Hello guys, I hope for you expert opinion here. Yesterday I picked up my beloved Note 4 Global version and saw lines all of the screen, and it flickers all the time. It is definitely a hardware issue because the lines can be seen on the boot and in the TWRP. Also if I apply a bit of pressure on the phone on different sides, sometimes you can see the lines changing, ones they diapered for 5 minutes completely. I have dropped it a day before, from my trousers pocket, but it was fine for a while after that...
I bought this phone from www.gearbest.com and I live in Germany. After reading all the reviews about the warranty procedure I decided that I don't want to send it back to gearbest, because in the best case scenario I will get the phone in half a year, in the worst I won't get it at all.
My question is, do you think the fault is in the motherboard or LCD screen itself? I could buy a new LCD for 25 euros and replace it myself.

from the teardown video, the screen removal is not that hard but not sure if you can get the screen for 25 euros tbh. Best of luck~

I know it's not hard, I've done it to other phones as well. The question is if it's the screen, or the motherboard.
Found a screen here, as far as I know, the 4X screen is compatible with Global version.

That is correct, I don't want to buy a new LCD to find out that some controller somewhere on the motherboard is dead.
Actually buying the phone was very easy. Having any kind of service is much harder. And you can't buy this phone in Germany. They don't sell them here.

Yeah, replacing the LCD did the trick, except I got my new screen cracked and have to replace it again :cyclops:

I just recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S2 from eBay, the seller stated that the LCD screen was "very dark" and not quite working right. When I received the phone it was far more then "very dark", half of the screen looks as if the LCD is leaking out or has been broken? The digitizer is mint and works and the phone its self is in AMAZING shape. NO scratches or chips or anything. It honestly looks brand new. I even tested the battery for usage and its showing up that this battery IS indeed brand new. Like I said it is mint so there is no possible way this phone was dropped. My first guess was a ROM issue, but I just noticed you can see the screen defect without the phone even being turned on. So what I am thinking is water damage. I read all over online about people having problems with there screens going black, this might also be the case. If it is water damage, does anyone know EXACT locations of indicators on the phone? I looked in the battery compartment and found nothing what so ever. I want to sell this thing today, (just received it in the mail) I need the cash so I was hoping someone would be able to point me in the right direction?? I uploaded photos below, the second one is with the phone turned off, the reflection is from my computer. For reference, it is the Samsung Galaxy SII 19100, with Bell Canada. Thanks in advanced!
I'm no expert but does not look like something you can fix yourself I'm afraid.
Send it back I say.

send it back to whoever sold it
you kinda got scammed there, imho
See Im trying to figure out if the LCD was broken by physical damage or if this has happened before to people, because if its a manufacturing issue I can just send it back to Samsung and they will fix it no problem as long as this was caused on their part. If it WAS broken by the ebay seller, I might be better off buying a new lcd and installing it myself. I only paid $200CAD so it would be worth keeping if all thats wrong is the LCD. But like I said I would rather Samsung do it, lol its free.

Scratch that, the LCD is almost $200. Not worth buying and fixing. But does anyone know if this could be classified as a manufacturing issue? I can just send it in if it is?
anybody at all?? I just want to confirm that this could be a manufacturing issue, theres no water damage and the screen is not cracked from a drop any ideas would be awesome. I might just try to send it in to Samsung just to see what happens.
I dropped my galaxy S2 and the screen flickered and went black and started vibrating. I've bought a new lcd replacement, but after some thought I'm wondering if thats the problem. What do you guys think?
Without looking at it/being there with you, how would we know ? If you're not confident replacing it yourself, pay a local mobile repair shop to do it. Obviously given you've already bought the LCD, you'll only have to pay for labour.
What I think is to temporary attach the new screen and have a look.
A guy shows you what to do in the 29 minute video on you tube.

Thanks. Yeah, that's what I'm going to do. I've fixed lots of phone before, replacing screens so its not a problem. I was just wondering dose it sound like the screens dead when it vibrate's constant when trying to turn it on, or could it be the board. I'm just thinking all this after ordering the screen lol
Hello
A few days ago i dropped my Galaxy S3 while pulling it out of my pocket and the LCD is cracked. I dropped my S3 a few times but this time it fell on the edge and it landed like a "brick". The whole phone functions properly except the Screen won't turn on. The Touchscreen and home button works fine but the Menu & Back button don't work. I took it to the repair shop and they said that it costs ~ £180 to repair it.
Are there any suggestions on what i should do? Any cheap good screen replacement on eBay?
And is there an app that allows me to control my S3 from my PC via USB preferably but WiFi will do also.
Thanks for reading

The issue is, the front housing, glass, digitiser and screen come as a "sealed unit". So yes it is expensive. You can pick them up a bit cheaper on eBay but then it needs fitting.
If you're searching eBay, we have AMOLED screen, not LCD

The problem is with these apps, they need setting up first and you need to be able to see to do it. k If you have a HDMI input somewhere, you can use an MHL cable to see it on a tv, but thats all I can think of really.
Problem with screen replace is not many do a proper job see multiple posts on XDA .

