Hello all,
on Sunday I flashed LineageOS on my RN4.
Been using it till yesterday but I wanted to switch back to MIUI.
So I downloaded a Global developer recovery rom and wanted to flash it via TWRP.
I rebooted to recovery and immediately there was a prompt to type the password to decrypt the phone. Why is that?
Luckily, the password was my lockscreen PIN so I made it to get in recovery, but, why is that so and how to get rid of it?
And after that, I mean after I flashed MIUI, I rebooted to System and before my phone even booted, I had the same prompt window to type a password to decrypt the phone.
Any help here? I searched already and people said that I have to format my phone (including Data) and after that hopefully the prompt window won't be there anymore.
But I dont wanna format the whole phone, if there is any other solution.
thanks!

There's no solution unless you do a format via either twrp or using fastboot command.

Format via TWRP means format everything? I mean, Advanced Wipe -> and here check everything and format or?
You mean format everything via fastboot? If so, do I keep TWRP installed? And if so, which command is that?
Thanks!

Nah, if you've TWRP installed then no need for fastboot.
Steps to decrypt :-
*Boot to TWRP
*choose wipe
*Tap format data [you'll find this in the bottom right]
*type 'yes' to continue
*???!?
*Decrypted!
I repeat do not choose advanced wipe or whatever, choose FORMAT!

Don't panic sir, everyone in here who've had Decrypted their device had lost their files too. You should've made a backup before performing the action.

No problem
By the way, when you add pattern or password or any kinda screen locks, choose "No thanks" When its prompts to enter pin/password everytime you boot.
That's it.

No need to fastboot again, if you format data, you'll only lose your data not the TWRP.

I have doubt, Will Unlocking Bootloader wipe Data?? Because Till RN4 it don't used to Wipe. And to Decrypt, needed Formatting Data using TWRP. But RN4 isn't Encrypted by default, So Anyone witb experience Shed some info.

I am not sure if I understand your question but...
I unlocked bootloader and the data was NOT erased.
My phone was not encrypted.
I hope it helps.
Is your device RN4(Mido)?? And U Unlocked after 7.0 or on 6.0.1?
Unlocking bootloader won't erase your data, unless your data partition is encrypted (iirc).

Maybe you just did not received this text, but you don't need it.
Just download the tool, login and try to unlock. Most likely it will work.

You'll have to wait for atleast 10 days, then it'll automatically work.
Hi guys hope you are safe.......
So i have been trying to flash a custom recovery to my mido.Since MIUI replaces the custom one with stock recovery after booting we have to boot to recovery from fastboot(right?).But the sad thing is my power button is not working. So is there any other way to boot to recovery from fastboot other than fastboot boot recovery.img.
I've learnt that fastboot boot doesnt work for new MIUI(tried it).So..Have i got any hope or will i have to wait until the lockdown is over to get my power button fixed.
Thanks

Hello Sir,
I am using Redmi Note 4 (nikel) MiUi 10.2, Android ver 6.0, Bootloader unlocked and install twrp. Yesterday, I am trying to upgrade from recovery method. In this case, before install firmware I was backup Boot, System, and Data. After backup I was wipe Dalvik/ART cache, System, Data, Cache, Cust. Than I was installed firmware and successfully upgrade. Than rebooted deviec. But my device looped in boot.
Because I was wiped cust partition without backup. If any one using same device redmi note 4 nikel and installed twrp please backup this cust patition and upload to restore. I cant flash from fastboot because I can't use PC. So this is only way to recovery. Can anyone help me please.
I tried flashing twrp vince in note 5 but it asks password i tried my phone pin password but still it didn't work even i tried formata data but still it ask for password again and again to decrypt and it also shows internal memory zero
I also tried redwolf recovery but it also have same issues i.e unable to mount
internal memory zero
I don't know whats wrong
Is it due to miui 10 developer rom or something else
Please anyone could help me with this problem

This is not what OP asked for. It's not even TWRP. Why do you keep linking this thread as an answer to unrelated questions?

Because orangefox recovery works well with encrypted data partition. Twrp can't handle encrypted data partition.

Twrp encrypts data every time when u boot into recovery , for this use Orange Recovery ( above guy DarthJabba9 is correct)

I know what orangefox recovery is, no need to act condescending. I see you in every other thread plugging your own thing without a word of explanation and I don't think it's helpful. Regardless, we're getting off-topic here...

That's a new one! I can assure you that installing OrangeFox cannot possibly "destroy" anything. In fact, I do not see how installing any recovery (if you have installed the correct recovery for your device) can destroy anything.
What exactly did you do, and what exactly was the outcome? By the way, you might want to take this discussion to the OrangeFox forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/re.../official-orangefox-recovery-project-t3807479

The last eu ROMs for umi are very buggy. You could try to install 12.0.8. that one is working quite good. Or maybe better to wait for a reliable Rom.
