This is the AT&T Galaxy S II i777 Original Development Section. This is where you will find both stock and custom kernels and firmware/ROMs. If your thread suddenly becomes deleted or locked, thats because this is NOT the General or Q&A section. Again, this section is only for AT&T Galaxy S II kernels/firmware/roms.
Before anything, make sure you real the XDA RULES. These rules go for every forum on XDA and will be enforced. Pay close attention to Rule #1... read it, then read it again. Also be sure to check for other Forum Specific Rules that will be enforced be the Moderators here. We have seen an influx of new users posting and asking how to do this or how to fix this without doing any research for themselves. This has grown very tiresome and is very taxing on the Devs as they strive to not only maintain their current work, but to add updates for all of us. We dont want to tire out the Devs and make them disgruntled, so we all can do our part and search for our answers.
The purpose of this forum is to create, develop and support stock and custom firmware for the i777. Here you will find:
How to Easily Root your device. Or watch the video walkthrough.
How to Flash Custom Binaries Without Ever Incrementing the Flash Counter!!
How to Prepare Your Phone to Return to the Store or for Warranty Replacement. Or how to set your Back To Stock.
How to manually replace modded/stock system files.
But aside from those things, you will find that in each of the threads in this forum have specific instructions on how to flash whatever it is that you want to flash on your phone. Each Dev has created a thread with explicit instructions on what to do and is providing a place for you to come to if you have an issue or need to speak with the Dev.
If you're looking for an updated Rom Index, that can he found here.
Now, dont go taking that as a free invitation to skip all of the reading that is needed to flash successfully and instead just ask "HOW DO I FLASH THIS?" because if you do, you will be warned and your post might be deleted. The Dev's here dont have time to babysit and spoonfeed every member. Thats why they make up a detailed opening post for everyone to read. Remember, your question has more than likely been asked and answered, so please look for your answer first.
*Temporary Notice* Ill have to edit this once it happens, but here shortly we should see another Development forum made specifically for all the Hellraised roms that have been created thanks to Entropy512's Hellraiser Guide which he gives a step-by-step Tutorial on how to do that. Once the new forum is created, all the Hellraised and ported roms will go over there, leaving this just the Original i777 Development section.
I will post all the the themes I have made or ported in this thread.
I have to clean them up before releasing, but I wanted to start a placeholder here. I also started a thread under android/themes for general purposes.
here is the thread I started there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25964212#post25964212
This thread will be specific to the photon, however they may work with other devices as well. until I get everything organized, please see my signature for links to current projects

This goes for mods that you port as well. Permission must be given if you port a rom from another section. This is to prevent the originator from getting upset and there being a flame war between developers. We are all here for fun and as a hobby so lets all be friendly and do the right thing.

To help keep this forum section tidy and easy to use, here are some rules and guidelines.
Only the following topics are allowed in the DEVELOPMENT area:
[DEV] - Development for any projects or Apps.
[ROM] - Custom ROMs.
[KERNEL] - Custom Kernels.
[MOD] - Hack & Modifications for the phone. (See below for more details)
[FIX] - Fixes for known issues & bugs.
[R&D] - Research & Development for Devs only, when gathering data for a new projects.
Note: If you are unsure where your new topic should go, then please post it in General.
For more information on the Original Android Development section check out this portal post
All kinds of Best Rom/Kernel/etc threads are unwelcome, read, research and make your own mind up, as the question is very subjective.
Please Include Screen Shots for ROM / MOD / THEME / Apps & Games, when possible as it's expected by our members.
[MOD]'s that are primarily theming related or simply adjust stock application or framework functionality or behavior belong in the themes and apps section rather than the development section.
Unmodified Stock ROM and Source Codes does not count as a DEVELOPMENT project unless it's part of an active project you have already started, and so should be posted in the general section.
Placeholder threads posted in the development section will be removed or moved.
Howto's and Guides should be posted in the general section.
Password must be provided for all password protected files.
Direct download links preferred, due to stipulations stated in forum rule #11
11. Don’t post with the intention of selling something.
Don’t use XDA to advertise your product or service. Proprietors of for-pay products or services, may use XDA to get feedback, provide beta access, or a free version of their product for XDA users and offer support, but not to post with the intention of selling. This includes promoting sites similar/substantially similar to XDA-Developers.com.
Do not post press releases, announcements, links to trial software, or commercial services. unless you’re posting an exclusive release for XDA-Developers.com.
Encouraging members to participate in forum activities on other phone related sites is prohibited.
Off-site downloads are permitted if the site is non-commercial and does not require registration.
Off-site downloads from sites requiring registration are NOT encouraged but may be permitted if the following conditions are met:
A) the site belongs to a member of XDA-Developers with at least 1500 posts and 2 years membership who actively maintains XDA-Developers' support thread(s) / posts, related to the download,
B) the site is a relatively small personal website without commercial advertising/links (i.e. not a competitor forum-based site with purposes and aims similar to those of XDA-Developers.com.)

Extra emphasis on rule #12
12. Using the work of others.
If you are developing something that is based on the work of another Member, you MUST first seek their permission, and you must give credit to the member whose work you used. If a dispute occurs about who developed / created a piece of work, first try to settle the matter by private message and NOT in open forum. If this fails then you may contact a moderator with clear evidence that the work was created by you.
Convincing evidence will result in copied work being removed. If there is no clear evidence you created the work then in the spirit of sharing all work will remain posted on the forums.
These rules apply to all software posted on XDA unless that software comes with a license that waives these rules.

