Hey,
I've a MI4C unusable at home, his sensor his an IMX 258, do you think it's possible to install it on redmi note 3 pro ?
What will happen camera will not be understand by software ? it's possible for me to add drivers or something on it to make camera working ?
Impossible.
Hey, thanks for your answer, that's sad
@jordandroid64 Well actually that might be possible. First of all check if you can stick Mi4c camera module to the kenzo's motherboard.
If it'll stick then you might need libs and kernel support but don't bother of it now.

Hey go ahead and give it a shot don't worry about the software support
Provided that the new sensor can work with the current hardware, building a kernel that supports it would be fairly easy!
Hey, so I've try, unfortunately that's impossible: sensor is bigger in redmi note 3 pro and has more pins.
I've try with k3 note, same size and same number of pins but opposite sense.
Redmi note 4x have some time an IMX258, and the pins looks like to be at the same number if someone have one, or one camera, maybe we could change with it... IMX 386 from Honor 6X is maybe compatible also.

Hey... Got my Redmi 3 Pro last week, this is a fantastic device!
I read a lot about it before I bought it but there is one question left: does it support Qualcomms Quickcharge 2.0?
Read about it in another forum, they couldn't give an answer. Also there is a list made by Qualcomm about the devices that support Quickcharge, there are some Xiaomi devices but no Redmi.
Is there anyone out there who can say yes or no?
Thanks

No.
So, yes and no like always.
Well, as far as I know, the thing is like that: the soc (snap 616) does support Qualcomm QuickCharge, but the device itself doesn't, because it isn't just about having a specific processor.. It requires also a certain level of quality in all the other components (and Redmi3, being a low end device, doesn't have it)
Redmi 3 only supports the "standard" 2A quick charge.. I have never tried checking the actual charging time.. I believe it is around 2,30 to 3 hours

What do you want? OF course it does not support! Just read about that phone before asking this question .... Do you really think it would have never been written? @volpe96 gave you a answer.

Thanks... The phones price tag is low end, the specs are midrange. When you look what devices Qualcomm Quickcharge 2.0 support, then the Redmi 3 Pro could also support it https://www.qualcomm.com/documents/quick-charge-device-list
Even the bigger brother the Redmi Note 3 supports it.
@MTK6589 If you don't want to answer then let it be. I'm no noob who buys a phone, crashes it and asks in different threads how to repair it. I read a lot about the Redmi 3 Pro, but that is the only thing that wasn't clear. You're very unfriendly in my opinion, don't know why!

I know the specs are midrange.. But the quality of the materials (probably) is not.. And i am talking about the USB connector, the battery, inner filaments, and so on.. Not every piece of metal is capable of tolerating a big current through it without being damaged

Could it upgrade to MiUi 9.0?
Maybe someone from the craftsmen will fix it. The problem is that the camera is normally triggered. Makes good panoramas. But HDR+ doesn't work. The video on the screen writes well, and the output with green stripes. If anyone understands this, let's see.

even I'd like to see it, but google made it for pixel devices running on s821 chipset.. other phones using 820/1 chipsets got it ported.. but since honor used kirin, it's incompatible and extremely hard to port my guess

My previous device was a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, which had a Snapdragon 650 processor, but a developer ported Google camera to that device, hdr+ worked almost flawlessly. Didn't use it but I also heard that the Redmi note 4 had a similar port done. So I don't think it's impossible to port it to devices that are not SD 820 and above. Maybe it's only a Qualcomm thing, that may well be the case.
P.S - Our device uses the monochrome censor to capture pretty good photos in low light, so I don't specifically think we need Gcam with HDR+
Hello, I have purchased Redmi Note 4 (sd 625) India via Flipkart. The same phone is also purchased by my friend via Flipkart.
But I notice variation between my and his camera and when I dig out the problem I come to the result that both phone has different camera modules.
I've a Sony imx258 back camera but he has a Samsung S5k3l8 back camera. So, I contacted some more Redmi Note 4 users and some of them have Samsung Sensor while some have sony.
So my question is while flashing any custom ROM will my camera work or not? As I think the camera blobs for both devices are different.
Note:- To view your camera sensor just go to Settings>About Phone>tap kernel version 5 times>version information.

Camera works fine for both sensors . However, the slow motion and other feature enabling tricks work only on Sony sensor.
You got lucky. Xiaomi changed the camera sensor from first Sony to Samsung and then to Omnivision. Sony is the best, Samsung is fine and Omnivision is the worst out of this three sensors.
You shouldn't get any difference if installing a custom ROM

You're right maybe I'm extra lucky cause I ordered it in the month of July and still I get Sony IMX
My friend broke his RN4 display and he's selling the phone and when I asked him, He is willing to exchange the camera sensor(He has the sony sensor whereas I've the samsung) Can I just pop out his camera sensor and plug it in into my device or things are different on the software level too?

