I've been doing some research and I've been looking into new spen stylus pens for my note 3 because it would be nice to have something new.
Does other Spen stylus fit into the note 3 slot (and work on the Note 3)?
•Note 4
•Note 5
•Note 7/FE
•Note 8 ( For the people that will get this phone in the future.)
I'll most likely get the latest Spen with 3 or more people in agreement
I also would like to know all of the dimensions for all of the Styluses above ↑ if possible
And thank you for helping me out • × •
I have a note 3 [n900] by the way (but it's ok for other versions because I think they are the same and I would like know too)
I tried note 4 S-pen on my note 3 in the shop when note 4 was released. It didn't work. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think other Notes don't work with newer versions. They might work with older but I didn't try if it's true.
Note 4 s-pen works perfect on N9005. It doesn't fit well in the N3 holder but after a few weeks it seems to fit just fine.
Note 5 pen was working better then N3 but worse then N4, so for me the N4 pen is the pen of choise

I'm slightly curious. Does the note 4 Spen stick out slightly or you can sometimes notice it because you can feel a tiny bump. Does the note 5 Spen stick out? Or does the note 5 Spen falls out because it is to slim? Finally are you using a custom room or stock?
Thanks in advance ° w °
I'm using the sview cover which is slightly bigger then the device, so the N4 pen does not stick out.
Never tried to fit the N5 pen just because the N4 pen works better (on N3 device of course).
I'm using phronesis N7 custom rom and there are no issues with the spen.
i have all three, a Note 3, 4 and 5 ... the 4's pen fits but it's hard to get it out, which makes it useless, the 5's spen is the best because the point isn't pushable or something, somehow, i managed to stop the nib being pushed inside the 3's spen and it's works better than the 5s in my opinion

I Meant the other S Pens Work fine but they won't fit into the s pen slot of note 3
Note 3 S-Pen fits only into Note 3 body. The only change you can make is to change the rubber tip of the pen to the Note7/FE/8 type.

I tried my friends note 10.1 tablet today and was surprised to find how much better it felt to use that s pen. The tip didnt seem to slide as smoothly or fast, seemed like there was more friction almost like rubber which caused my writing to look much neater. Is that just a difference between the two pens?
Yes. It takes to my Note II as smooth as a babys ass too.

Yeah, and there are different nibs that you can switch out on those too. Only drawback is those pens of course won't fit inside the slot in the phone. LucidMike on YouTube talked about this in one of his videos, check it out he's got a lot of good info.

Thanks very much guys. Its a shame samsung didnt make the nibs the same because the one in the note 10.1 is incredible.
I cant wait till samsung throws a 2560x160p display in a note tablet so I can sell my nexus 10. Stock android is overrated when it has so many problems and bugs haha.
Is it just me or does anybody else not like the 10.1's tip? I feel like it doesn't drag on the screen as good as the Note 2's

Oh its definitely less smooth than the note 2 but thats why I like it more. Its more rubbery and the resistance makes my writing and drawing more accurate

I never thought iSmooth is that strong after 4 months of use and now I still have 5 in the inventory, so I am getting curious that can anybody use screen protector for Note 2 with Note 3.
If so, this will be definitely good.
No

are you serious they are not even the same size, the dimensions are different you better off not using a screen protector. the button placement is wrong also
Let's just limit it down to only the front. Since the dimensions of Note 2 and Note 3 (same length, 1mm difference of width between these two according to phonescoop) are pretty close, I have been wondering that.
If a user have both Note 2 and Note 3, please take a picture to verify that instead of just saying yes or no. This can help others who have the same question.
That is like saying if I can put diesel in my car. Of course not.
I would think that you could use it until you got a proper N3 screen protector, but it would not fit right

That's the breaker - I'm not interested in buying another dock
I thought I saw somewhere that the note 2 smart dock would be compatible with the note 3. I also have the note 2 smart dock as well and hoping it will work. If you look at the official samsung accessory for note 3 thread, there is a pic of the smart dock.
EDIT: Oops, looks like its the regular desktop dock and not the smart dock.
It. works