Please keep all non Development relevant chatter out of development threads, It is recommended to make a separate thread in the Q&A section for non Development related comments and questions, valid replies within a development thread are: BUG Reports, Problem, Troubleshooting Steps & Logs.
... and Please! keep all your personal bickering via PMs, do not pollute the forum with your personal indifferences.
If you have a problem with a specific member please contact the Moderators for help, that's what we're here for, but we are not babysitters, we are here to gather, organize and provide useful information for our over priced phones

Rom OP Format and Thread Title...DEVS READ PLEASE
ROM OP

Below is a format that should be used as an example of how a rom thread should look. It doesnt have to be exact. I suggest that you stay creative and use all the features in the advanced panel when creating a thread.
1. Name of rom, team, etc
2. Introduction
3. Changelog in code or php tags
4. What's included in the rom in the (apps, tweaks, scripts, addons, mods) in code of php tags
5. What works/what doesn't work in code or php tags
6. Credits (Users name-with link to (profile/github/or thread u got tweak from embedded), and what they did to help you)
7. Screenshots (2-10 different screenshots of different aspects of rom)
8. Kernel with either link to thread you got it from or github (if stock sense or cm please state that and that is enough)
9. Instructions on how to install the rom (also if special instruction for a2sd or beats audio...etc)
10. Do's and Don'ts of the rom
11. Questions & Answers section (I find this helpful to write out asked questions with solutions at the bottom of the op. I find that it cuts down on the question being asked a million times)
12. Finally the dl link
13. Additional add-ons (this can go into first post or reserved posts after)

I find the embedded link looks and feels better throughout the op if possible.
All sections should have a header with enlarged text and spaced out so people can read it easily.
I am hoping that this helps to make this section a little cleaner and easier. enjoy
The way I look at this is that it takes US weeks/days/hours to make these roms....we can take the time out to make sure that the op looks professional and clean
Also Make sure the op is fully ready before posting. I know we all get excited to release a rom but stating that half the stuff will be updated as time permits just shows that you are lazy and in a hurry which doesnt look good cause if thats the case then how does your rom run....
No posting a a rom thread without a DL link either
Thank you to Papa Smurf151 for the basis of this post.

FAQ
Q Why a special Q&T Thread for a specific ROM??
A The bigger a ROM development thread gets, the greater the chance that posts are being placed in this thread that are not related to the ROM development itself, e.g. problems with flashing, installation, bugs, things not working etc. However this is understandable, it's not according to the guidelines of XDA for Development sections. Therefore the main goals of the ROM specific Q&T threads is to avoid this cluttering of the original develpment thread with these OT posts by redirecting the posters to the ROM specific Q&T thread and also to relieve the developer from answering these post, so he can dedicate his time to developing.
Q How to move my post to the Q&A/T thread?
A Copy the text of your post in the dev's thread, got to the Q&A/T thread and paste it there. After having done that, go back to the dev's thread, edit your post and change the text into: moved to Q&A/T thread, preferably accompanied with a link to this thread.
Q When I'm asked to move my post to the Q#A/T thread, do I have to do that?
A When you're asked to move your post, there will always be given an explanation by the OP of the Q&A/T, e.g. your post is not development related (f.i. SD card problems, etc), so please be so kind to move your post. If you want to help the dev to keep his original thread as clean as possible from OT posts, then the answer is, of course, YES. Although we cannot force you to move your post, it's highly recommended to do so
Q Where can I download this ROM and How do I install?
A You can find the link to download and installation instructions HERE. Pay close attention to this post, everything required for a successful flash is listed right here. If you fail to follow the instructions or meet the requirements for installation, you could run into some problems.
Q What are the known issues with these ROM's?
A See THE Developer's thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2362863.
Q How’s battery life?
A I see this question asked repeatedly across all ROMS. Honestly there is no way to give you an answer based on a ROM. There are too many variables in question and results vary from user to user and device to device. Battery life is going to depend on age and condition of your battery, your use habits with your device, installed apps, tweaks, settings, etc...
Q How do I...
A Ask your questions and report your issues in this thread. You will receive a response and hopefully get you back up and running this ROM to it's fullest
Explaining the purpose of our Q&A/T threads for specific ROM's to posters.
"Hi dear followers of this ROM,
in this post I will explain the goal of this specific thread created for this ROM with the permission of the Developer of this specific ROM.
This is a statement made in the Q&A/T template thread:
"While our forum has slowly been morphing, the one area we would like to keep original is Development
The goal is to alleviate the OT banter that occurs within any rom. While the XDA forum continues to grow, we need to help users work within the guidelines created by XDA. Over the last couple of years the average rom being created, has become a free for all chat thread. There tends to be much infighting and mod/developer cleaning.
The idea of this template is to create a Questions and Answers for each rom. This is in no way asking for Development to be moved here, rather any and all conversation that is non Development related to your conjoined Q&A."
This means that non-development related posts, should be posted - with the permission of the Dev - in this thread. What are the most common Off Topic posts, that should be posted in this Q&A/T thread?
1. Battery life related posts
2. Will this app work with this ROM
3. SD Card related problems
4. How do I dowmload and install this ROM, etc, etc
Hope to have given you enough information,
kindest regards, Kuzibri
Welcome everyone, to the FireRom Q&A thread! I will make a FAQ here shortly!
