Quick Review Zerolemon 8500mAh battery case - Samsung Galaxy S8 Accessories

This is a quick review for the S8 8500mAh battery case from a everyday person.
The battery case itself its heavy, I start charging my phone approximately 20% and I'm able to get about 2 and a 1/4 charge off. While charging I use my phone for music, web browse, watch videos and text messages. Nothing too heavy like playing games. Its great when I'm out and not trying to find a outlet to charge my phone.
The case itself makes it feel like you're holding too phones, its about double the same of the phone. While wearing fitted jeans and slacks, it makes my phone very noticeable. I only prefer using the case when I'm not moving around actively, it makes the phone uncomfortable to keep in pockets when doing certain activities.
There's not a whole lot of protection for the phone besides like a 1mm lip from the top of the case and the bottom, where the speaker are cut out if you were to rest your phone face down. I have not dropped the phone while in the case, but I assume if it were to drop the weight would be focused on an angle.
I would recommend this to people who don't like sitting around and waiting for their phone to charge. People who are always out and use their phones heavily, or if you got a purse or man purse to carry the phone other than your bottom's pockets.

Do you recommend the Otterbox Defender Case?

I have the otterbox commuter but wanted a more protection without a big bulk. What do you guys think about the defender?

It is much better than I expected. My only complaint is that the height of the sides next to the screen are so tall that it makes touching the edges of the screen difficult. Other than that, it seem well built and it seems to give good protection. It's no Ballistic HC or Trident Kraken though.
I loved it on my Evo 4g, and I just received one for my evo 3d today. I am loving it as well.
You can get them cheaper on amazon if you feel like saving about 20 bucks.
My phone was ran over by a full size 2500 dodge RAM and survived without a scratch on it .the case was pretty messed up though, but my phone survived so it did its job

its pretty huge....and it makes me kind of sad that such a good looking phone looks like that after you put the case on it, but if i have to choose between being protected from a 5 kiloton nuclear blast or having a cool looking phone ill choose the former

I totally agree, this is my only real complaint with it as well
I usually wear cargo shorts during the summer (not some hipster wearing skinny jeans) so I've never had an issue with the size and fitting it in a pocket. During the winter it's usually in my coat pocket so size is never an issue there either. I like the grippyness of the silicone on the outside, and I like how the camera and all the ports are covered and protected.
I love mine. Was going to also get the Ballistic HC when it came out but now I may just keep using the Defender

I get mine tomorrow! We'll see how it goes. Im excited to see how well the clip works.

I love mine, but like two others pointed out, it's very hard to hit the left/right edge of the screen for things like pulling down the menu in landscape or moving icons between homescreens.
Other issue is the top portion by the speaker is cut-out for the screen protector, letting dust/etc in under the screen protector and smudging the forward camera. wish there could of been another solution, but overall it's an awesome case
Great Case
Highly recommend it. It makes the phone big though, so not recommended if you like to keep it slim. My opinion is Protection > Size.
I agree, the steep edges on the sides make tapping the screen on the edges a pain (the 'q/1' and 'p/0' keys on the keyboard have to be touched with the narrow side of your fingertip, same with games that have small menu buttons on the edge, or if I have the screen in landscape mode, its nearly possible to pull down the task bar because you need a farther reach to the edge than your fingers will allow.
ALSO, surprisingly the built in screen protector doesn't do a very good job at keeping dust out, scratches, yes, dust, no. A drop of water even managed to squeeze past the speaker and the edge of the screen protector and work its way to the middle of my damn screen, leaving water spots and dust. Taking it apart constantly to clean both your phone and email the inside of your screen protector is a huge annoyance because it takes me at least 2-3 minutes of prying it open without feeling like I'm going to break the plastic or snap off a clip that secures the case together when closed. I find that it needs cleaning at least once a week, but its just one of the few cons you have to consider when you want the best protection. No kickstand, but the belt clip holster sort of makes for an extremely bulky substitute. All in all, it's like the hulk, built like a tank, ugly as hell, but it's nearly indestructible. I do wish I could see and feel my beautiful investment in all its slim, sleek and sexy glory again, even run my fingers along the glass, but my luck would be that it would slip out of my hands or pocket, hit the edge of the plastic, chip its way to the glass, crack the screen, scratch the rest, create earthquakes, bring about the apocalypse, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria, etc.
The Defender seems very well built, protecting my phone from any damage. It becomes a very bulky phone compared to no case at all. As has been mentioned, it's difficult to put the checkmarks on the left or right side, because of the bevel of the sides. I was afraid when I bought it that the cover for the screen would inhibit responsive touch, but it works as if it's not even covered. Very responsive. I'd highly recommend this case for those who are clutsy and drop their phone often.

