I have the V20 and it still technically has $476 on the device payments, but I get a $28/month credit on my account which will pay off the device in the next year and a half. I contacted Verizon directly and asked If I can give the phone to a friend or sell it when I buy the Note 8 and they said Yes as long as the phone keeps getting paid for with the $28/month credit.

Going to be an iPhone 5 or s5 for about $75 and do this. Does it matter if the phone is actually on Verizon or not? Or just a working phone?
Thanks for sharing! I noticed the unlocked version is less expensive than carrier specific. I've never gone the route of unlocked - does anyone know of advantages/ disadvantages of going this route? I'm assuming the updates would come from Samsung rather than carrier but, again, unlocked is foreign to me. Thanks, in advance!

Unlocked meaning you can pop any sim in and it'll work - no carrier bloatware - only samsung's P). No commitments, no contracts.

Hi! How can I help you today?
You
I want to know if the previous Note 7 owners who were forced to turn in their phones for other phones will be allowed to upgrade to the Note 8.
Verizon
Welcome to Verizon Wireless Sales chat! With whom do I have the pleasure of chatting today?
You

Verizon
It's very nice to meet you, Stephen!
Verizon
Any customer can upgrade to the new Note 8!
You
We were told that if we turned in our Note 7 after the whole exploding battery incident that we would be allowed to upgrade when the new one came out. Is that going to be honored?
Verizon
There shouldn't be any issue!
Verizon
Do I have permission to access your account so that I can better assist you?
You
Yes
Verizon
Which line are we wanting to upgrade?
You
(Blanked by me)
Verizon
You are definitely eligible to get the Note 8 however you still have 17 payments left on the current phone.
Verizon
That would go the same as if you still had the Note 7 on your account.
Verizon
You would have to pay off that balance in order to get a new phone.
You
I know that. They told us that wouldnt affect us and they would waive that. So in other wor4ds Verizon lied again. They told us we wouldnt have to do that. I guess I will be changing carriers since I cant trust Verizon to keep their word.
You
I didnt change phones by choice. I was forced by your company to do so. I was assured by verizon that Note 7 owners would be upgraded at no penalty when the Note 8 came out. So you company lied again.
You
As long as we got another Samsung phone we would be able to upgrade at no penalty to us.
You
This is beyond messed up. Now I am stuck with a phone I never wanted in the first place and cant get rid of it.
Verizon
Stephen, you may of very well been told this. Did you hear this over the phone or in store?

Note 7 from all over the world had to be turned in for the safety of citizens!

They even released a press release stating the same thing!

Yeah thats bull****. My phone was never at risk to explode. Never even got warm.
You
Only 35 worldwide exploded and they were all in Korea. None in the US. The oneshere were found to be fraud.
Verizon
I understand you are frustrated. Everyone had to do the same thing!
Verizon
Let me get you that number so you can get in touch with someone who can help.

Do you straight out them these payments or are you getting a monthly credit from Verizon that will pay off your device like I am? I came over from Sprint back in February when they revealed the unlimited plans and it was a promotion where I traded in my Galaxy S7 Edge and I got the LG v20 for free with a monthly $28 credit that will eventually pay off the phone. Yes I did multiple chats online and in my case, I can swap out my line with the Note 8 and still get the account credits. I even asked if I could "lend my phone to a friend" and they could use the V20 on their account (I'll be sending it to Samsung to fulfill the $425 off obviously) and he said yes that's not a problem because the installment plans don't put locks on the phones. Here's some text of a chat I had earlier.
Verizon
To give you a reference that your device payment credit will continue please keep this agreement number: XXXXXXXXX. This agreement is based on the active line where you device was linked to. Now, just as long as the line is active, regardless you'll use a different device and just as long you will not pay off the DPA (device payment agreement), the credit will continue.
You
Thank you! I have a few more questions.
Verizon
Yes, what questions do you still have while you have me?
You
Can I lend the LG V20 to a friend of mine, since I will no longer be using it?
You
And he can use it on his account?
Verizon
Yes absolutely he can use it on his own account. As long as the device payment will be fulfilled in 24 months, there will be no problem.
Verizon
Yes you are correct
What sucks is I had to give back my note 7 twice and I am using a note 3 there not going to give me anything for it lol

