Is there a way to force the phone into 3G mode? Verizon's 4G signal is horrendous reception at and around my work to the point where you can only make a phone call, websites won't load, cant sent email, etc. However 3G works just fine. I was able to use the app 4G LTE Switch on my last phone the Droid Turbo and it was super easy. However I haven't been able to find a setting or an app that will work yet on this new phone.
Anything out there yet can can force this phone into 3G mode?

I just noticed when using the Quicker App with Gingerbread I can manually shut off 3g when in the previous 1.8.3 I could not. I've tested it and I can make a call with 3g off. I also tried surfing the web and could not, so 3g must be disconnected. I like that app because I can put the quicker shortcut in the status bar and access it from there.
I'm not really sure if it is just cutting data connection or shutting down 3g completely.
IIRC, the data connection and voice connection are separate since the data part was tacked on after the wireless companies had built all the voice infrastructure.
Does data connection=3g?
Data connection=gprs, edge, 3g, h, h+
Hello,
I'm in the Atlanta, Ga area and seem to have Wi-Max issues. When streaming internet radio, does anyone else have issues with Wi-Max stop receiving signals? It plays good for about 2 or 3 minutes then stops playing and tries to go to 3G. You can see both the 4G and 3G icons. Also does anyone else have issues with the handoff from 4G to 3G and vice versa. It tends to be horrible for me. I lose all internet connections. Instead of music resuming or internet resuming, it completely stops. I have to close the program and reopen it. Sometimes I have to turn the phone off and back on. And the Wi-Max area I live in has full Wi-Max coverage. It's getting very annoying to have your internet music buffering and you are still on 4G. Does Wi-Max not connect well with moving objects? If I use just 3G the radio plays fine without any stops or buffering. I didnt have this issue with the thunderbolt or at&t service. Just seeing if others in the area or anywhere else is having the same issues.
Thanks
The change-over "drop" is normal.
As for remaining connected, check out this thread and experiment with your settings. Don't forget to write down your original settings before you make any changes. Use at your own risk.

but i change to old rom, the speed also very slow too,
is any boddy know what happen with that ?
your data connection has everything to do with your data provider, and nothing but connecting with your phone. Set your data connection to gsm only see if it improves.

APN settings or something
I know using my Amaze 4G (AT&T medianet APNs), I get only 9kbits/s up 1000 kbits/s down using the Speedtest.net app.... going through a browser and trying a download tester site, it goes around 1000kbit/s each way.... when I tether, Speedtest.net app on my tablet says 1000kbit/s each way
Hey,
Is there anyway to force a reconnect to 3G network without switching to 3G only? Say i'm in a bad reception spot and i'm only getting 2G/EDGE, then i'm moving to a spot I know I can get a 3G/4G connection but my phone takes a really long time to switch over? Is there any command you can use in terminal or in the dial pad to force a recheck for a better network? I still want to use the network mode "2G/3G/4G auto".
I am looking for some way to easily switch networks from GSM only to LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto. Either by a widget, or automatically when I am connected to wifi. The cell coverage of LTE/3G is really poor where I live, and the phone keeps trying to connect to these, and I experience some dropped calls due to it. All solutions I have found require xposed. My phone is rooted running stock ROM. Any solutions?