Same here across the board... Love mine.
A little bit of a pain when I have to swap batteries but not too bad.
With Juice defender ultimate I easily get 10 hours of mixed use out of my cheap ebay batteries and 16 hours out of the original so I normally can get to a charger before needing to charge.
Love mine and think I will probably stay with this case for a while . The only issue I ran into with this case was some callers said I sounded muffled . Now if that has to do with the case or an issue with the phone design itself has yet to be determined . Me personally I took a small triangle shaped file and filed the microphone hole in the battery back to be as big as the actual microphone of the phone itself . Across the board I have heard nothing but "you sound very clear" "not muffled at all" Like I said I cant say it was the case or the phone but either way the issue is resolved
Sadly I have to dissent. The little mechanism which keeps the clip on the holster open (to act as a kickstand) broke on mine after 11 days, got a new one which broke after 10 days (same place). Wanted to like it but for that much money I shouldn't have to exchange a product 3 times a month.
I like mine a lot. The only problem I've had is the one others have mentioned; the sides of the case interfere with typing.
Now I just I need to decide if I'm keeping the Evo 3D.

Yeah I love mine also. I like to believe that this phone can take on anything now. For me its all about safety, but I agree with aramova's reply. I do sometimes have an issue with the thickness of the bezel. I haven't really had a problem with the dust though. But before you put it on make sure you know how to open it because I a problem with it the first couple of times.
Seems to work great and protects the phone well.
And for those of us who do not use the holster, it can easily be modified to use as a car dock. Since none of the car docks will work with the Defender.
If anyone is interested in how I modified mine, I can take some pics later.
I mounted the holster on to a standard universal suction mount windshield phone holder and used a dremel to put a hole in it so that the power cord can be mounted and plugged in to the phone.
I then use Car Home which stays one when plugged in and has worked very well.
I have it and love it.
Only complaint is that it is creaky and otterbox never posted my review on their website for some reason. Weird.

Otterbox Defender... Razr Maxx heat issues?

So I ended up getting the Siedio Surface case and clip for my phone. But now I'm starting to wonder about getting an otterbox defender instead. My thoughts are primarily about using my phone mounted on my bike handle bars. And while I'm pretty safe rider there always the possibility of a spill or of the phone just bouncing loose of the clip. I figure the otter box case would give better protection.
Here's my two concerns though...
First, with having the screen protector, does that effect interface with the phone? If it still very responsive to touch? Does it interfere visually at all with your phone?
Second, having the phone nearly completely encased concerns me about heat build up. Anyone notice if their phone has gotten unusually hot in a Otterbox Defender?
Thanks for any experience you can share.
Answers to your questions from using Otterbox Defender for over a year :
1.The screen protector supplied with the case is somewhat responsive, regardless of the small amount of protection it provides (screen protector) it ain't worth using it.If you are much concerned about screen responsiveness, then try the screen protectors of Steinheil Ultracrystal Screen Protector series for your specific phone.
2.I never experienced my Razr Maxx getting over heated in its defender case. Not in a year!
The defender series AND the commuter series from otterbox are both great. Personally I prefer the commuter case, and I actually found a Seidio active case holster on Amazon and it fits the commuter case perfectly. This combination works much much better than the defender case and holster.
As far as heat goes I haven't had any problems except while using wifi tether.
1. I personally don't like the screen protector. Cause it makes the whole phone feel cheap because it's more plastic then an actual screen protector.
2. The case does build up heat and in some cases a little moisture builds up between the screen protector and the phones screen. Plus it puts a real grainy look to the screen and it is very hard to clean at times.
(Just my two cents)
Sent from my .211 leak razr do you wanna get cut?
I bought the commuter case but when playing games the phone would freeze. I assume this was from heat as it wouldn't happen with out the case. I'm thinking of cutting out most of the back, bot can't figure out how to get a clean cut on the silicone ... i use another case that doesn't give me that problem but it doesn't have the same protection level.
Heat Issues with COMMUTER case
I have used the Commuter Case since day one. The case and screen protector work great (screen protector isn`t as bad as people say; not the best but it is clear and not hazy like my current SGP Ultra Fine).
The case and silicone sleeve create a serious barrier against damage, but it traps heat inside. The Razr will overheat and needs to cool before it can be used. This has happened to me while using the phone on 4G AND Wifi. The phone will heat up quicker on 4G (naturally) and will overheat more as well.
I have seen other cases, but I wouldn't trust my $650 investment to anything else.

