Android OS keeping tablet awake? - Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Questions & Answers

Is anyone else running into this problem? I had installed T-Mobile DIGITS and ever since then the android OS keeps the tablet awake when the screen is off. I have since uninstalled the app and factory reset the tablet 3 times and android OS is still keeping the tablet awake even without DIGITS being installed. I am not sure what to do anymore. Can anyone help?

Nothing to do with digits, this a known bug with the tablet wifi chip or software.Only solution is to set wifi disabled during sleep and hope samsung fixes it soon.Check out my posts here on this and the us samsung support forums.

[Q] Does the SII have the nasty WiFi->3G-Bug #2207?

Hi,
I'm considering an SII but want to know something first:
I currently have a Desire and is has a very annoying bug (many people are affected but only a few know about this). It's an official Android bug and has the number #2207.
This is how the bug affects me:
1. Device is connected to 3G.
2. Connect device to WiFi. 3G data connection closes as usual.
3. Connect device to charger (Policies: WiFi always on/WiFi always on while charging).
4. Charge it for more than 3 hours (most likely over night).
5. In the morning, disconnect the device from the charger & put it in your pocket (WiFi still on).
6. Leave the WiFi-radius.
7. Now the problem is: 3G data won't turn on. If you switch the display on (e.g. 15 minutes after leaving the WiFi-radius) there's still the WiFi-icon on the screen. A few seconds after that, it vanishes but the 3G-icon does not show up. In fact, the whole time between leaving the WiFi and now, there was no data connection anymore.
Solution: Reboot or Airplanemode On/Off
This is so annoying!
BTW: It is important that you have to charge it (without waking the display) for more than 3 hours for the bug to appear.
I don't know exactly why I have this bug but several other people (having other devices an ROMs) have it too. There's even a fix on the Android Market (WifiFixerFree) that kinda works... but it's very sad that Android has such a critical bug until now.
My question: Does the SII have this bug? Maybe someone with an identical WiFi-charging-behaviour as me can answer this?
Thanks!
Nobody? 10chars
Never heard that one before on SGS 1 nor 2 .

I can confirm that at least my sgs2 turns the mobile data properly on when i leave my wifi-range in the morning.

I can confirm that there is a bug with the wifi after you plug in the phone to charge.
Okay... contradicting opinions. Anyone else?
Switches fine for me when driving away in the morning and it did on my HTC Desire too.

[Q] Verizon Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE ICS

I have been searching through the two or three threads of ICS ROMs that support the Verizon LTE Tab. Unfortunately I am unable to find an answer if any of the ROMs once installed will retain mobile network functionality 3G/4G. If I flash any of these ICS ROMs am I turning my Tablet in to basically a Wifi-only tablet?
Thank you.
No modem support yet for our Verizon versions of the tablet so yes essentially you will turn the tab into a wifi one without working cameras as well.
Thank you very much.

What do us Verizon tablet owners do about the modem then? My tablet continues to be plagued by cell standby problems and I am running the latest version of CM10 nightly 2012.11.19. If I toggle the tablet into airplane mode and turn the wifi on, the battery status still shows that the cell is on and drains the battery very quickly.
When I've tried to flash the p4wifi version it fails out.
Is there anything I can do to get this cell standby problem fixed?

Probably would have been more appropriate to start a new thread than hijack this one. This thread was looking to find if any ICS based ROMs supported the SCH-i905 back in April of 2012. Fast forward to now and your issue is battery drain on CM10 which now supports the SCH-i905.
NEVER flash other versions, stick with versions specifically built for the SCH-i905 if that's your device. Flashing other things can yield to a bricked tab.
To answer your question; not completely no. Simple answer isnt it. And yes it sucks big time. Wakelocks on CM10 are a big issue for various devices and coupled with LTE causes major battery drain for multiple devices. All that can be done at the user level for now is to minimize wakelock issues manually by developing the habit of turning off various things when not in use prior to putting the tab to sleep. It's a pain in the butt but your alternative is to go back to stock touchwiz ICS if you wish.
What I've done is created TB shortcuts on desktop to disable maps and talk . . a secure settings toggle shortcut to turn off location services . . and developed a habit of turning on airplane mode prior to putting the tablet away. I've installed better battery stats to monitor application processes and identified wakelock crazy apps like Facebook etc. and uninstalled them.
This maximizes battery life but it doesn't always result in the tablet going into deep sleep consistently. Often times after a period of heavy use there will be various applications cached on the tab and it will fail to enter deep sleep when left in standby. So, if I know I'm going to be putting the tablet away while not plugged in for an extended period I find it best to do all those things outlined above and then reboot the tab. This clears out all cached applications and results in the tab deep sleeping for hours on end.
I've tried automating these things using Tasker but that application hasn't been playing nice with CM10 for me and often times my airplane mode script would run during use of the tab even though the script should have only run when the tab was on standby for more than 10 minutes.
For now I've disabled tasker and I just manage the tab manually.

