HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Only if the devs decide that the LG G3 is worthy. Let me explain. I just got off the phone with LG and they said they don't support any software (Android) for their phones. They said to call my carrier to find out if there are updates. I asked them about newer versions of Android and they said I would need to talk to the carrier. So I am going to call the carrier and I almost bet that they will say I need to talk to LG. I am calling Sprint now to find out if that is true.

The G3 will get 5.0 don't be ridiculous. Full source for 5.0 isn't even out yet and you're already calling LG and Sprint.
How a member since 2010 could not know this blows my mind.
You're doing nothing but wasting your own time.

First of all I did not call them to find out when they were going to upgrade to 5.0, I am not an idiot. The reason I called is because, since I have owned this device I have not received one update for this phone. I also red in an article that the LG G3 was supposed to get a 4.4.4 update by the end of September.
http://www.androidsas.com/2014/09/lg-g3-to-get-android-444-kitkat-update.html
So while I was on the phone with LG customer service they proceeded to pass the buck to Sprint and Google as if they are not the ones who deal with their own Android updates.
A provider or MFG will not randomly give out information regarding updates. Don't be naive.
Samsung's L version is already in the works and been leaked. LG is obviously developing it's version. I would imagine it will be released by the end of the year. Sprint is usually pretty good at pushing updates to the current year's flagships.
Never knowing LGS update track record

Stumped and bumped, screw sprint and LG!

All of that aside, the idea that any front-line support staff from any company is going to have that kind of detailed information from the developers and engineering is just ludicrous. Frontline techs know exactly what is written in their scripts on the computer and nothing more. Why would you even waste time asking them that?

Just a heads up. The customer service rep from LG was just blowing smoke up your ass either because they didn't know or you came across like an ass and they wanted you off the phone.
The way it works is as follows:
Google makes the OS and sends it to the manufactures (LG, Samsung, HTC) where they tweak it for their devices and put in any overlays (Touchwiz, Blur, Sense) before sending it to the carrier. The carrier then tests said OS\devices on their netywork while adding their own bloatware.
IF everything tests with in their liking they will release to the public IF NOT then it goes back to the manufacturer for more tweaking. Wash rinse repeat until you get it.
You can call Sprint and LG support all you like and will likely get different answers depending on who you talk to BUT regardless of who you speak with none of them have a clue at the call center of what is happening when.
Their job is to read a script and do a profile update or whatever is all and then pass it along if they can't get you off the line.
Welcome to smart phones and carriers 101.
The only reason I want LG and Sprint to have an l version someday is we will have a decent build for the devs to take apart. I'm sure there gonna take there time.
This will be on Sprint. And Sprint is VERY slow to roll out any updates. Don't expect it any time soon, unless they feel like they should keep up on their flagship device.

The arrival of a new Android OS version leaves us all asking one big question – will my device receive the update?
To help narrow down your search we have put together a master list of all the devices which will be receiving Android Lollipop at some point in the future. We’ll be updating the list regularly, so if you find a source that confirms another handset will be lucky enough to receive Lollipop, please do let us know.
Without further delay:
HTC
HTC has been pretty open about its update policy and announced that it would be bringing Android Lollipop to its HTC One range within 90 days of the OS’ launch. A leaked roadmap also suggests that Lollipop will be heading to a number of other handsets.
One (M8) – confirmed by HTC
One (M7) – confirmed by HTC
One Mini 2
One Mini – confirmed by HTC
One E8
One Max
Butterfly S
Desire 816
Desire 610
LG
LG has remained tight lipped about its update plans, although numerous sources suggests that its G3 and G2 flagships are in-line for an update at some point. Other devices remain unknown for now.
G3 – rumored but unconfirmed
G2 – rumored but unconfirmed
Motorola
Following the announcement of the Nexus 6, Motorola confirmed that its recent range of handsets would all recieve an update to Lollipop. The following have all been confirmed directly by Motorola.
Moto X (1st Gen. & 2nd Gen.)
Moto G (1st Gen. & 2nd Gen.)
Moto G with 4G LTE
Moto E
Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, and Droid Mini
Nexus
After releasing details on its new Nexus devices, Google confirmed that handsets and tablets going back to the Nexus 4 would be receiving Lollipop. The latest reports suggest that an OTA update is scheduled for November 3rd 2014.
The Nexus 4, 5, 7 (WiFi & LTE), and Nexus 10 have all been confirmed by Google and the Nexus 6 and 9 will ship with the latest OS. Google mentioned that GPE handsets would also be among the first to receive an update.
OnePlus
With just one handset to maintain, the OnePlus One will see Lollipop within 3 months of the OS’ release.
OnePlus One – confirmed by OnePlus
Samsung
Just like LG, Samsung hasn’t given out any official information regarding handset updates. The only hint we’ve seen of Android 5.0 on a Samsung device comes from a leaked preview build running on the Galaxy S5.
Galaxy S5 – leaked preview
Sony
Sony has announced that it will be bringing Android 5.0 to all Xperia Z devices, not just its flagships. All of the following have been confirmed by Sony, although a timeframe has not been listed.
Xperia Z3
Xperia Z3 Compact
Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact
Xperia Z3v
Xperia Z2
Xperia Z1
Xperia Z1 Compact
Xperia Z
Xperia Tablet Z
Xperia Z Ultra
Xperia ZL
Xperia ZR
Android One
The Karbonn Sparkle V, Micromax Canvas A1, and Spice Dream Uno will receive Android Lollipop “soon” after the full launch of the new version.
Karbonn Sparkle V – guaranteed by Google
Micromax Canvas A1 – guaranteed by Google
Spice Dream Uno – guaranteed by Google
We’ll be updating the list with the latest news when we hear it, so stick this page in your bookmarks. If you have any questions or want to send us a tip about Lollipop updates, head on over to our forums and drop us a line.
I wish LG would take a hint from HTC and Sony when it comes to developer support. HTC learned from their mistakes and Sony has really impressed me(too bad xperia isnt on Sprint).
In any case, LG has gotten better with their updates but Sprint is still slow imo. And when I say better I mean the rumor mill was rampant back on my Lg Optimus G. 4.1.2 was the last update that phone had even though rumors of 4.4 were everywhere for months.
The only reason I want an official 5.0 is for a reason that was already stated(and the same reason I wanted one on the lgog) - a solid base for the devs to work their magic with.
But being on xda does make it a bit of a moot point, the devs will cook something up much sooner then LG/Sprint. Really I just feel bad for those poor fools who have never used xda - they're stuck with whatever they got and have no idea of all the awesome things goin on - or even the true power of the G3.