My phone is XT910.The battery is 1760 mA.
I use 3-proof cellphone case.
In the summer, the phone's fever is serious.

I got my case a few hours ago and I love it. I'll jump in with the crowd and answer your questions, repeating what they said:
Screen protector is responsive, it has missed a few very light touches that I was used to registering but it's seriously not a problem.
I played NFS Shift and GTA 3 for about two hours in a row today and it felt warm, but that's normal.
I wouldn't worry about the heat at all: most modern CPUs will slow down as the temperature rises into danger zones, and if they get hot enough they will freeze and/or promptly shut down.
I do like that the phone is actually something to hold now, and it gives it a distinct look: I've had three people ask me today what phone I'm sporting.

I agree, I use the same case. I actually prefer the screen protector. It gives it a nice glossy look, and it doesn't have a uncomfortable texture.
Just got my defender in for my non maxx RAZR. I like it a lot. Its different from other defender series, it just seems to fit better. Highly recommend it.

My non Maxx has spent it's entire life in a Defender series case. I'd agree the screen protector does take away a good bit of clarity from the screen but not a massive amount. The alternative is being all stylish like a co-worker of mine who has gone through two
broken screens having had no cases on his phones. But they looked good! These things on their own just can't take a hit--got to put a cover on em. I haven't had a heat problem other than when in my car mount, but that stands to reason as it's in the sun to begin with and the extra layers of black plastic and silicone can't be helping to cool the phone. Only other time might be an extended session with the screen at max brightness. You're burning up some juice making all that pettiness happen.

It will definitely be warmer
My wife has a defender case for hers and I don't (she works in an industrial setting and I work from home). It does get warmer than mine but not to the point of being hot. She also abuses the crap out of her phones and it is the only case that has stood up to it so totally worth it.

Case or no case?

My S6 edge will be arriving in under a week and just want to know your thoughts. I've never really put a case on a phone, but this is 1. Hugely expensive and 2. Looks a bit fragile.
I just think cases add bulk and make the phone look terrible... But if I do drop it I don't want it to smash to pieces.
Sent from my HTC One M8 using XDA Free mobile app
I always put a slim case on my phones. The Edge seems a lot more fragile than my old S3, especially with the glass back, so this was a must for me. I also dislike bulk which is why I hate otterboxes, but a thin protective barrier is better than letting the phone fall (or land) unprotected IMHO. I usually opt for the soft TPU cases. I bought a Spigen tough for my edge and I've been enjoying it so far. It doesn't add too much bulk.
This thing is too slippery to use without a case and with the back made of glass, I put a case on it. I used a Spigen Neo Hybrid. Very slim case and gives you a bit of grip, doesn't add bulk to phone. Works with wireless charger too.
Here is a brief review of the Sammy clear bumper...
Cant get much more minimal but among all the cases I've owned I would vote it least likely to succeed in a drop but there are other factors.
The phone doesn't lose any pretty to my eyes and it does get the phone off the table both screen side and camera wart side by about .00001 millimeters. Another thing I noticed is the phone when naked is actually thin enough combined with the sloping sides along the long edges both on the screen and back side to make it so that it isn't easy to pick up off the table. Not that its hard but I had to pay just an itsy bit of attention to doing it, adding the case gives me just enough to turn it back into the ordinary thoughtless process of picking up a phone. The case is about as slippery as the phone itself but it does feel quite a bit less like it might squirt out of my hands as it acts to flatten out the curve on the back side edges which it fills it in slightly giving me more area on the to grip. This flattening out of the underside along the long edges also plays into comfort when holding the phone in landscape for extended periods. Other than that the only thing I can note is that my anus felt a little stretched forking over 30 bucks for it which I'm guessing is north of 90% profit. Still for now it is the only case I've found that leaves the pretty while at least protecting it for ordinary use wear if not drops.

