(Another) Quick review of a ZeroLemon 5500mAh battery case - Samsung Galaxy S8 Accessories

I got this case due to the fact I'm away from a charger for many hours of the day, mainly weekends when "on the road", and don't want to lug around a spare battery pack (and everyone else is using the car chargers)...So, this seemed like the perfect alternative, and it works just as I wanted it to.
Yes, it is rather bulky (as another Zerolemon review said, it's about like two phones stacked on top of each other)....But, it hold the phone good and works with screen protectors.
The true test was when my 15yr old son borrowed it to go "Pokemon Go" hunting yesterday evening. His phone was at 18%, came back about 3 (ore a little longer) hours later with it at 62% and had the screen on the entire time. He said "I'm using that from now on when I go Pokemon hunting"!
So, it works great, looks good, and is "teenager approved".. Just bulky, but you know that going into it.... I'm 100% satisfied with it.

Thanks for the review! Is it a two piece case with the battery separate and the TPU case separate?

Well, the battery does come out.......but it has the speaker/mic ports and charger all attached to it, that come out of the case with it. So, you can't use the case without the battery.
So, when you put your phone in the case, you remove the battery and attache it to the phone (USB port), then you put it in the case.
Here, before I posted this reply, I snapped a couple of pics.

GTMax 3500mAh High Capacity Battery + New Back Cover $12.99!

So I found this battery on Amazon about a week ago for $12.99.. Ordered it and I am extremely impressed. Running Stock Rom + Root, constant use daily.I was really getting pissed off with the battery that came with the phone, it just doesn't do it justice.
Pro's - Been using the phone (50% Brightness, Downloading videos, youtubing, texting, phone calls, tinkering with GO Launcher stuff, almost played through a whole game of Words with Friends) Came off the charger at 3 P.M. today, legit screen on using the phone action about 4-5 hours tonight and it's now 11:25 P.M., battery is just hitting 65%! Extremely impressed with the performance of this battery and would recommend it to anyone that needs some extra juice.
Cons - It makes the phone about twice as thick towards the bottom half (I actually like this, it makes it much easier to hold on to and just grip in general). Also adds a significant amount of weight to the phone but nothing annoying, just saying.
UNSURE - Not sure about the NFC Capabilities of the battery, no one around me here has a phone with NFC so I can't test it... Honestly for the performance I could give a S*** less about NFC whether I keep it or lose it.

Awesome price! Great buy for trip battery.
Sadly with that thickness, I would rather club baby seals
Nice find, going to have to think about this buy some more.
so are you able to charge normally? or is it like the other batteries where it throws you into a boot loop?
Just got an extended battery myself. Yeah it's thicker but using a phone all day without worrying about charging it, worth it for me.
Yeah, I just ordered this one too.
I had one on my captivate and I really liked it.
What does it matter if your phone is thin but you keep getting warnings that you need to charge it?
On my captivate if I got down to half of the battery with the larger battery I didn't have to worry, I had good 8 hours of use left.
Just confirmed it does NOT have this boot-loop issue common with the aftermarket batteries. Operates the exact same as the stock battery, still unsure of the NFC capabilities.

Sorry, but I think GTmax stuff is not that good, I purchased 3 batteries made by GTmax, there is no description of mA with just some generic label. Also, out of the 3, 2 were junk lasting only about 10hours with minimal use. Only one battery was decent, pretty close to OEM.
Also, looking at the battery debug info *#*#INFO#*#*, these batteries are more volatile than OEM, as the amps and temperture fluctuate more than normal.
Good Battery Possible Bad Cover?
I turned my phone off to put this new battery in. I fully charged it before turning it on.
It lasted 42 Hours before it died.
I was running Bluetooth, Pandora and Wifi Medium-Heavy Duty.
So the battery seems good, But it seems the back cover wasn't crafted all that well UNLESS I just got a bad one. It seems like a corner of it won't stay pressed down. Its not a huge gap, but it is somewhat noticeable.
Is anyone else think that their back cover doesn't fit all that well or is it just me?
Can someone post some pics of this on your phone?
The pics on Amazon don't show it on the phone and don't show a side-view of the new back cover.
...nevermind, pics in first few posts. company blocked the images
Got mine earlier today I will post back if there are any issues.