Sprint has usually been the first ones to release updates compared to the other 3 carries.
And this is why Android gets such a bad rap, if the carriers would take their blinders off and just let the manufacturers update their phones, things wouldnt be so bad. Instead we have to wait for 40 things to happen before our phones get updated to the latest version. Google letting android go to anyone is really what the problem was, licensing out the OS and then letting everyone do what they want with it has really slowed down updates to a crawl. Its honestly getting really stupid and I hope (not that I'm an apple fan by any stretch) that Google eventually just goes the way Apple did and make their OS required to be vanilla on any device that uses it, no more Touchwiz or Blinkfeed or anything else. All those things do is require everyone to get Googles update, tinker with things a bunch until that update now works with their crap overlays and apps and THEN have to worry about the carrier "allowing" the update after all of that is done, its really ridiculous and in this sense, Apple did things right. Google needs to get this under control, when only 25% of your user base is actually on KitKat, its no wonder Apple does so well with the devices and their OS.
So now I get to sit and wait months and months for a proper 5.0 update. Its great that XDA can probably get some things going before that ever hits, but nothing is better than a good ROM designed after the official update

The problem with your post is this.
If Google kept android to themselves then they would be JUST like APPLE. If HTC, Samsung, LG, Motorola or any other android device ran the same vanilla style then every phone would basically be the same. That's why Samsung, HTC, LG, and every other implement things like Touch wiz, Blur or what have you. That way they are not the same and it gives every person a choice unlike Crapple
The bloatware we could all live without
Hello guys. I have a bit under a year old Nexus 5X which broke down(bootloop). So I have to chances , I take a new Nexus 5X from Amazon or I pay about 15€ extra and get Moto Z. Specs wise it is way better, only thing holding me back are updates. I had Moto G2 and it wasn't the best back then, are they now better, worse? What would you do.
Don't know exactly what you mean, but you can follow the Kernel and ROM development here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z/development
If you're talking about Stock ROM Updates, well, you'll get Security Updates every month.
I was talking about big OTA updates, didi they take long to update it to Android 7.0 ?
The Verizon version got the 7.0 update very quickly. It was around black friday/Thanksgiving time last year. The 7.1.1 update hasn't been released for it yet but it has for the moto z play though. And I think there is a soak test happening for it right now. I don't think the unlocked version got its update till this year. January/February time frame I believe.

"LG formed the centre earlier this year and began operations last month. The centre, located at LG Science Park, the conglomerate's campus in Seoul, focuses on providing fast operating system upgrades and after-sales care for consumers.
Its main priority is offering stable support for non-routine OS upgrades to customers and to manage software of phones globally, not just in South Korea."
How do you think about it?
They are even late for April 1st jokes..
A good bull**** to attract the future buyers of the G7, they will be able to read the same **** at the exit of the G8 when they will not have had their update ^^

Lol sure.....
hahaha...another way to sell their phones...i dont buy LG phone again they didnt release oreo but they introduced new phone G7...lol
Remember when LG was the first (or one of the) to release Android Lollipop and Marshmallow? LG released Nougat 3-4 months after Google released it. Now they're dead last among flagship brands. My next phone will not be a LG.
Lollipop: https://www.engadget.com/2014/11/09/lg-first-with-lollipop-upgrades/

Wow so LG have been lying to us about the content of the (few) updates we have received too.

LG SUCKS
Just get it released so our fabulous developers can work their magic so we can flash it and stay rooted!
So LG could you tell me where is the Nougat update for G4? And Oreo for G5?

that's funny.
If they release a new phone before updating their current flagship, I'm staying away from this garbage company. Even Samsung's starting to get faster with updates.

SO was out before oreo for the s8 fully rolled out
They will definitely release G7 before updating G6 to Oreo. I strongly believe that during the presentation they will say that G7 has the latest Android with new UX and new ThinQ functions. They've claimed that some of the functions from ThinQ line will be available to G6 so they won't give us new functions before the release of G7. I think that even V30 won't receive the update to Oreo before G7 launch and Oreo will be the last major update for G6. G6 will be also my last LG phone even if I really love camcorder manual mode.
Is it possible that we're not getting official android pie update?
Many sites mentioned that H9 will probably not get the update but at the same time telling that H9 lite will most likely get one. It sounds stupid considering that they were both released almost at the same time and our phone supposed to be a "flagship" one.
I guess we'll know after IFA
It's pretty unlucky that they released H10 and many other phones so fast
Likely it will but in the last phase
I don't like to spend a lot of money on phones so I got the A3 in 2020 at a very good discount. I just recently noticed that I don't get updates anymore and that security patch in August was the last one. I didn't know that Android One only had 3 years in mind.
For example Iphone 7 has updates since 2016. It's a shame Android supporti ends so fast. Read that Pixels have 5 years
Thinking about getting a Pixel6a or maybe root this one and try custom roms but I don't have the time anymore for bugtesting.
What I want is a small phone and a good support.
