can't find my perfect keyboard.. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I'm still looking for the best keyboard but seems can't find it in spite therr are plenty sroind for Android.
The best atm is gboard, but I'd prefer another kb for i have not any gapps and services installed in my phone, so would like also to get rid of gboard. Don't ask me why, i just prefer not having intrusing google apps installed.
What i need the most (and gboard has) are:
1. the cursol control in space bar
2. the numbers row
3. Gesture typing
4. Symbols when long pressing keys
I don't want a dedicated arrows row like in swiftkey, because that would just steal additional space on the screen, also I don't want a button to switch from letters to arrows and viceversa, because in this way i can't type and move the cursor at the same time I'dhave to switchback and forth many time!
so i prefer the gesture for the cursor control swiping left-right in some key, like in the space bar.
I tried many keyboards, and The only other KBs with such feature i found apart from gboard are chrooma kb and LG kb. The problem is that the former continuously FCs without gapps installed so is a no go for me, the latter is very nice but it seems i can't find a apk installable in all phones
Could anyone suggest me a kb having all the above-mentioned features or port the LG kb to be able to install it in all phones please?
I got the apk from a friend of mine who has a G5, but it won't install on my N phone. If i place it in /system/priv-app with all correct permissions and libs, it appears as installed but it FCs when i try to launch it ;(
Tia all bye

[Q] Get rid of language bar

I know one way of doing this is to use a different keyboard app but I haven't really found one that works as well as the stock one. Although if anyone can suggest a good one which has T9 keys (e.g. [abc] [efg] etc.) that fits well on the screen I'd like to know; I tried betterkeyboard but it took up too much of the screen I found and the keys were abit small.
Back to topic though, has anyone found a way to just get rid of the annoying language bar that pops up when using the hardware keyboard? I tried unticking the 'default input' option but that seems to screw up the virtual keyboard and eventually came back on anyway.
thanks for any help.
There is currently no 3rd party input method that has taken the Sym/áü button of the mini pro into consideration. I have taken this up and helped the author of Smart Keyboard with this problem, and he has said that it is on his to do list. http://www.dexilog.com/smartkeyboard/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=565 Hopefully it wont be to long before this is fixed. Otherwise I find the mentioned Smart Keyboard the one I am most comfortable with. Should give it a go
just install third party keyboard application and make it as default.
I suggest FlexT9.

Virtual keyboard not disappearing

Hello,
I bet that I'm not the only one who has that problem and I could bet that there is somewhere already a thread about it but all I can find (here and in generall over google) is the opposite case (keyboard disappearing when it shouldn't) or tips for developers to let a keyboard disappear when the user taps on an empty space, so I already appologize but I just can't find any solution.
I have this problem for a few years now, with Googles keyboard, Swiftkey and sometimes Swype. I have it now on my Galaxy Note 4 running stock TW, I had it on my G2 (at least in ParanoidAndroid and SlimROM but I think already in stock LG ROM) and I could even bet that I had it also on my Nexus 4, so that's why I'm asking in the general android forum for help.
Sometimes, I just can't close the keyboard when I don't need it anymore. Pressing back, home or recent apps or opening the notification shade (which should be in the foreground of all for all I know) the keyboard just stays where it is. It isn't frozen, I can still use it. But it really likes to hide buttons I would need e.g. to send the text I just wrote or the buttons in the power menu so I could only press "trun off" but not "reboot" to get rid of it. I even have my back key as "kill foreground app" when double tapping on it, but it kills everything but the keyboard. It takes time and constantly pressing the different navigation keys to finally close the keyboard.
I think you can imagine how annoying that is and I'm really sick of it. It happens randomly so it's not really possible to record any log, it might be possible that XPosed could be the reason for that but I think I already had that problem already befor I installed it the first time but I'm not sure.
Does annyone has that problem too and knows how to handle it?

Buttons disappear from navigation bar

I get this randomly. It seems to happen the most when I have SwiftKey open and it always happens when I search within the app drawer. I switched launchers (tried lawn chair and rootless pixel) and I see the same thing.
The buttons are there, I can click them but they just vanish and it looks horrible.
Pic attached.
I guess I should also say that enabling full screen gestures works around this but that has its own set of problems for me, namely that I keep missing the space bar when using the keyboard and that the back gesture doesn't scale up from the keyboard so I keep going back when swiping.
Edit: I've confirmed that the problem is Swiftkey. The default Google keyboard doesn't have this problem but it isn't nearly as good. It'll do for now I guess...
I have the same issue. I tried installing navbar apps, but it doesn't work. Is there any way to set gboard to add a space automatically after a period or a comma? One of the many tine differences I prefer SwiftKey over Gboard, but this navbar bug is making me make the switch.

BT keyboard, disabling annoying shift + space shortcut?

I've been googling and cruising a number of forums, surely there must be a logical way to get rid of this annoying thing. I am unrooted, locked BL. I have a BT keyboard. Swiftkey installed as system app by default, and I have gboard installed, too. I have an annoying keyboard shortcut of space + shift that brings up the Select input method screen. Seems it's an annoying problem, but without root no easy way to fix?
I disabled swiftkey, and I see the keyboard shortcut helper lists the shift + space shortcut, but there's no way to disable or change it to something else.
Has anyone else with a BT keyboard encountered and solved this? Maybe it's my ebay keyboard and some brief lag that interprets capital letters as my sending the space + shift shortcut. It's nearly impossible to take notes with this thing because the input menu pops up every 10 seconds or so. I'll be travelling to the mainland later this week and would love to find a way to fix this because I want to use the tablet and keyboard to take notes at a conference.
Thank you very much for any help you may have. I thought every answer was on google, but this one is not popping up....

Remapping Gestures/Buttons to Keyboard Macros that include control/ctrl key (for PWAs) without changing keyboard?

I'm trying to use a PWA that makes heavy use of a small number of keyboard hotkeys/shortcuts. This is on a rooted (Magisk) Google Pixel 4a running Android 11.
I know there are a bunch of alternative keyboards that do this, but in my experiance none of them are up to par with the more mainstream alternatives. Also, in many cases I'd want to use these shortcuts when the keyboard is not up on screen.
Are there any apps or modules that allow the user to define certain gestures, e.g. double or triple multi-touch, stuff like that, as being a complete shortcut like ctrl-shift-o? I'm finding lots of them that allow many things, but none with this specific functionality so far.
Or, failing that, allow a hardware button (preferably double-clicked, like the built-in optional camera shortcut) or a transperant movable softkey to do the same?
Idealy all of these would be configurable on a per-app basis; I'd only want it to be on for a few apps, and behavior in those apps shouldn't all be the same.
Also would be cool if something existed that could remap the useless smiley key on a mainstream keyboard to the ctrl key, for use in terminal apps.