Technically it should work because the drivers for the 3 different modules are already installed within the ROM.
What is the product number of you and your friend's device? It should be on the box (2016101 or 2016102). And would you be able to take a picture of your friend's Sony module? A lot of people on a different thread are trying to replace their Samusng/Omnivision modules with about 50% success because we don't know the exact numbers of module code of the IMX258
Thanks in advance!

Mine is 2016100 IDK his, I'll need to check. Well I'm on a Custom ROM so hope that can support it, I'll try, if it works or will revert back if that can be done
Thanks
I googled everywhere, but can't seems to to find anything on it. Is it possible at all or not due to SoC?
I would highly doubt it, mainly because the pixel has 1 back camera and the mate has 3
Could still happen, other phones have more than one camera and have had it ported over, OnePlus 6, LG g6 etc etc but the only Thing that might be an issue it them. Phones have had snapdragon processors as opposed to Huawei Kirin.

Porting Google Camera is much easier from Snapdragon SoC to Snapdragon SoC, yet there are still issues on OnePlus phones cause of the different sensors. I'm afraid it would take someone in the knowledge and motivated to properly port GCam for Kirin, and then you have the problem of the multiple lenses, something GCam doesn't support natively. First and foremost Huawei should just significantly cut back denoising and some of the sharpening, or just offer the option. Otherwise stock camera app is well rounded (minus GCam's awesome photosphere).
Night Signt is what I am more interested in from the new Google cam.

You are absolutely right. Some tweaks from Huawei and the stock camera App is brilliant. There is no need fpr GCam on Huawei especially since Huawei started with those dedicated night modes.
The problem does not seem to be the SOC as Mate 10 pro has a perfectly usable GCam port but the P20 pro doesn't. The problem is with the IMX 600 on the P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro as it enables pixel binding technology to capture HDR photos within the sensor itself rather than stacking different shots together. The pixel binding technology relays on the sensor to capture four pictures at once while other HDR technology only captures one photo at each shot. Oneplus uses the same technology on its secondary sensors so If there if any ports are working with the Oneplus's secondary sensor, then it might as well working on the Huawei devices. But If that's not the case, then it's not likely for us to get hands on any workable GCam shortly.
What a shame. imo the Mate 20 pro cam modules are really capable, but the software tends to screw up my images. I mean as mentioned, the sharpening, and the noise reduction is way over the top, and makes the images oilpaintings rather than actual pictures.

but you know, you can download this apk and its working perfectly
Also waiting for this
I tried many ports but nothing worked. Agree with Don.Chen's insight, I also found M20P compatible with some P20P's ports, but not the M10 ports. Miss GC's Portrait mode. Basically hardly any support for Kirin processors. Saw people mentioned Huawei's Camera API 2 is blocked, thus GC will not work for HDR+.
I hope some devs will turn and give it a try to mods gcam to work with our device

Is this from pixel 3?
At least it works . And it's real 40 MP photos with zoom.
I tried one of the gcam version but it didnt work correct, so I deleted it. But i have a feeling that after that my camera doesent work so good anymore, it doesent take so good pictures anymore. Do you think that something like that is possible, or it is just my feeling? I dont have any good pictures to compare between, so it is hard to prove.
No change in terms of quality here. I guess you could do a soft reset? Has anyone found a port for wide angle support? Thanks

Are you using a mate 20 pro? The reason I ask is because I see VOLTE.
helllo good people,
my question arises from Remi's branding of redmi note 9 pro in Pakistan.
it has same specs as Redmi Note 9 Pro Max like 64mp and all but instead it has 6 gb ram and 16mp front camera instead of 8gb and 32mp front.
someone guide me which forum does it belong to? i dont want to brick my device :silly:

i just rooted my redmi note 9 pro JOYEUSE today and flashed LRTWRP then flashed eu miui 11.......Yes the redmi note 9 pro in Pakistan is JOYEUSE.
Yes its joyuse...dont worry.

Of course it works fine, why do wouldn't it? Just be careful with the files you flash (recovery, rom etc.) and ensure that those are indeed meant for 'joyuse' and not 'curtana, gram or excalibur'.
I have curtana and I'm rooted on the latest eu.
No dust found under the camera array, although if you're worried I'd suggest getting the nilkin camera cover case.
As for Antutu, I think benchmarks are useless. The phone is plenty fast and smooth for my needs and that's what matters to me. Happy flashing ?