They can give you $425. They told me to place the order and then give them a call and provide them your order them. They will note the order that you will be sending a note 3. As a precaution I paid with my Amex so if they try to screw me I will file a dispute. I'm not going to trade in my S8 Plus

I wonder how I could dispute an issue with Samsung financing...I wanted the 0% instead of my 10% credit card. I don't think they will have issues unless the trade in is in poor condition.
btw, there are folks buying note 7's for 300-400 on craigslist. apparently, samsung is quietly buying them back. i'm meeting a guy in a place with cameras tomorrow to sell mine for 380.
i kept mine - i said bugger off to all those stupid letters and boxes.
and for all those folks who told me i was wrong for ignoring the harassing letters from verizon/samsung: pffft!
i have been using it as a really cool wifi tablet and now it's become my personal trade-in program for the note 8 i just pre-ordered from best buy.

I got the deal you wanted, let me give you some advice.
It's about three things. One, don't use chat. Chat is impersonal and doesn't allow you to convey appropriate tone. Two, don't get rude or verbally aggressive. Three, you need a strong account. By that I mean like I have been toting a 250-350 monthly bill with Verizon for over 8 years with a good payment history as well.
After a good hour on the phone, and being told multiple times that I would have to pay off the 500 bucks still owed on the S7Edge I never wanted... and politely explaining that I needed someone to speak to that can work outside the usual box of rules they work within.... I finally got transferred to a supervisor who looked at the account, and said okay, I can make this right. He forced the contract as paid in full which pushed that 500 bucks onto my bill, then immediately went in and issued a credit for the same amount. This made my S7Edge paid for in full so I could not only upgrade early but get the same promotion as every Joe off the street that never went through 5 phones during the Note 7 fiasco. So I got it half price still like everyone else. It will be here tomorrow.
That was the kicker I think. I simply explained that if they had A. returned my old paid for Nexus 6 to me (which they said they couldn't do) or if I had the Note 7 still (which had the annual upgrade available), they would have exchanged it for a Note 8 right away no questions asked. So I simply said, I just wanted them to honor the annual upgrade I was entitled to beginning August 2016 when I agreed to purchase the preordered Note 7. They didn't have to pay off the 500 bucks on the S7Edge. But I promise you my approach combined with my logic and my account strength made it happen.
They even added 12gb to our data plan. The supervisor also personally called me the next day to confirm the transaction went smoothly and to be sure I was happy. I have never received that level of customer service from any company. It was truly refreshing.

Now that's a shame! I too ignored everybody and kept my Note 7, it takes a full charge thanks to software blocking the charging update that makes it a brick. Also, as predicted, T-Mobile was not able to cut us off if you were paying your bill, so I've had full service this whole time. I, however, won't be selling this to anyone, it's going back to Samsung for a full refund! There is no expiration date on that recall! That's $850.00+ and use of a free phone for a whole year! I'll use an iPhone 5 to get the Note 7 owners discount.

After this I waited until the next day an called. I told the nice young lady what the situation was and she put me on hold. She came back and told me that I would still have to pay off the phone. I told her that would not be financially feasible because I owed $586 on that phone and I pay $521 a month on my bill every month (Have Me. my mom, my son and my wife on my account plus a few other devices). I told her that if I would be required to do that then I would explore my options of going to another company and having them pay off all of my stuff and then I would only have to worry about getting the phone. She put me on hold again for about 7 minutes and when she came back she told me that they were going to pay off the remainder of my phone. Problem solved.

Premiere Business Acct
The goal here is to NOT have agents run around looking for answers on how to go about. YOUR CHANCES ARE 10X BETTER if you request nicely to even accept a credit on your acct for a $150.00
Reason Being; Agents mostly have the power to do that instanty.
Also marks an easy, instant customer satisfaction score call.
STEER them to ATG&T.com
Let them know the phone is offerred for 50% off. Its tyhe first phone featured clearly on the sales page.
You will get a run around. I was transferred about 4x.
Until one agent said no prob.
Good Luck!
Where is the link to this page?
Did you call Premier or Business Care (611)?
Yes ..I contacted Premeir as they are the ones who ordered the phone for me.
Throw that option out foremost when speaking to an agent; about credit your bill.
Make it light & easy for them. You will indeed get it done along the line somewhere.
Premier DEFINETLY has all the power to instanly issue an immediate credit!
How we know if we premier?

