Dave
Just grabbed it thx.
Will give it a go.
cheers
My Tracks is pretty awesome. I'm very impressed with Glympse aswell; a few screen clicks and you can send a link to a friend/colleague and they can open it and track your location in real time from a phone or PC.
Hi,
I put Cyanogenmod (some unofficial alpha or beta build from this forum) onto my GT i8150. While it generally runs great, the device suffers from its low memory (it only has 512 INCLUDING what is used for graphics).
When I switch between many apps and do stuff, the device becomes slower and slower. At some point it takes various seconds to do a simple switch to the home screen, and I get tons of "App XYZ is not responding. [Kill XYZ] [Wait]" popups - mainly for apps I had just open but which I am NOT using right now.
The list of the most annoying apps is G+, Hangouts, Plume, Google Maps, Feedly. Those eat enough system resources to be an annoyance, they run just well enough if launched on their own, but if others of them still work in the background the device is so ruined. Sometimes it's faster to take out the battery than to bother going to the task manager and throw all the recent apps out to fix things again (because it takes 1-2 minutes due to the massive slowness).
My idea was: can I blacklist certain apps from running in the background _ever_? I don't care about timely G+ notices, I certainly don't care about Google Maps running in the background (what is that useful for if I'm not just looking at the map?), and same for Feedly. I would really love to have those apps totally instant-killed the very second I switch out of them. Can this be done in some way?
Please note there are some apps I would like to keep running in the background (mainly Kaiden mail and Xabber for Jabber/XMPP chat), so I wouldn't want to turn off ALL apps running in the background.

I have a Moto X Force on Android 6.0 (of course, rooted, bootloader unlocked, Xposed ...)
This is the first time I have this problem and also the first time that I have a smartphone that runs on marshmallow.
The apps will automatically close, I guess that's liberate RAM (mine is always full at least 85%) even while I use! (but that is very very rare).
Let me explain: I call on Skype, meanwhile I am on the internet on Firefox and suddenly Skype closes and no "Skype has stopped" or other not, the system simply kill the process.
When I write a event on Google Calendar, if I go to another app for too long Google Calendar closes automatically, and when I come back on it, I started to write is lost.
But that, at worst, I deal with it.
BUT HOWEVER, when I listen to music on youtube.com on firefox and I'm on another app and the system decide to close firefox, it drives me crazy!
Sometimes the system never closes Firefox, but as soon as the use of RAM is a little too intense, it closes all he can.
How to stop that Android arbitrarily close everything and anything? Are there some app can be defined as "non closable" like Firefox, Skype or another.
At worst, if there is no other way to fix the "auto kill issue", how to listen to music on youtube with the screen lock other than with firefox?
I'm not in the US so I can not use Youtube Music and when I use an app like Unpause Me, sound is chopped, there are plenty of cut, but what is very strange is that this problem ONLY happens only when the screen is locked or that I'm on another app that Unpause Me, when I'm in Uplause Me the sound is perfect ! (I also have this issue when I'm in skype call). (on my Galaxy S3 who running KitKat I don't have this issue at all)
Thank you for your help guys, I really need: /
Hi,
i´m using the
[X82X][AOSP][7.1.2][VoLTE][UNOFFICIAL] Dirty Unicorns 7.1.2 [ViperFX/DolbyAtmos]
Rom on my Leeco Max 2 and want to use Android Auto.
But when i try to start the app it turn the screen black and after some seconds i´m back on my home screen.
Android auto is not loading. There is no error message.
I have used the Beans Google apps and installed Android Auto form Play Store.
Before on stock Rom is was able to start Android Auto but it does not connect to my car.
Someone can help me?
Do i need to installed a different android auto version????
Play Services are up to date.
I have the exact same problem on Stock EUI rom and on RR rom. Android Auto works on Stock rom on phone itself but if I connect to the car it appears on the in car display for a second and then disconnects and says phone disconnected on the head unit (FYI this is on a 2017 Columbus head unit, so basically any Audi/vw/seat/skoda).
I use cuocco Rom.
There Android auto is better but not completely working.
I can use Google maps and Spotify.
Also Whatsapp and Threema are working for incoming messages (AA is using text to speech).
But trying to send a Threema or Whatsapp message is not possible. Google does not recognize the messenger. It stucks at : "which messenger should I use? SMS, Threema or Whatsapp?"
I say : "Whatsapp"
But Google ask the question again.... And again
Maybe it will be get fixed some time....
Android Auto worked pretty well in LineageOS Marshmallow if I remember correctly. I haven't had any luck with Nougat roms.
Hello weeks ago post about android auto and leeco max 2, the stock ROM does not have the audio source option in developer options, so it is impossible to connect the leeco Max 2 to my car Kia river. Install lineage OS 6.0.1 and works correctly, calls, Google maps, Spotify, WhatsApp, SMS, only in the last update of Google app speech recognition fails to have the option on any screen, solve it by choosing only in android auto. The disadvantage is the battery consumption and lag with the fingerprint sensor. I do not know if there is a stock-based kernel that I added that option for Android auto
Android Auto does not work on my Max2 with current Rom. Which Rome works with a Skoda Octavia 2020? thanks
Heyyo @twicko, can you please tell us which ROM you are on and which GApps package you are using?
I use lineage. So it works now.
I found out today that there is an experimental version of GrapheneOS out for Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Anyone tried it yet?
It has been discussed a bit over here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/root-custom-roms-for-google-pixel-6.4356839/page-2
Also over on Reddit:

