Encryption Unsuccessful after Flashing latest Global Stable ROM - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I trust you all are well. I was using Lineage OS on my RN3 and I decided to go back to stock. After flashing the stock rom via MiFlash it keeps on saying Encryption Unsuccessful. I wiped the data partition and internal storage using TWRP and it still says Encryption Unsuccessful. Are there any solutions to this ?

You need to erase the internal storage to have it decrypted. After installation of indian ROM, the phone's internal storage becomes encrypted. In order to decrypt it back, make sure you save everything from your phone inside a computer, then in TWRP, erase/format the internal storage, copy the new ROM that you want to flash via TWRP (you won't have any system installed so you can't reboot otherwise you'll endup in some bootloop). You can Enable MTP to see the device in computer. After you have copied the new ROM, flash it and enjoy. This is my experience on X820 after flashing indian ROM, so I'm not very sure if all described above will work on X821 but you can give it a try. If you brick your device, there is a fix for hard brick as well, so, no worries.
problem decrypting..
I tried it by doing format system.. but it didn't got decrypted... N everything remained same...

In TWRP you need to press "Wipe", then "Advanced Wipe" and select "Inernal Storage", then swipe to wipe. Do note that everything on your phone will be erased, contacts, photos, music, etc. Wiping only system won't decrypt anything.
not working..

i booted into twrp then selected wipe->advanse wipe-> internal storage and then swiped to wipe,..
then it showed wipe failed unable to mount something...
Try to check in Mount and see if you can change something that can help.
Also someone with X821 maybe can help in this matter.
i tried that didn't help..

Try this command in fastboot
Fastboot format user data
Then
Fastboot reboot
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers mobile app

Hello,
Wolud you be so kind and share some link/info about this solution?

boot loop??
If u got into bootloop with a blue dot and phone restarting again and again, simply go into twrp and flash any of the official eui 15s 16s 19s Roms by wipe and install zip.

TWRP official "failed to mount data"

This is started when I try to flash the latest build of NOS Oreo. I flashed the ROM (with gapps of course) flawlessly, but when the reboot finished, it tells me to enter pin for start the Android. So, I go back to TWRP and then I try to format data, but it says "can't mount data", "can't create data directory", or something like that. Then, I try to reboot system and it seems that my phone gone bootloop.

Decryption Unsuccessful MIUI to HavocOS

Hello guys, I need a little help here, my MIUI version is out of date so I decided to try other ROMs and I picked HavocOS.
I wiped data, cache and dalvik using the latest TWRP and then installed HavocOS and OpenGApps, after a few second after rebooting, it gave me an error "Decryption Unsuccessful".
I tried to first flash the latest firmware for Kenzo and then second flash HavocOS but I got no luck. I also tried to disable passwords on MIUI but didnt work
So, would the only solution with this problem is to reformat the internal storage and change the partition type? Thanks

Format data is only option if u want to move from miui to custom roms. Custom roms cant decrypt it.
Ok, so this is what you have to do:
Go back to TRWP, wipe: data, cache, system (!!!), dalvik, than back to main menu and "wipe", tap "format data" button in the bottom right. A prompt will appear, type "Yes"
Now you can flash Havoc, and anything else you want and it will work.
Make a backup before everything you need from internal storage.

Install MIUI 10 Oreo without being encrypted?

I've installed MIUI 10 Oreo many times but every time I reboot to system after installation, it always tell me to "Reset phone" (format data). After having formated data, the rom automatically encrypts my data partition. How could I prevent this from happening? Thanks in advance.
I've tried using OFRP or flash disable dm-verity zip but it's no help.

1. Which OrangeFox release are you using?
2. Did you tick "Disable forced encryption" and "Disable DM-Verity" before flashing miui?

OFRP R8.1 was having compability issues with Pie treble zips so I switched to another TWRP mod recently (I don't remember its author). At the time I flashed MIUI Oreo, I was using OFRP R8.1.
I'm sure that I had ticked both of your mentioned options.
And btw, has OFRP fixed the compability with treble zips yet? I'm intending to return to OFRP so let me know that.

That version has been superseded (twice).

I confirm this "issue". That's strange because it's only related to oreo 8.1 new rom.
I didn't face the same detail on the MI5.
I overpassed this with dealing installation through OTG.
And it is good to stay with Data encrypted in case you loos your phone. My view.

If you were not using OrangeFox, then my question is redundant.
Are you trying to flash custom rom or MIUI?
Format ur data after (not data wipe) ..but you will lose yoir internal storage too...

'Format Data' in TWRP not working

I officially unlocked the Bootloader. Using 3GB variant. On latest MIUI stable Rom. Installed TWRP latest version.
System read only option is unchecked.
Whenever I tried to perform Format Data -> Yes, i got error, "you need to reboot recovery to use /data again".. I tried to reboot to recovery and perform the same but again same error. I tried with other recoveries to, But all failed. I tried so many times, only failure..
Please someone give me solution to perform Format Data without any error/warning.
This is a warning, not an error

Go to twrp.
Go to mount
uncheck box data partition
And try format.

I'm saying there's nothing to be fixed. After you get this message, reboot recovery and proceed with flashing ROM or whatever your goal is.