Hi guys,
I have the smart dock and can confirm it works with the note 3
My mini review of it on the Note 3:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46275928&postcount=16
I have the smart dock and it is working on my note 3. But I am having issues with my reciever (I am loosing audio) yet I have audio just fine through my TVs HDMI.
Since I havent tested the smart dock with any other phones I cant confirm if it is a note 3 issue or not. But I doubt it.
I think the dock just runs on the MHL 1.0 standard
I tried the black slide in dock today, the USB connector is in the wrong spot. So no good there.

works
I did it last night watching two different movies.
IT doesnt sit straight in the middle though since the usb 2.0 input is slightly off to the side
I use the universal doc and that works

Confirmed last night that the Smart Dock for my Note 2 also works for the Note 3 in 1080p even. Works well so far browsing the web, playing games, running benchmarks, YouTube, XBMC, etc. The only thing I noticed is the frame rate seems to be limited to 30fps vs 60fps without. Now, just need to find a similar thin translucent grey case to the one on my Note 2 that doesn't get in the way of the Smart Dock. Perhaps this:

The Note 2 Smart Dock works with the new Note 3
Hi Everyone,
I tested the new Note 3 with the Note 2 smart dock and thankfully it worked. You can see details of this on youtube:

The only problem is that in landscape mode, the applications listed towards the bottom of the phone display does get cut-off. This is kind of annoying. I was wondering if there is any kind of fix for this?
Cheers.

The only problem i am having is that it doesn't fit when i have any of my cases on. i use my smart dock as a clock at night and having to take the case off every night is a pain with m spigen hybrid. the teck 21 case is easy to take off.
I'm looking to get one of these majestic beasts for its USB 3.0 port to test with PC VR with the increased transfer rates. How does its variant of the snapdragon 800 hold up in the modern day and age? Would you say it's comparable to a snapdragon 615//415/808? Also with camera quality. It doesn't have to be much better than "pretty good"
After having the Note 7 for almost 2 months, I don't miss it one bit. I had to give it up of course so I just went back to my Note 3. With root I am completely satisfied and was never that impressed with the 7 other than the camera. The speeds honestly weren't that much different IMO.
I rolled back to the note 3. This phone was the last Note for Sprint that could use data and cellular service at the same time.
Holding Up Great!
Running CM 14, Pixel XL Rom
with Assistant working.
On T-Mobile. Giving my S6 away as a Xmas present.
It's a pain in the ass to have the lte radio stick on note 7 6.0.1 mm ports, but if you're lucky that it does, it's great.
Unfortunately, the usb 3.0 support varies on the rom. The note 7 ports do NOT have 3.0 support. The rest, I'm not sure. Samsung had the pleasure to leave the note 3 with lp 5.0..
I don't use the camera often, but I tested it at a concert last month to record video and impressed my apple-fanboy brother with the quality.

I learned that one the hard way after falling for the old upgrade deal with the note 5 while on a sales call following my gps and it stopped updating and I missed my exit. Note 3 is the last good note with all the features that a power user could want besides another gig or so of RAM I suppose. External charger and spare batteries are still faster than any quick charging too. Ended up giving the note 5 upgrade to mom after a week or two. It was nice to have my IR blaster universal remote, sd card and usb 3.0 back. I can't stand the direction samsung went after the note 3. Unknowingly giving up simutaneous voice and data on Sprint was the biggest deal breaker of all. A sealed glass back is just dumb and more breakable...plastic construction was always better with weight and durability. Could care less if the fake chrome bling gets scratched or plastic marred as long as it holds up like it has all these years.
I have to say I love my note 3. I've dropped it I don't know how many times. Sometimes while standing, I'll go to put it in my pocket and it'll slip and hit the concrete. Screen fine, chrome siding dinged. I have a s7 edge that was in a case, fell from half the height my note 3 did, hit my rubber shoe. Screen cracked, rear glass plate cracked. Thought these had a higher version of gorilla glass. Obviously they don't or gorilla glass isn't what it used to be.
I've had my note 3 since release almost. I'm looking at getting it replaced under Sprint claim. Wonder if they still have note 3's because I don't want anything newer.
I can't believe Samsung hasn't gone back to this device and build up from it. All note devices after the 3 have sucked in one way or the other. Good going Samsung, instead of moving forward, you're moving backwards.
The Note 3 is still great in 2017. It's not my daily driver but my mom's. Still excellent battery, fast & smooth, and the battery can be replaced later.