Roocase Glacier Tough Case Review

I did receive this case from Roocase in return for providing a review. That in mind, my initials thoughts were that although it was packaged nicely, in a static-free bag, it looked kind of cheap for the price range (the actual price on Amazon, not the price I paid)... I removed the case from the package and the journey to actually get the case apart and installed on my phone began. Like other reviewers, I had a heck of a time getting the case taken apart and then actually installed on the phone. It took a little bit to realize that you needed to install the front on the phone first, then snap the back into place. To be fair, with a little practice, the installation is not too difficult. A week in, it is still quite tough to remove the case.
I was using this case after using Spigen Slim Armor case. My big gripe with that case is that the buttons are almost impossible to differentiate without looking at them, and I find myself adjusting the volume when trying to wake the phone from sleep. This is definitely not a problem with the Roocase. The button covers are large and well textured. No problem there.
I also really liked that I could see the back of my phone through the polycarbonate back. Nice touch Roocase.
I have never been a big fan of built in screen protectors. I have already installed one on my phone, and while I haven't had the problem of my existing screen protector peeling off at the edges, I have noticed a decrease in the sensitivity of my screen, and I don't like the feel of the plastic screen protector built in to this case.
The port covers are a nice touch, but they are really difficult to get open. The USB cover also tends to cause some of my looser micro-USB cables to fall out while charging (like the one on my car charger), which is a pain. It also increases the security of the connection for some of my cables, so it's kind of a mixed bag there. After having them open for an extended period of time, the covers tend to stay open for a while, and I wouldn't be surprised if the problem only gets worse over time.
The case does seem to be built like a tank. I wouldn't be even remotely worried about dropping my phone with it in this case. I have used an Otterbox Defender on previous phones, and I would rank this one just as high on the protection level spectrum.
Overall I like the case. I like the flat back sometimes, but sometimes I do get a little annoyed by the above niggling issues and go back to my Spigen, or my CM Naked Tough case. If you need something that is built like a beast and like using the Otterbox Defender, then I would recommend the case. Otherwise, I would have a hard time recommending it at this price point ($19.98 plus free shipping).
I gave this 3 stars on Amazon.
Love the pictures.

[Review] RhinoShield CrashGuard Bumper Case & Screen Protector for Pixel (not XL)