S3 screen
First thing is to go to service centre and ask to see service manager, usually its at the discretion of the manager to give a discount. I was lucky, went to get my Note 1 complete LCD & digitizer (broken) replaced for US$120 2 month ago. Yesterday I cracked my S3 screen n i went back to sc again got it replaced in 1 hr for $106 and i also change the headphone jack port ($11). Now i ve 2 brand new looking phone as they replace the fuull screen with frame. Thanks Samsung. So it pays to visit the sc 1st and speak with them rather than post yr problem. Cheers.

In the UK the Sammie service centres have to send the 'faulty' AMOLED/LCD screen back to Samsung, if it's cracked (as is likely in your case) the service centre do not get reimbursed for parts cost in the repair and as the complete house costs over £140 (and have to be bought in lots of 10 units) you can see there's no money in it for them to discount.
As rootsu stated above it's all one housing, replacing glass can be done but not the actual screen element.
I would suggest try to find someone with a working screen setup perhaps on ripbay or gumtree and drop in your motherboard to their working screen, anything under £150 and you're saving some money. Else try to sell yours but beware of buyers who'll try to make a claim on ebay after they received stating 'not as described' to get you to give a part refund for the sale (i.e. you auction it for £120 they then try to get £60 or £70 back) it's a common scam for phones.
Good Luck
I was able to get the whole screen and front bezel etc for £125 from Amazon and did it myself fairly easily with no previous experience. Just follow the YouTube guides slowly and carefully and it'll be fine. The UK seller of the screen got it to me within a day or two so I didn't have to use my old Desire HD for very long.

Before i cracked my screen (accidentally) i installed a program called Wondershare MobileGo for Android which allows me to see real-time screenshots of my phone but not control it. So with a bit of struggle maybe i can set up an App :|

I was actually thinking of replacing it myself but i don't know if Amazon delivers to my country.
I literally just watched my phones screen shatter itself right in front of me. It was sitting on my desk next to my keyboard and I heard a cracking noise, so i looked over and the screen was super cracked. I went to pick it up, and when I did, the screen cracked even more and is a mess now. I've dropped my fair share of phones and iPods, and know what cracks like that look like (spiderwebbing out from a point), but this one looks nothing like that. The whole screen is messed up.
My questions are these:
1. Would Verizon provide me with a replacement phone because I didn't drop it (I doubt it)?
2. How hard would it be for me to replace my own screen/find parts to do so?
Thanks
P.S. I am trying to get my old DX2 to turn on so I can upload pictures of what it looks like.

It's been mentioned lots of times before. Look around you may even find a video or two on changing the screen.
With physical damage don't count on VZ replacing it in store.

I have watched the videos and such, but I am still super confused about what I need. The screen still works perfectly, all i want is a new glass front. Can I order one of the glass lens/digitizer combos and use that? Those are about 20 bucks, but if I get one with the LCD screen included (again, my screen works fine) it goes up to about 80, at which point I would just go with VZW and get it replaced for 99. I am really confident that I just need the lens/digitzer thing, but I have read things about the screen and digitizer being fused together and that is what confuses me.

NO!... The digitizer is bonded to the LCD and I've not seen one person successfully change just it. There's no reason it should even be sold.
The combo is the way to go and I'd go one step further and get the frame and adhesive for about an extra $25 just to not have to deal with separating it. That's the hardest part int eh videos.
Wait... Verizon charges $100? Is that through Assurion?

Good evening!
My S3 has just fallen down. Now only physical buttons, back and menu are working. Screen has no physical damage but the digitalizer is not getting ANY of my touch. This makes me thing that it can be the internal connections. If it was broken I believe some screen zones would be still recognised. Then, I believe (and hope) digitalizer is in a well state. What are your thoughts about this?
Apart from this, how can I open the phone to check the connection. I've seen videos in which they replace the screen but I don't know if I can follow this procedure since, if it is still working, I don't know if I could re-glue it again.
Please, what can I do?
Thanks!

It is very possibly your digitizer can be broken but not show any physical damage. If it happened right after a fall then this is a real possibility.
Do not try to pull the screen sections apart you will damage it. Get a new whole screen assembly
Thank you very much for the answer!. Could you please send me a reference of the whole screen assembly I need? You mean digitalizer plus lcd? just digitalizer? Could you provide me a good but cheap one?.

You will need the glass, lcd and digitizer. The term "whole screen assembly" should be enough.
Thanks for the info. I've seen prices of this replacement set and it's about 100$ (80€). I don't think I should pay so much for a 2-year phone. I am thinking about taking a Xiaomi redmi note 4g for 169€.

Yer it is pricey, atleast in my country almost just as expensive to by a new s3 rather than get a new screen when you way up the aspects of a new phone plus the warranty
