Best LAOS/AOSP based ROM - Xiaomi Redmi 3 Questions & Answers

Hi, since there are enough alternatives based on LOS/AOSP, which do you consider to offer most added value to Lineage?
Covered to poll only those that appear regularly updated.

CR-Droid version 3.6 with the double tap to wake kernel gets my vote and I have tried a lot of them. I should add that the battery life is excellent in the few days I have been using it. Don't use version 3.7 it has a few bugs.

Why do we need this kind of poll? Lol.
Some corrections:
AospExtended and PureNexus are based on AOSP instead of LineageOS, where your poll title is "Best Android for IDO based on LineageOS."

I know but they still can be better alternative to LOS and still custom ROM similar to LOS

Thanx for suggestion, I'll probably try next build.
Have you experienced any issues with AICP, AOKP or ViperOS?

They are all great roms with different pros and cons. I prefer CR-Droid because it has all the features and customizations I like with great battery life and it's super smooth with a DT2W kernel.

crDroid has one big flaw, it doesn't work together with Xposed framework from PurifyOS (the only working on Nougat atm.)
I tried LineageOS and AICP for now and both can do with Xposed. So my weak vote so far is for AICP.

Excited to try this ROM. If you could release nightly builds with commits from Grarak etc., this ROM would be golden. I'll post soon about my experience with it.

about time that somebody puts and end to that and the worst is that it's not a solution but just a workaround which will keep many people to go for the real thing which is troubleshooting the entire setup. as we all know there a few but as compared to the entire community not THAT many having thouse issues and alone the fact it's always the same group of people hints to an at least part-factor on their side. on guy even posted it works in the office but not at home, that tells it all IMO
Just a heads up that this rom likes to reboot for me when I get a phone call. So that's a thing it does lol

hey guys.,.,this is a great ROM however, is there a work around on how to prolong battery life? It drains too fast in this rom compare to other CM13 roms. Thanks...

My tester didn't face it....But i can assure you that this a commong bug from CM side ( happened after the 6.0.1_r22 merge from cm ) and should be resolved soon.

I can't comment about battery life..But all CM13 roms are based on same cyanogenmod source and hence it can't make a difference ( just that my build has 4-5 features extra over the CM source )
@Santhosh M: Extra features of this ROM looks promising.
Will soon try it on my device.

Priority notifications button
Hi, I've tested this rom the last week and I couldn't adjust the priority states to the positions of the left button. In this rom there's 4 priority states and the button has only 3 positions. In other roms this is adjusted with only alarms, priority only and all. Does anyone know how to adjust this feature in this rom?

I've tested too, it has a lot of bugs and it's smooth until you open 3 apps.
Hi there,
I recommend using Slimsaber 4.4.4 (Kitkat). You can use the latest greekdragon build which has Isorec (Isolated recovery support required for TWRP) in-built with the kernel. It is one of the most stable AOSP ROMs I've tested and battery life is excellent.

Well, our device is old and has low specifications, so it doesn't support great multi tasking, for example: when you are using Facebook and messenger pop up at the same time, it lags very much, after all, it's an old phone, but it's still my favorite

Maybe it depends on the apps installed, for me same apps in 6.0.1 runs smoother in 7.1.1

[Q] Nitrogen vs Resurrection Remix - Which is better for RN3-Kenzo

I am currently on RR 5.8.3 23rd April build. It is working fine but i feel battery backup is less than MIUI, especially xiaomi.eu.
I have heard that battery backup and Camera are better in Nitrogen but customizations are better in RR. Also, as per my experiance RR has proven to be more stable than Nitrogen, although I used Nitrogen a long time ago. Can anyone suggest which one one of these is better for kenzo?
I am trying to avoid MIUI as it is too much buggy, even the stable ROMs.

There's no doubt, A ROM is not good only if it's battery backup is good. If I need a phone only for battery backup, I would go for Nokia 1100.
Only reason im backing off from NOS nd LOS is coz of their frequent updates... Monthly updates are fine with patches...
Btw im using pure nexus with stock kernel... Pretty good battery backup nd performance too...

It's the default theme that comes with Nitrogen OS. If you're talking about the last screenshot, it is EX Kernel Manager app running on dark theme.

I would very appreciate for some recommendation ^^

hello everyone
I just got a redmi note 4 SD 3 days ago, after a year and a half with my Sony Z
I'll be able to unlock bootloader tonight and get a custom ROM running
currently I have these choices : AOSiP, Cardinal AOSP, AICP, FireHound, RR, dotOS
I want a stable rom with balance between performance and battery, good SOT and suit for daily driver
so if anyone can give a recommendation, I would very appreciate ^^
thank you all ^^

You should try out with something stock-ish aosp like los 15.1 . After you've used it for a while, you would be having a basemark in terms of battery life and performance. After that you are free to use whichever rom you want.
And according to me in general los extended by alexey711 has always given me the best battery life. And the performance is just great too.:good:

and yes, I know a lot about LOS back in the days with my Sony Z
but I want a little bit of customization and some small features as well so I didn't put LOS in the list
I just flashed AICP latest build earlier along with ElectraBlue kernel and Magisk, so far so good,no bugs, gonna test for a few more days
again thank you, I'll take a look at your choice when I finishing testing this ROM ^^

It's not just you. Many Launcher3 based apps (e.g. Lawnchair v2, CPL) are laggy. Scrolling is laggy in most cases. I personally stay away from pie roms. They may look like AOSP (Which I personally love) but it's not work for the worse performance even with OC kernel.
I'm sorry for the rant but I'm just pointing out the fact about Pie roms. There's sadly no one working on the source for j5xnlte anymore so currently there are no hopes for improvement for performance. But still if anyone wants to make Pie Roms make them make them I'm not telling anyone to stop.
Sorry for being off topic and I'll try to stay on topic on threads the next time.

It's not just the launcher (I personally don't like quickswitch all top much and isn't an top priority for me.) Even scrolling through settings is laggy, Discord is laggy and keyboard in put (on Gboard) is also delayed. I had the laggy experience since Oreo on this device. I'd love to use pie but I prefer a more "stable" running system like back in AOSP nougat. (e.g. Bluedoggerinos Nougat roms like ViperOS, the LOS 14.1 port by Wizardlysense (I don't remember his current name).
Still I'm not stopping anyone from using it and it's my own personal experience.
P.S. Thanks for the recommendation of Hyperion (I tested it on TW) it's good but I prefer Lawnchair v2.
