Root Nexus 9, 7.1.1, Build #N9F27F - Nexus 9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I'm just trying to figure out how I can root my Nexus 9 7.1.1 with build #N9F27F. Anyone able to point me in the right direction? All I see are ways to root N4**** builds.
Thanks

Process is the same. Fastboot flash (or fastboot boot if you don't want to install permanently) TWRP, then use it to install SuperSu. I'm running 2.82 and TWRP 3.1.1-0. I also use TWRP to install ElementalX kernel.

So the build number doesn't matter? That was my main concern. All the posts I see about rooting have a specific build number they reference too.

Build number does matter except that you want to use at least the last stable version of your root app. Although, older versions usually work.

Ok, thanks. Got any thread I could follow for this? I'm trying to break down your quick and simple explanation but I'm certain where to go to find the proper how-to.
Thanks

You could use Wug's http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/. The N9 rescue kit (https://support.google.com/nexus/forum/AAAANseOu18dpbPdm4o1jk/?hl=en) also presents all info for setting up ADB and how to flash images.

Install CM10 with TWRP?

Hello!
I just got home with my bright and shiny Note 2. A few things, such as the gray status bar, have made me decide to root and install a custom ROM. This is something I haven't done since the OG Moto Droid. I stupidly accepted the recent OTA without thinking about it, but I found AdamOutler's CASUAL method for getting passed this. The description and video posted to the thread seem very straight forward. When you're done, you have a rooted phone with TWRP installed.
My question is... can you then install CyanogenMod 10 with it? The CM site talks only about using CWM as far as I can see. I just want to make sure I will be able to install it before I follow the CASUAL method.
Thanks

You can install CM 10 with twrp but you will need to install the latest version first (2.4.4.1)

Flash the factory image with fastboot. Backup first.

If you followed the instructions at https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images what was the error or problem?
I guess you'll never get an OTA because LRX21K was never a general release. The other alternative is the "Nexus Root Toolkit" that has a stock restore/upgrade http://www.wugfresh.com/ . You could have issues with LRX21K not being a supported rom so I think at "NRT" start up you should manually set the rom as LRX22C . You can let the package download the new rom or if you have it downloaded you can point the package to the rom when you restore/upgrade.

Bypass Android pay root detection?

So recently i was successful in rooting my device. Well i have heard of root cloak and i installed it from my xposed installer. Im currently running the Sky Dragon stock rom for 5.1.1. And even though I've installed root cloaker and activated and rebooted my device, i added the Android Pay app to the list. I then force closed or stopped the Android Pay app. So it gives me the error about it not being compatible so why or how is it still detecting my root? Is it cause the custom stock rom?

there's a post in p 11/12 of the CM13 thread where someone used a nexus 5x build.prop, unrooted, rebooted, added android pay, then. Re enabled root, and kept android pay functionality.
I did this too, and it worked for me. Even updated to latest nightly and kept functionality. Good luck.

Do a backup/ nandroid first. I screwed up when I first did this and it was a disaster trying to fix it.
1. download his attached build.prop.
2. Backup yours.
3. Replace your build.prop with his.
4. Disable root/unroot.
5. reboot.
6. Open android pay and add your cards.
7. Re-root/enable root, and enjoy.

Does the phone has to be on CM 13 or will it work on stock root?

if you're stock, I think you just need to disable/un root, set up android pay, then re root. Not positive though, been on cm since the day bump was released, and haven't looked back.

Well see im on a stock based rom called SkyDragon so will it work for that?
It might. Nandroid first, and please report back for anyone else who might be following this.
I have the sky Dragon rom with xsposed installed running the 5.1 or whatever their newest one is for. It didn't work

Android 7.0 "Nougat" OFFICIAL - Thread for early adopting and flashing and Discussion
So it appears the Android 7.0 Nougat release day is today after all (8/22/16)...WOOT WOOT
The website is up for the release
https://www.android.com/versions/nougat-7-0/
Reports are that the release will be hitting Nexus devices today, especially our 6P
Let's use this thread for developing findings, factory images, status on TWRP and root, etc etc. TWRP and root should in theory work the same with the N-Preview builds but that may or may not be entirely accurate on my part. I'll add links here as they come in.
When factory images are up they should show up here

We'll need to wait on kernel sources first and that might take a while.

Confused about how to get a ROM on the 5x

Okay, thank you in advance to anyone that can help me with this matter. I've spent the last 4-5 hours reading and I can't seem to figure out what I need to find. Here it goes.
I have a Nexus 6p and a Oneplus 3T. Both are rooted and Rom'd with no problems. I just bought an Honor 5X for my son and I unlocked it, put on TWRP 3.0 and rooted it. The Honor 5x is on the EMUI 3.1/ Android 5.1.1 I downloaded the beanstalk ROM and it failed. Am I missing a step somewhere? Should I be somehow on MM 6.0? or can I just go ahead and flash the beanstalk ROM?
Any help you guys can give me I would greatly appreciate it.

Yeah you need to be on marshmallow firmware, most roms have that listed in the op (beanstalk 7.1 does not though so you get a free pass haha)
My next question is which MM update do I use? I see all kinds available. Does anyone have a link to the right one please? Also will I need to root again after updating to MM?
Thanks.

Update depends on the device. What model do you have?
Generally you will need to return to the stock recovery to take the OTA. Then root again after updating to marshmallow firmware. But again, there are a couple ways to do it properly depending on what you are looking for
I have the L24.

Since you are on stock, you need to flash the OTA. However, I'm pretty sure you need to be in Stock recovery so flash that first and then take the OTA, most likely though the dload method. Odds are the OTA won't show up by itself but it's not a problem, just download the OTA and use the dload method described in @clsA thread