Where is the magical Samsung NFC Battery?

I don't remember where I saw it, but I remember there being a Samsung Galaxy S II 2000 mAH battery that was NFC-Capable and required no bigger battery door.
Does anyone have the link?
Search ebay for this: GENUINE-SAMSUNG-GALAXY-S2-i9100-ORIGINAL-BATTERY-2000mAh-HIGH-CAPACITY-COVER
I am new to this forum so I can't post a link yet.
I purchased it a few weeks ago for my At&t S2. It works great! When at home on the weekends my battery only goes down to about 70% by the end of the day, before it usually dropped to around 30-40%. Although the battery fits perfect the new cover was made to fit only the Korean version of the phone. I used an xacto knife and trimmed the interfering catches on the sides of the new cover so it fit in place. The end catches of the cover still fit. I then placed the phone in a TPU case which fit perfect without any budges or stretches. Actually feels better to handle and still weighs 8 grams less than my old iPhone 4.

Looking at the pictures it seems that the new battery cover is every so slightly larger. Is that true?
Yes, the Korean battery cover makes the back of the phone flat instead of dipped at the bottom. Also recesses the camera window slightly which is good to protect it. Same texture on the new cover as the original one. It's too bad Samsung didn't make the catches the same on both covers.
The battery works w/o reboots when charging via USB?
So, does it say "Near Field Communication" on the back of the battery like the original 1650maH one?
I have an extra 2000 mAH NFC battery for sale. PM me.
The Korean 2000ma battery does say NFC on the back and I have not noticed any reboots when connected to my PC. I actually don't connect via USB very much, just use Kies air which works good.

Would you say that the back would have no problem staying on if you didn't use a case? I have the car dock and a case won't fit, but I think the battery would. Thanks.
I have not tried to carry the phone without the external case. Mine won't fall off but doesn't require much effort to pop it off with a finger nail. I would be uneasy to use the Korean back without the external case. I did have to give up my home charger base because of using the external TPU case, but I felt it was justified by the extra protection provided by the case.
I have a Ballistic SG case on my phone. Would this battery possibly still fit?

I searched and all I'm finding are international sellers, which takes forever and in the past I've gotten several fakes from international sellers. Anyone know if Amazon or a US Seller has this extended ORIGINAL battery?
Thanks!
I am also hesitant to buy the battery from a foreign 3rd party seller. I spent about an hour and a half on Samsung Korea's website with google translate and I haven't been able to find it for sale on their site.

So I got the Battery today, the battery cover doesn't fit perfectly. I had to get a buffer and do it to both sides of the insertion cover (left + right) for it to be "snugly", though I went overboard on the right side and it's pretty ugly if you look in between the cracks.

Sounds far less than ideal. :-(
The less than perfect fit on the battery cover was not an issue for me. I knew of the issue before ordering the battery. What was important was extended battery life and I wanted to put the phone in a light weight case anyway. The TPU case was a perfect fit and affords a better grip then no case. I am running JuiceDefender in auto mode with a very stock AT&T phone. Bluetooth and wifi are always on and two imap email accounts. On work days I'm usually down to around 70% by night, weekends typically 80% left. I use the phone only on a moderate level, no game playing or videos. Just nice to know I have plenty of reserve left just in case I need a heavy use for a few hours.

Juice defender is so crippling. If you're only using 20-30% all day with JD enabled, why bother? Might as well unleash your phone's full potential, and let it do it's thing. You may only have 20-30% remaining at the end of the day, but as a non-power user, why do you bother using JD? Are you OCD like me and hate seeing less than 75% battery remaining? LOL
It fits perfect now, and it's still thinner and lighter than the original Galaxy S (Captivate)!
Any pics? I want to get an idea of how much thicker it gets.

