What do you mean?
I mean locking a file so you have to draw the lock code to access it, for example a picture. It would not be visible in the gallery but you could access it via a menu item, e.g. 'view locked files,', you then draw the lock code to access locked files. This is how it worked on my previous LG phone, I was able to do something similar on the umi before updating to android 7 but now can't find it. I did a longer post below explaining more what I mean but nobody answered it. Does that make sense?

Hi All,
I’ve just got myself a “bargain” from eBay that was advertised as unlocked but alas turned up with the sim lock on
I’ve contacted the Tmobile network in the UK and they will only send a code to a uk address and I am not there.
I have looked on this and other forums and seen that I could do it myself. I have rooted the phone and now have the yellow warning triangle on boot up. I also have CWM and Superuser icons in the Applications.
I have then tried to go onto the android app store to download Chainfires Galaxy S2 SIM Unlock. I then get the "There are no Android phones associated with this account" problem. Again I have looked at the solution to remove the phone number and re-enter it but this has not worked. I have tried several times.
I do not have Wifi and obviously can’t access the internet on the phone.
Is someone able to kindly send me the file in an email?
Once I have this done what else do I need to do to the phone? I’ve rooted it but only to the closest number I could find.
Thanks to XDA and all of you for reading this!
I'm a little slow so plese can you dumb it down... alot! ha ha
Phone: GT-I9100
Android version - 2.3.5
Baseband version - I9100BOKJ1
Kernel version - 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKE2-CL187606 [email protected] #2
Build number - GINGERBREAD.BOKK1

That app only works on early version phones and may not work for you. If it doesn't you should try Helroz's Galaxy S Unlock app it works on all S II's but I believe it requires Internet to get a small payload. Which could be a problem for you unless you drive around for the first open WiFi.
It also doesn't give a code it just straight unlocks the phone.
Thanks. I have downloaded this to my computer. What do I now do with it?
I'm still lost... What do I do?
Please can anyone point me in the right direction!
Thanks
Place the app on your internal or external sdcard and install. Ensure you have enabled 'unknown sources' or something like it in the phone settings first. Allow it root access when prompted by the super user app.

Thanks for the quick reply,
The phone is brand new to me and I don't understand your instruction. I have downloaded the file and extraced the folders and files. I have then placed this onto the card. I then go into the phone and have ticked the unknown sources box. I then try to run any of the files and only get a "No applications can perform this action" error.
If I try to run AndroidManifest.xml it opens HTML viewer.
Anyone Please....
It's an apk, you weren't supposed to extract it. Apk files are android installation packages. Push the apk to your phone's sd card, and open it using the "my files" app to install.
Thanks again. I've done that. I can find the file eu.chainfire.sgs2simunlockcode.zip in My files. When I tap on it I get the message "Open file. No applications can perform this action"
What am I doin wrong? Thanks for your patience

You apparently somehow changed the file extension from .apk to .zip. Change it back.
I had to change the file extension from .zip!
I am not running the app and hopefully that will work. Wish me luck!
What else should I do to a new phone? Is there any way to get rid of the Tmobile startup screens?
Thanks for all your help, you have helped me stop pulling all my hair out and shouting at the dog!
The app did not find an unlock code
Anymore ideas anyone?

You can flash a stock unbranded firmware... But it sounds as if you should read a lot more educational material before attempting this. Lots of good information is in the roll up sticky in the i9100 general section. Start there, and start reading. I can't offer you any shortcuts. Shortcuts tend to lead to frustration and bricked phones.
I have looked into other ways to unlock this phone...
How do I extract my nv_data.bin - I cannot find this file
-or-
Could someone please upload helroz sim unlock for me?
Thanks... back to banging my head on the wall! lol
I am still not getting anywhere! Please can someone help
I'm stuck now...
Thank you all
Aren't there services on the web that cost abot $40 and send you an unlock code? I understand that you don't have wifi, and the phone doesn't work. But if that's the case, how r u posting here?
Edit:thid is the first result on the duck duck go search engine: http://www.unlockingcodesforphones.com/ FWIW

I have a computer with a sim card in it. I know that there are services to unlock but I am trying to avoid that cost if I can. Perhaps after I have tried all other options I will have to go that route.
Thanks

I'll keep it short, my girlfriend's phone is locked, a PIN code, she forgot the code and now can't unlock it. She used the ADM to lock it and for some reason when you enter wrong PINs no option to login with your google account comes up. She doesn't to hard reset it because she can't risk losing the files. We tried using the Dr.Fone software to either lift the lock or extract the files but the program recognises her S3 Neo as a Sony phone for some reason.
Any ideas?
if u had twrp custom recovery u could go and delete the .key files from /data/system folder but I assume it's too late and ur not familiar with that?

You can try it by means of Android Device Manager
Through Android Device Manager which is also called as the Find My Device, you can remotely ring a device, change its lock, locate it or you can even erase its content. For this purpose, you will have to follow a few steps given below.
From any device, go to the Android Device Manager’s Official Website.
Once you open the website, Log in with your own Google account credentials.
Here, a list of all the connected devices to your Google Account appears.
When you select your device, you will get different options to choose from- Erase, Ring or Lock.
Now Press the Lock Option so that you can change the lock pattern on your device.
Now you will have to provide a new password for your device and also write an optional recovery message.
Choose these changes and then exit the window to change the lock your Android Device.
I have tried it earlier. When i click lock device it just locks device with my customised message. I think from Android 7 ownwards their is no option to change password from Android device manager when device is locked.

I got the paid version of EDS by sovworks. You create a container like TrueCrypt/VeraCrypt and use it that way.
It works very well for me.

For Android handsets and tablets running Android 5.0 Lollipop or newer, you can navigate straight to the “Security” menu under settings. Getting here might be slightly different depending on your OEM, but with stock Android, this can be found under Settings > Personal > Security.
Here you should see an option to “Encrypt phone” or “Encrypt tablet”. You’ll be asked to plug your phone in to charge while the process takes place, just to make sure that your phone doesn’t shut off and cause errors. If you haven’t done so already, you will be prompted to set a lock screen PIN or password, which you will need to enter when you turn your phone on or unlock it in order to access your newly encrypted files. Be sure to remember this password!
Interested in pulling all the data off of a Pixel XL that has a broken screen. It lights up in some places, but doesn't respond to touch. The fingerprint on the back responds but since the phone has been restarted, it requires a keypin. I have all google cloud/backup services disabled.
Is there a way I can manipulate the screen with a dev kit or other software while it's connected to my PC? I know the pin, obviously, but I can't enter it to enable file transfer for USB.
Thanks
@garrisonxci
If ADB ( read: USB debugging ) is enabled on phone, then several PC tools are available to bypass and/or even remove FRP lock via ADB, e.g TenorShare 4ukey.

4ukey deletes all data from the device, that doesn't help at all but I appreciate your reply.

This is for Samsung phones only and it costs money. This doesn't help either, but thanks for your reply

Actually you would need to disassemble the device and to a JTAG to the eMMC. It does cost money to get everything and some skill is required as it's no easy task. Any other method may be troublesome trying to retrieve data