I have Grapheneos exp on my P6 here. No SIM in it, still messing around. Watching and waiting to see what else shows up to compare (Calyxos) before I commit to using it. It appears to be all there and working.
For those out there running Graphene, how has it been as a daily driver? Any issues that would stop one from running it daily?

I've been using it on a Pixel 4 and Pixel 4a. Only minor issue which I expect would also be on the Pixel 6 is that the Material You theming in Android 12 isn't yet supported. That means at this time, the highlight colors in the system menus are a bland grey colour instead of a bright colour. Daniel Micay, the lead developer did say in the Matrix chat group that the customization of colors will eventually be implemented.
I'm hearing it's very stable for Pixel 6.
Does it include google cam or will it work like stock if i install the apk?
No Google Cam. They have their own derivative cam app.
I have had to install ProtonAOSP over GrapheneOS. MS Outlook app crashing after 5 seconds, even after reset all settings. With Proton MS Outlook works fine. I'm not convinced I'l stay with Proton as there is still a heap on Google stuff in this ROM I don't want.
Proton looks complete, haven't seen anything that bothers me with it yet.

99% of apps work same as stock. Even my banking app works.
Of course you can install the camera app, it will work the same as stock. You do not need to use the GOS stock camera. I use gcam and photos app, and block both network access. Graphene allows blocking at OS level, not like a simple firewall, in which apps, even if blocked, they can still broadcast their intent to other apps.
Most importantly, you can install google play/store and these apps will behave like normal apps, with no extra permissions. To understand how huge this is, you need first to envision the scope of permissions these apps otherwise have (eg in stock OS or any other phone with google services/play installed).
I think grapheneos is the best thing you can have for your pixel. Its a shame not taking advantage of such amazing and secure OS.
A legend has worked out the Outlook issue:
App crashes related to upstream Webview updates? · Issue #105 · GrapheneOS/Vanadium
My wife started getting some apps crashing shortly after they're opened since updating to GrapheneOS 2021.03.19.14 on her Pixel 4. Is this related to what I've been reading regarding Google's bugge...

"I've successfully worked around the issue by downgrading to Outlook v4.2123.2."

Worth noting about installing GCam. I also need to install the GCam Services spoof apk. I also make sure I disable internet permission for GCam before opening it for the first time. Tapping on the photo preview icon won't work as Google's gallery app is missing. I use Simple Gallery from F-Droid.
