How do i unlock this phone? I bought this phone from somebody who said that it was unlocked. When I put my sim card in it, it asks for a "SIM network unlock PIN". Is this normal for an unlocked phone? If so, how do i get this unlock pin? The phone is originally an ATT phone, so i went through their network unlock claim service and they said that this phone wasn't eligible because its device payments had not been fully payed off. Isn't there a tool I can use on my computer and unlock the phone via usb like when you root a phone?

I need help.I have Xperia Mini Pro but unable to use it for last couple of months. It always is showing NETWORK IS NOT AVAILABLE.I have found that Settings->Location & Security->Set up SIM card lock->Lock SIM card , remains always open and reflects REQUIRE PIN TO USE Phone even without SIM also. The same SIM is functioning properly in another phone. I never used this option before. Other functions of the phone is absolutely fine. Please help me.Android version is 2.3.4.
Hi Forum. May be my first post. I just SIM unlocked LG V10 on T-Mobile. Here is what I can say about the process that might be helpful to others:
1-Phones can be SIM locked by manufacturers so that service providers ensure that phones can only be used on their network or certain countries. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIM_lock for more information.
2-The process of unlocking requires the service provider to request unlock codes from the manufacturer. The service provider may have requirements to unlock ( e.g. in my case I had to put $100 balance on T-Mobile prepaid card ). This process took 5 working days at which time T-Mobile emailed me to inform me that they were ready for me to initiate unlock on my device.
3-On my device, I ran a "Device Unlock" app which connected with somebody ( T-Mobile ? ) and verified my phone was actually unlock eligible and viola. I'm SIM unlocked.
What I would like to know is what has changed on my phone ( e.g. firmware, some information on some partition ) ? Does this mean I can now root, change ROMs and my phone will remain SIM unlocked ? Any links to information about what actually happens when device unlocked would be appreciated.

What I can tell you is that, if you did unlock permanent it is going to be unlocked even after rooting and installing new roms etc.
Now, I want to ask in this forum if the phone can be unlocked if the t-mobile unlock app says it is not eligible to unlock. I bought my phone on eBay, called t-mobile the phone is clean, but they could not unlock it for me because needs an account... So now I'm stuck trying to find a 3rd party unlock website to do it, 2 already said they could not... So I have the phone but can't use it. Any suggestions?
Yes, I can confirm that on this LG V10 having performed a SIM unlock and then having switched ROMs the unlock remained in effect.
So I aquired a h830 Sim unlocked. I unlocked the bootloader. And flashed 20a.now the thing is Sim locked again and the unlock app fails and won't unlock it
Any ideas
Just to update everybody. I despite not being a T-Mobile customer. Hit up their face book team. The whitelisted my device on the unlock server in less than 24 hours. Tell em you bought it factory direct. Unlock successful and free
i recently bought a used N10 from ebay and while i checked the IMEI on tmobiles site (its clean), its sim locked.
i used @Paula2707cq awesome debloat script and was able to toggle the OEM unlock. i got the key and sent for the bootloader unlock token and hope to get it soon but i now have a question.
will unlocking the bootloader get rid of the sim lock? if not, do i have to go through tmo? i tried the phone with my mint mobile sim card and everything works but im going to wait to see if i can unlock the bootloader or im going to send the phone back. thanks for any and all help.

Simlock means the phone is locked to the network (tmo)..try what i said in other response
Even it's unlocked it wouldn't work on AT&T, a locked TMo phone(not Metro's) will work on TMo and it's MVNO just fine.
This is regarding unlocking bootloader on T-Mobile varient. There are two observations.
1) After device is SIM unlocked modification of the setting that was greyed out, 'OEM Unlocking' will be possible..2) Without device being SIM unlocked, modification of same setting is possible by performing the ADB command ("adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.qualcomm.qti.uim")Surely the manufacturer wouldn't make SIM unlocking as easy as performing a simple ADB command. But if not, wouldn't that imply that it is, in fact, NOT necessary for device to be SIM Unlocked to Unlock bootloader? It Don't make any sense.
Has anyone tried to unlock bootloader on SIM Locked device and did it work? what happened?
I took my SIM Locked T-Mobile N200 that I never paid a single month for and that was blacklisted and account sent off to collections.
I did ADB command to enable OEM Unlocking. Went to FASTBOOT and acquired the unlocking key. I sent key to ONEplus via their T-Mobile Unlocking webpage. And Oneplus responded a week later with my unlock_code.bin file.. DEVICE UNLOCKED
So I guess this would imply that ability to modify the greyed out OEM unlocking is the only way to unlock bootloader and NOT that 'device must SIM Unlocked' as instructed in the unlocking process.. Device being SIM unlocked is simply just ONE method of allowing modification of that setting? Right??
If you use the adb command and send your IMEI through the device unlock portal on OnePlus.com, you can be bootloader unlocked without being sim unlocked.
It just seems too easy for a T-Mobile locked Contract phone to be unlocked, don't they check the Device against some sort of database or something before providing you the unlock_code.bin??

The unlock_code.bin file lets you bootloader unlock the phone. This does NOT SIM/network unlock your phone... Though with T-Mobile you're supposed to be SIM unlocked before you can bootloader unlock, we just figured out how to bypass that.
They just linked the SIM unlock to the same thing we've been using, is my guess. I'd be interested to know if I'm right, but at this point, it's moot.
SIM UNLOCKED (bought in September/2021)
It got sim-unlocked after 180day, by simply pressing "unlock permanently" without using Metro or T-Mobile sim ever. after 180day however the phone is seems out of time (outdated).