[Q] WIFI crashes when waking HTC One from sleep.

I have noticed in the last few days that my new HTC One is not waking from sleep with WIFI functionality. When it wakes, the WIFI symbol in the notifications tray is gone. When I go to settings, And look at the WIFI option, It says that it is disconnected. When I touch to configure the WIFI settings, the settings app hangs on a black screen. I have to reboot my phone to get the WIFI back. Is anyone else having this issue?
Phone Model: HTC One
Router Model: ASUS RT-N66R / RT-N66U
Frequency: 5ghz
I am now testing in the 2.4ghz frequency and will report back my findings.
I can confirm that I don't experience this issue with 2.4ghz. No drops in 4 days. When I switched back to 5ghz on the 5th day, I got the drop and freeze within the hour.

I'm having the same issue. Can't tell what frequency band it's on when it happens though sorry.
I am having the exact same issue. It coincided with installation of an app called mute-o-matic in my case. I was wondering if the crash is related to the installation of this app. Could any one experiencing this crash comment on this?
[Update] It has happened 3 times in the last week. Wifi function just locked up, and had to restart phone to fix. Very frustrating. It's reasons like this that is driving me back to iOS. All the amount of tweaks and customization is not worth it when the phone is not reliable on basic functions. iPhones may be boring, but it at least I never once ever in years on owning them needed to restart it to fix a problem.
[Update 2] Android 4.3 update seemed to have solved the wifi crash issue. It is running much more stable after the update. Had it installed for 3 days now, and no crashes or self-rebooting so far.
Cleaning
Thread has been cleaned. Please be respectful to others and do not incite.
[Update 3]
I previously thought that JB 4.3 update has rectified the wifi crash issue for good. After over a week with 4.3, wifi crash happened today.
The wifi option page was not grey-out, but it would not connect to any network, When I toggled it from "on" to "off" state, it failed to respond. At the end, only a phone reboot could fix it.
Frustrating to say the least.
[Update 4]
I can now reproduce the wifi problem when leaving the phone running on battery overnight. During the first week after 4.3 update, I left my phone plugged-in to power most of the time, and perhaps as a result, the wifi crash did not happen.
Basically, the wifi crash I am experiencing after 4.3 update is more or less the same issue reported by others on their HTC Ones (including One, One X, One S), where the wifi failed to connect after long period of inactivity.

For now, I am going to switch "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" to "Always", as suggested in the 2nd link above. This should keep the wifi connection on the during sleep, and hopefully fixes the issue. I'll report back.

WiFi does not restarting after sleep

I have been impressed with CM11/4.4.2. Runs well for being so new and not yet having an officially 'stable' version yet.
The one issue I have had is with the WiFi restarting after sleep.
KeepWifiOnDuringSleep is set to OnlyWhenPluggedIn. Whenever the tablet is awoken the WiFi stays disabled. Manually turning it off then on again will get it to reconnect but only for a short time, maybe a minute, before it permanently disables again. Only way to fully recover is to reboot.
Note that WiFi is be reported to be 'disabled'. It does not appear to be an issue of connectivity, wireless lease, no signal...
Anybody else experiencing this?
I successfully use an app called WiFi Fixer to reconnect after sleep.

That's been an on-and-off issue for ROMS going back to CM7. The work around has been to turn off WiFi before the screen turns off. Many folks have been using AutomateIt or Tasker to handle this automatically.

Android Pie is killing wifi when screen if off

I already tried to find a solution for this problem but wasn`t able to find one.
My wifi get turn off after I turn my screen off for a few minutes. This does not happen when I set the phone to use mobile data.
I already tried other wifi network and faced the same problem, so I think it is related to doze.
Does anyone have a solution/app/voodoo magic to solve this issue?+
My phone is OP5
