What rom has lowest memory usage? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hi boys, im using 2gb variant of kenzo, and im struggling with really bad memory managment for most roms.
What is your daily driver on 2gb kenzo?
Thanks

Never use miui ..if you're worried about memory management

Well, i was using miui for couple weeks but looking for nice nougat rom, maybe worth to wait for aospa update so i can use custom Kernel like Agni or ElementalX?

I used LineageOS with stock kernel and LSpeed Root. Memory usage was below 1GB easily until I opened games like Injustice 2 or CSR2

Why don't you expand the RAM? I too have 2gb var. I am using radon latest with his settings for performance along with 1gb extended RAM. The phone is running pretty smoot.

[Q] RAM Expansion??

I'm just wondering if there is any way to expand the amount of RAM on my Galaxy Ace 2. I have Jelly Bean installed

Not physically, but you can go from round 400mb ram to 600 if you install JB correctly. There are pro's and con's of this though from reading around the place.
Ps. There is a Q & A section for a reason.
RAM Swap
I am not sure, but i guess u can use ram swap to do this. Google it!
AFAIK we have no kernel that supports SWAP at the moment.
BTW I find SWAP unnecessary since we have a lots of RAM.
dont know about RAM, but for Swap, i use it

D-kernel should be able to... And mind you, you are using the L variant if im not wrong. Who says its not possible. And we have enough ram for normal usage. But gaming? You'll need at least a Gig of ram...

Yep, my mistake, D-Kernel supports SWAP. But in my opinion SWAP doesn't bring any noticeable improvement. You would need a high class SD card an it will always be slower than RAM.
And I don't think that phones in general are good for gaming. But that's just my opinion.
COULD YOU READ THIS? YOU MAKE A THREAD IN WRONG SECTION, DUDE

Phone running slow

My SGS2 is running slower these days. i am currently on jb 4.1.2.what to do for faster operation.
factory reset .. install apps only which you need the most .. avoid installing apps which say they improve phone's accuracy and battery .. such apps are battery hoggers and tend to slow your phone ..

i did that but still the phone is ruuning slower. always the RAM memory shows an allocation of minimum 750-850 MB. Is it a time to go for new phone ???
You're not meant to have a lot of free RAM, that won't give you 'better' performance. Android hates free RAM by design, more free RAM won't give you better performance like it would on a PC.
The advice you've been given to factory reset & get rid of the bloat is sound, 'battery saving' apps like Greenify/etc are mostly rubbish & a waste of money. I would go one further and recommend a clean install of your rom every couple of months & only restoring data for apps you actually use.

Friend, how long have you used this ROM. Generally, every ROM seems fast at first installed but after times of using it all becomes slow.

8sec? our phone does not have ssd man.
Mine boots in about 40 sec I guess.
Anyway, what rom do you use that it boots this fast? I tried apolo once, worser performance and no battery difference compared to dorimanx.

Holy sh*t! On MIUI, I get only 1.2-1.6GB, after clearing all apps.
1.8-2.0 GB ram free on Slim6 by Umang on clearing all apps. Minimum always free ram is 1.8 GB.....never less than that. I have Facebook, twitter,Instagram tumble, WhatsApp and few heavy games installed too........I only use greenify app to save few battery

Android cares about free RAM, that's why it kills processes when it's running low, unlike with Windows, when it just chugs a long (and uses pagefile).

It cares, but it is better when more ram is used. It also kills the least recently (or least important) used process when it needs ram.

I guess knowing how much free RAM gives us a sense of available overhead for the future. Adjusting the LMK to make use of the available free RAM isn't a bad idea.

I concur.
SlimROM as everyone suggested!
But try out "Xaif's DarkRom" it's an extra lean Lineage OS with almost all the pixel features. Its LXDE of Android ROM's IMO

I've been using Havoc OS for some time now and its pretty good and stable, battery life is also not bad. Too bad its not on XDA anymore.
The only other a10 rom i've used on poco is crdroid 6.4 but it was not very stable then, maybe things have changed now.

I don't game, but I've seen other users praising it. Also another good feature on the latest build, you can select renderer of your choice between opengl or vulkan.

vulkan ia better but I've seen many roms reverting back to opengl recently, not sure of the reason. Could be related to stability as vulkan is new tech.
I really like Paranoid Android rom which based on CAF. Its smooth, clean, minimalistic.