Discounted price shows up after you 'add to cart'
I just did the same, my upgrade was pre ordered through Premier online on 2/5/12.
Called 611, told them about my recent purchase and obvious disappointment in the rapid price drop of my new device - and that I'd like a credit to reflect the difference. They asked what I paid, how much it's selling for on AT&T.com and proceeded to issue a "one time only exception" credit to my account. Done deal, had to be on silent hold for a bit and the CSR confirmed the credit was applied to my account...$155 positive credit on my account since they were nice enough to credit me the tax =P
All worth it for a $150 Galaxy Note!
This does not apply to upgrades they said, it is only if you added a line or opened a new line. I guess being a loyal customer for so many years means nothing if you are not new business.
help! quickly!
I'm trying to get a 150 credit, but theyre saying that since i bought it in the store, i would have to return it to the best buy and then go online and buy it at the discounted price.
im telling them that i ported my number over from sprint and what would i do with my number if i brought the phone back but shes saying that theres nothing she can do!!!....
im asking for a superviser.. can somone help..
I too got the $150 credit but in a different way. I upgraded and have a premier acct.
I did not call but rather went to the local ATT store. I had my original G-Note invoice and a copy of the ATT checkout shopping cart showing the 50% discount on a new order for a G-Note. I indicated that this wasn't right after less than 1 week and that I really didn't want the hassle of returning the phone and ordering a replacement at the discounted price.
I was very nice throughout and even commiserated with the woman helping me because she was shuttled around to 4 different parties within the internal ATT web order service center over a 20 minute period.
Eventually she just got her manager who explained to me that they were not going to be able to get it resolved with the on-line folks and simply issued my account a $150 credit.

That's what I'm worried is going to happen if I try
I got a $75 credit for not getting my Note on time. I will stay happy with that and not get greedy. $225 for the Galaxy Note is still a great deal, seeing as I paid $249 for my SkyRocket.
But good luck to those who try getting this credit
I'm ordering mine today, this wont work for regular upgrade right?

I just called att the second time today and WOW! $250 credit from my sky rocket and note! Although the rep said it needs to be approved since it was a big credit refund and takes about 4-5 business days before it reflects my account. Hopefully I will get my refund back. Btw, premiere account here also, both phones are upgrade.

Simple and painless $150.00 credit!
Wow this worked for me right away without hiccups. Around a 10 minute phone call with ATT CSR (nice lady). I just told her that I purchased the Note 2-days ago for 299.99 and today I've seen the 50% promo that drops the price to 149.99, and If if I can receive a credit for the difference. She said "please hold on sir", came back and advised me that she can issue a one-time credit for 150.00 back to my account with no questions asked and without confirming I had actually purchased the Note, at all! I actually purchased through AmazonWireless (they refused any price matching or adjustments unless the price drops on their site in the near future).
I was not being stern or sounding angry. Just professional.
I am premier and the phone was an upgrade through Amazon Wireless @$249.95
I dialed 611 and got connected to Enterprise CSR without any transfer to other CSR's!
Thanks to OP for this advise! And am happy with my SGN (ceramic white) for $100 plus 2-year extended contract of course and additional 181 day EFT @Amazon Wireless

I called 611 the other day to see if they could match a different 50% offer that was found online...they quickly said no because it was a promo for add a line or new customers. Quick history lesson, i bought an infuse last year under upgrade, its been replaced 5 times. I got real fed up and told them I'd cancel unless they replaced it with a different device, they said they could not do that but they would however allow my 2nd line to upgrade some 8 months early. I called 611 a few days ago to get everything in order when they told me because of my situation i need to upgrade that line directly thru them which meant i couldnt purchace at my local retail store (drag) so today i called 611 to place my order and i referenced this new 50% deal, he said i most likely wouldn't qualify...i said whatever that's fine. As we were about to close the deal over the phone he told me that he can't process the upgrade cuz his system is under maintenance and to call back tomorrow. I called back in 5 minutes and started over. I again mentioned the promo than they transferred me to premier. The lady had no problem giving me the 50% off plus free priority shipping plus free activation. Had i ordered yesterday or even earlier today when the first dude had system problems i would have paid 299+15 shipping and 30 activation fee, i ended up paying $157 all said in done. Pretty nice savings if you ask me.