I've been using the RhinoShield Crashguard for about a week now, and wanted to post a review of my experiences so far. FULL DISCLOSURE: I received my crashguards for free from the manufacturer for evaluation purposes. That said, this review is 100% my opinion and is no way influenced by anyone or anything other than my own personal experiences.
Phone: Google Pixel
Items: Red and Black RhinoShield CrashGuard (CG from here on out, since I'm already sick of typing the full name...) and Screen Protector
Size: Overall, the case adds quite a bit of width to an otherwise moderately sized phone (at least in today's phablet-laden market). From my rough measurements, the case is about 3-1/8" wide. This makes the phone feel much larger than it is. The CG is very sturdy, though, and there's no slipping of the phone in the case. It's a thick bumper, as you would expect for what it's designed to do. It does have a sizable ridge on the back side, which took a little getting used to. I must say, I haven't had a strict bumper case ever on any phone, so it felt a bit unnatural for me to widen the phone so much without any corresponding thickness added. The CG made the phone take up much more room in my pocket than I expected, and made one-handed use a bit awkward. It just didn’t feel right to have such an effectively-wide but relatively thin device.
Protection: Undoubtedly, this case adds great protection. I haven't put it through the gamut of tests, but did once drop the phone onto a hardwood floor from 36"-48" without any issue. I thought (feared) for sure the glass would have been cracked, but it was totally fine. There's more than plenty of front and back lip/raise to leave me feeling very comfortable to toss the phone on my desk or end table face-up or face-down without any concern. I felt like the phone was well protected given the design. Keep in mind, this is not at all an Otterbox, but outside of dropping on jagged rocks of the corner of something blunt, I feel very confident the CG will keep the phone safe on normal falls.
Look/Feel: I tried out both the red and the black CGs, and the black is my preference. The red was a bit more "neon" than I expected, a sort of salmon-y/orange-ish red. At first I was little surprised, but I suppose this makes total sense since the CG is a matte plastic. You can see more in the expanded imgur album at the link below. It added a little grip, but not much. I had saw someone suggest the case's grip made it hard to get the phone out of their pocket, that was not my experience at all. This case weighs basically nothing, so it was really awesome that you get some protection with essentially zero added weight. Overall, really like that you still see the phone's construction with just a bumper, but I’m still split on whether or not the odd aesthetic is worth it here.
Other General:
The case seemed to heavily dampen the phone's already average vibrate. I frequently did not recognize notification vibrations with the phone on my desk while in the CG. Phone calls were clearly noticeable, though.
Another item is that the charge port is not large enough for my i-Orange and Cable Matters aftermarket cables. On the black one, I could shove them in and eventually get a charge, but no luck with the red. The stock Google charge cable fit perfectly fine, as did the stock cable from my 5X.
I had no issues with the headphone jack opening, but given that the case is quite thick around the edge, I could see some headphones with a thicker plastic casing, or potentially with an angled plug, not fitting perfectly. YMMV, and again, my Amazon Premium/Fire headphones fit perfectly well.
ScreenGuard: As noted in detail in my imgur link, the screenguard seems to be about 1-1.5mm too narrow for the phone. Interestingly, this was the exact same problem my brother noticed with his Zagg screen protector on his Pixel Xl, so I'm not at all convinced yet this is RhinoShield's fault. Nonetheless, it's worth noting. It has no real functional impact on the device, and the front camera, sensor, and earphone holes align perfectly. I do with the screenguard was a bit wider, though. Not necessarily due to the small gap, but more due to the thickness of the protector causing quite a sharp ridge along the edge of the screen, which you'll constantly scrape across when swiping from left to right for menus and google now. If the protector was wider, this would be somewhat minimized. The surface is slick, too, which is nice...I didn’t feel any added physical resistance when swiping around, and there was no added delay to screen responsiveness. I never use screen protectors since i personally find them useless given how well gorilla glass has evolved, but am overall fairly happy with this one. I'll likely be keeping it on which, for me, says a lot...before I put it on I thought for sure I'd be getting rid of this in a day or two.
Pic: A couple attached, and lots of pics here: http://imgur.com/a/3khHx
Overall, I'm up in the air on if I'll continue to use the CG bumper. I'm not sure if I value the awesome fall protection over some of the functional aspects that it alters (ergonomics, feel, vibration dampening, overall size, etc), but it no doubt will keep the phone quite safe on a daily basis. I'm going to keep cycling between the CG and my Maxboost slim case to see which direction I want to go. It's definitely a nice bumper, and seems quite durable, but I still haven't decided if it's right for me. Here's a link to a bunch of pictures of the red and black cases, as well as my slim case for comparison.
Cheers
I bought the RhinoShield bumper and screen protector and have been using them for a few days ago.
Because my bare phone felt SO slippery in my hands, even basic one handed use was basically impossible and now I can use the phone with one hand quite effectively. Google Keyboard's one handed mode is helpful, but I can also grip by the side and reach to the top half of the screen.
Like this! (See pic)
Therefore, ergonomics is much improved, and I'm not bothered with the width. My hands aren't small and my fingers are long, and because it's definitely not feeling like a phablet yet.
As soon as the guard was on (over the sofa) I was tossing the phone and flipping it on my hand.... Grip!!! I could hold my phone haha.

At this point, which case would you say has been better: the rhino or Max?
For what it's worth, I was chatting with Rhinoshield's Customer service to explain my issues with the CG for Pixel (not XL), and was informed that a revision 2 is currently in the works and expected to be ready in January/February.
Issues they are addressing:
- fitment on the volume rocker side to remove the bulge
- easier to press buttons
- enlarging the charge port cutout to better accommodate third party cables.
Honestly, with the amount of width this bumper adds, I would only recommend it as an alternative for users that normally look to buy LifeProof or Otterbox cases. This is definitely not what I'd call a low profile case. With the CG on, my phone is as wide as the Nexus6P.
I personally have switched to a Ringke Fusion as my daily driver and will use the CG only if I know I'll be needing some added protection.