3200mAh External Battery Reharger Case ( less bulk then extended battery with hump )

just saw this while searching for cases on ebay...etc
you get some bulk but nothing close to those extended battery with ugly looking bulge/hump
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370637056133

Just had this good case sharp feel around the edges but its biggest problem is the charge rate is .5 amps. Our phone prefers 1 amp, as such the phone charges extremely slow and sometimes while using the phone you will actually lose battery. I ended up returning mine, thinking of getting a 5,000 amp battery because of this, tried not to but that's the best option.

i have the smaller 5200 mah extended battery and this case.
Honestly i like them both but i go back to the 3200mah case with stock battery because it charges my phone while i stream pandora all day. .5 charging amp isn't that big of a deal. it still charges the battery for me.
extended is nice too though, but they don't last as long as you would think. (at least mine didn't) unless you buy an expensive mugen one.
Just ordered this up, thanks for the posting! It's everthing I want - mega juice, option to remove without shutting phone down, good looking (no HUMP!), kickstand, and cheap! Could also double as a multi-use external battery pack for other phones, mp3 players, etc. Now to calm my anticipation for 3-4 weeks while I wait for shipping, LOL.

Some of these look pretty nice, but some of them defeat the purpose of the s-pen, especially the ones that totally block it & include a crappy lil' stylus instead :/
Still waiting in the big boat to cross the ocean. Should be delivered any day between now and Nov 4th hahah.
Battery case showed today. Initial impressions: great feel in hand, very textured and slightly rubbery but slides in and out of pocket well. Fit is ok, one corner could have been molded a little tighter. Nice suade material where the phone rests against case protects phone and keeps from shifting around. The micro-usb fits VERY tight, a bit scary like if I pull hard enough to remove i might break the pigtail cable. Kickstand is cheap/lightweight but works. We'll see if this offers anything near over double the battery life I get. If not, I'm only out 17 bucks. I'll report back in a week or two after it's run in for awhile.

[VIDEO] Verizon Wireless Droid DNA Wireless Charging with a TPU Case

I've been making little videos for the past couple of days since I bought so much little stuff. I'm exhausted. Basically went to a Verizon store, slapped my DNA down on the mat and it started charging. For something to work so well out of the box, I was a little surprised. Usually just about everything requires some kind of setting modification.
What I was really looking for was a case. I hated the fact that they only had a pink and blue TPU case. The Otterbox did show up online, but neither of the two stores I visited had them. For S&G, I went ahead and asked for the TPU case to try it on. It fits pretty snug, and I have other videos on that. What I really wanted to know is if the DNA would charge with the case on. While he was grabbing the case I hovered the phone over the mat. It charged. Good sign there...
After putting the TPU case on, I tested it out and everything worked. As I went home, I was thinking that the case would probably make the charging really slow. By the end of Black Friday my phone was pretty much dead. I got home, put it on the pad, and it does charge alright. I'll try to run the phone down twice in the future to compare the factory charger with the mat.
With the Otterbox Defender Case
EDIT: Added the video of the Otterbox Defender case. A little less forgiving on the placement. Expect charging times to increase even more. Even with the TPU case it looked like the charge took twice as long as with a MicroUSB cable. This is okay if you're going to have it on the charger more due to ease though.
With the Otterbox Commuter Case
Removal of Speaker from LG WCP-700
Many people don't like the speaker because it will cycle once charged and beep over and over again. Other solution would be to get use to it or take it off the charger once it is charged.
Thanks for this! I know a lot of people asked for that. I believe this charger is from the older gen of the wireless charging standard which allows for a distance of 4mm. So most cases should be fine. Don't quote me on this but the newest revision of the qi standard allows for 40mm which will be very nice. (good for building into desks and such)
Also as a fellow owner of the LG pad, having that extra distance would be nice because sometimes the phone has to be readjusted to get it to work.
Also works perfectly with the Verizon Shell/Holster combo. I keep the shell on for the built-in kickstand and it charges without issues.

No problem. I'm going to have to look at the standards now. I didn't think I'd enjoy this feature as much as I do. That was probably because I assumed the phone had to be naked.

The otterbox defender case makes wireless charging almost not worth it but i can attest that it does work with the Lg pad from verizon.
Kind of depends on what you're goal is here. I think the wireless charger was designed for longer use from the beginning. Times when you ordinarily wouldn't go through the hassle of putting a phone on the charger, you can.

Zero Lemon Nexus 6 Slim Power case review.