Is this applicable if there is already an exisiting FAMILY plan, then you add a NEW contract/number to that family plan?
I was charged $299 at bestbuy but I can still return/cancel the plan, then buy it on AT&T again then get 50% off.
Anyone?
I looked at every blog and cant find a straight answer. So if I am due for a phone upgrade...With Sprint one up plan i can get the note 3 for 0 down "no money upfront" and makes payments each bill cycle? At the end of owning the phone 1 yr i can do get another phone again with 0 down?
I'm in a similar situation, I want to swap the note 3 after a year or 6 months to get triband lte (I'm in a wimax area).
Currently on a family unlimited plan but wondering if I can do the jump program for a year.

I am doing the One Up on Friday to go from Note 2 to the Note 3. You have to pay sales tax on the full retail price of the phone up front then you start your monthly payments. After 12 months you can use the One Up again on that line to get another new phone. This way actually saves me money. If the price is $699.99 then I will be paying about $58 on tax and then right at $30 per month. So one year of payments would be $350 then I could start all over again with the Note 4. Since I usually buy a phone at full price when I am in the middle of a 24 month contract, the One Up program is going to end up being cheaper for me.

I called my local store about this. The thing that I think people miss about it is that you cannot upgrade to the next phone (in your case Note 4) until you have completely paid off your Note 3. So a year in you still have to pay another $439, assuming they put retail at $799. Also I am pretty sure that at that time you surrender your old device to them meaning the argument about picking up the difference via a private party sale is out the window too. Then you'll have to put a down payment to get your Note 4 on top of that since the no down payment option is only a limited time deal! For that reason I'm not jumping into the One UP at this time...
I was told by my local store that it works the way I described. That is the whole point of the One Up program. To allow customers to upgradeevery year. One of the social care people on sprints forums even states " you will be eligible for a new phone after we recieve 12 payments for the phone"
I would go in the store and ask or call a different store.

Yes you are eligible that is true but you are still due 24 months payments, meaning if you have remaining balance on your phone you have to pay that! If I'm wrong someone show me some official documentation because I can't find it.

That doesn't make sense from what they told you. How is it a one up program if i don't get a device each yr. The limited time yes is for 0 down but you have to be able to get a new device in a yr to call it One Up. Otherwise I would just pay $350 for device up front and get another device in 2 yrs vs paying full price. From what i heard you don't own the device and you are turning it back in, hence the reason you are not paying full price and allowed to upgrade in a yr.
Sprint is really going down hill with the softbank merger. Confusing everyone even their employees.
We have had one statement from Sprint only saying it will be release Oct 4th. No promotion or anything. The one up hasn't been fully vetted and its live and active. This is crazy!
Exactly it's like they are trying to copy the auto industry and develop a phone "lease" program. I love the thought of early upgrades (R.I.P. Gold member program) however I was told that you have to pay the remaining payments before you can upgrade to your next phone. Would love for this to be wrong but need someone to find some actual proof from the sprint either way.

That would be the same as current plans...If i wanted to upgrade to a new phone from Note 2 in less then a yr i just pay the early termination. After a yr on contract the termination would be less then $200. So if i paid $300 to get the device and $200 to cancel contract that's only $500. Still $200- $300 shy of original price. As this wouldn't make any sense i am sure One Up has to be cheaper in the fact of getting a new device each yr.

I just now called customer care and asked them. I explained to the rep (Kelly) what I was planning and asked about the remaining 12 months of payment if I One Uped again in 12 months. Kelly put me on hold while she looked into it and she came back and said that after 12 months of payment I could do the one up again. I asked again to clarify that they remaining 12 months of payments went away and she said yes as long as you turn in the phone.

Yea that's what i figured. That's the only way this plan could work lol. Im still upset that sprint has not made a bigger effort to explain this. Its like they don't want anyone to know they are doing 0 down. Maybe after 0 down ends they will start advertising.

