Disable navbar soft Keys permanently in nougat (Not immersive) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys i want to disable the navbar in my moto g4 plus and use gestures to navigate on the phone, the thing is, immersive mode is so intrusive with the gestures and i want to disable permanently the navbar softkeys of the phone, i've tried editing the build.prop with two codes without success, "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" and "ro.show.navigationbar=yes" rebooted after both and nothing happened. So i want to know if there is another method or app to do this?.
Thanks for all.

Edit your navigation_bar and/or navbar layout in SystemUI.apk. 0.0dip layout width and height instead of fill_parent.

Anyone able to get the aosp lock screen

Well? The lack of shortcuts is killing me but no xposed module I've tried seems to help...any suggestions?
Serjar (or whatever)'s Xperia Xposed makes it work. You can't change the shortcuts though and it only has vibrate mode and google now.
If on Android kitkat you could try gravity box and adding more shortcuts under the navigation ring settings. You won't be able to directly change the lockscreen but if you add more shortcuts to the navigation ring you can access them on the lockscreen by holding down on the camera shortcut. It's weird but it worked for me since I missed using cm's lockscreen.

Any way to disable the Navigation Bar, Soft Keys, or On Screen Buttons in NOUGAT?

I can't live without LMT Launcher. With Marshmallow, Xposed modules can disable the navigation bar/soft keys/on screen buttons so LMT Launcher can be activated from the bottom. xposed is not available in Nougat yet. Is there another way to disable them in Nougat? I do have root.
Goto Settings-> Display -> Home touch buttons -> Hide Home touch buttons
Here you will get a list of apps, turn off for apps you need or all apps.
This only hides them.

This is great for hiding the nav bar, but doesn't really work with lmt Launcher. When you swipe from the bottom up, lmt doesn't appear. Instead the nav bar unhides. There's gotta to be a way to disable the Navigation bar completely with root. Anyone have any ideas?
The best way to hide the nav bar without Xposed in nougat is via rro layer theme. If your ROM supports rro layer themes you can install the theme from LMT's OP.
Edit build.prop in system qemu.hw.mainkeys=’, set to 0 (zero) to enable the onscreen / virtual softkeys. Set it to 1 (one) to disable them. Make sure Lmt or alternate nav system in place before reboot.
Works for me anyway

Thanks, this works great! I tried this while on stock marshmallow for tmobile g5 and phone wouldn't boot. Phone booted in Nougat and navigation bar was completely disabled.

I'm using (and always used) the build.prop trick without problems with stock MM, probably you messed up in something else when trying to edit it?

If you are rooted, this may be what you're looking for.. Just be careful as these devices are easily brickable.
Because of the way Huawei does their Android setup, you don't apply these changes to /system/build.prop but you apply to /vendor/build.prop instead.

How can you setup that gesture system? Please can you show?
No solution for non rooted?

s3 navigation bar

Hi all, i broke my buttons so i tried to enable onscreen navbar via build.prop, qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 and it working but items in navbar are not in center, they are off, to the right. Using stock rom. What to do?
anyone?

Hiding nav bar and using hard press on home then drag left/right removed?

Hey so im hearing they removed thisfeature and replaced it with gestures as the only stock option to "remove" the navbar.
I take it the only way we can still have it if enough give feedback or using ADB though we can only hide it permanetly not replicate the feature on pre pie versions
