I wanted to know if there is any way to install an ota zip on rooted phone.I am currently on twrp 3.1.1. I have already tried flashfire. i have also tried restoring to stock system, boot, recovery(using flash firmware option in flashfire app) but still it it shows 'can not update' error even in stock recovery.
Very very thanks to anyone who replies.

there's no flashing option on stock recovery.
Only at TWRP (or other custom recovery) Flash directly from there.
Rooting has nothin to do with it.

Oh, that error means the ROM might be faulty or you're flashing the wrong one.
Be ensure of the ROM first.
Redownload and check.

[Q] Custom Recovery installation

I`m on ICS gsm razr with TWRP installed, but I'd like to install CWM to restore a stock backup made last year with it, because I think I somehow bricked my stock slot rom......
No success trying to install CWM with Rom Manager, so I'd like to know if there's any way to install a CWM zip via stock recovery...
If yes, will I lose TWRP? And is there a stock recovery flashable TWRP zip so I can go back eventually?
My usb connection isn't working, so I can't flash stock via RSD.
I'm guessing that my usb problem is related to my stock slot rom issue, because even when charging it acts weird, not even charging sometimes...
Woul be thankful for any help!

Dont try to install CWM recovery using Rom Manager! Use eitheir Safetrap by Hashcode (based on TWRP) or Boot Menu Manager by whirleyes (based on TWRP). If you have usb problem, so nothing you can do. I suggest you to buy a usb cable. So you can flash the Stock rom.

You're not getting it... Already tried to install CWM via Rom Manager and BMM, but no success... Seems like TWRP persists after I try to install CWM...
I know there's a way to install custom recovery from stock recovery, but I'm not sure which CWM zip file I need to use...
And I've already tried a usb cable my friend, my issue is exacty that my phone doesn't get recovgnized by my computer...
So, can someone point me a zip CWM/TWRP file that can be used to install custom reco very via stock recovery?
That's all I ask and I''l be very thankful!

No, you cant install a zip file from stock recovery unless it was signed from Motorola. This phone are different with other phones. What do you mean by TWRP recovery? Is it Safestrap or what?

Safetrap will install Team Win Project Recovery (TWRP), while Bootmenu and Rom Manager install ClockWork Mod Recovery (CWM), right?
I need to boot into CWM Recovery, caus I have a backup I made there that could fix my usb issue and allow me to go back to stock... But the issue is that I've got safestrap (TWRP) installed, and i can only boot into safestrap. Tried to install BootMenu and even Rom Manager, but haven't managed to boot into CWM...
I think i have CWM installed, but I junt cant boot into it... Any ideas?
Can I install CWM via safestrap? Will it overwrite it?

[Q] CM11 nightly for Verizon Note 2 failed flash

I'm in the process of flashing CM11 from JellyBeans, and am stuck booting into recovery mode. I attempted to flash the latest CM11 nightly release using TWRP recovery 2.5.0, which failed. I then tried to reboot and it said that I had "lost root permissions" and asked if I wanted to fix them, which I agreed to. Now it will only boot into the TWRP recovery mode.
Here is the text from when I try to flash the file.
Checking for MD5 file...

Error flashing zip '/external_sdcard/cm-11-20131230-NIGHTLY-i605.zip'

[with a bold red FAILED below this text box]
Any ideas on why it won't flash, and what it will take to fix it in this state?

You can download the latest zip (6.0.4.3) and flash in your current recovery, or use a tool from the market place. Something like this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mkrtchyan.recoverytools&hl=en

Live and learn! :good:
We have all been there. Always make a backup before flashing anything.
I also was not able to flash CM11 using TWRP... Assuming you can transfer files to your SD Card (microsd adapter maybe?) try flashing a 4.2 touchwiz based rom and see if that gets your phone to boot. Once you are back on, download the ROM Manager app and use it to install CWM. Then reboot into recovery (it will now be CWM) and flash CM11. Make sure you have the correct google apps zip as well.
Question... did you wipe memory/cache?

Stock Deodexed Tmobile G900T Lollipop 5.0 anyone?

I looked around for one but was unable to find one. Maybe Twi5sted's stock has the original kernel but encryption fails when I attempt it.
Any suggestions?
Yep, muinz_ri created a Stock De-Odexed ROM. I was successfully able to install Xposed by flashing everything through FlashFire and still have Knox 0x0.

I'm getting a bootloop with a very bright split second tmobile splash screen just before it reboots. I have latest TWRP, link2sd and encryption... I wonder what the problem could be...
how to make stock recovery flashable?
I do have another question regarding this rom - would you happen to know how I may be able to make the embedded recovery image flashable? TWRP doesn't seem to be working at the moment with regard to decrypting and formatting /data but the stock recovery does. It can come in handy if there is a way to do it via mobile odin possibly or via some other program.

Right now I have stock recovery as I recently reflashed the Rom. At some point however I plan to go back to TWRP.
If I run into encryption problems and need to do a reset, I would like to see if I can flash TWRP using TWRP app while booted in safe mode (if I am able to get that far).
What do you think?

Yay it worked, thanks a lot
I guess I should keep the stock recovery installed with this thing encrypted because TWRP seems broken (at least version 2.8.7.0). I emailed the developer about it.
Now I'm wondering for added flexibility, how I may be able to flash the stock recovery from MobileOdin. That seems to take .md5 files and not zips. Is this feasible to do?

Well thanks! Maybe you can point me toward the Windows way as I would like to do the same for the stock kernel, xposed, and the tethering addon.
fishinpercolator so are you having trouble with TWRP? What I did in FlashFire was flash the pre-rooted de-odexed ROM (that I linked earlier) then booted that. It was de-odexed and worked fine but boot took about 15 minutes (as it is de-odexed).
In FlashFire you need to hit the + and press Flash ZIP or OTA.
Then I installed FlashFire again (it was erased because I flashed a new ROM) and downloaded the Samsung 5.0 Xposed ZIP and flashed that in FlashFire using Flash ZIP or OTA. Basically since I have Knox 0x0, I use FlashFire as my "recovery" and it might be easier for you than finding a working TWRP image (although I am sure ShinySide is more than eager to help you). Then I installed the Xposed APK and had to reboot before it recognized the Xposed ZIP was installed.
After that, most Xposed modules started working for me.

I haven't used flashfire but will look into it. I've already tripped knox a while ago so that's not my prime concern. I want this phone to be encrypted and would like to learn a way to fix on the fly while on vacation (and without a laptop) in the event a catastrophe happens. It seems TWRP may not be removing the crypto footer when I format data as I still get the encryption password prompt.
Seems like flashfire allows you to flash roms from USB? I will need instructions for that.... <pokes around>
::update::
For some reason I thought flashfire was command line driven... I have Mobile Odin and I read that it contains flashfire, something worth looking into.
Is there a way to flash roms using ADB from a usb stick?
(NOTE- I should clarify, is there a way to flash from a command prompt assuming custom recovery is not installed and the phone is soft-bricked).

Your problem is that you were on b360, you should look for stock firmware for your device below b360, maybe b340 or so, and you have to flash back the custom recovery in order to flash the stock firmware, you'll have to use the dload method search for it in the forum guides section of honor 5x, what you did was okay it's called "clean flash"
But since you were on b360 the roms don't boot
Edit: this is the stock recovery for your phone https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/how-to/twrpbackup-stock-recovery-backup-t3523916/

Just an advice, always do a nandroid backup before flashing a ROM in case there's a problem you will be able to restore your backup.