Don't forget the $15 per month discount that you get off your bill for as long as your in the one up program. With that your essentially only paying 15 per month for the phone.
Say if you were to upgrade to the Note 4 at year one, do you own the Note 4 at year 2 after completing 24 payments?
If that is true, One up makes a lot of sense because you could then sell the Note 4 that you upgraded to for more cash at year 2 than a Note 3 you would have had to kept for two years with the standard subsidized route.
Yea, my upgrade isn't until January, they want me to give them my "one" to switch to one up and get the note 3. Eff that. I'll probably just switch to AT&T. They tried to switch me to customer retention but I was on hold a good 15 minutes and I had to go to work . I don't mind giving up the note 3 in 12 months while on the new plan, but I'm not giving them a phone I just paid full price for.

There is alot of confusion on the one up program but you pay 12 months on a phone and then if u want to upgrade again you have to hand tje phone over and start paying on another. That's hiw tje other 12 payments are gone. It's a cool idea that I'm gonna take advantage of. Plus the 15 off the monthly bill is awesome. So it would only be about 15 extra to get the note 3.

I'm in a similar situation. I pre-ordered the Evo LTE, so I can't do a standard upgrade until 1-1-14. Shortly after receiving my pre-ordered black Evo LTE, Sprint announced the white Evo LTE and I bought it at retail. Around May of this year I bought a Note 2 at retail. Even though I'm still in contract, the active device on my line is not what I bought at contract price. After talking with 3 reps at 611 and 2 reps at 2 different local stores, I was getting mixed responses about whether or not I'd have to trade in a phone to start the One Up program. I finally called 611 again and asked a rep then had her verify it with her manager. She told me that I do NOT have to trade in any phone to start the One Up program since my active device wasn't purchased at contract price and because it had been over a year. I had her put notes on my account saying that I do NOT have to trade in a phone to get the Note 3 Friday morning and begin the One Up program! I still have my black Evo LTE and white Evo LTE, so I'm going to take my black LTE with me just to be safe in case they do require me to trade it in. I could sell it on ebay for $150-200, but to me it would be worth paying that to upgrade early during the Note 3 release. Hopefully they'll expect nothing from me except taxes on the Note 3, and I'll be good to go. I can let ya know for sure in just under 8 hours when my local Sprint store opens up. I will be there at 10am when they open to get me a white Note 3!!! Hoping that all goes smoothly!!

I'm either gonna convince them to let me start the program without trading in my "One" or I'm gonna go give At&t a try for a while. I've been on the fence about leaving anyway, I'm ready for 4g. Sprint is not only making me pay 50$ than anyone for the Note, and now they want my phone that I didn't even get from them? Heck no

It can be almost any phone. Upgraded to the s3 when it came out for my original upgrade. Switched to note 2 midway through contract. Upgrade I was scheduled for was feb 2014. Activated my old evo and turned that in for the note 3 this morning.

Be prepared to wait if you're getting the Note 3 on the One Up program! I was the only customer in the store and had to wait 1.5 hours for them to finally get it to go through for me! They even called Sprint and confirmed that everyone is having problems with it this morning. They told me that no over else has got it to work yet, but I was willing to wait all day, lol. Just be patient though, they eventually got it for me!!

So I put in a pre order a few weeks back for the Note 3 online using Edge. Last Monday Verizon tried to charge my bank for the pre order and my bank held the funds as fraud for some reason (Because I paid my bill 2 days before probably). When I called in on Tuesday to have them resubmit and told my bank to clear it they pushed my preorder back and told me it would not ship out until Monday 10/14. So I canceled my preorder (Even though I already agreed to edge contract online) and went to store on Thursday.
They could not process my order because they said that I was already under an Edge contract. I've been dealing with customer service managers and tech support for the past 3 days trying to get the edge agreement cleared off my account but it's saying I owe $630+ on my edge contract for a phone I never got. Ugh anybody have any ideas what I need to do? I've done everything I can think of except call the corporate office which I plan on doing Monday if it's not fixed by then.
Long story short: There is a glitch in Verizon's system if you agree to the edge contract online on a pre-order then cancel the pre-order your edge contract sticks and Verizon still think you owe them even though you never got any merchandise.
I definitely didn't fall for that trap. You will end up paying for more just because you are paying for full pricE by the two year term

the magic term when dealing with telecom companies... "I want to escalate." Get a supervisor... and if you're not getting satisfaction, escalate on them. Everyone has a boss. Keep going up the food chain until you get satisfaction.
Man. That sucks. Just keep calling man. That's all you can do.
I had a similar problem with T-Mobile and till this day Since 2007. I still owe them. That whole situation sucked ass. Just like this one.