im on the note 5 right now and pretty pissed that for exactly 1 year there has been only 1 rom called moar. There are 1 or 2 more, but no where as good as moar and im pissed for the lack of development. Fast charge is great, wish note 3 would have same feature, but the unaccesable battery in the note 5 had the glass screen ripped and crushed to replace battery. Been only a year but i tested the battery and it dropped to 2300 mah out of 3000 and took longer to fast charge and discharged faster than normal. And i didnt want the note 5 either but i got it for a dollar from samsclub black friday deal. I wasnt happy at all when the note 5 came out due to simple fact it was designed and had the exact same hardware as s6. same camera, same chips, same resoulution etc. Im using the note 3 as an pad now, and it was very sad there was a note 3 marshmellow rom before moar updated to marshmellow. And same problem right now, moar fell behined 6 to 8 firmware updates, the last update took 4 months before it was every 2 weeks. I downloaded the dark horse rom and boy am i rejocying, its a lot like my note 5.
How is it?? Discuss here! I don't even have the phone but I want to hear what you lucky people are thinking and feeling about it upon receiving it!! ?
It's nice. It's kinda like the Note 7 what with it being tall and slim and all. I still wish it didn't have this edge display and I still wish it had the fingerprint reader on the front (heck put it front and back so it suits everyone). I would not have purchased it if it didn't have iris unlock and voice unlock. It's fast of course. So far so good. It's a nice phone.
I upgraded from the s8+ (I know, I'm an idiot). My first impression is just how similar the two phones are. It really is an s8 with an s-pen, which is enough for me.

At least you can disable the edge feature on the Note 8! I hated it on the note 7 and was pleased to see we can get rid of it now. It was the first thing I noticed in settings.
I just received my Note 8's (4 of them) today Tuesday September 5th. I'm pleased with the feel and overall quality of the phone. After lightly using the phone off and on since I received it today I'm finding that everything runs very smooth. I don't really like the fingerprint sensor placement but it works really well especially compared to my Note 4 that I've been using for 3 years. I also have noticed that the sound can be adjusted to have a very nice quality to it. I am noticing that the battery life seems to be very good but I am just getting familiar with the phone so I have much more to discover.

Yes and no, the main camera is the same, it just has a second telephoto camera.
I'm curious if anyone has tried the N8 with the Gear VR. I constantly have overheating problems with both the S7 Edge and the Note 5 when watching movies while flying. With the faster processor I am hoping that the N8 runs a little cooler.

For those that think the camera in the note8 is the same as the S8, it might be the same Hardware, but the software is very much upgraded. If you search YouTube for video comparison between the note8 and the S8 you will

Glad to hear it's in there.
Can't do it with screen off though, correct? That's a Google phone exclusive I assume?
I like the feel of the Note 8 a lot more than the S8+. The fingerprint sensor is better placed (for me at least, i have long fingers and the spacing helps) and the phone being less rounded makes it easier to hold. Surprised how much bigger the screen looks than the plus and the camera software is a little bit better than on the s8+. Solid comeback for the Note line. I think the Note 9 is where they are going to try and really differentiate the S series and Note again. They could have made the Note 8 screen even bigger if they wanted, but played it safe this time to get us back. Best phone out in my opinion.
My Note came today. I've had about 6 hours to use it. It feels a good bit faster than the Pixel XL and I like the longer screen. It's not as wide as I thought and it fits nicely in one hand. I have large hands so some may find it a bit large to hold with one hand. I've only played with the Camera for a few minutes but I'll do some comparisons to the Pixel XL camera.