**ZeroLemon contacted me about a week ago asking if I would like to receive a free review unit of the Nexus 6 Slim Power case, and I accepted. This is a non-bias review on the case. I received it 9/16/2015 and promptly installed it. This review will be updated for 7 days.**
I have previously used ZeroLemon products for my Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S4, and my girlfriends Nexus 5. I have found that the internal replacement batteries are much better than the externals, but the external ones come with cases that may actually give your phone a chance to live during a drop. I have so far enjoyed all of my ZeroLemon products.
9/16: Received ZeroLemon slim power case in the mail and installed it immediately, replacing my SUPCASE Unicorn Beetle Pro.
The first thing I notice was that this case literally doubles the thickness of the phone. Not only that, but it adds nearly half an inch to the bottom of the phone below the speaker. The battery included in the package fits very will in the case, but I'm still a bit shocked that ZeroLemon thought 3500mAh was enough.
The case comes with a Z-shaped connector to keep the phone and the battery connected, and allows pass-through charging via a micro-USB port on the left side of the phone. There is also a decent sized cutout on top for the 3.5mm jack, though they decided to include a 3" 3.5mm extension with the case.
To turn the battery on, you hold the power button on the back for a few seconds and you will have confirmation by your phone beginning to charge, as well as 4 blue LED lights on the back of the case. This works exactly the same as all of their other cases for phones with non-user-replaceable batteries.
First impressions:
-This thing is big. It's got a nice weight to it and makes it feel solid. Fits well in my hand (I have fairly large hands for a 25 year old male).
-The power and volume buttons are EXTREMELY SENSITIVE. I can't tell you how many times I have accidentally pressed something when just picking the phone up.
- No Qi-charging. Unfortunately, ZeroLemon does not give us a Qi capable battery, and the case is so thick that even a 3-coil charger will not penetrate it. (Now I have 2 nice Qi chargers that I can't use)
-No Quick Charge 2.0. This (as well as not having Qi) was a real bummer. ZeroLemon had previously sent me one of their Quick Charge 2.0 chargers, but it seems that it is now useless as you are actually charging the external battery, which in turn charges the phone.
-Single piece construction. The case itself feels solid, but I was hoping that it would be more like the one for the Nexus 5 that was 2-piece and had a plastic screen protector.
They really needed to include a belt clip with this case. It's that big. Because of the size and the buttons being so sensitive, I can't really carry the phone in my pants pocket. When I put it in the breast pocket of my shirt, half of the phone sticks out, and the thickness almost prevents it from sliding in at all. Not including some sort of belt clip was a very poor idea.
9/22:
So I've been using my ZeroLemon SlimPower case for about a week now.
More things of note:
-NFC does not function with this case on
-Full charge of the battery in the case gave me about 40% charge (went from 30% to 71%)
-Buttons are WAY too sensitive. Just from being in my pocket and walking around, My battery life has been terrible (screen keeps turning on and off)
-The case does not do a very good job of protecting the phone. The two times that my phone fell (once from the arm of the couch, the other from the coffee table), the case literally just popped right off. A case this large really needs to be 2-stage or have some way to hold the phone in better.
-My cullular signal also seems to be hindered with this case installed. Where I would normally have a little bit of service at my office, I have no connection with this case on. Immediately when the case comes off, I have service again.
-Have had the phone randomly restart on me 3 times since having this installed. Never had an issue with this before.
All of my initial impressions stayed with me the entire time using this case.
I can see times where having the extra battery could be useful, but honestly, you are better off getting an External battery for the same price as this case or likely even less. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this case.
keep a eye out for reboots, mine would reboot several times a day when i was using my case. i absolutely agree on the case needing a holster. its like having a vhs tape in your pocket, the over sensitive buttons was a big problem as well. i took mine off as im in meetings the rest of the week so its def overkill. got a 14 hour mountain motorcycle ride sunday though