Unfortunately I have escalated up as far as possible on the weekend . The problem is that there is an issue with their system because Edge is so new and apparently I'm the first person to have this issue and not a single person has seen this issue ever before. The edge agreement is still showing active even though the pre order was cancelled.
They said that upper tier corporate IT will have to fix it tomorrow and that the corporate finance department will have to fix the money problem showing that I owe $633 for a phone I never got.
Same EXACT problem for me! Cancelled pre-order, Edge contract still tied to line. Cannot get the damned thing reversed. Can't get a phone. Call every day and they're working on it. I'm happy to give them money for a phone. Can't get ANYTHING now. Their system is horribly broken.
Unfortunately when you call into VZW and go through the prompts, most of the prompts that are customer service based go to an Outsource call center that only has the capability to answer limited general knowledge questions, and make small changes to the account. What you have to do to bypass that is to NOT choose a customer service issue on the automated system (Bill Payment, Features, Plans, Accessories, etc...) ALWAYS choose Technical Support. If you choose Technical Support you're routed to an internal VZW call center because the outsource isn't good at handling tier 1 technical support issues. Once you get a real VZW rep on the line tell them you don't want to speak to their Team Lead or a rep taking escalated calls for the supervisors. You either want to talk to a Supervisor or an Associate Director. If that doesn't help ask for Executive Relations. In a case where I've exhausted all my over the phone options and spoke to 1-2 sups and still didn't get anywhere I'll email the executive relations team. They always reply back to me within 48 hours and I've never had a problem with them. Their job is to be the last line of defense and do almost anything to keep the customer from wanting to escalate further.

I ended up calling the Executive office and have them working on it. They have no idea how to fix it in the corporate office and are completely stumped. So annoying.
I had a problem with a brand new tablet that got stolen. The store rep didn't add insurance on it when I got it and he even admitted to it. Supposedly they have to go into another site after the transaction to add it. Well long story short Verizon or the ins wouldn't cover it and wanted to charge me $350 for cancelation. The rep on the phone said he couldn't do anything at all. I asked for a supervisor and then he apologized and said he could make it a dummy line and me pay$10 a month. I told them this wasn't my fault that the ins didn't get added and that every phone I've ever owned has had ins. We went on and on till I asked his name and I'D # then told him my attorney would be contacting them he put me on hold for about 2 mins then said they would drop the line and not charge me.

I'm still stuck in the same boat myself. I've been talking to the executive office everyday and they still can't figure it out as of today. My monthly edge payment did show up on my bill that's due in a couple of weeks but they waived it. They have already promised me the world once this is resolved. We'll see about that...
I honestly don't know what else to do from here except cancel Verizon and have a lawyer clear the contract cancellation fees, but at the same time 2 of my 4 lines are grandfathered with unlimited data and I'd hate to lose that going anywhere else. Dammed if I do, dammed if I don't. Let me know once you get yours resolved Rico.

This is a little bit off topic, but for those that do plan to use Edge, you do not have the choice to pay more on your phone per month. You must either pay the normal monthly amount, or pay the 50% to upgrade, or 100% to close it out.

Executive care isn't what it use to be. They use to be able to do everything. I am working with executive care on a different issue and they are sorta useless. The plus side of working with executive care is they waive a lot of fee's and charges. I got both my upgrade fee's waived but it doesn't quite help when the phones you have are on their last legs and they won't ship your new phones.

Thanks. I'll give that a shot. Next bill just posted. They swore up and down that I wouldn't be billed for the now cancelled Edge contract. The bill detail isn't available, but judging by the amount, they're billing me for the contract anyway.
If it weren't for the coverage, I'd be back on T-Mobile in a heartbeat.

Ok Mods if this needs moved then do so :good:
Ok so we all know that the signal sucks on the Note 3 for some. I recently moved and contacted Verizon several times regarding the signal and tier 2 "sent" a technician out. Ive constantly been running -111 to -115dbms. Well after talking about the signal issues trying to get a replacement the tech said she hadnt heard about issues so she would do research and she then said that 10 days ago Samsung sent Verizon a replacement statement telling them that if customers are having signal issues on the Note 3 to replace it with a Note 3 or S5. They will allow you to try the Note 3 1st and if that doesnt work they will send a S5. She said that it has more than a 2% data or traffic loss or something like that. She said it was the 1st time she heard of it or saw the memo. So I am now waiting for my replacement Note 3 to come tomorrow.
UPDATE: So I got my replacement phone and it came with NC4 out the box. My signal is WAY better. My dbm now fluctuates between -89 and -94dbm.

What do you think the process is for us to go through for replacement? Did you think through a Verizon store or do you think you have to actually have a tech come out?

Well I had already called them before about it several times. After seeing the other thread where people had gotten better signal I figured Id try and get a replacement. Once she told me about Verizon getting a authorization from Samsung themselves to replace the Note 3 with another Note 3 or S5 I thought Id post this for information. Id call them then when they bump you up to tier 2 explain you are having signal issues etc and ask for a replacement. Remember she didnt even know about it until she searched and she said they got that memo 10 days ago so they all may not be up on it yet. Good luck!
Still a "like new" replacement?
Somewhat related, my old Note 3 (NC2) screen shattered and I got an insurance replacement Note 3 w/ NC4 on it and the signal is exactly the same. Strong, but same.
From note 3 to note 4
So after calling Big Red about my note 3 they sent me out a replacement the replacement had the same issue a bad data connection, so I quickly sent it back within 24 hour a Verizon's tech informed me that samsung has admitted that the note 3 has the issue of data connection problems and said I could have a galaxy S5 but the tech advised me and said if I was him I should wait for the note 4 because of samsungs 3 rules replacement, how it works is as long as you are under there 1year warrenty after 3 attempts of repair they have to give you a phone that is similar to what you have and so I would get the note 4 but just remember you have to deal with samsung not Big Red for your replacement phone and you have to have sent it to them for all of your 3 repairs good luck to anyone that is having the same issue with this pos phone. P.s.almost forgot the first replacement phone they sent me was a galaxy S5 so it is true samsung did notify Big Red about the data problem in took all blame on the note 3 issue.
going to call during lunch then
tech 2 guy I got said there was no replacement program giving an S5 for data connection issues, but alluded that if my issue was dropped calls AND data then I could get the S5
either way I didn't want an S5 I wanted a replacement 3 and that is what I got
I wonder if I could convince them to let me "downgrade" to the Note 2 due to the ability to bootloader unlock. My signal typically hovers around if I'm lucky -105dB most of the day and it dips to -120dB at times too. My Note 3 is from right around launch day as well.
I would like to do this as my note 3 has had terrible reception in my home. No other phone has been this bad in my home. Now you mentioned going through Samsung for the replacement. So I shouldn't call Verizon?
I'm currently rooted so should I restore to stock before I call?
Any other tips to insure I get a note 4 in exchange?