I've had mine a couple weeks. Haven't needed to use the battery too often but also haven't really been able to because it takes so long to charge both the phone and the battery I seldom manage to fully charge it. I hated how much it screwed with my ability to screenshot so I cut a strip out to expose my buttons lol. When I used AOSIP screenshot was built into the power menu but I'm on Chroma Marshmallow now. Good news is battery life is so solid now that I may not need the case after all. I'm looking at over 6 hours on screen with the ROM, Hells Kernel and Greenify and it hasn't even had the chance to optimize apps yet
zerolemon sent me a review unit that ive been using when needed for a week or so. its not something id use all of the time due to the size, but overall im very happy with it. it is a brick, but surprisingly comfortable to use in the hand and doesnt feel too bad in my pocket all things considered. it charges my phone while im still using it even though it doesnt support qc, so thats a big plus in my opinion. on days where i know i wont be near a power supply ive brought this with me and its much better than bringing an external battery pack imo. phone seems to slide down just a hair in the case as sometimes when i hit power it actually activates volume up, but thats not too often and easily fixed. i would definitely recommend if you need the extra juice.
I took a knife and cut out the buttons and now they are perfect. Unfortunately when I put this case on, it makes my tempered glass nillkin screen protector get some lift on the edges (which it never has when the case is not on). So I don't use it now. I have it for a backup case for trips to keep extra juice, but honestly with Android 6.0 the battery life is so much better now with doze, this case isn't really needed as much.
I tried this case and returned it to amazon. It is very poorly designed.
It's literally one giant piece of rubber. No way to secure it to your N6, so it falls out when tossed on the couch! What a horrid design flaw!
The battery also constantlyrubs against the back of my N6 and made a few scratch marks after only a few weeks of use! There is also a ton of space left in the back, ZL should have gone with a much higher capacity battery for a case that thick.
Hate this case, absolutely hate it. Coming form three past ZL cases, which were all great, this one feels incredibly rushed.
Broke down and bought this case..straight garbage will be returning mine .zerolemon should be ashamed to sell this product

So update after owning this case for a while. Seldom had the chance to fully charge my phone as well as the case. Wasn't really worth it, with Chroma Marshmallow I'm averaging 6 to 7 hours of SoT now so it was more of a waste not to be able to fast charge honestly. When i had the ZL case on my Nexus 5 it was way more worth it. At least I could pull out the plug and charge both batteries at the same time. Took the case off today, ripped the screen protector off my Supcase and put that back on.
So to sum it up, battery is too small, buttons are so bad I had to cut them out, and for someone who doesn't sleep 10 to 11 hours a day or sit at a desk all day with their phone plugged in, its pretty useless
I'm actually considering buying a Note 4 and slipping on a Zerolemon 10,000 case. Just need to figure out what the best ROMs are and if it would be worth it. I'm tired of seeing manufacturers phase out removable batteries
From the moment I saw that case, I knew it was gonna be rushed garbage. Pathetic move from ZeroLemon. But can't blame them as much as phone makers that make non removable batteries
Better get used to unibody phones and honestly when I can charge my phone as fast as this one charges, extended battery isn't necessary for daily use.... PS...greenify.

No thanks. I'll be switching to LG for removable batteries. Besides, quick charging or not, not everyone can easily access a charger. Especially in my case being overseas
I'm a little surprised by all the negative reviews. I've been using this case since it came out and it's been totally fine for me. Granted it's absolutely massive but serves it's purpose. My phone has never popped out of it and haven't had much by way of random reboots. It has definitely gotten me through some tight Jams but yes, as stated above the buttons are extremely sensitive.

I think people just expected better from ZL based on past experience. I own the Note 2 and 3 batteries. They were excellent, well designed, made good use of space. This one looks rushed, and doesn't make good use of space, for a small increase in capacity. Well, small by ZL standards anyway. To be fair, they are somewhat limited by the design of the Nexus 6. The non-removable battery makes their standard methods impossible. That is unfortunate, I would absolutely buy a Note style battery from them. Having 20+ hours SOT available was exceptional. If they had supported quickcharge on this one, I probably would have still bought it.
At this point, I'm just hoping Sony makes a good device next year that is available from T-Mobile (Jump). With their open source support, if they keep removable batteries and SD, that would be a killer combo.
If you think this case is tolerable then you must not screenshot often
thanks
thanks
Ugliest thing I have ever seen. It is more of a punishment to use this case than a benefit.