Oh boy my time to shine. I am one of the "tier 2" tech reps (It's just tech support, customer service acts as "tier 1" tech support when normal tech has a queue but otherwise its just 1 actual tech department for phones and such). So this replacement process is valid and is in one of our not commonly used device forums that shows that if you are dropping data 3% or higher OR you are dropping calls 3% or higher and there are some other criteria met you can get an S5 as a replacement, personally I wouldn't want an S5 but if you do want an S5 you'll have to call in and have a replacement done at least once to ensure it just wasn't one bad note 3. The S5 order has to be done as a COMPLETE manager override due to the way the system works so you might get push back on it by the reps but if you say "look in the device forums for the note 3" there is a PINNED article on this issue and if they are still idiots ask to speak with a supervisor. Anyways as far as any other replacement goes to the note 4 or note 2 as another rep mentioned, verizon will NOT do that at all, we USED to have the ability to do alternate CLNRs (Certified Like New Replacement, these are all of the warranty phones, most are good some are junk I will admit) but due to posts such as these online people were abusing it so it is removed, now when a rep does the order we select what the problem device is and it checks to see if we have stock, if we do, thats what you get, the field is completely greyed out and we cant touch it and a supervisor will not do **** to help you with that. Even if you say you will pay extra money or even opt to downgrade it will not be done, this note 3 to s5 program is very unique. Anyways as far as going with samsung, thats a completely different ball game, we have no access to their systems and the rep may have just straight lied to you about samsung changing you to a note 4 just so that he could pass the survey that you might get. And if the phone is over 1 year old samsung will tell you to go through verizon as the extended warranty that you either pay $3, $8, or $10 / month for is verizon only. Also when dealing with samsung you will have to send your phone to them and they attempt a repair before they give you a replacement, so good ****ing luck on that. As far as sending techs goes, we have an escalation process for any network issues where we fill out the address and problem and such and send it to people who actually manager cell towers but 90% of the time they just do a remote check on all the towers in the area and if they show as ok they tell you that you're in a "marginal coverage" area which means the service may be bad, this does qualify you to cancel any lines in that area with no ETF though so if you're really pissed feel free to do that. Feel free to either reply here or private message me any questions about any verizon tech support policies or whatever
Thanks for this. I've been dealing with a subpar signal from this phone for many months. You're information was extremely helpful and saved me time with Verizon tech support.

My new "replacement" phone is on it's way and i'm waiting to get the towers checked in my area. i think i'm gonna record the conversation. Is there a link or point of reference i can use in our contracts that says we can get out of our etfs? And after i'm told that i live in a marginal area, who gives the ok for the ETF being waived? Escalations?i'm gonna have to ask for a note to be added/pinned to my account regarding the ETF also huh?? Thanks alot!

For starters if you record it make sure not to say so because reps aren't allowed to let you record. The only department that can see that ticket and apply credits is tech support so they are the only people who can credit it, no special escalation needed just the normal rep, if you port out your number though you have to have the ETF applied to the account by the porting center then call tech support right after the port request starts to have them waive it.

I've had some issues with my LG G3. So are you saying that even after several replacement G3's, there is no chance that Verizon would send me a different phone(like the Note 4)? I have insurance if that matters. Thanks!
Anyone know if we are still eligible for the $200 credit for upgrading even if we're in an old plan that gives us discounted pricing? Last time around for the Note edge wasn't required. I've gotten conflicting answers from chat.

I heard you have to sign a new two year agreement or add a new line.

That's what I've heard too. Upgraded a line and in the past its counted. Here goes nothing.
They are offering a 200 bill credit or VZW gift card if you trade in any working smartphone. We had to trade in our phones to upgrade because they were under an edge agreement and were not completely paid off. They only give you the credit if you trade in a working paid for smartphone.
Sweet! Thanks for the helpful information.
Also won't work if you are trying to pay full list in order to keep your Unlimited, as I certainly want to. I was told you have to go with one of the new plans at a Verizon store, but who knows how truthful or knowledgeable the rep was
Pulled an original Verizon Droid out of the drawer for a tasty 200 credit today!
My girlfriend and I just switched to Verizon with this deal. From what the rep. said, it's ending on the 31st. At least here on the east coast. Figured I'd throw that in.
The promotion I am talking about is good until Sept 20th according to the rep I spoke to.

The rep you spoke to was probably trying to close a deal quickly. Deal is still up on their website as well. Also, Best Buy is also offering a similar $200 offer with their one gift card when you trade in a phone, plus you get a free wireless charger. (You can use that gift card towards the phone as well.)
I usually get my phones from Best Buy because if you end up not liking the phone for some reason, there's no restocking fee if you return within the 13 days they give you.
We turned in an old Droid X and a Droid Incredible the other day and got 400 instant bill credit. Man that was sweet.
Just got mine today and they still had the deal. Although, because of some system issues, it went towards my bill and not the down payment

It should of when to the down payment, the only thing the trade in shouldn't of paid was the taxes. I was in verizon getting my phone and they tried to pull this on me, and three others while on the store. I went to the GM and asked why they were all making the same mistake, cause it was the exact same mistake (miss quoting the final price, saying they can't return the trade ins and they will put it on the bill) I asked if they were being trained this way, since it was scamming the customer. He got angry and said, I just follow orders and walked off. Vzw Corp is having agents screw this up on purpose, don't stand for it.
